Pohsyb just confirmed for me that yes, we will earn prestige in MA missions. (Assuming we're in SG mode, of course.)
[/ QUOTE ]Did you visit him in his box, or was he able to smuggle a note out to you? -
[ QUOTE ]
Are ambushes possible? Can our heroes leave a door mission and get attacked by our custom villains in an ambush?
[/ QUOTE ]I saw a dev statement that ambushes are not allowed. Since the screenshots show the option for in-mission ambushes, I can only assume he meant no ambushes outside the mission instance. -

The other day I was on a mission where I had to defeat Lord Recluse and, My question is, will I be able to select this mission map------> http://borgking001a.deviantart.com/a...Days-114790181
[/ QUOTE ]The devs have mentioned "unlocking" maps and other aspects of MA. I suspect that means that some of the really kewl maps (such as the one you linked) may not be available to you until you either buy them via tickets or meet some other prerequisite. -

How's investment of time going to stop griefers?
They'll just play, get the XP from killing enemies, and then give you 1 star.
[/ QUOTE ]It wouldn't stop them, but it would slow them down a bit, and provide something of a disincentive. Whether this is enough of a plus to justify imposing it on all players is the question. -

To do a solid to the next person, who can pass on something that looks like crap and spend their fun time having, well, fun?
I'd want others to do the same.
[/ QUOTE ]
Speaking as a potential 'next person?' I'd rather you actually know the subject you're reviewing before you do me said solid.
[/ QUOTE ]This may be the devs' biggest headache regarding ratings and their impact on player's getting their arcs recognized: the player community is very diverse, and has very diverse views about not just what they like, but how they determine what they like. I fear that very few people will be completely statisfied with whatever they devs settle on.
That said, here's another half-backed idea: How about recording whether or not a rating was made without completing the arc, and let the players filter which ratings they personally see. The average rating seen by the player would be calculated off which view-option the played currently had selected. -

I think I know the answer to this, but perhaps getting an answer might just make it official.
Am I correct in assuming that NCSoft will retain the rights to any and all stories, narratives, characters, and IP created in MA?
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a small chance that a Red name will contradict me, but I'm pretty sure that they will retain all rights, just as they do to the characters you create in COX. That's pretty much standard boilerplate for any on-line service, but not because they are planning on turning your idea into a block-buster movie. Instead, they need to have the right to store your mission on their servers, send it to other players, etc. without a separate authorization from you, and in particular because they need to do so without paying you a license fee each time.
Of course, if your idea is particularly good, they might incorporate into their regular mission set. If they do, they won't have to reward you (since they already own the rights), but I'm hoping they at least give us recognition. If you want to retain the financial rights to your idea, I suggest not publishing the idea in MA. -

So, apropos of nothing... who else has spent the weekend making costumes and saving them against Closed Beta Acceptance/Open Beta/Launch?
I've got a nice 'central cast' of heroes and villains going, plus three enemy groups from multiple minions (since the implication is you can have more than one costume/model for a given 'minion,' a la the Skulls or Longbow) through Elite Bosses. I'm canting more towards City of Villains content right now -- I'm looking forward to giving Supervillains some good old fashioned comic book evil -- but I have some hero-side stuff too. And of course, once it's all built in MA, there's no reason I can't use it all over and over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've only done one costume per minion type, but since my factions have "uniforms" that fits conceptually. If we can have multiple models per minion type, then I may go back and indivualize faces, add LT and Boss versions, etc. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think we're worrying too much about this this early in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]Until I get my hands on the MA, all I can do is dream and worry! -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm willing to listen to ideas on how truly horrible content can get rated without having to endure all of it.
[/ QUOTE ]How about let the player rate without completing only one mission per week or month? To ensure that it's only used to get out of "bad" missions, the rating for such an aborted mission would always be "one star". -

Can you make Fed Ex missions as part of your story arc? Example:
Mission 4: Go talk to Statesman in Independence Port.
??
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope not. They're not so bad when you're running solo, but nothing destroys team cohesion more than these time-wasting run-around missions (except maybe serial team wipes).
[/ QUOTE ]I agree that Fed Ex missions can be a pain at times, and I feel that they are over-used in a lot of the older content. However, from a story-telling perspective they can make a lot of sense.
Unfortunately, I suspect that the game-dynamic of a sort of "holodeck" will mean that we transition from one mission to next without leaving the building. I hope I'm wrong, as one of my plots requires delivering something to the MAGI vault before it "wakes up", but that's the way it seems to me so far. -

Can we please get a list of the "bad words"?

I have it on good authority that Ms. Liberty has petioned to have the nickname "Side-Chick" placed on the banned list... -

I understand we can't edit existing villain groups powers. But can we at least alter their appearance, or colors?
IE: I want a black and red PPD Hardsuit. And I'd like a big pink warwolf for my GF.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pohsyb answered this back on the first page of this thread.
(And the answer was no.)
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah. The existing NPCs use a completely different character model than the player characters, so our character editor won't work on them. We can, as I recall, give them different powers, but they might not have the appropriate animation for the new power - you'll just have to test to see what looks right on them. -

I'm a little... disheartened at the '1000+ votes at average 5 stars.'
This sounds very much like 'have fun with 3 arcs forever.' I mean, I think I can make some nice arcs, but getting 1000+ folks to vote 4-5 stars, and hope there aren't griefers or grumps dragging it down?
Sigh.
[/ QUOTE ]
I tend to agree with this.
[/ QUOTE ]
It sounds ominously high to me as well. I'm hoping that they data-mine it after release, and adjust the requirements accordingly. -
Can a single mission arc have more than one contact? For example, after completing Mission 1 from Contact A, you are directed to Contact B who gives you Mission 2?
-
Will it be possible to design PvP missions, either in co-op mode or hero-vs-villain? We've used scheduled base raids to role-play some conflicts between our hero and villain SGs, but a setting other than the base would be better for some storylines.

BAB was leading probably only one or two people in looking after animations (he'd need someone else to hold the camera while he swung his sword around - bow wow chicka chicka bow wow! ;-), SexyJay probably had costume design all to himself or as part of a small art team (two or three people).

I've actually been the sole animator and FX artist since Issue 8. So glad to say that's no longer the case XD

How about "holiday themed" decorations, such as wreaths and Christmas trees for winter, jack o'lanterns and cobwebs for Halloween, etc.?
Some of the holiday decorations could be available to any SG, while others might require earning a specific SG badge before they could be bought and installed. For example, one of the nicer Halloween decorations might require that 13 SG members complete the Croatoa TF in SG mode.
Some of these decorations (such as cobwebs for magic-themed rooms) might be appropriate year-round, but other could be automatically sold back and uninstalled after the applicable holiday period is over. (Christmas trees being up in July is a bit tacky...)

[ QUOTE ]
Just to head this off at the pass, there is no Anniversary badge for CoV 2 years... we want to get to a point where we only celebrate ONE anniversary a year, like normal folks.
[/ QUOTE ]
If we were "normal folks", would we even be here? I mean, spandex-wearers are kind of rare in real life (outside of San Francisco)... -
For future consideration, any chance of making the official videos also available via bitorrent? Might be less of a hit on your servers the first couple days at least...

Oh - and I'd love to do a giant mech game. Love it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm kind of surprised there isn't an MMO based on 'mechs yet. An entire genre of anime is based on giant mechs - I'd think there'd be a huge market for a Battletech, Robotech, or other 'mech-based MMO... -
I found a name plate hidden in small nook halfway up a tower in Grandville that bears the name Mike Apolis, as shown here. Any idea who Mike Apolis is?

Grandville -
The Grandville teleport beacons are working with the latest patch, but the items still look damaged when mounted on the wall (both tech and magic versions).
Also, the tech and magic versions seem to drop you to opposite corners of the main entrance hall in Grandville. Not sure if that's intentional or not, though it may reduce congestion when I7 goes live and many SGs add the beacons to their bases. -
I have been unable to attach either the arcane or the tech version of the Grandville teleport beacons in my base. I can purchase them and mount them on the wall next to the applicable teloport pad, but they look damaged and show a status of unattached. The Port Oakes beacons I bougth and mounted look and work fine though.
I couldn't find any mention of this on the message boards or the patch notes - is this just happening to me? /bugged in game...
