  2. I've posted on Gen Discussion in the hope more see it. Hope we can get some good support for it
  3. Too late for that but how about Boxing Day? Ski Slopes is Good!! How does 3pm sound?

    IOs??? O_o

Good description... but remember that the bonuses of Invention IOs will typically be higher per individual enhancement than Sets. If choosing Sets it pays you to research what you need and what's available throughout the entire range. It can take a bit of doing so don't be scared to experiment and don't worry about messing up it happens to all of us.
  5. I think part of the issue surrounding bases is they've never been really used as originally intended, with raids etc and the CoP trial etc. So it's been put on the back burner a bit. At the moment a base is fundamentally a place that looks pretty and gives you some nice to haves such as teleporters and workshop buffs.

They are great for RP but aside from that they don't add a massive amount to game play at present

How about doing something we haven't done in a gods age on defiant, a massive group server picture? Maybe of everyone in they're festive outfits or even just a mass opening of temp presents?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    really like that idea
  7. The title says it all.

Any special events we should know about? TFs, Trials, etc etc

    Keep it.

Elec/Elec has two great things going for it, the holds and the -End

If you're going to use it to PVP you need to hold and sap. Damage becomes far less important because if they are held/have no end/both they ain't gonna touch you.

End mods & hold SOs/IOs are your friends. The Epic pool has some great holds (and good damage too)

Ther's a good guide available entitled "How to be a Sapper" from somebody who pwnd most PVPers with an Elec/Elec/Elec. Unfortunately I can't remember his name and as I'm not a dedciated PVPer then I can't tell you all the secrets but good luck
  10. Our base is totally Tech and it looks fine in there. I've got a monitor for it and a control console. I think we just have to accept that not everything has square edges even in a tech base
  11. Thanks to everyone who came, hope you all had a great time... we certainly did!
  12. If you know of Shock Tactics (you might do... we've been known to RP on Defiant, just cuz) we have a sub group called "Ultrashock" who are, in effect the "Black Ops" division of the main group. We've not managed to make a massive impact with them at this time but... the opportunity is there... so if you need a place to explore a story of this nature then drop by sometime and say hi

Was it really a year ago? *watches time fly*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep it really was... quite scary when you think about it huh Prox?
  14. Truly excellent and inspiring!
  15. Last party we had ended up in our base but Pocket D is as good a place to start as any
  16. It's odd but it was a year ago that Scarlet hit the big Five 0

Perhaps, or not, it's simply a coincidence that Issue 11 lands on the first anniversary of her big ding. Either way, just one is a great excuse for party! And if you've ever been to a Shock Tactics party you know what to expect: a great party, wonderful atmosphere, a free bar, great people and of course, excellent music courtesy of RadiOlympus.

So, Saturday, 1st December, it's a big big party. A huge issue has landed and a great excuse to celebrate Scarlet's birthday -There will be comps, prizes and shed loads of fun and let's celebrate a great City of X year

Come join us. Everyone's welcome. If you don't have a toon on Defiant you've got the perfect excuse. If you got one (or several) already, then you have no excuse. Your fave DJs at www.radiolympus.com (who love CoX as regular listeners already know) will be there and bringing you some excellent tunes.

Prizes, PVP and a Party... it's all happening on 1st December. Be there or be a right angled parallelogram

    Defiant

Our SG, Shock Tactics, seems to do quite a bit. We're always happy to have others join us!
  18. Well thus far my PVP experience has been pretty limited, primarily to Friday Night Fight Club (well I did invent it, after all) but I always get pwnd in the zones. Maybe that's the best advice, just go into the zones and see what happens
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, the debuffs are good in PVE, but in PVP not many people will be relying on Defense powers, due to the fact that defense has so many "Kryptonite's". Basically Defense powers have 2 weaknesses, defense debuffs and tohit buffs, both of which are abundantly available(anyone has access to Tactics for example). This is the main reason why people prefer Resistance over Defense. Resistance only has Resistance Debuffs to deal with and even then there's less powers that do -res debuff than there are powers that do -defense debuff.

Rad Blast is basically 1 big Kryptonite to any Defense based players, but unfortunately not many people are dumb enough to rely that much on defense. Still you'll be able to floor anyone's defense with just your tier 1 and tier 2 powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then I guess the next question is, would I be better making a toon with a different secondary? (and if so, what?)
  20. Ok lots to think about guys.

One other question: Why does everyone hate Repel? I've found it to be good in PVE - and surely it's good vs Stalkers?
  21. I tried to load that build into Mids, but for the life of me can't find the clipboard. I'm clearly missing the obvious.

I notice lots of you are focussing on the Kin element but I've always found the rad side to be very effective too - damage is ok but debuffs are mad! Within a team my Rad element has been more valuable I reckon (aside from the normal cries of "SB plx")
  22. well I'd not considered what "type" of PVP, but my most frequent PVP experience has been arena based but I'd like to spend more time in the zones

I'm obviously gonna have to think about that. My main experience of PVP has been with Scarlet Shocker, my elec/elec/elec but I've never been very successful, primarily because I want her to be more "general"

I'll be slotting with IOs, primarily sets. (I already have many of them)

I'm not really doing this to to get an "uber PVP rep" but rather to spend marginally more time having fun in the PVP zones and arena than being face down or in the medical facilities
  23. Good people

Having gotten Proton Rush, my kin/rad defender to the big five-ho, I've decided to turn him into my main PVP toon. Given that I've got quite limited experience with PVP and no dedicated toons, I'd be really interested in build guides, slotting and sets etc, as well as experiences so that I can try and turn him into something worthy of the PVP name.

    Cheers
