I did my own math and I make that 30,000 subscribers. Am I out of touch or does that sound low?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Sounds about right to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not been reading the financial reports every quarter then? 30,000 isn't accurate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

30000 is for Vigilance isn't it? That's the smallest server

Well, he does have a point, MA might bring a lot of creative people back into the game, and even a bunch of new people. How many MMOs do you get the chance to actually make content in yourself?

Sure, *I* would personally rather see some serious dev created *new* content, but I'm not gonna go on a moaning rampage today!

    ...well, not yet, at least!

    [/ QUOTE ]

ok I'm interested: Why specifically Dev created content? If something passes muster does it matter who wrote it? If it's that good, it should get turned into a proper arc anyhow.

More to the point tho, I was concerned about how lackluster and downbeat his response to the question was. As tho the Dev team are really excited by the product but not expecting it to drive new revenue. That's a borked business model if ever I've seen one.

Folks, please keep in mind that linking to content that is obtained in violation of our EULA is against the forum rules. I've removed the link from the French thread.

Careful folks, GR has his nerf bat out this week...

I bet I'm the only person on here who can say Ghost Raptor nerfed my boobies! and now this :O

Saying that feels a lot better by the way

{edited to add} yes I'll almost certainly buy it. Even if I don't like the cossie in it's complete form, the boosters and wedding packs so far have been great additions and work brilliantly if you take bits from each
  5. Three or four FREE updates a year is nothing to be sneezed at - especially when you consider the subscription for CoX is significantly lower than many other games.

One thing that did strike me as odd was this statement:
    [ QUOTE ]

For me, personally, if we maintain our subscriber base -- because we have a very healthy subscriber base, where it's at, I don't expect our numbers to drop with this feature. I don't think we really have expectations. I never had a conversation with anyone that went "If you don't bring in an extra 200,000 subscribers from this, this is a failure." Our game is doing really well. We're well past where we need to be for our subscriber base. So this is a feature we're excited about. Are our numbers going to go up? We hope so. At the end of the day, if it went up by 2 or 200,000, though, it's still a success for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's incredibly low key especially for a game that's just about to launch a ground breaking update and a new purchasable box. If I read between the lines I see "we've got an [censored] good product and a very loyal user core, but if this doesn't up the figures I don't know what the [censored] will. If it wasn't for the rest of the interview, I'd be keeping half an ear out with the expectation of an announcement saying NC are selling the game off - but the rest is the normal upbeat marketing talk.
  6. I think you're suffering from the reason I've tried as much as possible to avoid the stats thing.

I hope I've been reasonably successful... I still enjoy playing and even with 8 50s there's new stuff to try. Make a toon you've never tried... after 3 years I'm finally playing (and enjoying) a brute and a tank.

The "Oooh" factori for me can never be found on paper - it comes from finding what the toon plays like when everything's gone horribly wrong and the smelly brown had impacted with the rotating device.

Try something different and improbable... and forget about what others feel about it - it's your toon after all - and if you can, unlearn all you know about stats
  7. The lightbulb is not faulty in any way - however many players felt the light was a bit bright and so the Devs shall be introducing a new feature known as "lamp shade"

This will have the knock on effect of making it far harder to see - thus adding mystery to the game, thus increasing the time it takes for a player to get bored with the lightbulb. The Lampshade enhancement goes live when you least expect it.
  8. I shall probably remake an arc or 2 I made on test and then I shall engage in arcs made by others. I might even create a toon especially to go from 1 to 50 in MA
  9. Interesting idea. Could work but It'd need some kind of nomination process I think... maybe something like the Creative Genius nominations?
  10. ... you pass on tickets to the first day of the Ashes test at Lords because there's a Hamidon raid on!

(no, I'm not THAT addicted )
  11. I hate the new I14 Lightbulbs.

I want to go back to the pre-I9 versions. They were much better!!
  12. I taunt the lightbulb and faceplant because I'm a blaster

wow.. I woke xanthus out from his sleep long enough for him to take unhappy pills. I should get a prize or something.
  14. The queue in Tescos is so long you summon a pet or minion to wait in the line for you.

Somebody annoys you in the pub and you nova

you use your repulsion field in crowded places, just in case.

You pick up the latest issue of your favourite comic and decide that the hero's a complete wimp and you could do so much better

you can't decide who's the biggest idiot: your form tutor or Statesman

Ghost Widow's totally got it over Jolene Blalock

Someone starts causing trouble in the pub and you first taunt then confuse and the problem's resolved

You're seriously considering a career in landscape gardening when you retire from being an Earth troller.

I'm sure you guys can think of others

Three years in and I still love this game.

Thanks to NC, to the support team and most of all, to you guys who've made this game experience as good as it has been for me!

Now, don't sully my comic genius with their names any more, you silly English person, or I shall have to taunt you!

640k of RAM?! Bah, I remember the days when we had 8k and 16k if we were lucky (and after a great big soldering job)!

    [/ QUOTE ]

8K!! LUXURY!! I used to DREAM of having 8K of RAM, I did!

I had to make do with 1K, AND I had to build the thing myself, AND it used to reset itself randomly, usually just before you saved a shedload of machine code you'd spent the last 6 hours writing!

And if it DID manage to save the code, you could guarantee that the code wouldn't actually WORK next time you reloaded it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

So it was you that wrote the code for windows then?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the occasional monty python script too by the sound of it

My one concern about this is how old is Ms Liberty?

That's not Ms Liberty, that's Miss Liberty, you know, the mother of Ms Liberty and the son of the biggest jerk on Earth.

    you have kids now?
