  1. Chuckling, Richard murmured softly, confident that BODICIA would hear him. "Perhaps chaperone duty does not, my dear, but Richard duty does. And it's one I'm happy to avoid shirking. Besides, Cass will keep an eye on me, I'm sure."

He grinned at Sophie when she called his name, and took the opportunity to study her dress. "Oh, I've eaten already, my dear. I might have a sausage roll later, if there are any left, but it doesn't take much to stoke my furnace. Of course, if I was feeling at all adventurous I would point out that the loveliness of the ladies in my presence is enough to make me forget my appetite, regardless."
  2. Returning from a brief interlude in what Americans seemed to persist in refering to as the 'bathroom' - he had yet to see a bath in a public one - Doctor Richard Huntington III entered the room. His tailored suit hung comfortably, waistcoat and tie in a deep burgundy, with a white rose pinned to his lapel.

He smiled towards Ryan, though he didn't expect the busy young man to notice, and attempted to loom significantly, near the buffet, casting his eyes around the gathering students, nodding toward the young men he recognised, and offering sly winks to the ladies.

My sense of humour is failing me. It's getting near Christmas and I have done no more Christmas shopping than Annette, so sue me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*Calls his lawyer* Hey, there's this guy I need to sue. He told me to.

Don't worry, Birdy - I know how you feel. I've been in a huge grump for the last 3 weeks or so, which is why I've not really been RPing recently: I have no desire for Dicky to be affected by my mood. And it's nice to know I'm not the only person who is AWFUL at Christmas Shopping. Exacerbated by the fact that it's She Who Must Be Obeyed's birthday on Monday... and I've bought even less for THAT than I have for Christmas.

Anyway, I'd have to see your Golden Girl and raise you one Mother's Love, Guillermo.

Hell yeah. Mother's Love is far and away one of the nicest, sweetest, most fantastic people around.

(I've seen neither of them roleplay, but frankly, Union has Galaxy Girl, every night, in spades, and Defiant has... um... some costume competitions?)

I've had brief IC chats with ML whenever we cross paths. It's awesome.

    ^This, without the inflammatory comment.

Union has always been the "Unofficial RP server" for CoX EU. Heck, from back when I joined the game (Sept 05), I remember looking at these forums and saying "ooh, good job I picked Union, then, that's where the RPers are!"
  6. If memory serves, it's a script that they have to run, Sugar Rush, and it frees up character names on all toons of 6th level or lower from accounts that have not been active in the last 90 days. The names still exist on the toons, but they are no longer "reserved" against use, and a free rename is granted if a returning player tries to load up that character.

Edit: Oh, and they've run it twice that I know of.
  7. Main: Shadowe
    Powers: Eng/Eng Blaster
    Goals:

RP-wise - Get married, have kids, live happily ever after in a peaceful world that he doesn't have to rule to make that way.
    Gameplay-wise - Badgewhor...hunter. I've nearly hit the 500 mark. I'm working on it.
  8. Yes.

Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights, any time after about 7.00 pm UK time. Mondays are generally free, but not always, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are not free.

Oh, and as an addendum, would an IC Hami Raid be a possibility at some point? Just a thought.

If I lost my character and SG names, I'd leave. If they can't come up with a decent way round the naming and base and group issues, then no thanks to a server merge.

Also, people who have characters on each server. Imagine someone who has all their slots filled out, there's no way for them to get 48 characters (Or if they have brought character transfers, more) on one server, so they'll lose out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    This.

A server merger without the ability to preserve everything a player has worked on would be the fastest way to drive away current players and probably cause an unrecoverable level of bad press for EU-CoX.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ^This.

A large number of us are VERY attached to our character names, SG names, SG bases, and so forth. A server merge would risk (please note there's no guarantee) some or all of those things.

For example - I've been kicking around this forum community since October 2005 (about a month after I first started playing the game), and I am known/reviled/respected/seen (delete as appropriate to your personal tastes) as Shadowe. I play my main on Union. I happen to know that the name Shadowe is taken on Defiant. It's my global name, my main toon's name, and is a part of several of my character names. I would NOT be happy if I lost it due to a server merge. It wouldn't be an insurmountable problem, but it would change too many things that are well established in my character's background and I would, quite simply, quit the game.

As an RPer I have not observed an significant difficulty finding a team when I want one, and to lose something that has been a labour of love for the last 3+ years would irritate me hugely.

So, unless they can come up with a way to preserve character names, SG names, SG bases and basically everything about all of my characters, I'm not interested in a server merge, because I do not see the problems that other people seem to, regarding the population of the servers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That mission doesn't do it, as Anti-Matter teleports away and you don't defeat him, so it doesn't count toward the badge. Go deeper into Tina's arc and you will face him again.

Elite Bosses still count towards the badge.

    And your English is fine!

Well, true, but correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a SG uniform something that every member of the SG should be able to get from the costume options? In which case, the list of options is far more restricted than you make it out to be.
  13. One thing to note on this - if you already have the badge, from doing these missions in a previous year, then you will not get the reward again. This is WAI.

    SG Tailor

How to have an SG costume slot, by Shadowe.

    Firstly, tickboxes everywhere!

The SG leader then selects, by clicking the tickboxes, which options are available for the SG costume. If a particular cossie piece has no tick boxes selected, then ALL of them are available for player cutomisation. The SG Leader may also select the primary and/or secondary colours as the SG colours, or leave them available to the players.

If this were implemented, then it would allow, to a certain extent, customisation of costumes to suit individual characters, while still forcing them to fit within certain "Signature SG Costume Pieces".

    Just a thought.

    ski limit

I think it would take a bit of practice, and the messages sent would be best served if sent by the person who has just TP'd player 1.

So, using the method I suggested above, it goes a little like this...

    Player 1 starts.

Player 2 TPs Player 1 to gate 1

    [Team] <Player 2> 2

Player 8 TPs Player 2 to gate 7

Player 3 TPs Player 1 to gate 2

Player 2 moves down to gate 8

    [Team] <Player 3> 3

Player 2 TPs Player 3 to gate 8

Player 4 TPs Player 1 to gate 3

Player 3 moves down to gate 9

    [Team] <Player 4> 4

That way, each person can have to hand their own instructions for when an announcement is made.

I think this has a good chance of success, and good break the boundaries of speed, if done well.
  16. Shadowe

    ski limit

8 people on a team, one person doing the run.

    Player 1: the victim.

Player 2 - Gate 1 (hovering or flying just before it, perhaps?)

    ...

    Player 8 - Gate 7

    -----

    Player 1 starts.

Player 2 TPs Player 1 to gate 1

    <Message>

Player 8 TPs Player 2 to gate 7

Player 2 moves to gate 8

Player 3 TPs Player 1 to gate 2

    <Message>

    Rinse and repeat.
  17. Hey, KaTet.

That's a moderately sucky position to be in. Given that I work in Customer Services myself, I think it might be worth you taking a quick look HERE.

In short you have a statutory (and inalienable) right to expect that the service you have paid for will be carried out in a "reasonable time". The definition of "reasonable" is pretty much "what any reasonable person would expect". So while it might be too much to expect for NC to sort it out inside of three days, I (trying to think reasonably) would expect it to take not more than 1-2 weeks to sort out. (They have to check that payment has been made, they have to ensure funds are cleared, they have to revert your account status to active - each of those steps might take 1-2 days to go through their systems, and the last one might take up to 5.)

It's 1 per base piece, 3 for component...

    ^This.

Components grant 3 Brainstorms. This seemed completely fair to me, when I was busy converting, since, as the OP says, it took 2-4 Base to make a Component.

Do I need to give a reason? Surely this is a bug, a bit like the Cyborg pack ones. If you can unlock it at L1, you should be able to add it to the character at L1.

Actually, it's a "suggested so often that it's boring" wish, combined with a "the developers have specifically said they will not do it" wish. Really, we get this once a month. And, really, the developers have specifically stated that they will not implement such a system.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, that's put me in my place, then. I must admit to lacking an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the Suggestions thread, but my search for "secret identity" didn't show me constant discussions of this. At any rate, I'm sorry if it's come up so often before. I will refund the electrons it cost for you to read it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now, now. No need for anyone to get shirty about this.

Birdy was employing some hyperbole when he stated that it got mentioned "once a month". But it does get suggested quite often, along with various ideas about implementation. My own idea is a sort of "inverse raid" technology, such that when you're wandering around in your "secret identity", you don't have access to any of your powers except brawl and the one to switch into your heroic identity (preferably this should have a longish, non-interuptable animation), you are automatically restricted to walking speed, and minions con orange, lieuts red and bosses purple, and they may spontaneously decide to "mug" you (at which point it's pretty much a case of switch to superhero mode, or die).

Further iterations of this idea would include a "well-known-o-meter" - every time you switch from civvy to super while enemies are aggroed on you, the bar fills up - after a certain point, your identity ceases to be "secret", and acts like a an aggro magnet while you're in civvy mode. The bar will naturally decay over time (as the villains forget about the link between your hero and civilian identities), and there may be some way to force it to drop (though that could be exploitable in some way).

The important features of this idea are that enemy groups don't automatically aggro on you, though the city is a dangerous place, and it may enable heroes to get around slightly more safely.

    Just an idea.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
The popular and delightful misconceptions people hold to be true in MMOs really would make an excellent book. It might even be amusing for a game developer to start incorporating some of these ideas into games so that you do get more XP while wearing a red shirt, or while the moon is full, or when the mob is standing in a river, or...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ah, Shadowhunter.

    Heh.

    That one makes me chuckle.

I think we're about due another "Misconceptions in CoX" thread, actually.
  24. Plus with the auto-demotion and promotion of the first person to log in after the SG-specific waiting period (defaults to 15 days), someone else would be promoted to SG leader and be able to pay the rent. Not an issue.
