Quote:I was always crazy about broadsword, axe is pretty much the only set giving the same feeling. Mace is perhaps better, but i serious dislike the sqeeeek sounds. Each time i do that headsplitter alike power, still brings a huge smile on my faceOnce again, for everyone else: Axe is a very good set. It's a LOT of fun and fairly well balanced. It doesn't hold a candle to the AoE-centric tanker sets for AoE damage (nor should it), *much less* a scrapper set (I'm still reeling at the idea of comparing WA to Spin).
-
I never said it should be avoided, or its very lousy, i only state:
blizzard is my standard of how a T9 nuke should NOT be
Thats it. I rather see a Nuke working from the start and only needs some balance issues (damage, risk vs reward etc), then powers that need months before they finaly working as they should be.
My initial post was only about saying any nuke will be ok, as long it aint in the style of blizzard (like a bullet rain or something - pet based, not like RoA). -
Quote:And how long did it take? How long TA is already borked (aka, the engine still cant)? How long did it take for MM pets finaly stopped from going crazy on every 'pet' power a mob casted? But it can, now. It couldn't, then. Are we to avoid implementing things that we couldn't have implemented in the past? Or is it that the first impression of a power is such that you should never be willing to accept powers changing?
'pet' powers is something creatively done, what the engine cant. But each power they add, comes with a package full of bugs and issues. -
No, i say a power should never be like something, that the engine basicly cant handle ('pet' powers - TA finaly working? there's my point).
-
Quote:Even if the entire community liked Blizzard, it wont change my standard. Can you unpack this sentiment, please? There's a thread on the Archetypes board which is full of people frothing and lathering about how Blizzard is basically a chocolate cake with a free unicorn.
I've partied with a bit too many knockback happy people and pets, i now dont even have that power on my powerbars anymore. It still is 1 of the perfect examples of what the CoH engine actualy lacks, or rather, how 'cheap' such targeted AoE's are implemented.
Was only refering to the damage part, related to the pet system, as in the old days, player's damage buffs couldnt be transfered to the 'pet'.
The effect of the power itself ingame i cant do more then happy agree, it is one of the most 'easiest' nukes around. But for implementation into the game, and more, how long it took them to finaly get it right, no thanks, no more Blizzard alike nukes for me. -
As long its nice and better to use then Blizzard, i'm happy with it
(blizzard is my standard of how a T9 nuke should NOT be, specialy in the old days it was even a far worse power, non-dmg buffable) -
Only 1 letter difference to a last season F1 racer
I also want to have a sketch
But welcome aboard, i have coffee in the morning and 2 esspresso's in the afternoon, kkthxbb -
Lovely, just lovely.
Just because yet AGAIN there is a stupid seperate EU and US purchase for the going rogue, i get the same freaking error AGAIN.
An error has occurred. Please try again. If this problem persists, please contact support@ncsoft.com
Its not uncommon, if i login and go to store, only EU items available. If i go to the buy page fromout the updater, i log in and poof.. its gone.
For once, and for always, drop the crap implementation of this so called US and EU seperate store crap. At some point i hope u guys finaly learn of mistakes, GvE package, Villain Pack, wedding pack.. hell, should i go on? EVERY thing u guys sold in the stupid store, there is ALWAYS a problem with EU/US combined accounts. -
Not sure this is the right place, but where in the store is the Going Rogue pre-order to be found? I only see Europe version, where other items in the store (regular CoH etc) have a link to the US version, the Going Rogue one doesnt.
-
Quote:Arachnos i leave in the middle (cant really figure them out), but Kheldians have a few tricks making them more then a avarage hero. Flight/teleport, range/melee damage, tank and heal abilities. Epic not always means 'better' (ok, in WoW it did), lore wise they can be considered Epic (as in doing a heroic act).Would you say that Kheldians surpass other Hero ATs? Do Soldiers of Arachnos surpass other Villain ATs?
So its now unlocked at 20, or kheldians get instant boost to 20? -
Email says:
A superior graphic rendering process, dubbed "Ultra Mode," will provide City of Heroes a heightened level of detail in lighting, reflections, shadows, and water effects
Basicly i read just using the new features of the recent graphic instructions? No revamp on the fugly cars, the so squared buildings, high-reso tilesets, aka a graphic overhaul on the current content?
Although, in a certain other game, they have sortlike features wich makes the game looks quite more 'realistic', i do believe it will be some nice eyecandy. -
-
Ooooh still want to see that new hami raid (i still prefer the original lagfest ones :P)
Got blasters, tanks or controllers. -
Quote:Was a quick example of what is currently in the stores. Its not about me, it was about friends who started to play the game. So yes, 'seriously'.Wh? What? Your justification for claiming NCSoft is maliciously selling items without stating what they are...is CoV, because it would be account linked two years later? Seriously?
But who am i kidding? Trashload of US players that know **** about the EU situations.
As said, i'll stick to the testserver for playing DP/Demon, luckely some site is selling the timecards for only 5 euro, easier way to keep multiple accounts running.
Quote:and lastly..... you have no freinds here. If you're complaining about a game and it's developers on the official game FANSITE you're either really hard up for attention or a complete idiot. You're wearing White and blue in a Manchester United pub..... let the beatdown begin. -
Quote:Items no longer in the store, of clashing with items from the past (see the GW pvp pack, see unlock skills).Preorder has not started yet. Before it does, you will know what is in GR. I challenge you to point out an NCSoft item that is available for sale, but does not say what it is. Granted, I only know one game that they sell, but I don't believe they could legally get away with what you are claiming they do.
I'm ready to be corrected and put in my place.
quick example:
https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...tem&item_id=40
CoX Combined edition - 14.99
https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...tem&item_id=38
Item pack of the CoX combined edition. 8.99
https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...tem&item_id=36
CoV - plain - 14.99
Combined edition comes with a free month (12.99), the goodies, and CoV.
So basicly, for the price of 14.99 you get CoV (14.99), month playtime (12.99), itempack (8.99). But ONLY if your account has no CoV yet.
So, if you have bought CoV for the old retail price (29.99) in the time of CoV release, you ge screwed for 22 euro because you were NC's 'loyal fan' and bought CoV the day it released. -
Quote:If you still believe NCsoft is 'offering' this in return of your 'loyalty', you havent played enough games of NCsoft yet. If there is 1 company that is known for its 'limited info' about what you actualy buying, while offering a complete set of unknown packs, that would be NCsoft. They care **** about loyalty, care **** if you play since day one, forced to move back to EU and have no single change of returning to a more populated server.I have read most of this thread and can say a few things. People, you just don't get it. They are giving us a chance to play some of the going rogue stuff early, great way to show some gratitude for being loyal. Yes we have to pay for it. But if you choose not to so be it, you lose nothing. Some of us can afford it, some can't. This one truth is what makes this country great. I have play dp on test and loved it, I will spend the money to get to play it early and will be buying to CC as well. To those that can't, I'm sorry, this doesn"t effect you at all. I team alot and I can say that a lot of players have not bought the booster packs, it doesn"t change the way they play. In closing, if you are going to buy it anyway why are you complaining and if not you don't get vote.
They done it on Aion pre-order, Tabula Rasa, the pvp-packs on Guild wars were a serious screw over (first u have to buy each pack 7.99, to see it 1 month later for all classes for only 29.99).
The problem, they offering a crapload of packs, without EXACTLY telling you what is in it. Why on earth would i play 20-40 euro for 2 sets and kept in the dark what the whole GR gonna be? (i bet 10 bucks, a chain of missions and *poof* you are on the other side to continue grinding and farming). Dual pistols aint that great, demon summoning with the f00ked up AI probably gonna be nothing more then some eye candy.
Hell they even gave out more Aion 3.0 info or B&S, then a 'soon to be release' expension for City of Heroes. Why i'm so pissed about it? I got 5 accounts, we're talking 200+ euro if the new expansion is worth it, is it that weird i'm pretty pissed off they give **** on information? (yes, on that Certain Other game, i could buy a lifetime sub for that money, imaging that).
Look here, 20 pages with alot of questions.. all we have is 1 first post with some little info. -
Quote:Most likely indeed. Like i said before, they should remove the stupid limitation of server-dependant CD keys. I got unused pre-order codes, free month codes, hell even itempack codes, unusable since they are for the US accounts.Trying to fast read all new pages I still miss one HUGE remark on all!!!
If you are European playing on the European servers there is no use buying the boxed set in anyway unless someone can assure us EU players that there is a way the Boxed set is linked to the EU servers! And the time upgrade is usuable to an EU account!
If not... the boxed set and the complete updated DVD is useless to the EU community.
Therefore I will go and play safe using the prepurchase and item-pack upgrade... Keeping it digital.
Aside of that... it is managable in Euro's I see... If I pay more this way (by not having the free month) I dont care. This game is worth it.
By the looks of it, i gonna skip GR, its way too expensive for the additional of 2 new sets and wont bring that much gameplay (for me). 29 dollar each, talking 120 dollar for just getting into GR. Multi-account players are put in a box 'your f00ked' by NC, dont like it at all. As long they have the sets on the test-server, i'll be happy there.. about the same ammount of players there as on a random evening on the EU side.
Irony kicks in, why not remake your characters on 1 account? Remaking 12+ characters, getting all IO's again, the badges, yet loosing the aniversy badges, and you still wonder why there is powerleveling? Its even cheaper to get a 3rd party plvl your toon then the monthly fee it would take you getting all those characters at 50 on your own. Not to mention loosing my characternames.
Free character transfer, within your server, within your account. -
Quote:Nah, shipping boxes made in US to EU would just be too costly and no garantue they gonna be sold. Advertising, something NCsoft lacking since launch of CoH.Perhaps the no-EU-box means they may finally merge the server lists? We've all been waiting for GR to bring a new surge of players to the EU servers - this simply is not going to happen now.
Like those monthly cards, buying them online at a random online vendor is way cheaper then subscribing (12 dollar vs 13 euro, thats over 4 dollar difference A MONTH).
If i calculate back the entire US->EU crap for all my accounts the past year, i can easily keep a few US accounts active for a year, for only the difference in currency.
(and the stupid excuse of VAT, below 22 euro import, there is no charge of VAT or additional costs for the Dutch Customs) -
Quote:Wich, for example, they sadly did on MAG. On top of that, they seperated the EU and US codes, making them not exchangable. You know, it could be worse. They could have pre-order goodies from 50 different stores that are all different and only 3 of which are available in Europe, but there's no way anybody could get all of them.
"Pre-order Going Rogue from Kentucky Fried Chicken and get the Colonel Sanders costume set!"
But they have different codes here also, each time i buy a pack, i have to pay close attention in wich store i am, not buying the wrong one. (EU pack only to be applied EU account, same for US account). -
Wil there be any form of discount to multiple accounts?
Or i have to get my own discount again with some nifty USD/EURO conversion stuff? (bet 10 bucks the EU price will be identical to US price).
I'm pretty much forced now to get GR on more then 1 account, there is no such feature for accounttransfer nor character(cross-sea)transfer.
Yes, you get more money from me this way, but this getting a little pathetic. -
Dispite how much i like War Witch, my (of what is left on my villains) heart still belongs to Ghost Widow.
Although Desdemona will be my new love of the game, once GR finaly hits the server.
Bitty ontopic, a poem i wrote for Ghost Widow a while ago:
Ghost Widow - Soul Storm
May my enhancement color grey
Or ‘debt cap’ be my middle name
My hospital runs count infinitive
Or even be banned from this game
My pursue for your answer,
It remains my final quest
Unfinished, unanswered
How long does this last?
My final effort, i send you this poem
For all i am, a desperate man
I beg you, in our next encounter,
please do not kill me again. -
I rather call it a 'little' compensation for the poor advertising.. rather say 'lack of' on the EU side for this game. Goodies, events, ingame stuff, where is all the good stuff going on? (apart from few events in UK, ironicly).
Good side about 'pulling the plug', NC do give nice stuff. When Tabula went down i got quite alot of free stuff as compersation, now if they would do so on CoH... we get GW2 and B&S beta acces?(tabula gave 3 months CoH, LA2 and full acces to both beta as launch of Aion).
-
Quote:They even have different servers? o.0So in CoH we're continuing to get for free a feature we expected to pay for, whereas in a Certain Other game they're having to pay for a feature they expected to get for free.
Then again, i can choose between empty, deserted, very empty en basicly empty. My my my, i'm overwhelmed with joy of the free choice of transfering!
Serious note, i rather pay for a transfer and get what i want, then some free stuff that dont bring me any good anyway. -
Quote:Free character transfer is always a stick behind the door. One side its to balance the load on servers, otherside just to have it 'possible'. On WoW its done on nearly monthly base, free transfer between high and low populated servers.Does SWG's server consolidation indicate an industry trend? Will CoX's current free character transfer lead to some servers being shut down?
Will Going Rogue be available on the same servers as CoX? Or do the improved graphics of GR require newer, more powerful servers? Will GR be available on new servers while CoX runs on fewer, consolidated older servers?
Yet, the day there will be EU/US transfers, thats the day to worry about it.
As said, graphics are computer sided, server does little with it. But more powerfull would be prefered, specialy when they have 1000+ people going.
Quote:Posi has stepped down from head developer to instead head up an internal taskforce with the goal of creating new end-game content and a new "power-up" system for level 50s. No word on whether that's the universal enhancement slots or not... we'll just have to wait and see.
Link.
In terms of WoW, kinda the pre 3.3 gap when the game ilvl200 - ilvl245 difference became really noticable, but pushing it back alot due the 'free' ilvl232 gear.
I serious hope this power-up system goes a different road, more towards reincarnated or multi-sets, to create a larger diversity then just keep pimping out your 'static set of clicky powers'. -
Quote:Thats currently all i see about GR, villain AT can play in hero side, hero AT can play in villain AT. What the actualy gamebreaking stuff is? Beats me. All i see is some balance breaking stuff, and finaly the chance to play the more 'happy' side with a MM. (mostly cause i got serious fed up with the avarage mob in villain side and the lack of a 'hub').well first the game caught in Dev limbo was Duke Nukem Forever, 10 years they kept saying
"Soon"
now getting back to Going Rogue, the way i understand it, you start a char and after 20 lvls, you decide which side to go to, I have not taken a detailed look at all the power sets, but
is there not differences in the power choices for those first few lvls? so if i go to the hero side
or villian side ,do I have to respec? like the VEATS?
New 'universal' enhancements? Great, lets boost up your 'static set of powers' even more, as if it wasnt enough already to softcap even blasters (as long u got the 'dough), so i can 'blast' my way through 16 mobs even faster, solo, so i progress even further into endcont.. wait, do we even have endcontent?
Guildwars had 3 expensions (factions, nightfall, EotN), each giving quite a trashload of new elements (roughly 150 new skills, new class, new heroes, pve skills, new - damn hard - dungeons, outfits, and a while ago even your own pet-farm for the rangers among us, daily 'quests' and about every month a new balance round to make certain powers populair again to be tested for yet another different build)
