That's not a quote, that's a dude saying another dude said something.

Sources reveal Hugh Laurie was at first hesitant to take the job, put off by the idea of receiving currency without a queen on it. Once convinced of how many monocles and how much tea he could buy using these American "dollars" he grudgingly accepted.

Oh man, I just thought. You know those old school cigarette holders? Like Raoul Duke has in F&L in Las Vegas? Imagine one of those, but with hover technology. I'm not even a smoker but the idea of having one of those that you don't even need to hold with your mouth is rad as hell.

Quote:I think he meant adding a new effect to one of the Ice toggles that increased Fury generation, to compensate for the -rech on attack speed.Ummm...what? They have two aggro auras already. RttC does nothing to directly grant Brutes fury, as far as I know.
And the reason that Ice Armor got taken away from Brutes has more to do with Ice Melee than anything to do with Ice Armor.
Honestly though, with the new Fury changes the arguments for not giving Brutes Ice Armor/Melee don't really hold water anymore. -
Quote:True, some sets would be a poor match. I should have been more specific. What I meant was, the sets that wouldn't have massive issues. Like Ice for Scrappers and Stalkers, etc.I don't think every set is getting ported. Why? Some sets simply don't work on all related ATs. Knock yourself out thinking Regen works on a tank with SOs. It won't. I still have the belief the devs make new sets to offer similar options for other ATs so they can get a version that does work for them. Regen won't work on tanks. Hello Willpower. Add in this, there is no real reason why Ice/ice can't come to scrappers. They have no fury issue like brutes. So why don't they have it? Ice is known as the best set for aggro control. Look at /fa and /sr on a brute compared to scrappers in terms of taunt auras. The devs seem to be saying tanks and brutes can be known as sets for aggro control while a scrapper won't. Why give a melee set that's not being designed for aggro control a set that's largely known for it?
This says nothing of Posi saying at a con/show that ports were done. Just remember the last time ports happened was i16. The Incarnate issue with it being the main theme can't be used since they have made new sets versus ports. -
Someone alert the hoverfeds! Christ, I'm going to end up an old hoverman, sitting in my hoverchair on my hoverporch with my hover shotgun in my lap.

For what reason? Is it just you think each AT should have something unique? The Inherents of each AT make enough of a difference IMO.
-
Quote:Nope! Scrappers should get Ninjitsu, all the melee ATs should get access to Ice Armor and Ice Melee, Corruptors should get Psy Blast, FF and Poison, etc.I actually hope it doesnt get ported over. Some things need to stay exclusive IMO..
I don't agree with the idea that to play a certain set you have to play a certain AT. What if I want to have Ice Armor but not deal Tanker damage? More options is better. There's a point where too many choices can be paralyzing, but we're far from it. -
Quote:This is precisely why I build all my squishy dudes for softcapped defenses. Have high personal defenses, be willing to eat inspirations, never have to wait on melee again. The key is being quick to get from one spawn to the next. Most ranged characters don't have the ability or inclination to take an alpha strike, though, so even if they beat you to the next spawn they're going to stand there with their th... holding their fire until you or another melee dives in ahead of them.
As an aside, since I'm so used to playing at range, it always kinda irritates me having to get all the way into melee on my Scrapper. Sure, he almost certainly does more damage than my Corruptors, but on fast moving teams, having to move into melee when most stuff can be obliterated from range I find to be a hassle. YMMV and all that. -
Take Ice Mastery on Ice/Storm Controller, softcap s/l defense, get high recharge, fuel it with Cardiac, win everything.
-
The fact that I really like the theme/aesthetics of my KM/SD Scrapper is a not-insignificant part of why he even survived to 50, let alone has shiny IOs.

Couldn't find a torrent, don't care, these guys can have my money. Bought dis on iTunes, downloading now.
This is sogood.
Edit: ahahah holy **** -
Spiritual. Easily. Cold has several long recharging powers which should be ED-maxed on recharge already. Spiritual giving even more recharge for them, making them perma or close to it is win.
-
In which case one should be reaching for inspirations/Demonic, or hell, Barrier before one reaches for Unstoppable.

something something devs hate villains
Edit: oh and this is totally a slap in the face
Edit 2: I've just thought, the corollary of this is that a Rogue or Vigilante could theoretically get 4 Notices (and thereby a Favour) in one week. Run both hero WSTs, go run the villside one and Mortimer Kal, convert the Flames of Prometheus temp.
Bam, 4 Notices in one week. How's that for a slap in the face? -
Quote:I wouldn't expect this to remain as-is for long. It'll probably get changed to respect the 10second proc rule, so I'd urge against making a character just to take advantage of it.Yeah, my fire/dev is crazy. Caltrops and rain of fire is just insane. Think i'm going to roll a fire/traps corrupter so i can have some scourge going too.
That said, Fire/Traps Corruptors are friggin' awesome anyway, so they're always good to make. Just a heads-up about the Interface thing. -
Okay, my first recommendation would be to narrow down what you're aiming for. You said you're looking for regeneration and defense. What kind of defense? Which type or vector? For example, if you decided to go for smashing/lethal defense, you could take Scorpion Shield. If you wanted ranged defense, slotting a lot of Thunderstrikes would be the way to go.
I personally wouldn't build for +regen for two reasons. One, Corruptors have relatively low hp so you're never going to get a great deal of hp/sec. Secondly, and more importantly, you've got Twilight Grasp. It's a great heal. It heals a lot, recharges fast and is a debuff to boot. It'll be more than enough to keep your green bar healthy.
Looking at your build, you've got defense in the teens to all three positions and all types and just over 20% for energy/negative and ranged running Shadowfall. I'd recommend you choose a type or vector and get it to 32% or so. That means a single purple inspiration will take you to the softcap (link as to why its such a good goal).
There's stuff I'd change about the rest of the build because its a little all over the place at the minute, but the main stuff is as follows: I'd drop or really reconsider the Leadership pool. Fire/Dark is quite an end hog and Assault/Tactics provide very little benefit for the endurance cost for you. Assault is also overslotted, I'd put 1-2 level 50 end rdx IOs in it if you really want it.
The Dark Servant would really benefit from some accuracy. Tactics will help him, but its better to slot him properly. If you want a dark themed epic, I'd go with Dark Mastery over Soul Mastery. Power Boost provides fairly little benefit to Fire/Dark, Patron Pets are pretty much all terrible and the Dark pool has several awesome powers. Like Soul Drain, to turbocharge your damage and Dark Consumption for your end bar.
Take a look at the Dark Miasma guide in my sig. I've got my build in there if you want to check it out. Once you know what you're aiming for, I can be more specific with your build.
My recommendation for a Fire/Dark would be lots of recharge and recovery, moderate defense (32% to a given type/vector).
As for the market stuff, read the market forum. Lots of great information in there and they're very willing to help people willing to learn. But the basic idea is this: buy low, sell high. I realize that sounds like facile advice, but that really is the core of it.
Look up builds on the forums, see what sets are used a lot. Look at your own builds, see what sets you use a lot. This will give you a pretty good idea of the demand for a given set. Then check out the market. See how much the pieces of the set sell for, say Doctored Wounds. That's a popular set because it goes all the way up to 50, its a heal set and almost everyone has a heal of some kind and it provides 5% recharge. Everyone loves recharge.
So you look at how much pieces have been selling for, work out a rough average and put in a lowball bid. Putting in bids slightly above the lowest sold value and selling for slightly below the highest sold values is a good way to go. Crafting stuff up is also a very good way to make money. The recipe + salvage costs is often much less than what the crafted IO sells for. You can pick up lots of desirable recipes for little, buy the salvage (or get it using ticket rolls), craft it up and sell it for a healthy profit.
Hope that helps. So yeah, take a look at my guide if you want, decide on a focus for your build and I can try to help out some more
