  1. @Mr.CaptainMan re: Legion of Mutants vs. the Iron Agents.

Thanks for all the detailed critique here - glad you enjoyed this one too!

"I noticed upon entering that your customs don’t have bios this time. That’s a shame."

I will work on this. That's one part I just haven't got around to yet, but I'll work on it soon...

Glad you like the release of the Legion of Mutants. I agree with you, I think that this is actually the most interesting moment in the story...

"However, the Iradium Vice – I thought that was the name of another boss, so you might want to make it clearer up front that it’s an object. You could add ‘defeat’ to the boss nav instructions, for example, but ‘destroy’ or ‘disassemble’to the Vice instruction. That’s a very simple way of differentiating objectives in very little space."

-I'll go back and make that more clear. Thanks for the heads up on that.

"Cyber Monoliths I thought looked a bit silly..."

good to know - maybe I'll go back and do some reworking there...

Thanks for playing the arc and for reviewing it! I really appreciate the feedback and I'll let you know when I've made the changes you suggested here...

(also, I'll check out the Echo and The Audition and report back to you too )
  2. @Mr.CaptainMan re. Children of Astoria,

Wow - You totally made my day with what you said about this arc being "Just what I want from a simple one-mission arc".

I love creating short story arcs because I think it's fun to pack one mission with as many twists, turns, character and story as you can. I like long stories too, but you only have so much memory to play with, and so I do short stories because I love to load them up with as many original characters and interesting things as I can pack into each mission.

Dark Astoria is my favorite zone too - and I feel it's underutilized as well. Perhaps one of the things the developers will get out of Architect will be a sense of what people love about their game. I wish they would do more with Astoria, and maybe some of us Astoria fans will give them a sense of what a cool place they created there, and what might be some fun additions they could make to run further with it.

I'm glad the opening to the mission put a smile on your face. I'm very proud of how that part came together. The Children of Astoria was my last mission I created and that introduction was something I thought of after playing lots of missions and getting a feel for what makes a mission exciting.

And yeah, the Egg is fun - I think it's one of the most interesting objects, especially if you reinterpret it as something else...

About the "Nav Instructions", I'll have to look into that. I admit, I still don't understand how to use those or when they are helpful or not helpful to people. I'll look into that some more.

I wrote the bios pretty quickly the other day - I'll give them a re-read for cheese and see if I can edit them a bit

Thanks again for taking the time to check it out and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I'm off to work, but I'll respond to your other posts later...
  3. @Airhead: Thanks for the feedback on the Shadow Rune of the Warlocks. It was my first story arc I created and I put more time into that one than any of the others.

It sounds like both you and MrCaptainMan felt the history was difficult to follow. I'll look back on that and see if I can tighten it up some.

About Red - that's interesting that you thought the first Red was harder than the 2nd Red. The first Red is just a boss while the 2nd is an elite boss. I'm not sure why the second red was so much easier for you to beat... I'll try playing the two again and see what's up with that...

Also, I appreciate your wanting colored text for some parts - where in Architect do they allow you to color/bold/italicize your text? I haven't found that feature yet and would love to go back and color lots of text in the stories...

Thanks for all the detailed response to each section - I'll go back and fix the spelling errors you caught. (always good to have an outside eye for those things...) Also, will cut the additional reminders to find the Adamastor... Very helpful...

Regarding descriptions for the Dead Horsemen & Earth Warlocks, I'll try to add more descriptions, but I'm actually at the maximum memory for this mission and am not sure where to cut to add more detail, so I'll have to figure that out. But I would love to add the descriptions... I'll find some way to add it in.

Thanks again for all the time you put into reviewing this. I'll go back and rework those details and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
  4. wow - thanks for all the feedback all! I'm on my way to work right now, but I'll respond more specifically later. Thanks again for playing my arc!
  5. Thanks Mr. CaptainMan - looking forward to your thoughts on them!
  6. Hey all,

I would love it if anyone took a minute to check these out. I really put a lot of time into them and think they are a lot of fun!

Would really appreciate any feedback people have!

  9. And I hope that players who had informational posts in this forum purged will re-post so that people like me who have recently gotten back into reading the forums can see all the good information you were putting out there!
  10. Thank you Devs!

Great to see you watching and listening so closely to what we care about - always impressed with you guys!
  11. As someone who only recently got back into checking out the Board here specifically because of my interest in finding interesting Architect stories, I'm very disappointed that earlier threads were purged. As a long-term veteran of CoH, this is one of the few forums where new research on my part can really benefit my game play. This forum gives me ideas on what missions I might be interested in playing and it's a shame that they have gotten rid of so much valuable material that I missed entirely.

Thanks for creating this thread Bubbawheat - I support you 100%.
  12. Thanks for the feedback Bubbawheat. I will definitely work in your suggestions:

    - I think I will add some Crey mobs and dialogue to connect them to the story more.

    - That's good feedback on the Iradium Vice. I'll make that part more clear.

    - And I had been critiqued in the past for making the mission way too difficult, as I had placed many patrols in the mission so that the jail yard was crawling with Iron Agents. After being critiqued that it was way too difficult, I scaled it way back so the mission would be easier, even making the lieutenants minions because even as minions some of them are tough (the Ethereal Models, for instance, can really surprise you because they are stalkers, so when they were lieutenants, they were just way too tough...). But it sounds like I went too far in the other direction and I'll adjust it a bit back towards being more challenging again...

Glad you had fun with it - that's the thing I really wanted to accomplish.

If you get a chance, I did another mission that I think is also a lot of fun (and definitely more challenging) - "the Shadow Rune of the Warlocks." It's a magic themed mission about the Adamastor being captured by Warlocks who live in the underworld of Moth Cemetery, and tells some of the magical history of Moth. I'd be curious to see what you think.

Thanks again for the review, and I enjoyed your Matchstick Women Arc a lot!

    Red Warlock
  13. Hey Bubbawheat,

I just finished the Matchstick Women - great mission! Very fun!

    Here's my thoughts:

    - I liked the Contact and your use of the flame to envision the mission.

    - I'm not crazy about Arachnos maps, but that's not your fault. But the second map was good, and I love the third map, the Hellions fire map. That one was lots of fun.

    - The Matchstick women were fun characters. Interesting costume design. (especially the green flame ones - nice touch to mix their green aura powers with the fire theme). They were tough. I got careless a couple times and the choking one got me. They were tough enough to keep you on your toes, but not crazy tough.

    - The Elite Boss at the end was very tough. It was good to be near an elevator. That helps if you are a blaster and can snipe a little. She was tough to take out, but again, not overly challenging. She was just the right challenge at the end of the mission.

All and all, a very creative mission, challenging but not overwhelming, and a lot of fun to play. Five stars!
  14. I just wanted to say I love your idea here. There seems to be a lot of emphasis on putting down arcs for various reasons, rather than identifying the really good ones and validating people for all the work they put into their arcs.

I'm going to go through some of my favorites and list them here too. Many are not rated by the community with 5 stars, but are really good, and five star worthy to me!

    Thanks for creating this thread!
  15. Hi Bubbawheat,

if you have a chance, would love for you to check out my short:

The Legion of Mutants vs. The Iron Agents (200364). It's a single Mission. Here's the synopsis: "The Iron Agents, advanced cybernetic warriors developed by the Crey, have taken the Legion of Mutants hostage and are holding them at a high security prison facility. Break the mutants out of the Zig and they will help you fight the Iron Agents!

I'll check out Matchstick Women ASAP as well
  16. I added 2 arcs in this list. Not sure how to include all the links here...

    Under Magic:
-The Shadow Rune of the Warlocks (124319) Neutral.

    Under Mutant:
-The Legion of Mutants vs. the Iron Agents (200364) Neutral

  17. Yep, I originally had 'defeat all' in my mission as well, but decided to remove the 'defeat all' part for the same reason.

I kept the boss part in because for the most part, the bosses don't spawn on the platform, and if they do, most people have travel powers to get to them anyway, but the platform should either be more accessible without travel powers, or there shouldn't be spawns there... it's a bug that the devs should fix at some point I think...
  18. Yeah, I got one starred by a player for this problem and I'm so I'm trying to be responsive and fix the problem. They should be able to figure out a travel power at this point, but I can see how it could be annoying...
  19. I created a mission "The Legion of Mutants v. The Iron Agents" and have run into a map glitch that I can't find a way to fix.

The initial map of the jail yard where you enter is shaped like a giant "L", (you enter on the small part of the L, and then turn left to the long pathway of the L that goes all the way to the sewer entrance into the indoor area of the Zig).

Along the long side of the L, there is a raised pathway that you can only get to if you fly, super jump or teleport. One of my missions is to fight a boss, but no matter how I place the bosses (there are actually two that you fight), occasionally one of the bosses will get placed up high on this path. If you are superspeed only, or are lower level and don't have travel powers yet, you can't defeat the boss.

Is this a glitch, or is there a way I can fix this that I haven't figured out?

    more powersets
    powersets that don't involve weapons
    did I mention superpower powersets?"

agreed. All the focus on new content has been fantastic, but next up should be some new power options, especially for controllers/doms. (I don't mind if they involve weapons... just it's time for some more powers, especially for Controllers who haven't gotten anything new since Plant Control...).
  22. Wow, I was just coming here to the forums to write about how frustrating it is to receive a one star and no feedback, just an anonymous, unexplained critique.

I put countless hours into my project "The Adamastor's Tale", and I did it for fun. I wanted it to be a story that I think would be interesting to read and explore. Pohsyb rated it five star, but then someone came on last night and gave it a one star and they left no feedback or anything, and I'm left wondering "what didn't work and what could I do to fix this?" I think that parts of it might be too difficult, but I just don't know. I appreciate critique and would like to know if there is something I could fix to make it more user friendly, or if they just didn't like it, or what the deal was.

I think that anonymous stars without feedback are pretty worthless. The Architect has no clue why he got the rating. Also, users don't see the feedback, and so they don't know why something is rated by other users the way that it is. I'd like the Devs to change their rating system to require a feedback entry if you are leaving a star so that the authors who put a lot of work into their projects can at least have some clue as to why a user rated the way they did. It would also be great to have a user feature that allows users to see feedback and know why something was rated the way that it was.

For me the question of 'Why' something gets rated is probably more important for me to know than the rating itself.
  23. I think this is a great sign for the game.

I've felt for a while that the game was in limbo with MOU pending, and that this game might be treated as an afterthought when MOU comes online. Now, NC Soft has a stake in its success as one of their top games. I think that there really will be more creative energy put into the game now.

And Cryptic probably decided that it makes sense to have CoH/CoV out there as a competitor to MoU to promote the hero genre as a live field of gamers. In some ways, competition can be healthy for the growth of an industry, even between competitors. People might bounce back and forth between CoH/V and MOU, or even purchase accounts for both games (CoH/V is more of an underground hero game, while MOU will be more mainstream, and there may be appealing aspects to both games). This could help grow an online gaming market for superhero gaming like the WoW, Everquest, Lineage market of dungeon/mythic gaming.

Regardless of what this means for MOU and the broader gaming market, I think it definitely seems to empower the developers of CoH/V to plot out a more exciting creative future for this game with more investment in its success.
  24. This was a nice, noticeable change for dominators. But still not enough to make me want to play my Dom characters. I've tried my Dominator again and again even after this change and just find they are so much weaker than other AT's that I get very frustrated.

I took a controller to level 50 before starting CoV and it was such a slow process, at this point I don't have the patience for such a slow AT. The sad thing is that I think dominator powers are the most interesting to me and potentially fun. I just find that they move way to slow in soloing and offer too little in teaming.

I wish they would make Dominators more powerful because I would love to play them just for the interesting powers. But I hate feeling like I'm playing a character that basically has one hand tied behind his back compared to other AT's. They are just weaker. (and I've maximized his damage efficiency to try and make him more effective, using short range powers for damage, respec'ing him to try different power combinations - he's just not as effective as any of my corruptors, brutes or masterminds that I usually play).
  25. 1. Stealth was great as it was pre-I5. I think it should be left alone.

    2. Superior Invisibility was never used prior to I4 because it was awful. Now It's useful in I4. But with I5, Illusion Controllers are getting hit hard by having a severe reduction in pets, having Flash become an almost useless power, and having a limited ability to take advantage of the 2x damage compared to other controllers who have lots of holds. In addition to all that, making Superior Invisibility a weak power is just complete overkill in nerfing illusionists. LEAVE SUPERIOR INVISIBILITY ALONE!!
