    7) No more than 2 melee ATs can be entered. Solo pvp skill includes being able to handle playing squishies too. You may enter as many other AT types as you wish, ie three trollers etc, but to clarify, intotal no more than two of the following ATs: Tanker; Scrapper; Brute, Stalker, Kheldian.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dont think this is a fair rule why should you be able to enter 3 trollers which could rule. But not 3 melee sets even if you wanted to? Its should be no player may enter more than 2 of any AT not just melee thats totally unfair.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The reasoning behind introducing the non 3 melee rule is because, imo, it is the easy option. Lets face it, having 2 stone tanks and a stone brute for example. This wouldnt be a hard challenge to play.

Look at your example of 3 trollers. If someone decides they are strong enough to play three trollers then fair play to them. Bearing in mind they ARE vulnrable against a variety of builds, rad/psi, /en blasters, SR scrappers etc.

I had to balance this with people entering the competion. I cant restrict too many ATs for fear of losing players.

However, if others feel three trollers is unfair, i will reconsider. I will however, be unlikely to change the maximum of 2 melee in total rule. All good pvpers should be able to play a squishie, imo.

It has been a long time coming!

The quest to establish once and for all; who are the best solo pvp'ers in Europe?!

Notoriously, the validity of solo pvp tournaments has always been questioned, and quite rightly so, due to the rock/paper/scissors issues. This, I have thought over for some time, and with the help of useful feedback in the original thread, I believe this tournaments format helps to overcome these issues.

First of all, not all the details will be released today for the following reason: This tournament is designed to test a variety of skills that I think are essential in a roundedsolo pvp'er. These skills include:

    1) Possessing a depth of knowledge about not only the ATs you pvp with, but also any potential AT you could face. Knowing what ATs you are weak against, and being able to adapt and overcome&; those weaknesses, to best your opponent, is a sign of a truly great pvp'er.
    2) Using those enhancement slots wisely; as most pvp'ers will already know, how you slot your toons can make all the difference. In the shadow of I9, the diversity now available to players will really test how well they prepare their toons for pvp.
    3) Adapting to their environments. Most players will know what a difference a map can make to the outcome of some fights. The ability to change your tactics depending on the environment is an essential pvp quality. Initially, the first round of matches will take place in the arena, however, without giving too much away, this may not always be the case.

    Tournament rules and information:

    1) Players must enter at least Three ATs (hero or villain or a mix of both), in the sign up thread Here , by Wednesday June 6th : 18:00 GMT.
    2) Any player entering more than three ATs must have decided which three they are using by Wednesday 6th June, 18:00 GMT. This can be done via a private message, either to myself or Cherry, or by a message in the sign up thread.
    3) Anyone not entered by this time will not be in the tournament. No exceptions.
    4) Anyone who has entered more than three, and does not inform either myself or cherry which ones they will be using, by the closing deadline, will have their final three chosen at random for them!
    5) All matches must be fought at SL50. Your ATs do not necessarily have to be SL50, however all matches will occur at this level.
    6) All matches must take place at Pocked D arena, on the Test Server, unless otherwise specified!!
    8) Inspirations are of course allowed.
    9) On Saturday 9th June, the first round of matches will be announced. You will be matched up against an opponent, and then you will have one week to complete the match. This is a simple knockout triangle tourney. All players (from all servers) will be entered into the same triangle!
    10) Matches will be in the following format:

Each of the players ATs will be assigned a tag for the whole tournament. This tag will be either Rock, Paper or Scissors. Eg. If I was entering (which I can't) then it would look as follows:
    Seriphimus: Rock
    Purple Hazel: Paper
    Nimmer: Scissors
This will be done for you at the start of the tournament.

Players have one week to arrange their match. When both players agree on a date/time, that is then set. Any no shows are disqualified. You have a Maximum of 30mins after the start time to show, or you’re out. I will try to make as many of the matches as I can to referee, but I am unlike to be able to make them all. I suggest you take screenshots at the end of the matches for evidence.

When matches are arranged, the actual fight format is as follows:
    i) First Round: Players face off against one another and roll a dice. The winner is the player with the highest roll (draw=re-roll). The loser then picks the first AT they will fight with and informs their opponent. The winner then gets to choose which AT they wish to use first. Both player then fight.
ii) Second Round: The winner of the dice roll in the first round then has to choose which AT they will use to face their opponent first, and inform their opponent who gets to choose second. Both players must use an AT not already used.
iii) The next match the winner of the dice roll chooses second, loser chooses first. This alternates for the remaining matches unless a 2-2 draw is reached. After a player has used 3 different ATs, ie at a 2-1 scoreline, then for the forth fight they may choose any of the three again for the remaining fight (3-1) or in the event of 2-2 see below (v)
iv) The first player to 3 wins the match!Any drawn matches will result in a point to each player.
    v) In the event of a 2-2 draw the final match will be as follows. Players will perform a Rock/Paper/Scissors in front of one another. Whichever they throw, relates to the assigned Rock, Paper, Scissors AT. Using my example about if I pulled out scissors, I would have to use Nimmer. Both players must then enter a domination match, set to 10 kills, and the first to 10 wins the match. [The only exception to this 2-2 set-up would be an obvious draw fight, ie tank vs tank, where both players agree to this, then they can rethrow r/p/s.]
vi) Results of each fight must be pm'ed to myself or Cherry by the time specified in the match thread.
vii) Finally matches may be split up into more than one night, as long as both players agree beforehand. Players leaving early without permission will be disqualified.
viii) Players who cannot reach an agreement pm me, and ill decide. My decision is final.

Good luck to all brave enough to challenge for the title of the Ultimate Solo pvp champion!

Nooooooesssssss!!!! I'm leaving on summer holidays from late june till late August!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]
righto, ill need a volunteer to pwn 7 over the next couple of weeks, therefore negating the need for him to enter in the first place
  14. The easiest pick up set is regen. The best reason for this is you dont need to rush to get stamina as soon as you can, early on, leaving you free to take some more 'fun' powers.
  15. agreed x mate, although itll be interesting tp see what level c4 takes off...What do you others think? Im still wanting to aim for mid to late june, is that good for all?
  16. Another question that needs to be answered:
How would people prefer the stages to be set?

S4 style: Where player get a few days to organise their next match with the opponent

    or

All turn up on a certain night and bash it out (ooh err)?

Personally i like being able to organise the matches with your opposition. This way, matches are more likely to b arranged!
  17. OK, thanks for all the posts..heres some further news:

    1) Looking to start this around mid to late June

    2) Ive thought long and hard about the hami-o situation ( about 2minutes). Until Chez and I run some test to see if fighting at 40ish in a 50 comp really does make a huge difference, my current train of thought is leaning towards having matches played at 50 after all. The reasons for this are as follows:

    i) Many people already have a few hamios at least on their char.
ii) Only the finals will be played on test
iii) Tourney isnt due to start until mid June, and IO's will be in use by then. Top level uber pvpers need to be adaptive, and in the all new I9 spotlight, this will be put to the test. I dont think there will be time for people to collect enough IO's to create perfect FoTMIO(trademark) builds, and it will be nice to see how people adapt to this.

    3) I need two volunteers to help me organise things on the French and German side.

    4) As for the format, im undecided on the number of fights. Currently arguing the toss on the following two:
    i) First to three. As initially laid out, except if the scores become level at 2 each, then the 5 and deciding match will be a first to ten domination. Chez has made a nice suggestion, that if scores are level at two each, the Toons each player takes into the final match only are decided on an RPS basis ( ie random ).

ii) If this seems a little too long for peeps, then how about first to two? Same rules as normal, cept its first to two.

Ill be emailing Bridger shortly with all comp details to see if we can get some red name endorsement!
  18. first off, a big thanks for the translation! secondly im on my mobile so will post more shortly.

If you have HOs and you exempt they still buff two things . . . dont they?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, so the rule doesn't actually make any difference.

And also, by then people will probably have IO builds as well.

But sounds pretty good to me, although alot of people won't like the 3 44+'s rule.

    [/ QUOTE ]
An interesting point. In all honesty the real reason for the 44+ rule was to encourage people into the tourney with slightly below 50 alts. After all 3 50's is a lot to ask for some people.

    Maybe.

Although, upon reflection, most of teh uber skillz pvpers are likely to have 3 50's or more...

Anyway, thanks for the input guys...keep it coming.
  22. OK, i plan to set up a single player pvp tourney to take place this summer, to allow people to show off their uber skillz in solo pvp.

Now, inherently, solo pvp has always had one fatal flaw: Too many fotm builds having too much of an advantage over other builds. Now to help address this, this is what I plan:

    1) To enter players must have at least 3 level 44+ toons, heroes or villains.
    2) When a match is allocated, each player must face off and roll a dice. The player receiving the highest dice roll gets to choose which AT they would like to start with SECOND.
    3) The two players then fight, and the LOSING player then gets to choose there next toon SECOND. etc etc. Drawn matches mean the person who LOST the first dice roll gets to choose second the next match.
    4) The first player to win THREE separate bouts is then deemed the winner.

    For example.

    Player 1: Andy_75
Toons entered: Purple Hazel (ill/rad), Nimmer (Elec/EN), Black Knight (BS/Reg)

    Player 2: Knight Stalker
Toons entered: Subconcious (mind/storm), Knight Stalker (Sp/reg), Critical shock (elec/elec)

We roll the dice, and I win.
Knight stalker then has to choose first. He takes in Knight Stalker. As I won the roll, i now have the advantage, as i choose second, and I choose Purple Hazel.

The 10 MINUTE match is then played. After winning 76-0, I then have to remain on with the same toon. Knight stalker then gets to choose who he would like to face me with next. He chooses critical shock.

After a close battle, critical shock pips me at the post winning 2-1. So next match I get to choose etc.

Now details are only in the planning stages at the moment. I would like some SENSIBLE, CONSTRUCTIVE feedback if possible. Suggestions will be listened to!

    Some points to consider:
    - Should you be able to enter more than three toons, then the week before your match you must have posted which three you will play ( this would work by each player posting me their entries and me simultaneouly posting the match up on here: IMO this could be a fun and tactical way of doing it..)

    - Should matches be played at 44? I believe so. Why? To negate hamio-s. Eeek! Why! Well this is about single player skill, not who can copy over to test and duplicate HO's. If this was to take place on live i would say allow hamis, but not sure about test - opinins please.

    3) I would love this to be an international event. Could someone please translate this possibly and get some French/German feedback? thanks.

    4) Is this format viable? is first to three too long?

    5) Ideally i would love this to run as a league system, but i fear that may take far too long. A simple knockout may have to be the format.

Lots to consider. Any constructive feedback welcome.
