Quote:I keep this in my mail, and use it on several of my characters. I've never seen it not work, or reset. It would also be nice if the "suppress extra effects" option actually worked properly. It doesn't. If it did, you would not have to enable it every single session. It returns to being disabled every single time you start the game. Yes, I've bugged it several dozen times.

/suppressCloseFx 1 <--- This turns on disabling of personal graphics effects if your camera is within a certain distance of your character.
/suppressCloseFxDist 300 <--- This sets that certain distance. BAB recommended 300 ft. If you don't ever want to see your GFX, then set it to zero. -
Quote:That's what I do.I find that blocking images from that address solved the problem for me. The only trouble is that each time I'm on a new machine I need to add the block.
It's not always the image for me, sometimes it's repetitive movement or flashing/strobe effects.
AdBlock Plus is your friend.
Edit: And I can't believe people still -rep. Ignore/block it/report it, and move on. -
Quote:Okay, I'm having problems understanding this comment. We all limit each other's creative process by the simple act of choosing names for our characters, that then prevent each other from having said names.
So, my choosing a name, which prevents anyone else from having that name, requires them to be more creative in finding a name for themselves, limits their creative process?
more creative = limiting creativity
Got it.

Mr. Incredible: "No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know, for a little bit? I feel like the maid; I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for... for ten minutes"

Quote:That is where I, and likely many others are going to differ with you on this subject. I do not consider any name so critical that not having it negates the creation of a character. And sometimes I just throw the character out of the window, because the name was too important.
It's still annoying, and it's still a problem..
I'm not gonna argue for more features. I doubt I'd ever USE a random name generator, I've got the internet, I can search for names I like and fit what I'm doing. But hey, cool beans.
If I've come up with a name for a character but find that it is already in use, then I move on, but cause if someone else already thought of it then it's too common.
I generally don't have problems coming up with names either, I've been stumped a time or two, and might actually have to crack open a second book.I doubt I'd use an in-game name generator myself, as it would have to incorporate the ability to offer alternatives to a name entered by a user (and I don't mean by tacking on a bunch of numbers.)

I've known a couple of people who's system couldn't handle the quick shifting graphics when they were SB'd. I would refrain fro SB'ing them unless we were in a fight and they were pretty much attacking from range and not moving anyway.

OD, imageshack wont scale down your images as you can see from this guy...
Keep clicking on him and you'll get the full picture.
Oh, and great image OD. -
Quote:Sam's post was more like "Step out of your 'I'm a snowflake and I want it.' universe."My point is, that your original post was just more of the "There's no problem, you just suck, shut up" mentality. People say that the naming system causes problems, and others say "No, you're just a bad name/character creator, see how good I am at it?" No problem or disagreement has ever been solved by one party denying that the problem exists, and then insulting the other one.
There have been countless suggestions in similar posts, that give people the tools to easily create a unique name for their characters. The most important tool being the one sitting on top of your neck, but there are websites that will generate names, online thesaurus', language translators, and even *gasp* books.
If someone is unwilling to even consider those options, then the problem lies solely on the head of the that person. I have no sympathy for the can't get any more selfish than "I want it." mentality.
As for a random name generator? /signed
Non-unique naming? /unjpowerrangersigned -
Well, Television Overlord, I'd say you were referencing 'Firefly' but the comic relief characters name was Jayne.

Lately, I've been seeing people get stuck inside the data stream when they exit their AE mission.
Watched one person hop around for a minute or two, and finally told them in local to use the /stuck command. The very next player to exit their mish had the same thing happen to them. -
Quote:It would likely be client side, same as sound changes and changing the font now does. So no matter what a user sets their name to look like, you would still see it as "xX-o\/\/0lV3reenz0ro-Xx". Any lag that they may experience is on their own shoulders.I think this is unlikely to happen, both for technical reasons and because people would invariably use it for Stupid.
(Not for Evil, just for Stupid.)
Names like this...
xX-o\/\/0lV3reenz0ro-Xx
are painful enough to look at already without letting them become
xX-o\/\/0 lv3 reenz0ro-Xx
EDIT: For anyone that want to know, there is a guide "Better in game font". -
I like using the Accent Lamp / Floor Tile combination myself. The increments on the lamp don't seem so hit or miss as they do with the safe, and the floor tile allows you to easily place blocks/desks on it's surface. Makes it much easier to create a second or even third floor.

Quote:Humans can generally be replicated within the CC, but non-humans not so much. Access to at least the models would be nice for things you just can't create in the CC.I'd like to start my response by thanking everyone for all their great questions! I'm sorry that I won't be able to answer them all.
Here are five questions however that I am able to answer. I hope it sheds some light on things for everyone.
1. Can X villain group have their levels expanded?
I spoke to Castle about this when I first came onboard. There are multiple issues with doing this. One example is that these critters were designed specifically to be used in that level range - putting them outside of it can cause any number of problems, whether it's balance problems, issues with the powers, even possible issues with the mission they're supposed to show up in. If we were going to broaden the level range of a group, we would want to include more powerful enemies instead of just the current ones at a different level - a good example would be what we've done with the Circle of Thorns. I would say if you wanted to expand the group, you could try creating custom characters similar to that group - one of the Dev Choices did an excellent job doing that with the Legacy Chain.
Quote:5. Can we have the option on escorts to lead them to a place other than the mission exit?
Yes, this is something that we are definitely going to be putting into Architect in the future, though I can't comment on when this will be happening.

Actually, I did it backwards. I took two of my favourite RPG characters (my bow wielding Druid, and my Dragon Disciple Sorcerer/Cleric) and combined them to make my main.
Edit: I sure miss those characters. The short range on my Druids bow of 392' made her a great deal of fun to play.

This was a difficult one as there are several that I really like, but Lousy_Day's piece is stunning.
My vote this round is for Lousy_Day. -
Well technically, you can change the font in the game. It's just not something available in 'Options'.
That was one of the first things I did, so that a capital 'I' looks like an 'I' and not a lowercase 'L' (and vise versa.) -
You can do the same thing with the hot dog stands in the Rogue Isles.
-
I just don't like all the clutter, I would keep it, and everything else minimized unless I wanted to look at something.

Cool, glad you got your problem solved.
You'll be glad to know that Going Rogue (GR) will be ATI compatible, and we should see a drop in problems.
