Ah, but as someone, somewhere, pointed out, there is the issue that, really, sword and mace and axe could have been one set, if you could customise the weapon model (which you now can) and the damage type (which you can't, currently). They could be two sets now, one for Lethal, one for Smashing. (Well, it doesn't quite work due to the different animations for katana, but it's the thought that counts).

If the power system were less hard wired, you'd see a lot more sets in the 'not-weapon' category.

Also, whenever people do this comparison, they tend to look only at Scrappers/Tanks/Brutes/Stalkers and totally ignore all the other ATs, who frankly have very few weapon-based powers. What is there? AR and Dev on Blasters, Archery and Trick Arrow, Masterminds tend to be kind of gadget-based on their secondary...

I think the problem with 'dual pistols' is that it doesn't fit the AT system.

Pistols are ranged, so they aren't scrapper weapons.

Pistols have short range and if you aren't treating them as a melee weapon, they aren't really different enough from AR.

I suspect you're ignoring the clamp on the BaseToHit + ToHitBuffs - ToHitDebuffs - (Defense - DefenseDebuffs) bit.

People jump on people who start threads like this, not because it's drivel, not because it makes it worse, but because they are sick to the hind teeth of people running the game down, generally with half-baked or downright ludicrous concepts of why.

Londoner's 'statistic' above is a fine example of the level of statistical veracity we can expect in these threads.

In all honesty, people should probably just not respond at all. The threads, unloved and unread, would more rapidly fall off the front page and be consigned to the bit-bucket of forum history.

The best one I've had so for was the Vanguard Merit one while on Test. That definately does drop an extra merit on Vanguard missions, and also actually drops an extra VM on any other mission you do.

I suspect that the mechanism they are using for this may have to be retuned, more gain of time per time offline.

According to my estimasions if you log over around midnight, and log on around 6pm, you get a bit over 5 minutes time on the WW teleport (and possibly on most other things). This is not enough to be even vaguely useful.

However, I'm pushing for the CH and Shop ones, because the Accolade they produce gets rather useful Invention Creation tokens (25% cost reduction on, like half a million Inf for a level 50 invention... that is worth having).

Everyone is told they aren't allowed to make copyright violating clones every time the start the game, but that doesn't mean they have actually read any of it and know they can't.

Just because someone is given pointers to something, do not assume that they actually bother reading it.

However, to a new person starting this game, the current rash of rather stupid DOOM threads can't exactly make it look like this game has long to live.

Yeah, I have successfully used this power all of once. That was on a villain who I had to run over to Facemaker. She'd been logged out for enough time that she had 30 whole minutes of time, and it was just about long enough to use the Teleport to get her back to her logout position.

It is, very much, a dumb way to run that power.

In turn, I never really understand why people complain about WoW's graphics. They're perfectly alright, though I do agree that they are rather clunky.

CoX's graphics are fairly amazing and I do, honestly, think half the time that people should quit comparing the game to some uber-graphics-sucking monster thing they found on their Playstation 3 or whatever.

Oh sure, it'd be nice if they could upgrade the graphics, but it also probably won't be nice to lose all the players who can't afford to upgrade their graphics cards either.

One of the reasons that WoW is so popular: it runs adequately on a four year old machine with a graphics card that should have been replaced two years ago and no memory.

So, do people want more players, or better graphics? Make your minds up, children.

They won't do that. People like Phantoms want CoX to fail. If he's moving to CO, he wants everyone else to go, otherwise he'll feel a bit of a fool.
