I've had a problem that's been giving me grief on a couple of toons for a week or more now.
I first petitioned it just after the start of the new year. It's clearly been a big issue to resolve, but, after a lot of emails it's fixed.
The thing is, the GMs with whom I dealt have worked really hard to fix this problem - there's a lot of man hours went into this, and I can tell this because of the content of the mails they sent, offering different solutions. The guys I've dealt with have always been polite, helpful, as prompt as can be (and if they weren't able to respond as swiftly as we'd all have liked they were apologetic and explained the reasons for the delay.)
Throughout the problem, I never felt that it was too much trouble for them to help me - in fact the reverse is true, and it's finally fixed and they were genuinely appreciative of the feedback I gave them.
It just gave me a great feeling: Genuinely good customer service, good comunication, a problem fixed and a happy customer. There's a lot of organisations could learn from the backroom team in CoH we take for granted, so thanks to from me to the guys who really keep the game running.
GMs Rock! -
They are very effective against Hamidon if everyone has them and uses them correctly

Quote:There are 10 types of people: Those who understand binary and those who don't.There's an old android saying which I feel is particularly relevant to this situation. It goes: '0010101011010010110100111100101010100101101100010 1010'
Roughly translated, it means 'Don't stand around jabbering when Rikti are invading"
For those who will try and translate the binary, as far as I know it's gibberish, it's just a quote from Red Dwarf that I wanted an excuse to use. -

Oh the weather outside : frightful,
But the fire : so delightful,
And since we've : no place to go,
Let : Snow! Let : Snow! Let : Snow!
It doesn't show signs : pausing,
And I've bought some corn : popping,
The lights are turned : way down low,
Let : Snow! Let : Snow! Let : Snow!
When we finally kiss : goodnight,
How I'll hate going out : the storm!
But if you'll really hold : me tight,
All the way home : I'll be warm.
The fire : slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still : good-bying,
But as long as you: love me so,
Let : Snow! Let : Snow! Let : Snow!
Just keep safe while we endure this fresh batch of bad weather! -
69 should be reward in and of itself. Once you come up for air, that is.
I lolled at the 6 merits for the 72 reward. That's cute, but I'm not sure how it works. Is it a one time bonus of 6 whole merits as you claim the reward or do you get +6 merits every time you get merits? I suspect the former, but hope springs eternal for the latter. -

Quote:I think we're going to see mod (and Dev) controlled Rikti attacking us, along with a proper mothership in the sky.
In other words, a return to the end of Beta event.
Players vs Devs in the ultimate PVP event?
Do the Devs even know what they've let themselves in for? -
The posters "Earth for Humans" telling us to report strange activity continue to remain. It could well be that this is Paragon's "Secret Invasion"
The real question is, who gets to be our "Norman Osborne"? -
I'm calling the Valentine Event!
We're gonna get: special Rikti Leurve!! -
This reminds me of a moomintroll story I remember from years back. It was about an old troll who collected stamps but then he got to a stage where he'd got every stamp, ever. So he became really sad because he owned them but had nothing more to collect. The challenge of collection was what motivated him, rather than the acquisitions themselves.

Some good points, and some silly ones.
Hyperstrike makes a good point, that it's not going solve the problem but the best analogy to that is making sure you lock your car. A car thief is going go home with a car that's not his, just make sure he's not going to go home in yours.
The simplest way for NCSoft to implement this would be to make it part of a pack with a shiny badge, a useful power (a la Jump Pack, Sands of Mu etc etc) and a months game time all for $12.99 or the other equivalents.
Then anyone who's genuinely into the game will get it and they will be a lot more secure than those who don't.
I'm personally not in favour of mandatory enforcement - I believe in personal choice but if it's readily implementable for a low cost and can do something cool for your characters, the go for it! -

ok first off, good post. Some hard data, and a reasonable extraolation based on the numbers.
Caveat: I have not read every post in this thread.
However, a couple of points - I'd suggest that subs are more important than box sales, especially when in the UK, boxes are like rocking horse excrement. It's incredibly difficult to buy this game from a shop. (I won't say impossible because someone will pipe up and say "There's an independant games retailer in Royston Vasey that's got 2 copies - but that really is about it.) WoW is everywhere, but CoH is nowhere to be seen. If you didn't know it existed, you wouldn't know it existed.
I don't know how that compares to the RoW but I'm guessing it's not a unique position. I sincerely hope that GR actually corrects that and continues to grow the game - but history tells me I'm gonna be disappointed.
One sign I have seen that tells me the game is doing ok, and this is a weather vein not many have accounted for: I'm getting lots of ingame mail from Chinese Gold Sellers again, after a dearth over the last 4-5 months. This tells me two things: 1 there are people buying inf on my server, and that the sellers are actually making a profilt. That is one (offbeat but valuable) method of telling how well the game's going. Parasites rarely stick around if the host is dead. -
As someone who plays every day I can tell you that the server I play on is a lot less active than it was six months back. My global list, which is quite extensive is way down on active players and I've had a number of people in game make similar observations.
I am more than willing to accept that there may be a lot of people who are subscribed but not playing. That to me indicates they are bored with the game, and if GR - when it eventually arrives - fails to live up to the already heavy burden of expectation placed on it, then the game is in serious trouble. Those players who are not in love with the game will rinse through the content and move on to the next one. There'll be a sudden flurry of activity and then boom back to current user levels.
One thing that people have also neglected to take into account - which I feel is significant in this subject, is that GR is a paid expansion. So whether or not 224 days or 226, some people won't be getting the update. For them, the wait between the last Issue and the next will be even longer. -
Quote:Infected have spawned in both Atlas Park and Galaxy City since at least August, 2007, when I first started looking at updating VidiotMaps. They're only in a couple neighborhoods, and probably only spawn at night, which is why they're not noticed much.
This was definitely day time -
I aways take the axe unless for specific character based reasons.
A couple of things not mentioned: The axe does less damage but its recharge time is so much lower that it effectively balances out.
Also I understand that the axe gets a +5% acc bonus to compensate for the redraw - so overall your chances of damaging an enemy at low level (which is when you really need it) is much improved.
You're going to have to decide what you prefer for yourself, but here's a suggestion: Make 2 identical toons, one with sands, one with axe. Go to Outbreak, and get the Isolator badge. Then delete the one you like the least. -

Sadly I didn't think until it was too late to get a screeny, but on a new toon with a buddy we encountered a brace of Infected, a Blighted and Stricken Scavenger.
This was significant because it was in Atlas Park, down by the warehouses near the Perez Park entrance. I've never sene it before and it looks like it was just the two... but there are serious ramifications to this... are the Heroes losing the fight? Has Arachnos gotten the formula into Atlas and turning people into Infected?
Is it simply a bug? I can't see how it could be. Had a scoot around and couldn't see any more... but it's worrying. -
Would also need some research done to ensure that it wasn't an enemy group that could be confused with any other pre-existing group from comic lore or wider popular culture.

Quote:Might I respectfully suggest, then, that you contact our Riktified mods via PM and ask if either a) there's an email address to which you can submit suggestions to the Marketing Department, or b) ask if they might be willing to FORWARD an email on your behalf to the Marketing Department? For that matter, ask if c) submitting a ticket to the GMs might be acceptable?
(BTW, I mention that latter because of my time working technical support when people would use the online troubleshooting submission forms to air their grievances about us, our products, or our services - it was part of my job to either address them myself or direct them to the higher-ups that handled said matters.)
I think we have, as CLEARLY demonstrated through direct observation, proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Marketing Department does not read these forums. Standing here howling like rabid wolves high on angel dust, demanding information and pretty much threatening to leave if we don't get it, is having about as much effect as me persuading the Mississippi to detour through Nebraska.
I am not denying anyone's right to an opinion - I'm not denying anyone's right to air it here (so long as it abides by forum rules, otherwise said Riktified mods will come and smack it down). I am hoping people will realize that these forums are NOT the means to get Marketing to listen.
BTW, Arcanaville, I tried to rep you again and got told to spread it around first.

Sadly I don't think "marketing" in this game even has a pair of ears.
