  1. ...except it erases lines and not teeth.

    *coughs*

Well, actually, there's a motor in the handle that spins the eraser around and around at a pretty high RPM. The eraser itself is very small, and since you don't have to scrub the eraser back and forth, you can get some really fine erasing.

It's actually pretty nifty to see...and artists who use them tell me that after using them, they can't imagine doing without!
  2. I think it's an excellent idea, Squirrel, and one that should work pretty easily.
Now all we need is a victim......
  3. I've seen folks using cordless mechanical erasers like the one here with great effect.

Then there's the "mechanical advance" pencil erasers like this one.

I use a version of the "mechanical advance" erasers and it works pretty well.
  4. Huh! That's not bad at all, considering it was a pencil sketch. Now you're going to make me have to find a copy of CS2 to work with....

    Thanks, Hex!
  5. Oh yes indeed! This is a super pic! Congrats to both of you!
  6. "Live Trace"? Is that an option in Photoshop CS? Heck yeah, I'd like to see an example!

I think that by using a combination of pen tracing and brush work with my rusty, dusty wacom (I..think it uses coal for power still...) I might come up with a satisfactory look without tons of time.
  7. Howdy folks! I was looking over some tutorials on inking in Photoshop last night and thought I'd give one of the techniques a try. I like how it went.....except, since I was inking using paths, it took over an hour. Take a peek at it.

    Black Atom Inked

If you want to see the pencils I worked off of, you can see them here:

    Black Atom Pencils

I'd be curious to hear comments, and other folks experience at digital inking. I really, really like the look, and maybe I can cut some corners to make things faster...but...

Oh, and if you want to see the tutorial I was using to guide me, it's here.
  8. Wow...changing the angle on the background worked wonders! Much improved, DJ!

    Thistle's Art

Wonderful color work and a darned expressive character! Grats!!
  10. DJ,

This is a great piece, but I have to say that there's a certain majesty that is lacking here. Maybe it's the size of the figure in the picture, or the pose....I'm not certain. I remember seeing the Peregrine picture that you put up and wanting to go back and look at it again and again. This one doesn't quite hold me the same way. Wierd...

If I can get more specific, I'll post it. Sorry to be vague!

*restrians self from being nitpicky about the color of energy coming out of Gill's hand since he is a Peacebringer*

Awesome Piece I especially like how you did the glasses

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes, but...

I calls it like I sees it!

And thanks for the glasses compliment. Everybody likes the glasses and the shoulder guard!

What'd you color this in? Looks nice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks guys! I scanned this and colored, tweaked and fussed with it in Photoshop CS. At the very least, it was pretty fun practice!
  13. Woah! That's pretty nifty! Good job!
  14. Ok folks, here's my try of coloring my Gill Bates drawing.

    COLORAMA!

It's really my first attempt at serious colors. Some things I like, some I don't. That's the way it goes, eh?

Anyway, I think it might be finished. Time to move onto Plasmastream's commission!
  15. Oh HELL yeah!

That looks awesome, Scarf! Way to go!!
  16. Didn't I used to watch Comrade Hero on TV when I was a kid? I think he came on right after Speed Buggy... What was that theme song.....?

(dum,da,dum,dum,da-tah!) "Here comes COMRADE HERO, here to save the day!" (da-tah!) "When they see COMRADE HERO the bad guys stay away!"(dat-da-daaa)

...well, if there wasn't a Saturday Morning Cartoon, there should have been. I would have watched it!

    Rowr Wannabe???

    *cough*

Well...at least it wasn't me dressed up as Rowr for Halloween.

    Nosir. Wouldn't do that.

    Nope.
  21. Thanks guys! I'm going to work on coloring it this weekend.
  22. Well, ok, so I thought I might try to enter the contest, so I worked something up. I think I might work on coloring it. Keep those fingers crossed....I dont do much coloring!

    Take a peek at Gill!

    ..Rowr...rowr....rowr.

That's a cool way to start a piece! I'll keep checking back!
  25. Woah. The chance to meet all the folks I read about all the time? Sounds great!

Er...can someone link to the instructions on copying a character to the test server?

    I'm an idiot
