I'm hoping a dev can give us some clarification on one point. When day jobs were first discussed, they made it sound as though you either "worked at your day job" by logging off in one of the selected spots, or were "on patrol" if you logged anywhere else.

But the announcement makes it sound as though we are always on patrol when we log off. I disagree with that completely. It's enough of a pain to not outlevel some things in the game, like those stupid Safeguard missions. I think it should be one or the other. That way you can log off in a day job zone even if you don't care about it just to avoid the 2xp on alts you want to slow down.

I agree with this entirely. It's hard enough playing through a story arc with a full team without out leveling the contact, and heaven help you if you want to try and do two of them!

I wouldn't mind if they made it optional to get the double XP. But the implication that is automatic really pisses me off.

Personally, I really *like* the content that is out there, and I'd like to be able to explore it with my character. This already means that I run on perma debt and avoid the double XP weekends like the plague. The idea of having to make sure to log him in every day to make sure that he doesn't start gaining "benefits" of being on patrol... *grumble*

*I* like the mission stories... why don't the Devs want us to be able to experience them?

And for the record, I have been playing since the game was released. How many level 50's do I have? 2, and proud of it. Thank you very much. Leveling is not how you "win the game" you win by playing, exploring and having fun in the world that has been created for us.

Apparently, I forgot to write up a patch note on this...mea culpa.

The -Perception portion of Smoke Grenade for Devices is now auto-hit in PVE. The To Hit Debuff and PvP segments of the power still require a 'To Hit' check.

EDIT: There was also a slight change to Cloaking Device which should help with the SG breaking Stealth a bit. Experiment with it some and let me know what you think.

    YES!
I commented to a friend Monday night that I was pritty certain there had been tweaks to smoke grenade & cloaking device. It made for a very enjoyable evening of play!

You still have not shown me a badge I can not earn, except the Isolator.

Did you read either post? I said all of them could be obtained using the sidekick system ... in both posts. Nor did I say solo. Try to do the same thing with a team where all members that were higher then the level of those zones before the respective zone was added. This is my point.

These zones are designed to prevent higher level characters from getting the badge without the assistance of a level appropriate hero. This to me at least, is reinforcement of the idea that one character is not meant to get all badges. If you don't agree with that opinion that is fine. But, I don't understand the point you are trying so hard to prove.

A post-I2 character, started before the halloween event can earn every badge, including Isolator.

A pre-I2 character can also do so, with the exception of Isolator.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never said that was not the case.

Um... just what are you two arguing about?

You both agree that pre I2 toons cannot get isolator, & that it is possible to get all other (hero) badges on any (hero) toon in some fashion.

    Just wondering...

So, based on not being listed on the "list of badge issues",

Having some form of progress list for the Dimensional Warder badge (Praetorian AVs) is not something the Devs are currently looking at implementing?

    <must complain more loudly>

Actually Posi just said that it should have a count already, but that it was impossible to do a check list. (possibly the count is not on live yet?)
  5. Personal opinion on Defiance:
I created my AR/Dev blaster before Defiance existed. It's my main. I level slowly (often on purpose) & take time to enjoy the scenery.

When Defiance was on test I went over & ran a number of missions (solo) to check out the workings of it. I rapidly came to the conclusion that if it was working as intended, it was simply another method of informing me when it's time to get out of the fight or die, for all the reasons listed by others on this forum. I posted my opinion at the time, & waited to see what happened. What happened is that the Devs kept defiance as was, although the adding of +ACC was nice.

It just doesn't work with my playstyle (intelligent) as opposed to Statesman's suggested playstyle. So I simply ignore it. Sometimes I have to remind myself what that extra bar on my status menu is. I was doing just fine before defiance, & I'm doing just fine now. Having an extra bit of color on my screen makes no difference to me.
  6. Played on test over 4-5 days with a L32 AR/devices.

I spent the first couple of hours on Test NOT TRYING to activate Defiance in my play, but was taking notice of how it effected my damage & when/if it came into play. In almost all cases, I would hover at the 0.1 buff range for a couple of shots before my health rose out of it (by tactically disengaging or poping a green). Sometimes I would see the defiance bar spike on my way to death, usually with no attack available at that split second. In no cases did the extra damage from defiance enable me to take out an opponent when I was in the <10% health catagory before I disengaged & ran like hell or was face planted

Realizing that I just was not seeing what this power was really doing to affect my damage, I then spent the next two missions TRYING to see what defiance was really like.

Four bubbles of debt later.... I determined that if this is what defiance was useful for I never wanted to be in a position to use it!

Since then, I've ignored it totally and we get along fine.

    Opinion:
If defiance goes live as is, it's not something I wil be considering in my gameplay at all. The presence of anything in my defiance bar is just another visual signal that it's time to get healed or get out of combat (or both)

If instead the deisre is to turn defiance into something that is actually an advantage for blasters, as opposed to just a bit of storytelling, I recomend the following:

    1) Have the % increase to damage start at a higher blaster HP level & ramp up slower.
    2) Include an accuracy bonus, starting later than the damage increase.
    3) Change/fix the graphics on the defiance & health bars so they more accurately reflect what health percentage and damage bonus you are at & refresh quicker.

And in responce to Statesman's bizzare tactic/stratedy recomendations: WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU THINKING! (spoken as both a blaster & as a defender... and a tanker for that matter)

(Apologies in advance to any blasters who WANT to court death while I'm playing my defender - I take it personal when my teammates health bars start turning colours. Aside from which, you're much more usefull to me staying alive/conscious than taking a dirt nap.)
