  1. I blame you cause, you guessed it.

"I'm to sexy for this thread, to sexy for this thread, thats what you read"
  2. I blame you for making me want to combine Pie with Roe (Roe in this case being the fully ripe internal ovaries or egg masses of fish)

if you read what I said, you would see that I am not accusing them of being in cahoots (although it would not surprise me one bit) however, they do profit (with extended subscriptions)

    [/ QUOTE ]

You have absolutely zero evidence that RMT causes people to stay subscribed longer... I find it far more likely that immediate gratification makes for LESS longevity on accounts more often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree, we live in the new "instant gratification" generation, and if they cannot get it right away they'll leave for something else, so even if it's only an extra month, it's an extra month worth of subscription fee.

Folks who will stay and work out it, will stay, those who would get frustrated and leave without being able to get their quick fix would leave, but those folks can get what they want and might stay longer then before.

So again, I stand by what I said. I understand that it might not motivate you into staying, but I am sure it does others.
  4. 2 Emp/Sonics will roll through everything, not only do you get Fort on each toon, +Maneuvers +Assault but your also debuffing Res on them (so you'll hit even harder).

Toss into that mix Sirens song at level 28 and you can sleep most of the minions and take out the rest with ease. Having 2x aura's also helps as you can stagger them so they are all on the time.

Seriously, this team makes the game not fair...on the bad guys.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
If the NCStore sold in-game inf/inf for bottomed out prices it would drive the RMT'rs away in a week. There is no way they would be able to compete with the prices from a game's own online store which requires zero overhead or time to produce.

Of course, this would ruin the RP element of influence not being cash, but a reflection of the citizens' opinion of you.

    *crickets*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Rather then do that (and make it SOOO obvious) it would be far better to flood the markets with low cost IO's, making massive amounts of INF not necessary and RMT's would suffer accordingly. Folks talk about billion Inf builds, that is quite out of the reach of a lot of folks, playtime wise (the ammount of time needed to build up such funds), but not RMT wise (click click and your done) and that's why they (the RMT)'s are so successful. Turn those builds into 100mil or less inf builds and all of a sudden the dynamic changes.

Also, if they started selling INF (upfront and in public) that's one thing, the public reaction would be pretty bad (again see Stationcash) , but if they started (slowly) putting IO's up in the market cheap, no one would be able to trace it back to them, yet you'd still be hitting the RMT'ers.

Or, they can do nothing and still reap the benefits, which is why they will do nothing, cause no matter how many drama queens come here and cry about it, for the most part, do folks really care? PvE wise you don't even need IO's, sure they are nice to have but not essential.

    Guy and Gals,

I think the issue here is that (and before I go on, I talk to Boxxy (the OP, Moldylunchbox) on Pinnbadges all the time, I don't think he asked cause he was thinking of using a RMT) RMT's exist (and PL'ers) cause there is no real will to deal with them, and the reason why is simple, they offer a service that in the end makes money for the game provider.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *CoughcoughBULLS***cough!*

Ah, yes. The old "The devs are really in cahoots with them" tinfoil hat tripe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

if you read what I said, you would see that I am not accusing them of being in cahoots (although it would not surprise me one bit) however, they do profit (with extended subscriptions) regardless and since subs (and expansions) are all that really matters (it's the bottom line after all), it's not hard to see why a lot of company's do just enough to "save face" but not enough to really do anything about it, it's not in their best interest.

Anything that makes you want to play longer is good in their books, what do you expect them to do?

    Robert_B:
I see nothing inherently wrong with your idea, but nothing about it really stands out either. All in all, it's kinda "basic", but not bad. I'm personally not a huge fan of the chest emblem, but that's more personal preference on my part -- I tend to avoid chest emblems except where it's appropriate for a theme or if I can integrate it into a costume to appear like a modified pattern rather than a sticker.

But the important part about your costumes is whether or not you like it. It won't matter how many other people like your idea if you personally don't care much for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The chest emblem is a Maple Leaf, cause I am from Canada. my SG is called "Canadian Super Friends" so it's an element in my costume.
  8. I would do what I am doing now a Scrapper with a Sonic/Sonic defender. The Sonic defender does alot to raise damage and the sonic shields protect very well, combine that with whatever secondary that your Scrapper has and your all set. Your sonic can be on follow with shields going and not even attacking (since the sonic has a aura that you can put around your Scrapper to increase dammage to everyone around it).

Toss in a heal other and your set.

    Also,

Try to Emp defenders, Emp/Sonics, being able to heal and have Fortitude on each other makes the game way easy.

    Examples.

    1) Guy needs lots of (Inf,gold, plats, credits, gear WHATEVER) to further his enjoyment of the game he is playing, if he can't get it (for whatever reason) he might cancel his sub, if he has the cash to just buy it, he'll keep playing.

    2) Guy wants to play with his friends or level up a new toon but doesn't want to do "the same old content" again, he might quit to try something new (and level up there) or just buy a (whatever) level toon and keep playing.

The gaming company knows this, now you can argue that both the things I just mentioned also lose them customers, but the thing is, every game has this issue now (at least any game that has been around long enough to a) have max level toons and b) (and most important) gotten to the point that the game has a skeleton staff that has more important issues to deal with. So you can run from game to game to avoid it (if you care that is) but you'll figure out soon enough that it's going to be there and either quit playing games altogether or deal with it.

The only revenue that gaming company's have (outside of expansions) is subscriptions, and anything that keeps folks playing is a bonus to them and they know it, and I don't believe from a moment that some of the company are taking part of it behind doors (Sony has stationcash now, so their moving it into the open).

For CoH to stop RMT, they would have to flood the market with cheap IO's so that Inf gained from just doing mish's would be enough to IO out your toon, but I don't see that happening.

Also, do you think that every gaming company has the cash to go after all these company's? they don't. Too many ants and not enough Raid.

Lets face it, if it wasn't for the spam there would be far less uproar over these issues anyways.
  10. So....like does no one like my costume? it's just a trial...

    Geeze FEEDBACK people.

    DRAMA

I'm glad my wife was willing to settle, cause it meant I didn't have too.
  13. Ok, here is a first attempt at a new one, I've combined many of the elements from the ones I have seen here. It's hard to see but the armor is exproto.

Yes, there are two of us, the other is my wifes toon

    New
  14. Hey all,

Looking to play the market a little so I need to know what are popular sets to work with.

    I use

    Obliteration
    Posi's blast
    Doctored Wounds
    Mako's

    Any other real popular ones?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I made one up for you and sent it to you in PM. It's a color (and a few other) tweak of the goto costume I use for all of my characters. I didn't do anything with the weapons because I wasn't sure what origin you were and that's something that's pretty concept based.

In order to see what it looks like, just copy-paste it into notepad and save it as a .costume file in the Costumes file of City of Heroes. You'll then be able to open it and alter it just like any other saved costume.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry about the delay in commenting, I didn't get a chance to look at it until today, again another nice one!

Ok heres is anther one that really is dark

Actually my costume is similar to this one, but nice.

I tend to keep my costumes fairly simple at first, then add to it later if I come up with more ideas. Here's my submission:

    Standing
    Blades Drawn
    Action Shot!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very Nice.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I love playing so I had a little play this morning. Here's what I came up with. It can be tweaked quite a lot to taste. If you like the basis, I can PM the costume text.

    Front
    Back
    Side
    Close up

If you care to give a bit more info on your characters background, it would be quite helpful.

(Some of the colour differences don't show up too well in those photos - the chest particularly.)

EDIT: Mucking with an image editor to give a four in one view:
    Montage.

I like the overall idea, not crazy about the legs but the upper body is quite nice.

    DRAMA

Bah Champions! gonna be DOOM when that goes live.

Then again, perhaps some compition will make this game stronger.
  21. Thanks guys!

I should have mentioned that the only expansions that I have is the Valkery (or howeveer you spell it) expansion, though I think I will have to look into getting the magic one.

    Please keep them comming!
  22. Hey All,

Ok, I have to admit my costume creator skills are aweful, and I keep making the same type of costume over and over again (usually with a trenchcoat and tatto'd arms) so I was hoping that some of you, with skills and who like to do it, would not mind designing a costume for me, a challenge if you will.

The character in question is a DB scrapper, so I'm looking for a "dark, mysterious" scrapper look, think batman, or the punisher kinda thing (as an idea of what I am looking for, not an actual costume design).

Note: Toon MUST have long hair/ponytail, and again use a dark palette.

If anyone would like to post your interpretation of my idea I would really appricate it.

    Thanks!
  23. Personally I would like a link to your costume, I wonder what she would look like?
  24. I blame you for not recommending the only beer worth drinking here, Canadian beer!
