I'm the odd one I guess, I like the first one better. His stance with the arms crossed seems a little sturdier of a piece to me. Something about his hips/waist nags me in the second one. His hand also looks a little odd to me as well. The fingers are a little thin and long (though I may be seeing them wrong) while his hand is short and stubby.

Don't get me wrong, they both look really good! I just like the first, and nothing really looks 'off' to me.

Wow, thats great! I really like what you did with her hair / background. I stink with hair, and you made it all flowing and shiney. Very nice!

However! *strikes a triumphant pose* I have the answer!
You see, I built this computer with portions of my old computer, as well as new. So I have a new hdd that runs windows, and then the old hdd with all the legacy files/crap from my old computer. So, what I forgot is what the shortcut was doing is... dun dun dun... pointing to the old CoH version on the old hdd! Since it hasn't been updated, it doesn't have the horn crown costume piece, hence, it wasn't showing up.

I swear, that character is sure as hell living up to his name! Hes the first character I've ever encountered a hole in the geometry with. A post about said hole got answered by a redname. Now, hes causing havok in the demo scene. Whats his name? Quantum Enigma. Freaky...

This is theory, and has yet to be proven. Though it will require a lot more Gesso to be entirely sure...


Seriously though, the piece is coming along splendidly! I love the coloring you've added to The Imperial so far. I wish I could say something a bit more coherent, or relevant to the piece, but I'm honestly not savy at all with colors. So I'll sit here, look silly, and give you a thumbs up!

Broken demos? Bah. Still doesn't explain why the shortcut trick would work, but not the launcher. They're invoking CoX the same way I imagine...

I don't think it's my settings either. These are the settings I used. After starting it, I uncheck the "Fullscreen", use the [ ... ] button to find the file I want, then launch to run it.


By the way, it's not loading lag either, as that is about a minute in, and my computer shouldn't be having any lag issues (3 gb of RAM, well 4, but windows only sees 3 of it). Makes no... freaking... sense!

Indeed, she was part of the influence for my character, and originally some personality as well. Now apart from looks, they're pretty disimilar. Alita always kept some of her 'humanity,' even during her darkest times. Atillita has had a very rough past (was born for the sole purpose of being a sacrifice afterall), and she keeps her emotions bottled up deep in recesses of her mind. As for her name well, it's a mix between Alita (manga character) and Atila (war mongrel from history). I happened to be listening to the song Atila by Iced Earth, and the two just... meshed. It's an odd name, but is has really grown on me.

You're the first person to ever point that out. The worst part about the Gunnm manga is that it ends. Absolutely wonderful story (if a bit dark/gory).


Thanks for the compliment btw. It's one of my favorite costumes. Shes been wearing essentially the same outfit since I made her in April or so of '05. There were a vew costume options that didn't become available until I5 though (her feet wrappings and bracers).

Oh, nice job on the update there Aaron! It took me alt tabbing back and forth several times to put my finger on what changed, but I finally came to the conclusion the shading was a bit thicker in the second. What I mean is it's not hugging the lines as closely, and gives it a better sense of volume. Nice!

(Not part of Mario, but I also think the style you added to your signature is pretty neat looking.)

More because of ease of use than anything. I'm lazy, and the old way was to edit the shortcut and add the filename everytime I wanted to run a demo. (The no filename, drag & drop thing is a new trick.)

I usually play fullscreened. However, are you ready for more oddness? When I run the demos from the commandline/shortcut, some costume options never load. Run the same demo in the launcher and they load. It's also only a select few demos that don't work, most are fine...

Oh.. I didn't even think that the demo launcher would be the very thing causing the problem, especially since one of the files I tried used to work fine with it a while ago. Lets see... Okay, this is strange. I made a shortcut that looks like this:

"F:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -screen 1680 1050 -demoplay
[edit: It works without the -screen option, so it's not my resolution.]

Then I dragged and dropped the cohdemos onto that shortcut and it runs fine, but fullscreened. I've been playing them back in windowed mode with the launcher.

*attempts to load the cohdemos in the launcher set to fullscreen*
*coh explodes*

That doesn't make much sense to me at all, but at least now I have another way to view the demos. Thanks.

I've had several cohdemos recently just refuse to load on me, for whatever reason. This is both in CoH as well as CoV. Any ideas on what might be causing them not to playback correctly? I can upload them if you guys want to take a look.

(Reeaally miffed that two of them are from the last mission of the Sara Moore TF. I want to see the fight with Ruladakk again! )
