Don't ever say in a team "We need a tank/healer"
this game doesn't operate under WoW/EQ or any other MMO's basic rules, if you don't want to play a unique game where nothing is "mandatory" then go play WoW
(the only thing that is mandatory is intelligence!)
[/ QUOTE ]
The moment someone says they "need" a Tank/Healer, I offer to switch to one...and then switch to something else instead and go solo or something...better that than be stuck in a group with someone who says he "needs" some other AT to be effective. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just becuase you got a promotion in a SG doesnt mean that you can just kick "inactive toons 0 prestige" they may be alts of the founders of the SG used to fill the base 15 slots or the crafter of the SG.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the flip side, it's not a good idea to ignore the Supergroup founder when he asks you repeatedly to turn on SG mode, from levels 10 up. You lose NOTHING, and eventually the SG Founder will get tired of carrying a freeloader and kick you. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also, in the middle of the next mission, DO NOT say "Hey guys I gotta go check something on Xbox Live. Knock this out without me" then park yourself in a safe corner somewhere doing nothing but soaking up experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's about the time I switch to Local chat and say "Show of hands...who wants to train a bunch of mobs on (Idiot's name)?" -

Just as a general point:
"Never talk about a set as if you understand it without spending at least three months in-game playtime with it, and have run it for all 50 levels."
New players can have valid viewpoints, but rarely will they have a fully cohesive view of powers and how they react throughout the full course of the game.
This isn't elitism, it's simply a fact of experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
.... That -is- elitist...
I played for 2 full years before I finally buckled down and took a character to 50. Each character I made had obvious Advantages and Disadvantages. I didn't need a level 50 to tell me how to make my character or 'Build For Success'.
I've never resorted to using a guide on my builds, either... Getting to level 50 isn't the only way to learn. Some people are just better at math than others. Some are more tactically minded. Still others are capable of completing a task through sheer and determined stubborn.
I might fall into the last catergory.. >.>

[/ QUOTE ]
His statement wasn't just elitist, it was dumb. The last 12 levels, you pretty much have all the powers you're probably going to take from your powerset...you're just getting the Patron/Elite powers by then, which have no bering on the build's normal powersets.
I don't, for example, need to be level 50 to be able to describe the various useful tactics involving, say, Caltrops. -
...If you go up to a (LEVEL 3) brute and say "You only have ONE of your attack powers? Man, that character will suck in PVP."

I really really am hoping there will be the capacity to mesh edit the indoor maps and maybe even make our own outdoor maps.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not unless they change what they've told us. Static maps they've chosen for us. I bet it's something to do with the engine that they can't do it.
(Honestly, what you asked for was what I was hoping for with bases instead of what we got.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Er...static maps? So we we won't even be able to hook up rooms in different configurations?
Gee..won't THAT be 'fun'...
Team Leader" Oh, Look....it's 'standard Ornbenga map Number 4'...next mish!
And I hope that the ratings system will take into account the "Even though the mission is well designed, it's hard to solo, so it's going to get a lot of "This mission is impossible!" ratings from solo players." factor. -
I really really am hoping there will be the capacity to mesh edit the indoor maps and maybe even make our own outdoor maps.
If it's just a case of having to use existing rooms and maps, it won't be all that useful to make a really unique mission.
yes, mesh editing is a lot o work, but it will allow for a lot more creativity. I can understand limiting you to the existing texture maps (So no uploading textures), but I'd really like to be able to build more complex maps than currently exist.
For example, multi-level maps that DON'T involve using elevators to move from floor to floor, but use staircases like the Invention Tutorial map, or ramps, and not just as part of a pre-existing "room complex" (Like the big "4 rooms with criss crossing catwalks" you run into about every other warehouse mission) -
About the "Day jobs" feature...will it be retroactive?
Say we have a character we haven't logged into in a couple of months...will the offline time be counted as "Day Job" time for wherever they were logged off at when I13 comes live? -

Which was my initial guess as well, but since missions will only get full benefits once bumped to "dev pick" (to counter balance farming in the first place), I don't see how they'd ever be farming missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on how reduced rewards are, and how clever people are. If you can set up a mission that allows you to defeat mobs three times faster than average, then even with half xp you'll level 50% faster. But it's all just a wait and see game at this point.
Edited for an aggregious typing mistake. Which is preserved where I'm quoted below. Oh well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention that someone could make badge-farming missions.
how about a mission where there are a dozen Carnie Master Illusionists, locked up so they can't attack themselves, but can do nothing but summon pets? -

[ QUOTE ]
Does anyone know if the Architect will be able to be used offline to create missions and then be able to upload them to the game when you connect? I hope that they do it this way, since that makes the most sense to handle the mission builder.
Ashes to ashes,

[/ QUOTE ]
Possible but I doubt it - The current game client (the part that lives on your machine) isn't geared to do that in any way, plus if they make any changes ("As of today, you can no longer place the evil blue 'cake' room!") they'd have to re-check the entire level when you went to upload it.
(Although I do hope that add that feature in for the costume maker. I'd LOVE to be able to "save" costumes and upload them to multiple characters...)
[/ QUOTE ]
That WOULD be a timesaver for the "Supergroup Uniform" SGs...just send a file with the supergroup's approved costume, and hit a "Load Costume" button at the Tailor...voila. -

I hope we can choose the zone a mission takes place in rather than using a universal hub launching point like ouroboros. I would love to make missions to give you a reason to visit places like Dark Astaria and Croatoa. Even if it's just to go to the random mission door location in those zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm betting there will be a contact in each zone that gives level-appropriate PC (Player created, not Politically correct) Content mission arcs. -

I worry about the devs giving you guys what you want.. You wanted flashback so damn bad.. and look no one EVER is even in there..
[/ QUOTE ]
There are ALWAYS people in Oro when I go there. People don't generally hang out there, though. They're usually, yanno, doing their flashbacks. Which don't take place in Oro.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention using Oro as a "supershuttle" to move between zones from anywhere. -

I'm wondering when Villains are gonna get access to the Shadow Shard.
[/ QUOTE ]
when are heroes going to get access to the Golden Gizza?
ok, so the point is, why should anyone, red or blue side, have access to the other side?
Villains have their own exclusive zones that Heroes can't access and Heroes have their own exclusive zones that Villains can't access. I don't understand this DEMAND from one side or the other to have access to one zone from the other side.
[/ QUOTE ]
Golden Giza ZONE? Don't recall any of those. The Shadow Shard is another dimension, in case you didn't know. There's no reason the Villains couldn't have their OWN "Zulu base" type zone. -

Our Quartet, meanwhile, is also providing +60% damage and (maximally slotted) +63.2% ToHit.
The Boys' Team doubles those, to +120% damage and +126.4% ToHit.
[/ QUOTE ]
If each of the "Boys" go double-assault on a 8-soldier team, that's a whooping total of 240% damage. Almost two build-ups and a half. That's what amazes me the most about SoA teaming possibilities.
But yeah, SoAs... yuck. People even said WS/PBs were better than them!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yuck? Try fighting a group of eight of em and say that...with +80% Base Def and massive AOE/AssassinStrikes/whatever -

Man where should i start??? What are the devs doing? Stalkers get yet another powerset in i13??? OMG and villians get Pain Domiantion??? Aren't they already dominating with widows in pvp??? When are the Heroes gonna get something thats really good? First thing that I think needs to happen in i13 is improving the PB and Ws,you know to make things fair and balanced remember that??? How about pistols for blasters? How about another good damage set for scrappers,Fire melee is great, and 1 more nice set wouldn't hurt.Tanks could use a new good set as well, since brutes have fury, and more powersets than tanks.Man you guys keep giving the villians stuff every issue and keep the heroes behind on the goods.I hope you guys got some more nice stuff to announce, cause right now it looks like a disappointing issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
... Yer kidding, Right? All these years people have been moaning about Vside getting hosed, and now you're complaining when it actually gets the goods?
[Stares. In amazement and disbelief.]
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to admit that Shields for stalkers does seem a bit misplaced. What do you need with a shield if your main defense is stealth?
[/ QUOTE ]
Shield bash after your initial AS for stun? Since we don't know what the sets are like yet, its a bit premature to start criticizing. -
[ QUOTE ]
What about pausing the demo file? And yes, I'm thinking of a some matrix like effects in doing that but also in doing something on the order of switching the camera to the pov of the villain, activating crane kick, and then zooming out with the knockback. Neat concept, I know it'll be a pain to do, but if I can get it to work it will be fun to see.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats not really all that hard to do...just "Splice in" the commands to the character you want to actually be moving, in between the actions of all the other things in the scene...ther rest of the Demo will freeze until that character's commands are done. -
Don't know if this is a bug or what, but I tried to demorecord my Kheld fighting some vahz...and though the demo shows the character normally until it ENTERS Nova form...it then never changes back to humanform. I can see the humanform powers going off, but the character model stays stubbornly in Nova shape. Is this a new bug?

I've never recieved any spam in the Ingame Email system...just lots and lots of tells...
How about expanding the /ignore_spammer command so that it does the following things all at the same time:
1) Does what it does now.
2) does /gignore on the account (As if you had also typed /gignore <Charactername>
3) Automatically sends a "form-petition" that simply says "Flagging global account (Globalaccountname) As Spammer account" containing the last tell the account using the /ignore_spammer command recieved from the referenced character.
4) Compares the tell text being sent in Step 3 with a list of known spammer websites (so if it detects the virgames, etc, URL in the tell) and if a match occurs, immediately locks the offending account from sending tells for 2 hours of ingame time.
If it worked this way, not only would more information get to where it needs to go faster, the "shaddap!" function (muting outgoing tells from the offending ACCOUNT if the last tell contains a URL for known spam sites) will make the entire prospect of doing this impractical. -

There's an unusual form of pulling that is more amusing than useful...works best if there's a tanker/Brute with AOE damage available. You need to be a Gravity controller or Dominator.
Have the AOE Tanker stand in a corner, out of LOS of the mobs you're going to yank. If you're high enough level to have your Singularity, have that out as well.
Use Wormhole to group teleport the mob group on top of the tank. You can do this when you're out of LOS of the mobs yourself. (I call this the "Sliders" maneuver) Make sure your singularity (if you have one) is between you and any incoming mobs that wormhole missed. If you set it up right, the incoming mobs will be bounced back and kind of gather up around the corner. Then hit them with Dimension shift to keep them out of the fight until the tank and the rest of the team finishes with the first batch.
When the Slider mobs are almost all gone, let the rest through and hide behind your tank. While your team is cleaning up the rest, go find more mobs to port back to em. Keep feeding your team mobs in bite-sized chunks, until there are no more in range. -
If you think you're doing a 3 year veteran player's Dominator (2 levels higher than you) a "Favor" by inviting them to your waste-of-valuable-time bank farming team under the false pretense that you're going to "run his missions"

Do you have any idea how fast this would degenerate to "Level 50 Inv tanker 4 sale. $500.00 cheap! Activates Kheldian ATs!" -
My question is: how will this affect supergroups? Since they are currently on a server-by-server basis, will you simply be dropped from your current SG and have to find another one on your new server, or will the SG system be expanded to allow "all server" supergroups, with characters able to transfer servers and still participate in their SGs?
