  1. I don't know if this is the same thing, but I will read as much as I can when I get home. My issues have been with the screen freezing, turning grey and then a popup comes up saying that my graphics card has stopped responding but has recovered. The game does not continue. I have to shut it down and restart. There is no problem restarting the game and I can get back on in 30 seconds to a minute as long as it does not involve some sound string that gets caught and continues droning on and on. At that time, then yes, I have to shut off the computer and reboot it. But it almost always happends at the worst possible time. I can't remember the exact message right now. But I'll be sure to write it down and update.

  3. Quick question: Do any of these setting really affect Windowed mode in any way that deserves mention. Sure, I want great quality, but I have a Quad Core now with a Nvidia 9800 GT. I've been enjoying running both my accounts at the same time. But if I want to take some high quality pictures for, oh, a costume contest or for some awesome pics to make as my Screensaver... should I revert to a Desktop setting to do that? Just curious on any opinions.

    They would rather you go to the trouble of finding a guide on Binds and Macros and doing it that way. I'm still too busy looking for my perfect Cyborg combo though so it will have to wait. By the time I've typed in the emote I've run into a building. LOL. It's the comedy channel version of CoH when I do it.

    This is a permenant version of the temporary power you can earn during the Halloween event. It simply changes your appearance into that of the PPD Hardsuit.

    It is not a set of player costume pieces and it required very very little time to create as the PPD Hardsuit was already made and the power to change you into it was already made for the Halloween event.

  7. You might want to run in there and just make Test Subject toons to take up the spaces. I do this to save names that I might one day want to use. Fill up the server slots with them and delete to start another when you need to. Might take a bit of time to do it but it should ensure you don't loose the slots.

  9. On the SF... the last mission. As you are moving up the slope the lag gets worse and worse. My power fx get to be about 2 animations behind my keyboard activation with a lot of time in between of them just standing there as if I am about to dc. It has been like this on 4 out of 4 occassions that I have run the SF.

    Magic can explain everything. No water zone entry until you've been bespelled with the Bubble of Breathing, the Vapor of Vitality or given a Potion of Poseidon. Heck, Pop a Pill of Peneus. War Witch will have to do double duty. No rest for the ghostly!!
  11. I read thi sat home, just before leaving for work. I was so excited that I almost took the day off. Then I remembered that it wouldn't be NOW, just SOON. Beta soon too. Glad I saved some vacation days for just such an occassion.

    My Fastest trip to 50 was my Bot/TA MM. I hear a lot of people put TA down, but I think they are mostly referring to Defenders. Slot Flash Arrow well. Spam it and Glue Arrow whenever you can and and you'll do well. That's my experience.

    My dear Doctor:

    If you ignore the word 'Empathy' and simply look at what the powerset does, there's nothing uniquely heroic about it. Most of the powers don't even tie in to the intended 'empathy' theme at all. Fortitude? Adrenalin Boost? Regeneration Aura? Recovery Aura? These are much more to do with bioenergetics than with Empathy.

    The only power that actually reflects the powerset's supposed theme is Absorb Pain.

    It seems to me that a purely mechanical issue is being determined by story concerns. Moreover, those story concerns seem to be based upon the title of the powerset (Empathy) rather than its actual theme and function (body boosting and restoration). So we're forced to ask if this is really such a big deal as it appears, especially since the Empathy title seems fairly arbitrary.

    At least the Poison powerset involves the character spitting nasty stuff out. That's not very heroic, I grant you. Heroes may breathe fire, but spitting is a bit gross. But I don't believe there's one single animation in the Empathy set that isn't already found over in the Villain powersets.

    The last time story concerns were allowed to dominate mechanical ones, we had the Patron Power Pools, and nobody needs me to recap the issues people had (and still have) with those.

    Agreeing with Lady Sadako here. Now You have Defenders and Controllers having Empathy. You've given the Thermal now and so that's three major sets of Healing-type buffs and you've given Villains one. Two Hero AT's can have Kinetics where Villains have one. ( No... I am not asking for MM's to get Kinetics. ) You've given Cold and Thermal Shields over to the Heroes with only Storm to make up for it.

    Offensively you've treated the Villains just as well as the Heroes. Defensively, you haven't. Empathy, I imagine, was called Empathy for an Heroic-sounding effect on the players imaginations. You're reasoning of Thematics doesn't hold water when another title could be made to fit the bill for Villains from a great many ideal souces, such as Bioenergetics, as Lady S was pointing out. That's a neutral theme for Villains and Heroes both.

    After reading about the plethora of things that are coming in I12, I don't want this particular thing to downshadow the marvelous extremes you guys seem to be going to. It's all appreciated and probably not expressed enough. It's just that on this little tidbit of what you've posted on I12, I disagree with you greatly and will continue to. Fun is one thing. Offensive and Defensive balance does have some importance to us.

    It doesn't take away from Villains, you're right. But Storm is not even close to a parallel swap for it. Not even close. Giving Empathy to Villains AS Heroes got Thermal is what is parallel. Match the buffs in the Storm set to the ones that Thermal has and then try to be honest and tell me where the balance is. Why people are saying that giving Heroes Thermal is taking away from us is because it's Hero equivalent is not ported over to even the playing field of Buffs. I think that's pretty simple for everyone to understand. Put your Hero pom pom's away please and replace them with some good interpretation skills instead of flaming talents. It really isn't hard to hear what people are saying, even through all of the rants. You and many others have been around here long enough to understand.
  17. Despite offsets that seem "not" right, I think a lot of people are excited. Unfortunately, I can't help but see a lot points being made. The good thing is that this isn't the only "swap" of powers that will be made and that makes all of this easier to swallow. I really think that this stuff comes out at the end of the week so that all of our complaints, opinions, and rants can be looked at and new perspectives on the part of the development team can be revealved. I pray they just don't take offense to the harshness that is exhibited here. After all, most everyone is here because we love game. That's a good thing!

    Ya. That is just an example of what people are are furious about. It's great that you'll be able to *Forge* your Imps and shield them yet MM's sure won't get Fortitude. Neither will Dom's.
  19. My two cents:

    Blaster: I don't mind the Psychic Blast. I hear the screams from PvPers but, oh well. Change can be good and change can be bad. It's the outlook that makes that determination. It's all personal, if you ask me, with this powerset addition. Mental Manipulation, however, is where my concern lies. What the heck is a Blaster doing with more control? ( Just asking ) This gives Blastroller a whole new meaning.

    Corruptor: I like both additions, but somewhere... and I really mean SOMEWHERE!!!!! Empathy should have been added. Not adding Empathy has now created an imbalance that is a little too heavy to offset with an Electric Blast/Storm Summoning powerset. Yes, I like both added sets, but one should go and Empathy should be added. I don't even care if a MM gets it, as someone offered up. It needs to be given over to Villain side, especially since the Heroes now have two sets that offer shields given over from Villains.

    Controller: I like both additions. No complaints. Plant Control and THermal. Good Choices. I would have preferred Only Defenders getting the Thermal instead of Controllers and Controllers getting Cold Domination, but it is purely a personal thing. I just think it gives Controllers too much of a Debuff Combo with their pets.

    Dominator: I'm excited about Earth Control for Dominators, but less excited about yet another the Electric Man. until I see the power lineup. If it is the same as Defenders, then I won't care to try it.

    Masterminds: I have no issues with Storm Summoning, but I would have thought that other things would have more suitable. I'm walking the fence on this one.

    I am pleased with the Brute, Stalker, Scrapper, and Tank additions. Ya ya ya.... I know Tanks wanted Electric powersets, but ( and again it's just me ) I am glad they didn't get it. I just think DA/DM rounds Tankers off nicely.

    Overall, I think Heroes got more on the deal than Villains. I've been playing a lot more on Heroes lately since I've wanted to get a 50 on my seconds account for Heroes before VEAT's come out. I don't feel I am unjustly leaning toward Villains just because I've played them more. I know others will disagree though.

    I just want to say thanks to the Dev's for even bringing this forth. It was a nice way to add more to the game without having to extinguish ( perhaps ) future power options that can be added later and extend the time this game stays running.

  23. I don't want Dark Astoria claimed. It's one of the neatest zones in the CoH/CoV world. Of course, I wouldn't mind it if they did something like in the movie Silent Hill, where the world changed at certain times (I'd say the dead can claim the town at Night with a City-wide warning horn to warn the townspeople to get off the street).
