Go here. According to this, "Tsoo" is Hmong for "beat", "break", or "smash". And you pronounce it (oh, THIS will drive you all insane)...

    Joong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Obviously, Hmong transliterators are quite heavy on the opium.

It's very hard to explain how I pronounce "Tsoo". The language I speak has a seperate letter for a sound similar to "ts". However, in English that sound is more of a combination of two different sounds, where as I ponounce it as one. I can't explain it and most of you cannot pronounce it, so it's really pointless to try. Phonetics are not one thing which can be transcribed in any language.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In college, I majored in Russian studies (language, history, etc.). When pronouncing the "ts," I always thought of the sound that a highhat (the piece of a drumset that has two opposable cymbals, worked with a pedal) makes. A very brief, staccatoed "t"-sound, followed by an "s."

Anyone with Teleport should be scare S***less of teleporting somewhere they can't see.

I mean - It's suicidal. What if you teleported and came back half-embedded in stone? You're dead. No saving throw.

    [/ QUOTE ]

People always bring this up, but they never think of what the consequences would be, if this were true. Unless you're porting into a vacuum, the risks should be equal, regardless of whether you can see where you're going or not. The air that surrounds you is matter, just like that wall. If there is a risk of teleporting into something, then you would be getting something very similar to "the bends" every time you ported... um... ANYWHERE. There has to be some cosmic law that prevents two objects from occupying the same place, on a subatomic level.

Furthermore... Any clue what would happen if you ported into a wall or even ported into the air molecules? Think of Hiroshima, except worse. Imagine every atom of your body, plus the atoms of the wall, exploding at nearly the speed of light.

Hell, it could even start a chain reaction capable of destroying the planet...

    or worse.
  4. Umbryl: Well, the character was originally Shadowguard, but I didn't like the design, so deleted and started over, but I wanted to change the name, yet have it be somewhat similar. He's kind of a cross between mutant and magic, origin-wise, so I thought Umbryl fit.

Killer Antz: Killer = chest beating bravado; Antz = well, they're ants. An evolved, sapient ant colony that built themselves a cybernetic suit.

Ms. Moscow: Kind of Ms. Marvel/Power Girl-type from mother Russia. I don't play her often -- only when I want to tune my feminine side.

Baron Brimstone: Baron = he's royalty from some tiny European country; Brimstone = sounded good for a fire tanker. Plus, he's got a magic origin, so Brimstone seemed to fit.

...and several more that are just in the drawing-board phase.

Are there more pirate hat options? Please tell me we can have a tri-cornered pirate hat. I really want a pirate hat. Please let there be pirate hats.

    /em crosses fingers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
*stomps foot* I be needin' a real pirate hat!

    [/ QUOTE ]

OMG YES! I've been holding off on creating a character for precisely this reason.

Although my character might be more suited for villainy. Maybe pirate hats will be in CoV?

I live alone...except for the cat, and he's not talkin'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He's holding out: my cat told me everything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Be skeptical. Cats' colour perception isn't much better than being colour-blind.

    *Entirely new cities to visit

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is what I'm banking on.

People who think there isn't much to this game, or much more to come, keep thinking of the game as an MMORPG more than a comic book. All this game really is is one big, every-telling comic book story. And in DC, there isn't just Metropolis. Or Gotham City. You have an entire world.

Ya' got Central City, Keystone City, Hub City, Coast City, Star City, real places like New York and Los Angeles, planets like Oa, Krypton, Bolovax Vik, Xudar, Zenn-La... other dimensions, which they've already dipped into a little.

Portal Corp and Kheldians were just a step. Pick up some comics some time, and you'll see an almost infinite source of creativity that can keep this game going with more and more new content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely agree! I'd love to be able to go to different cities throughout the world and fight crime... London, Paris, Moscow, Tokyo, etc. This is one of the areas I think Cryptic went wrong with the first game. They could have made their zones encompass the whole world, instead of just one city.

    * Fighting organized crime in Las Vegas and/or New York.
    * Fighting street gangs in Los Angeles and Miami.
    * Fighting Voodoo, Vampires, and organized crime in New Orleans.
    * Maybe some kind of aventures in the Grand Canyon.
    * Aliens around Area 51.
    * Fighting rednecks in Texas.
    Etc.

I would love a Pulp version of CoH, as well. Most of my characters have that darkness about them that would fit the genre well. I think a lot of what CoH already has is Pulp-ish, anyway -- mystics, organized crime, secret societies, etc.
