  1. I was wondering if any other MA Authors were noticing this...

I was re-testing my arcs (again), and I noticed one of my custom critters was only using the same attack over and over.

It was an Elite Boss with Super-Strength set to Standard (Jab, Punch, Haymaker, Hurl).
But she never used Jab or Punch.

at opening of fight, she used Hurl, and then for a several minute long fight, I watched carefully, and every single attack was Haymaker. With, of course, considerable pauses between the attacks. This made the critter a lot less dangerous than intended, with the really slow attack chain of one...

Of course, I checked the power selection then bugged it.
  2. Changes made to "Escalation" on 9/28/09

    5 typo corrections.

Big thanks to Police Woman for the replay! Still the best proofreader in the MA community I've seen!
  3. @M I Abrahms has turned down the influence prize, on the basis of not having a character on Justice, and although I offered to try a cross-server influence transfer, he felt that since he played the arcs for reviews rather than for the raffle contest

    So, now @Archdemon is #1, and @twelth is #2

gonna generate a new random number for Third Prize soon.
  4. changes made to "Amazon-Avatars" on 9/15/09

-added several minions to the "Amazon Centurions" faction for Mission 5.
done to make sure that faction gives full XP in Issue 16.

this leaves the arc at 99.94% of memory. I think I might just be done tweaking this one, since I really don't have much other choice...
  5. Thanks for the reviews of both my arcs!

I wasn't able to catch the stream live, but an SG mate recorded it for me.

At least 2 members of my SG listened to the stream, maybe more.

Think my favorite line was "FemFury is either female or Joss Whedon."

I appreciate the solid reviews, and the good ratings.

Seemed that the biggest complaint about "Escalation" was feeling the pattern of upgrades was a bit predictible. I was kinda shooting for establishing a pattern, so that the feeling of "How can I beat her? She keeps getting nastier" could sink in a bit. Which was supposed to set up the moment in the briefing for Mission 5 where Detective Becktrees says he thinks he's sending you into a "no-win" situation, and is impressed that you're still going in anyway. It's supposed to be a moment where your character can "be a hero", and charge in against an apparently insurmountable situation, defying the odds. Of course, that's a tough thing to pull off in this game structure, but that's what I was shooting for.

Again, thanks for the reviews on both arcs. It definitely sounds like both enjoyed and considered worth your time, and I'm very glad of that.
  6. Changes made to "Amazon-Avatars" on 9/10/09

-changed map in Mission 3 to a different Croatoa map, due to reports of mission objectives not spawning.

-changed mission objectives in Mission 3 from Mystic Tablets to Magical Cauldrons. Previous playtests of the Croatoa map now being used showed that smaller destructible objects could slide in the geometry and be lost. Hopefully, the larger items won't be subject to this.

-added an optional Pack Alpha boss spawn to mission 5 to give some more "screen time" to the Wolves of Artemis.
  7. Hm. looks like your show will be right between two meetings for me tonight.

Dang, with both my arcs being reviewed, really wanted to listen.

Well, if fortune smiles on me, I might be able to squeeze it in, listening on a laptop in the office between meetings.

If not, I'll cross my fingers that the archiving system is working.
  8. Update!

@Kelandra has turned down the first place prize, on account of having no characters on Justice....

    so, #27 @M I Abrahms is now the 1st place winner and #5 @Archdemon is 2nd place.

Generating a new random number for a new 3rd place:

    and it's: Entry #25 @twelfth !

gratz to the new winner. We'll see if any more shake-ups occur....
  9. Well, there were 29 entries between Aug 3rd and Sept 3rd.

so, generated 3 random numbers betwenn 1 and 29, and in order, the drawings are:

    Entry #24 @Kelandra (1st place, 100 million)

    Entry #27 @M I Abrahms (2nd place, 50 million)

    Entry #5 @Archdemon (3rd place, 25 million)

and Author's choice goes to @Cai. Cai played both arcs early, and left thoughtful feedback, and responded to tells after the feedback. Also was an early poster to the forum thread as well. (25 million)

Sorry for the delay in posting the results. I generated the random numbers on Sept 4th, then I realized that since @M I Abrahms was the 2nd place winner, I needed to wait until after he recorded the Aentertainment Tonight reviews of my arcs before I posted the result, to avoid even the appearance of attempting to bribe him. Kinda makes me wish he wasn't one of the winners.... but, he played the arcs during the timeframe, sent the tells, and the random numbers were what they were....

Off to send in-game tells to the winners!

So, 29 new plays on my arcs for 200 million influence. I'll let everyone come to their own conclusions on the efficiency of the results.

Congrats to the winners! I'll see you in-game sometime for the influence transfers.
And any of the winners can PM their snail mail address if they want, and I'll mail them the 4 comic book issues from AC Comics which had my scripts published, signed copies, of course.

    both!

Just had to wait a bit, as one random winner turned out to be doing a review, and didn't want to give even the appearance of having influenced the review... But, since the Aentertainment Tonight episode has to have been recorded by now...
  11. "Escalation" will be reviewed on the "AEntertainment Tonight" internet radio show on September 10th, Thursday at 7 PM.

  13. Excited to see that both "Escalation" and "Amazon-Avatars" will get reviewed on the September 10th show.

I'll be doing my level best to listen in while I'm at work. And I'll see if I can get my SG members to listen in too.
  14. Just two days left.

    and just 25 raffle entries.

Play one of the arcs on Sept 2nd or Sept 3rd and send the feedback tell if you'd like to get a last minute entry in.
  15. Only about a week left!

    22 entries so far.

Odds are pretty good for those who have entered so far...
  16. Up to 22 entries now.

So, still pretty good odds at one of the 3 random prizes if you earn an entry.

Still some time, the time for entries runs through September 3rd. I'll make the drawing after that.

    Canon Fodder

If you are still looking for new arcs to review, you might want to check out my arc #6143 "Escalation".

Every mob you fight is custom throughout.

it's got custom bosses, and EB and an AV.

I think that's enough to fit your criteria.

Thanks in advance and hope you enjoy!
  18. Tahlana's Rotten Tomatoes project has completed the compiling of data of current reviews.

From the main list, Amazon-Avatars is #46 at 4.0 Stars with 3 Reviews
  19. Current number of raffle entries: 9

Odds are still pretty good of getting one of the 4 prizes at this rate.

    Thanks much.

Look forward to hearing what you think of them.

And good luck in the raffle!
  21. changes made 8/13/09:

-changed the names of minions, LTs, and Bosses in the "Wolves of Artemis" faction made of modified standard characters

-added modified character descriptions to Wolves of Artemis NPCs

-changed some colors on the Wolves of Artemis, so they are a bit less like the wolves who hang out with Shadowhunter or the Council.

(much thanks to @Leah White for the suggestion that got me looking at those wolves and got me to tweak them)

    -some typo fixes

    -tweaked some Contact dialogue

-made some changes to Secondary powers in Avatar of Artemis

-added Amazon Priestesses to the Amazon Centurion faction of modified standard characters

-added an Amazon Priestess optional boss goal to final mission

I'd say that fighting the parallel to Lord Recluse is way better for the plot than fighting the parallel of Black Scorpion.

In the clue earlier, you made a big point that the Praetorians give Lord Kumo the armor of Sir Recluse, which explains why he looks like the Lord Recluse we know and loathe.

What if instead they send him a mutagenic serum based on Sir Recluse's blood? In hopes of unlocking similar powers, thinking it should work since he's "mostly the same person". But it all goes horribly wrong and makes him into something like an Arachnoid? Recolor the Elite Boss version of Super Arachnoids? Then give him ambushes of ninja reinforcements at various health levels. It could show him being willing to make himself into a monster to fight the super-powered interlopers into his world. And show the willingness of his Praetorian Patrons to twist him to their own ends.

I like Venture's idea of a Ninja / Poison Mastermind with extra ambushes too.
  23. Aggregated Data! Awesome!

    (**has a happy geeky moment**)

This must have taken a lot of work, so let me chime in with appreciation for your efforts.

I'll have to see if there are any in the top 10 of the main list I haven't played and get them on my "to-do" list.
  24. Reposting the promo-poster, since previous html is now borked
