I tried to download this yesterday and it is taking forever. Any way I can add this to the NCSOFT installer for a faster download to my computer?
I've installed the default folder CohTest. Can you add something to the installer so we can add it maybe in a future update? -
I'm going online in a couple hours here. I'll confirm everything. Your all probably right:
-no threads to shards
- alpha stuff/salvage with threads. I misunderstood Cryhal's comments and let me clarify. When we first got I20, I noticed that the alpha stuff changed to thread salvage. Then they patched it later in the month and it changed back to alpha salvage. This is what I was talking about. Cryhal's comments is that you can use threads to create Alpha salvage which I didn't notice. -
Quote:Okay. I play again(Diva) today and I'll post numbers.Every kill the TEAM gets rolls to drop a shard seperately for each person. Meaning on a team of 8, each time someone kills something, all 8 people on the team (if they are eligible to get shards) have a chance to get a shard, but each is rolled seperately. So some may get a shard from that kill and some might not, or even no one. How many kills you personal character gets doesn't matter.
-
can you post a picture of the shards to threads? I only found threads to shards not the other way.

Quote:All toons in the account. Will this be a global badge? Or will it just go to that toon that is logged in?
I'm getting these too. I got 3 in the last 72hours. -
Quote:I know they used to. I looked recently during the last patch and they changed it back.I'm not sure if you already know, so I figure I'll mention it if you don't. As an alternate to shard farming, drops from BAF and Lambda can also be used to craft Alpha powers.
Edit: I'm not big fan of the trials. We only have 2 and they have lag and disconnects. The regular tfs work expect for apex and tin(heavy lag). Have you ever had a weekend where you went on line and had disconnects/lag and felt like it was a waste of an evening? I do not want to "risk" 4 nights of this. This makes people angry.
I watched someone on my team yesterday every 5 minutes nuke the spawns with his void power. I felt like I wasn't even on a team. Soloists will love these new powers. I never saw a shard drop on any of the I, J, L, D power kills. -
Lady Attitude: 7 Shards yesterday.

I did okay but this one/Lady plays very different than my other toon that get the 10-15. I know you guys say it's random but I don't believe it. I think the powers you choose puts you in a better position. For example, Diva Attitude/Dominator, when she runs the LGTF has energy assault powers. She has enough of them and the range on her powers is so great that I can play and steal more kills than I can with Lady Attitude who is a Controller. Her powers are so pathetic she's late to the kills so much that I just level shifted to the top on just one of the Alphas this week. But Diva had all of them since December. -
Quote:Back to the SG base topic, If a base is empty will a regular size load faster than a empty secured large SG? I asked the SG owner to remove some of the items but he told me that wasn't problem it was because he had a "BIG" base. Lol.There is. Base zoning slows down when you add the largest control and energy devices, and when you use flame-based light sources.
Doubling up the control and energy devices on a secure plot slows things even more. And if you use anything other than basic building techniques (such as stacking lots of items) the effect is even worse.
If you want a fast loading base, you need to have the smallest plot possible with the minimum of items...only the essentials.
I have a base worth 120 million that is slow loading.
I have a base worth 8 million with the basics...and it loads super fast. -
Quote:This may sound crazy to you but why create a SG and have it load slowly? This will only create frustration for you users. Also, those cool things nobody can use. Who wants to be last back on the map. Who wants to watch the zone screen hang? I don't think people design their bases to load slowly intentionally but I posted this issue to help people be aware that less is more. You have got to be kidding me right...? Right...? People are free to do whatever the hell they want. You have a problem with their base? Find another SG.
You last comment is very, vary valid. I want to work with the SG owner before I do this. If things don't change in the next 30 days, I will go to another SG. -
Quote:Here's my dilemma right now before I can answer the TF questions. I need to know how many are blue and how many are red before I can do anything. If the numbers are mixed, I'll run probably co-op tfs(LGTF, TIN, Apex, ITF, etc.)My main is switching from Spiritual to Muscular, so I'll need shards. My weekends are unscheduled and variable so I'm not sure when I'll be on. But I'll give a shout on Freedom TF Chat when I'm on and see if it's convenient to hook up with you.
I was just going to run ITF, or possibly whatever TF would give me the salvage I'd need maybe. And the WST, three times I think. But I'm not taking Alpha past T3 anytime soon. Shards come just by play, and I'm not going to bust my hump just to do this fast.
What are you planning on running? WST that weekend blue side is dumb, ol Terra Volta, which I hate. I can get a pizza delivered faster than it takes to hang out in that reactor. But Saltier is a vigilante, so that's cool. But I'm not sure what Tree of Thorns is like. -
Quote:I approve this message. Maybe this is how I'm doing it, when I'm recruiting maybe I'm getting sub50s or maybe their not slotted...***The following is based on my own experience and discussion with others in-game, I welcome any confirmed/dev-sourced/Arcanaville-based information that refutes it.***
Try running a TF with a bunch of SK'd folks and then run the same one, in the same fashion, with all 50s. On the one with SK'd people, the 50s get more shards, because the game seems to be able to generate a shard for each player but will only allocate them to 50s. This concentrates the shard drops in to the 50s who are present and might explain why you sometimes get two or even three shards when a mob dies. On a TF with all 50s, the same mean number of shards are dropped, but they are spread amongst more 50s, so each player gets fewer. This has been my experience with the system, and I regularly find that the ITF generates more shards for me when I am SKing people along rather than running a doom train of Incarnated 50s. -
I was talking about the LGTF. LGTF is the TF this week and I'll run it alot over memorial weekend. I probably run all the tfs then but I will probably run ITF and LGTF daily.
Edit: I've "Farmed" the ITF twice only because it is so long, I done regular or speed run in it many times before. -
Quote:I'm not sure about this. Lag is bad in Cimerora. No VG merits. The scene with the nictus raid up top should give more shards. ITF is more scenic though.Yeah, but kill-all ITFs can be run in half the time at about 60% of that number of shards. This means, by running two ITFs back-to-back, I can spend the same amount of time and get 20% more Shards.
ITF wins because there is a signifant drop rate increase among bosses, EBs, and AVs; and the ITF has boatloads more of them than the LGTF. -

We'll see, I'll run this heavily this week and Memorial Weekend but what other Tfs are good for shards? Personally, none are nearly as "fruitful" for me. I've heard people talk about the ITF and I've farmed that twice for about 4-7 inconsistently.
-
also, my character is a dominator. I wonder if Archetype affects drops?

I ran an LGTF this morning with 8 in 1 hour and 3 minutes and got 10 shards, lots of Vanguard merits and my notice. I love this TF because it's a two for 1. I think this is the best Shard TF in the game for collecting shards. Any comments? I consistently get 10-15 shards every run whether it's farm or speed.

Monday
TBD -
I need to fill out the Alpha slots/trees on some of my existing and new characters. I will be Shard Farming TF/SFs from Friday, May 27(excluding the Surge Event which I will participate in) - Monday, Monday 30. These are long runs at 2-4 hours each.
If your interested post(your globalid & toon name, villian or hero, and date(friday, saturday, sunday, monday) and rough availability(mornings, afternoons, evenings, late night) and I will look for you during the weekend. Depending on the responses(villains or heroes), I will then build a TF/SF schedule. Bring you best computer to minimize disconnects and lag. -
Quote:What I meant was investing in your characters to develop them. A character needs to get to at least 30-35. Mid-thirties is when you get all of your powers. Bored...I don't buy that. Here's the thing, what Return on Investment do you expect to get from playing a video game? As far as I know Paragon Studios does not pay you for every level 50 you get so from a strictly money point of view everyone is paying their $15 a month and getting absolutely nothing back, what a rip off, we should all quit and invest our subscription fees in lottery tickets which have a much better ROI (you'll still lose money, but you'd occasionally win $5 or so and therefore lose less money spending $15 a month on lottery tickets).
Now, obviously, that is stupid. We don't play City of Heroes to make money (well, ok technically the Inf sellers do but they are a minority) we play it because it's fun. If your friend is having fun leveling characters to 20-30 then making a new character who are you to tell him that he's doing it wrong? As long as he's getting his $15/month of fun out of the game he's getting a positive ROI.
Now, your friend is not the only person doing this, when the level to unlock the EATs was reduced to 20 the devs mentioned that there were a surprisingly large number of players who lacked even a single level 50 character. The thing to remember is that different players find different things fun. You enjoy leveling characters and maxxing them out. That's fine but it's not the only way to play. Other people like playing new characters but get bored of them in the mid-30s when leveling starts to really slow down and move on to something else.
At the end of the day as long as you're having fun then you're dding it right. -
I can respect the not leveling attitude. But I ask you this question. If this game isn't about leveling and moving up then why did we get levels to 50, Alpha, D, I, J, L and soon we'll get more and Omega. You don't have to level but your missing the point of the game. I have a friend that feels similar to you and his characters are stuck at 20/30s because he won't focus on maturating them. He missed out on alpha and all the rest of the content. He really should be in this community but he likes throwing/flushing away money monthly without ever seeing a return on his investment(ROI). It's his money but he's underachieving in his current state.
