Thanks for the interest everyone. The group has been sold.

Well, the time has come for me to retire my long-time SuperGroup <Paragon's Knights> and move on to other things, but I feel that the group's name and copious amounts of prestige shouldn't just be discarded, so I've decided to see if anyone's interested in purchasing the group.
It has no members other than myself, the base is wiped clean, and it's sitting at 9,518,706 prestige (for reference, it would cost almost 5 billion influence to buy that much prestige through the inf-to-prestige trading system). If you've ever wanted to start your own SuperGroup with a gigantic base right from the start, this is your chance.
I'm asking for one billion influence for the group, first come, first served. I hope that this works out to be a good deal both for me and for a prospective new SG leader who doesn't want to start their new members out in a "base" the size of a broom closet.
If you're interested in the group, send a tell to @Slid in-game, as I do not check my Private Messages on the forums very often. I'll give the SG to the first person who meets my price, so if you're interested in this group, please let me know as soon as you can in case someone else who wants it gets in touch with me first.
It has the following teleport beacon badges (which I believe is all of them):
- Perez Park
- Boomtown
- Faultline
- The Hollows
- Dark Astoria
- Striga Isle
- Crey's Folly
- Croatoa
- Eden
- Terra Volta
- Kings Row
- Founders Falls
- Peregrine Island
- Galaxy City
- Brickstown
- Rikti War Zone
- Independence Port
- Talos Island
- Steel Canyon
- Skyway City
- Atlas Park

Alright, reading some of the responses makes me see what powers I'm lacking, or not using correctly. I didn't take Light Form, for example. Had no idea it was so good (I try to avoid "godmode" powers on most characters).
I don't like posting builds for characters which clearly need a respec - he doesn't have a "build" so much as he has a lack of a build altogether.
He's Human/Dwarf form right now. I want him to be Human only, but the lack of Mez protection is so crippling that I needed Dwarf, at the very least, to feel like I was even able to fight anybody with a Mez. Maybe with Incarnate stuff I'll make him a monoform, but for now I've got to keep the Dwarf.
I care more about him being useful than about being monoform though.
Should I take Nova? -
So, I have a level 38 Peacebringer I really like the concept for. He's a blast to roleplay, and his powers look and feel cool.
Of course, he's about as powerful as a limp dishrag. He dies faster and more often than any other character I have, deals less damage than my Trick Arrow/Dual Pistols Defender, and gets his *** handed to him by a single Quantum if I'm not extremely careful (and sometimes even then).
I know nothing you tell me will turn him from a gimped AT into an unstoppable badass (like every other character I HAVE), but... I'm not willing to give him up. He needs to be able to solo and not risk dying in a -1/x1 mission. He needs to be able to provide value to a team.
And I don't know how.
Please. Tell me something. Help me save my Peacebringer. -
Virtue will basically remain intact. Freedom will lose a lot of players to the VIP server, and every other server will be basically cleaned out of all players.
Virtue's the only server where roleplay binds people to a specific "universe" (the Virtue 'verse). -

Quote:Ok, THIS is the response I was hoping for.Bottom line, Grav is a perfectly functional control primary. It may be the weakest control primary, but that's far from making it the weakest powerset. Slot for damage, play your grav controller like a single target blaster on steroids, and you won't go wrong.
So, Grav isn't weak, it's just not very control-heavy, is that right? -
I recently rolled a Grav/Psi dom, and I've been asking around, trying to get input on how good the powersets I've chosen are. He's going to be Psionic Mastery once he's high enough.
And I've received a terrifying onslaught of responses along the lines of "Gravity is the worst Dominator primary," and "Dude, Gravity? Sorry to hear that."
I've also heard some people tell me Gravity is pretty good for doms.
So, how bad is Grav? I've taken him to lvl 26, just picked up Wormhole but haven't had a chance to really use it yet.
Should I reroll with different powersets? Is Gravity so terrible it underperforms, even with IOs? -
Quote:They made it so Spiritual doesn't buff its recharge? >_>I don't think it's affected by Fury, nor is it affected by the damage scalars each AT gets.
The only way to improve on Judgement is through your alpha slot, excluding the Recharge from Spiritual which does not help.
So you can increase the damage, acc or end cost through Alpha choice.
Bleh. Now I need to switch my Nerve boost to a Musculature so I can hit harder with Judgement... -

Do different archetypes deal different amounts of damage using the same Judgement ability, no buffs?
For example, does a Tanker hit as hard with Pyronic Judgement as a Scrapper?
If they deal the same damage regardless of AT, I will always make Brutes from now on because Fury will buff Judgement to godlike levels. O_o -
-
I only have Judgement unlocked now. I'll provide my best description of what all four Judgement attacks look like. Can anyone else fill me in on what the powers of the other three trees look like? Especially the Interface procs.
What I really want is to know if the Interface procs can be colored. It'll look extremely odd for a character with ice powers who wants a Resist Debuff to cover his enemies in fire...
Pyronic Judgement
The player raises his/her right hand, and from their palm, a MASSIVE burst of fire flies forth to strike the target, where it explodes in a colossal inferno of destruction. All affected targets have flames (the same color as the blast, customizable) surrounding them for a while afterward, and strange-looking ash marks cover a huge radius on the ground.
Cryonic Judgement
The player raises his/her left hand, and icy spikes appear on both hands and arms. A swirling vortex of ice and coldness shoot out, freezing all foes caught in the AoE.
Ionic Judgement
The player raises both hands over his/her head, and crackling electricity blasts upwards from their hands into the sky. Then, a lightning bolt bursts downward to strike the initial target, and jumps rapidly to strike all other enemies.
Void Judgement
The player throws both arms open wide, similar (perhaps identical) to the animation for Nova, from the Energy Blast set. A spherical burst of darkness (colorable) blasts forth, striking all enemies nearby. -
Quote:I have this issue too. I have a character who is a loyal servant of Praetoria and wants to ensure Praetoria's dominance over all worlds. When GR launched, I made a few Praetoria versions of some characters. My old main, Polish Princess, was recreated as Polish Eagle who dreamed of bringing a New Poland to prominence. Her thought was that, upon the conquest of Primal Earth, she could be given Eastern Europe to oversee (as a Queen, Praetor, Administrator or whatever) under Cole's empire. Therefore, it was in her best interest to see Cole win since a free Earth wasn't likely to give her half of Europe.
Unfortunately, she has no option to work for Cole past level 20 so the whole concept was shelved.
But of course there is no option to fight for this goal, so I'm stuck wondering what to do with him. -
No, but we're bored of people who complain about how they're better than all the "newbies" but nobody respects them for it.
-
Quote:This precisely.Off the cuff, I'm going to guess the "Invasion from Bizarro World" thing.
Personally, I just find Statesman to be one of the most uninspiring, uninteresting characters in the CoH canon and, by extension, "Big Jerk Statesman" isn't exactly pushing my thrill button.
If the Going Rogue content was all about something else (like an alien invasion rather than a Praetorian invasion which makes no sense), I probably wouldn't be bored already. The Praetorian "bizarro world" is a good side-plot, as I said. It just isn't nearly robust enough to be the main plot like they're trying to make it. -

Quote:I thought about that too. And I like that idea a lot.Or possibly our enemy is actually the Well itself, and it has completely taken control of Cole.
But, of course, they haven't told us that. So, again, it's the fans and players coming up with rationalization, not the writers presenting us with cool stories (...yet. Maybe they'll do this in the future, and have a "big reveal" where we see that Cole is just a puppet, who knows?).
I'm just worried that Praetoria is all we're going to see for the near future in new content. -
Another thing I forgot to mention: Praetoria first appealed to me because it offered a moral "gray area" and you could create heroic Loyalists and villainous Resistance just as easily as you could make an evil Loyalist and a noble, good Resistance.
Of course, that got thrown utterly out the window when Cole stopped being "questionable" and "Machiavellian" and was established as utterly and completely evil, and the main antagonist of two universes. His motivations originally were "create a utopia for the good of all, at the cost of some of their freedoms" which, while twisted, is something we actually see to a lesser extent in real life, and it's a good debate point. Is it right to sacrifice some rights (like in the Patriot Act and the privacy debate about the TSA) to protect our lives?
But now his motivations are "slaughter own citizens, kill everyone with powers in Primal Earth, rule all universes." All debate is gone, and he just ceased to be an interesting antagonist.
Quote:I could buy that. Unfortunately, the writers tell us nothing of this, so it's purely fans rationalizing the lack of information we get to find a way of fitting it into what's already established for the game.I don't think it's a case of him controlling it, more that he doesn't care about (or is willing to accept, at least temporarily) the well controlling *him*, whereas States and Recluse have both gone out of their way to try and reduce the amount of influence the well has over them. -
So is anyone else bored of the new obsession with Praetoria?
I admit, it's a great addition to the game, adding a third place to create your characters, and the 1-20 content there is excellent, if a bit stressful given that you can't form SGs and feel constantly hounded to leave the source of this new content. Then you're not even given the choice to stay (yes, I know you technically CAN stay, if you want to accept never getting your own missions again, and survive off of lvl 20 teams which bring you along as you grind to 50 just for a badge).
However, why the hell is Praetoria the source of all the new Incarnate content? What makes Cole so powerful that he can CONTROL the Well of the Furies? Why can't Statesman or Recluse do that?
Praetoria is a great side-plot, but the writers are trying hard to turn it into the only plot, and quite frankly, it's not interesting enough and certainly not broad-scoped enough to support every single level 50 character's story (those who bought the expansion pack, at least).
Apex and Tin Mage were great. They're fun TFs with a VERY epic feel, especially the climactic battle against that @%#$& Battle Maiden. The difficult battles I suffered through when we were still learning how to handle her makes it extremely viscerally satisfying to kick her butt into next week now that we've gotten a bit better.
But we do NOT need more Praetorian-based Incarnate content this soon. Please, make i21 and i22 about Hamidon or Rularuu or a brand-new threat, or ANYTHING but Praetoria. Return to Praetoria once there's more going on than just a really boring "durr, I be evil tyrant" villain with more power than makes sense. Cole doesn't even inspire fear like Recluse does, he's just... prim and proper and inexplicably more powerful than the most powerful cosmic force in the universe.
The final thing I want to say is "Where the heck is the motivation for my villains to help save a world that they don't even LIVE IN!?" Villains are SELFISH. They are EVIL. They are NOT altruistic and they are NOT self-sacrificing. Yes, exceptions can exist.
But WHY does the game expect that my villains will head into Praetoria to save its people, when I shouldn't have to care a bit about their lives or well-being?
TL;DR:
Give us more varied content. Praetoria is being over-used right now. -
Quote:Mine's not even a Widow in terms of character concept. Her name is Symbiotic Suit. Guess why?¿How many of you does have a Night Widow/Fortunata/Bane Spider/Crab Spider, with a non-human look? I know all of them are Natural origin, but obviously natural does not mean human only. It can be from Aliens to Vampires. Most of the SoA's that i have saw, are human looking and it will be interesting to know how many of you does have one which is a non-human character concept.
She gets her powers from a living, psychic suit which covers most of her body, and can produce thin envenomed spines from her fists.
The catch is, she's not really in control of her body at the moment. The suit's dominated her completely, and uses her body to work towards its own objectives. However, it's a very young example of its species, and doesn't understand the world very well. It constantly "befriends" the villains it encounters, savagely fighting to "protect" them. Some clever villains have used this to their advantage, turning the crazed, symbiotic killing machine against whoever they'd most like perforated by toxic needles at the moment.
Eventually she'll be captured by a Super Group while on a Mayhem Mission in Paragon City, who will extract her from the suit... only to discover that neither she nor it can survive when separated for too long. She will strike a deal with the suit, allowing it to use her body to survive (and search for its imprisoned parent, a much older and more powerful symbiote currently being studied by Crey), as long as it shares control with her.
