Fire/Kin/Fire is cheaper and easier than Fire/Kin/Stone, but it's also squishier. Both can farm on common IOs or SOs but I'd steer away from Stone if that's your goal (IO bonuses really help Stone go the extra mile). Some people still go Fire/Kin/Psi but those have been few and far between since I14, that I've noticed at least.
When building a Fire/Kin/Fire, build for +rech, +acc, and +HP (cheaper builds can get away with taking Tactics). Accolades will help as well - you've got no defense and have to rely on your resistances and Transfusion to keep you up, so more HP means more reaction time to click powers. My Fire/Kin/Fire using only common IOs (and a -KB IO) can bring in about 80k inf/minute running the Battle Maiden map on difficulty 5 spawned for 6 (though that was before the I15 spawn changes, which added bosses to spawns like that). Best enemies (outside of MA) to farm with a Fire/Kin/Fire are Behemoths, and Battle Maiden if you bring along a few columns of Break Frees. Freakshow are a bit more tricky and throw a lot more mez, but are doable.
When building a Fire/Kin/Stone, build for +rech and +acc. Given enough recharge through set bonuses and stacked Siphon Speed, you can perma (or even stack, for a short time) Earth's Embrace which means you'll end up with capped or near-capped HP all the time. Considering the Controller base HP is 1070 and the cap is 1606, that's a lot. Grab Weave to add to your smash/lethal defenses, and try and push for that magical softcap of 45%. Tough will help with the attacks that do get through, and when combined with capped HP and the stun from Fissure, you've got a very survivable farming build. Best mob types for a Fire/Kin/Stone are Freakshow and Battle Maiden (bring along a few Break Frees just in case, though your defense will help avoid most of the mezzing). My partially-purpled Fire/Kin/Stone pulls in 90-95k inf/min on 6-spawned Invincible BM maps.
Fire/Kin/Psi is the same general idea as Fire/Kin/Fire - build for +rech, +acc, and +HP. +Rech is more important to a Psi because if you get enough IO bonuses and stacked Siphon Speeds, you can perma Indomitable Will, which means you can essentially ignore most mez effects, making farming enemies like Freakshow trivial.
[/ QUOTE ]
I run a Fire/Kin/Psi and its all about the +rech HP can be bypassed via useing flashfire +acc becuase fire has such low acc compared to other primary's. But i keep up with the fire/kin/fire's and youll likely see my F/K tanking on a Invic ITF or possibly tryin to go toe to toe with Recluse(cant but ive tried). Either way ive tried Stone and Fire both but they just dont have that pow and cool lookin effects that psi has, Besides if ya miss a minion or 2 with Cages you can always knock em back usein nado.
-
When i jump on my fire/kin def is a nonissue since i open up with flashfire(enuff recharge makes this useable every spawn), follow up with a cages to keep em from spreading. Then jump in the middle FS Psi nado cage Trans Nado move to next spawn. With enuff recharge you can get treu the "BM Farm" in bout 5-6 mins and never have a problem 20 mins if you take out BM solo, but i wouldnt recomend that as it takes to much time.

with the screen scrunching down that sounds like what i had happen on my first comp back in '97. Turned out fryed a vid card. Was a big deal back then but nowadays not so much. if that turns out to be the case i would recomend he purchase the top of the line card so he can continue to play games on it for another 5-10 years.

Maybe I missed something... but why are you using level 40 enhancements everywhere?

Some feel that lvl 40 IO's work just as good as lvl 50 IO's and are a bit cheaper specially with ED takin affect. But thats just an Opinion based upon total BS on my part. -

Yes but if you spell something wrong it brings more attention to what your tryin to put out thier.kinda like sayin to a lil kid "o this is bad for you, your not suppose to drink it." First thing i did when i was told that..... drank it. 20 years later im now addicted to Dr. Peppers.

Ok i recently posted a suggestion in those fourms about adding grave stones to bases. In the post i made mention of a fog effect useing Dingly Floor tile#2 and useing slow fields. Is thier any other effects that can be made besides fog and water useing a floor tile and something along the lines of the slow fields? Im kinda curious as to what textures others have come up with or seen.
-
Ok so ive been workin on my base now for a bit gettin it just right as i advertise for new members(blah blah). So i made a somewhat huge mistake while editing(ok not so much now)and i used Dingy floor tile#2 with floated slow fields.... The effect, FOG.
OK so your wonderin whats your suggestion. Well its a simple 1 i believe... Grave stones. Yep thats right i would like grave stones added to base decorations and mabey if possible have some editable text so they can have some meaning behind them. I.E. have some stones placed and as your walkin by you click on one and a pop up window opens allowing you to see that it was ment for someone who no longer plays the game but helped start said base with ya or mabey to pay homage to someone in RL that may have ment alot. Either way with or without the pop up i would love to see me something along the lines of a grave stone. Heck more eery base decorations would be cool to. -

It's the KVM. A KVM "Emulates" a Monitor, if the emulated monitor has a smaller resolution then the resolution of your real monitor then CoH will freak out.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can atest to that i use to have my TV setup as a second monitor(duel monitors where cool ok) anyways the TV was set to 1386 by 768(somethin close to that i think) while my monitor was 1280 by 1024 and tryin to use the settings from my monitor on my TV caused the game to show up as a blank screen(Heck it would show up as no connection) was a simple fix i just had to make sure to load CoH on the TV so it would be bigger rather then have to jack with the settings each time.

People wouldn't need to harp and ask for SB if kins did their job. It's not hard to watch the buff icons and see when SB needs to be reapplied. It takes seconds to buff 7 team members every 2 mins. Give me a break if that is too much for a kin to do. I manage to do it on my kin with no problems. I am tired of kins broadcasting and advertising that they are a kin for a team MA mish knowing that the are gonna get picked quick to join the team only to have them not SB the team (the very reason they were picked to begin with).
[/ QUOTE ]
If kins did their job... which is apparently a mobile delivery system for SB and nothing else.
Watching the buff icons... and picking your SB icon out of the row of 15-20 buff icons stretched out next to each player's name, all the while trying to contribute more to the team than just spamming SB.
It takes seconds to buff 7 team members every two minutes... assuming that all seven team members are in range and haven't dashed off after another mob. Then you get to listen to them whine about your letting SB drop on them when they do come back. I've been on ITFs where I've only had two team members within range of SB at any given time in the last two missions, but I'm still expected to run around to keep SB on them all.
[/ QUOTE ]
K, was goin to stay out of this but this brings in my phalosophy. If SB drops and your not in range even if no one gets it, your not gettin it for another 2 mobs(Roughly 2 mins). My role when im not soloing mishes set for 8 is to keep green and blue bars topped off while makeing sure everyone is setting nice and snug above or near the damage cap. If you can wait the 20 or so seconds it takes transferance to recharge and you need the end so badly, guess its my fualt you made bad decissions slotting up your tank, ill tank the next mob why you rest, Hows that? And when the team realizes the troller is tankin why the tanker is resting up 2 mobs back and hes still complanin he hasnt gotten hit with SB, not my fualt you are slowying the team down.
OK end of my rant, But seriously i SB once at mish start(before first mob is enganged) and then once every 2 mins to maintain the buff. ALOT of people complain at first until they realize im not chasin em half way cross IP to give em a buff when if they would just stop for half a second after the 2nd mob died they would get a nifty buff to help recharge. Other wise see above about how i feel :P

the 57 month badge makes as much sense as giving a glass of water to a fish.
By 57 months I know I did and would assume most others that 50% off talioring fees considering the different methods to obtain additional costume slots, free costume changes etc won't care about a tailor discount. In fact it's insulting to someone like myself who has played for so long to get such a lame "reward" for playing so long.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe that is for new characters. Be insulted, you're clearly in the minority on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
What i think hes refering to is that by 57 months a new char(lvl 1) will have 9 Costume tokens as soon as the create the character and go treu thier vet rewards. So i can see some being insulted or annoyed or even peeved by the fact that a vet reward is more geared towards the minority rather then the majority. -

Just found this thread for the first time, and haven't read it all yet, so sorry if this was already brought up.
It goes something like this:
Incoming tell of "want to join a <fill in name of TF/mission here> team?".
You reply with "Sure, send me an invite" a few seconds later.
You then get this: "Team is full".
If you know, or are pretty sure that your team will be full momentarily, don't keep sending out invites/tells. Get it sorted out first, THEN send out some more invites/tells. I've been getting this a fair bit lately, and it drives me up the wall, especially when its for a team doing something that I would like to do, or still need to do on a specific character.
------------------------------------------------
[/ QUOTE ]
I am guilty of this far to often, only cuse i wait bout 2-3 mins then start sending out tells again and if the first person i sent a tell to doesnt respond within the first 2-3 mins I will continue to shoot out tells to the next 3 people until i fill the team. But if that first person sends a tell 4 mins later and thiers 5 other people that havent responded yet, Its first come first serve and ill reply once the team is full "Srry full up mabey a spot will open in a bit" If that bugs you turn on /hide and possibly try finding a team via broadcast. -

Slow down? With Champions Online slated for "Spring 2009", and DCUO slated for release before the end of the year, what should the production schedule be?
Also, aren't "compare & contrast" threads disallowed?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasnt really compareing and contrasting was just showing that this(Current schedule) will only drive the current player base into a rage as has been shown treuout history when major changes are made without any reasoning behind said change SoE was mentioned because they are the best example of what not to do for an MMO. And they do need to slow down SPECIALLY with CO coming out and DCUO in the works a more stable game is much better then a game full of stuff that hardly works(Looks at SOE again). -

I suspect the developers are very busy preparing I14, the next booster pack and future content, and I don't expect things to be fixed overnight. But I'm talking about major, universal, problems that cropped up before the winter event and I guess I'm kind of stunned at the lack of notice or mention of them. Moreso when I look at the content of this patch.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quick responses to general tone of many posts in this thread
We're departmentalized here. The people who would be responsible for fixing things like game crashes, bugs with text chat, etc are not the same people who do things like tweak powers, change badges, or fiddle with animation/FX. I've said this many times before, but people keep using this "Why did they do X instead of fixing Y" arguement and unless you're a producer here, you cannot know which things are getting addressed in lieu of other things. (I myself only know which animation/FX issues are taking priority of other animation/FX issues)
The known issues list is kind of in unknown territory. I'm not sure if there is anyone who's responsibility is to keep that thing updated on a regular basis...and I'm not sure if there actually is a way to keep it updated anyway. What should go on the known issues list is things that are currently broken in the live game, are known about by us, and will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
It can't ever be the "Here are all of the bugs we know about" list because our bug tracking database literally has tens of thousands of 'known issues'. Some have been fixed, some aren't actually bugs, many are duplicates of bugs, etc. There's no reasonable way anyone could parse through our bug database and condense it into a list on a regular basis. Even updating it with a list of things that we know about and have already fixed is problematic and requires the people who fix things to manually tell someone to update the list. So the likeliehood of the known issues list ever being up to the minute and comprehensive is slim to none. It can certainly be more comprehensive and up to the date that it currently is, but it'll always be something that's managed ad hoc.
Finally, we are in a particularly chaotic point in update schedule. We're beginning the transition between I13 on live and I14 (which used to be part of I13) on it's way to beta testing--always a troublesome time in the update process. We're also working ahead on things for post I14 launch (booster packs, anniversary event, etc)...as well as Issues 15 and 16. Many things going into I14 can't go into I13 without horrible consequences. Likewise with I15 and I16. So, we're currently dealing with more future builds than we ever have and more open branches as well. Trust me, it's just as frustrating for us as it is for you guys. But we'll get through it and things will smooth out. Absolute worst case scenario is by the time Issue 14 goes live...at that point one of the builds/branches we're juggling (I13) is closed for good. Pretty hopeful that things will smooth out long befor then though.
[/ QUOTE ]
No offense BaB's i know its not your fualt but you need to tell the "Man" you guys need to slow it down and fix things that are broken before jumping 10 issues ahead of whats currently on live. If your on Issue 15 well 12 still has stuff that broken in it and hasnt, to my knowledge, been looked at or even acknowledged by any of the dev staff nor have many of the "Bugs" we've posted about been said thier on a list and their known issues and will hopefully get fixed.... NO thats not whats happening here. What seems to be happeneing by many of us here is we "The Playerbase" seems to be being ignored in hopes we will just leave and be replaced by some mindless paying drone who will take anything you give um and tell you"NCSoft" how much they like it that way. SoE did this with both SWG and The Matrix Online. Last i heard SWG had major issues with PvP and PvE and the Emulater was nearing completion(Runs off to the EMU website to check status), ok back. and from what i understand of the Matrix Online, ok well i havent heard anything in over 2-3 years ever.. Its like the game is dead but even SoE wont comment if its still alive. So if NCSoft's Buisness plan is to follow SoE's example please tell us as many of us will go somewhere else and let ya all run the game how you want it to be played, If not please atleast acknowledge that some of the issues we've posted about are being looked at or "In the works" no need to mention details just give us a yes its getting fixed Soon or No we didnt know bout that. Other wise many of us get the " We are ignoreing you, Send us more moneys so we can make more moneys/year".
Again not getting Mad at YOU BaB's we just feel that currently things are slacking that we fill could be fixed relativly easy, I.E. PATCH NOTES!. ok ending my rant here. -

They didn't listen to pvpers, I guess you badgers are next on the list of customers that really don't matter to NCsoft. Sad, very sad. Not the people I enjoyed doing business with for the past 3 years. A new direction, most definitely; ignore your current players hoping to attract some larger mystical group. That's been tried fyi; it fails. Learn from others' mistakes or simply repeat them and join them in the dustbin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Jaaax, you keep saying you'll quit but you're still posting in the forums. Would it not be more useful if you gave constructive feedback instead of ranting about quitting CoX? The wall of text being generated now is blocking out every other Forum posters' suggestion.
If the Devs listened to every single person's suggestions/wants/needs/giefs and implements them all, I'm sure there'll be loads of balance problems. So let's wait out for a response from the Devs before we pull out our stakes and hammers and crucify them before they have a chance meet, discuss, decide and reply.
[/ QUOTE ]
While i agree with ya Cents i dont think the devs will ever meet with the players and talk about thier buisness plan that seems to involve younger and younger generations and thus they need to get rid of all of us in order to do that so they can then dumb the game down more.... It worked for SoE didnt it -
Snow your editor of the Player run paper yes? if your awnser was yes make a poll for see if they players would be willing to sit down with ya and do a write up disscussing the distanceing the devs seem to be doing mabey the paper will get some major discussion stated with the player base and get the devs aware that us(Customers) fell the game we have come to love is being taken without any warrning not any indication of its future since it seems with the recent changes that the devs have a "plan" and are just leaveing us out of the loop.....(Now for the joke

- Teleport dampening field added to Cimerora. (Related to the Mac pac mission teleporter issue, most likely.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't be related. The mission teleporter fix sounded very generic - it also took away exploits to get into every hazard zone and Oroboros. If Cim needed an anti-TP field to block arrival there, why didn't Crey's Folley? If both solutions really are options, then why fix Cim in this annoying manner and Crey's in another?
So why is this one zone hit with an anti-travel-power power?
I doubt it's about teleporting into the other side's zones with the mission porter. eg, mixed team takes the villain Cim arc and a hero tries to port to Grandville. There's code to immediately boot people back to their proper side if they try to zone across sides. That code's been there since people were allowed to tour the other side's bases.
Was this a clumsy way to address dropping from a TF team if you use the Base Porter powers? I'm not sure a tradeoff of a travel power for idiot-proofing is a benefit (but that trade wouldn't surprise me.)
Whatever the reason, why doesn't the War Zone have a similar change? It even has a base portal - never mind the powers - if that's at issue here.
