  1. My bet is that IF they ever have a player controlled animal rig it would be in the form of a new epic archetype, it would be for sale on the market and it would have different options in the costume creator similar to Arachnos PCs. You would probably be able to choose a wolf or big cat look and color accordingly but likely no major costume parts apart from say collars and leg bands. They may split these into two unique parts of an archetype like Peacebringers and Warshades so you'd choose wolves or cats.

They would have their own unique powersets which would likely involve a melee primary with powers like bites, lunges, slashes and tackles as well as some range type dashes and leaps. The secondary would probably be more along the lines of a defense, stealth, resistance and some group buffs similar to Arachnos but with a more animal twist say like a boost to perception because animals have superior hearing and smell and would not be as easy to stealth or blind.

Their would probably also be unique powers in either primary and secondary like a roar for fear or a howl for boosting damage. Things like that.

I really think they'd want to avoid the whole Krypto the super dog thing because it appeals to a limited audience. Playing as an animal in general would appeal to a smaller group and they would not want to further specialize that group by then making them unrealistic. The max bang for the buck would be a new epic archetype that would be something similar to what I described above.

That's just my two cents and how I'd do it if I was them.

I don't think it would be financially even feasible to go with porting powers to them.
  2. I've had a theory for a while now that Staff melee is coming soon, mostly because I figured that the "Talk Pool" emote was sort of a practice run for a Staff melee animation.

    Just a theory though.
  3. I'm all for option 1. Less menu clutter and menu work means that more things get updated over a shorter period of time because more time can be devoted to working on updating the costume pieces. Also less things that I'll never use anymore that I don't have to sift through.

Honestly, I don't really like to use too many of the older legacy pieces anymore because they look too dated alongside the more recent pieces. Especially hair, there are a few old favorite hairstyles that I'd love to use, but because they look so blocky and low textured next to the newer ones I never do anymore; I always opt for the newer pieces.

I think it is logical to assume that the developers have collected data on the popularity of pieces and can chart the decline in popularity overtime as better texture models came out. I would think that they would adjust the pieces in some order of popularity. Which again points back to option 1, the more time the developers have to focus on the updates, the greater likelihood that whatever piece a given person is hoping for will get updated.

In short, I think the devs have made the right decisions on what looks good based on what has been produced thus far, so I see no problem trusting the team to fix the out dated options and no need to keep the old ones once they are done.

I mean I lost 120lbs this year, and I didn't keep my old clothes just because I liked a shirt. A shirt that was 4X looks like a poncho on me now, so I got rid of it because I'd never use it again. So if we aren't likely to use a costume piece there is no reason to keep the old ones around. This is City of Heroes; not City of Hoarders.

I like that idea, maybe plaster going out of business sales on the store fronts and having broken down cars in the parking lot. With the RIP patrolling the parking lot and attacking villains as they enter (but not inside the mall...that would be too annoying).

Um...actually I did not know that...which means that poor controller I created who had to run up to Steel and died 3 times did so in vain...oh well.

If they were to ever make Galaxy into a shopping district like zone an Icon would be a must though just to fit the concept.
  6. I'd like to see Galaxy City turned into a futuristic shopping district with a huge mall and fancy bar and grills. Something kind of half sub-urban, as most US Cities have a belt of suburbia around them, could exist on the other end of the zone away from the mall. It would provide a nice contrast to Atlas. It might be cool to place enhancement vendors of all types and levels in the various stores in the mall. This way people would have a reason to go to Galaxy other than for Respecs and some missions. Maybe place an ICON in there for those lowbies who messed up on an element of their costume and don't want to try and make it to the one in Steel to fix the error. You could have a store in the mall that would access the NCSoft Store to buy booster packs or something too.

Tons of things you could do with a mall.

Excellent Idea I will use the same tactic going forward, Thanks.
  8. The custom colors I changed on my alternate costumes for all of my characters have reset. I've had to make Icon the first stop for all of my characters when logging them in so I can get the power colors right for all their alt costumes. I don't know if this is unique to me or if others are experiencing this as well (I searched the forum and did not find a post describing this, but I may have missed it).

Anyways, its not a huge issue because of all the free tailor tokens that I hoard, but if someone could look into this I'd be grateful.
  9. I don't get why you think NCSoft should lower its cost simply because YOU think the monthly fee is too high. I understand it is just a suggestion, and I'd wager you thought most of us would agree and are now shocked to discover the contrary.

Honestly I can sympathize with your situation, while I was in College I couldn't afford to play games that required a subscription...so I didn't...I didn't suggest the game manufacture or host lower the cost so that I could indulge. I soldiered on knowing that one day I would be able to afford it.

Now that I'm several years removed from college and thanks to hard work (and a small amount of luck) I can honestly say that I don't even notice the 2 $14.99 monthly withdrawls (I have two accounts) when they come out of my bank account.

Work hard and apply yourself and you'll get there too. Don't ask for a company to change its policies for you, change your own situation to meet the requirements they have in place.

Then you can join the other posters in agreeing that 14.99 is really a small amount of money for unlimited access to a game of this scale.

On a side note, if a game is 5 years old it only increases the value of your subscription. The game obviously does more right than wrong; the proof being that it can hold on to enough subscribers at the current cost per month to remain profitable.
  10. I would like to see the story behind Boomtown, which may go along with a re-do of that zone, because it badly needs it.
  11. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about for a majority of the power sets that are not weapon based regarding the desire to customize. With fire, ice, storm and earth type powers I thought the developers did a good job at capturing what those should look like. I really can't think of a super hero who is like Purple fire guy, or Orange Ice dude. However radiation, energy, sonic, electricity and other more subjective powers I understand.

What I propose is a compromise of sorts. If the team were to look at the amount of powers where color customization would make sense versus trying to fit it in to every power (where it kinda doesn't really need to be done) then it might be easier to get it accomplished.

I know that there are a multitude of people that will disagree with the above, but I think that it might just provide us with a happy medium. Players who want a Purple energy blast can get it, but those who want a green fire blaster could settle for a green energy blaster.
