  1. As the title says please post your F/F build. With IO's.
  2. Scrapper Burn does not have fear like it used. But does cause a lot of damage and will make mobs rub away in the same way any hard hitting damage power can. It's my second power after fire circle. On my F/F scrapper.
  3. My scrapper just hit 46, can please post a a lvl 50 build if influence is no object? I know i19 coming out, if its possible can someone share one now please.

But a couple of your statements don't add up for me...

You are a returning player, that either PL'd or 'ground' your way past more than half the content in the game, and have already twinked out your character with an infusion of 1 billion inf.

I understand that some players like to play at max level, blow through the lower levels as quickly as they can. (I think we heard from some of them when they went through Praetoria... "This **** is nuts!" "These mobs are too hard!" "WTF!" Granted the ambushes get a bit mind-numbing sometimes.)

Likely what you are looking for is the I19 Incarnate content, much of it is for "end-game" players. Definitely check out the info page on it up in Announcements.

And Welcome back to the game.

<copies entire post, as these ******* forums have logged me out twice while attempting to post>
You're assumption is incorrect, I have not been power leveled, I did a large infl infusion from a friend, but I got to 41 mostly by soloing, catching an on occasional group from my SG. Out of 41 may be I got 5 levels through grouping the rest were done solo doing Arc's. I haven't even tried AE until level 39.

Did Spidey start his career fighting Venom and the like, or did he work his way up to it?

It is not out of context for a character to evolve as they go along, the precedent is in the comics themselves. I think your expectations may be a little unreasonable, considering the game actually has addressed many of your concerns.

As for in game traveling, when do players in WOW get mounts these days?
    20 going to be 10.

Used to be 40. In WoW that too has been a sour point for many veteran players. I'm guessing they will introduce a basic mount at level 1 within the year. Though level 10 in WoW can be achieved solo in about 4-6 hours of actual game play. Plus most starting zones have been re-designed that you have little to no running around, plus mission givers will have a similar feature as COX has "call button".

Just because something is bad in several MMO's, does not mean it shouldn't be addressed in COX.

    Best server??

I started on Guardian 3 weeks ago, ended up on Freedom. I have to say that just judging by the amount of active players a group to join. Freedom has been excellent!

    I read it just fine.

That is also a very good point. But at least its more so then it was 6 years ago. Like I said earlier 6 years ago, it was quite limited to what AT could so well or at all.

Really? I dont think having a superhero take on 2 minions and a LT is very super. This is where I dont think we will agree. This is where personal preference and perception of each player is going to be different.

Definitely I think making fitness inherent is a great move in making early levels more casual and fun. Specially having Stamina for endurance heavy toons like my F/F scrapper, who was sitting there watching the blue bar quite a bit the first 15 levels.

IMHO, the game tries to simulate low to mid-level super types such as Batman, Wolverine and those wacky supers from Mystery Men. They're not gods and can be overwelmed by sheer numbers or powerful weapons. You develop your super toon from scratch and try to overcome anything thrown at you with your wits and powers.

If you have any ideas about how you could be more super, I suggest posting in the Developer's forum and maybe, just maybe, the devs can accomodate your ideas.
There is a grey line, its not being god or nothing. I think the later levels 40-50 are well balanced, but the first 20-25 definitely are not for a super hero game. You can have a well balanced game with fair amount of risk and still make you feel super at lvl 1.

Even superman had nemesis, and Kryptonite. I never said I wanted an " I win" button.

Fly being slow. First off, Fly has been sped up a couple of times, but for the sake of argument we'll deal with the fact that Flight at cap speed is still slower than other alternatives. There are two main reasons for this commonly given.

The first is that Fly's relative slowness is really its only drawback. It has full 360 motion and allows you to park whereever you like in that space (unlike TP or SJ). If Fly were as fast/faster than the other alternatives, it would fast become the only choice (i.e. other travels would be viewed as "gimp" by comparision.

The second reason often given is that flying at very fast speeds can be very graphically demanding as the game is having to render things all around you very quickly. While it seems likely that with the advent of Ultra Mode some of the technical limitation are falling away, there is probably still a point at which making Fly faster just isn't feasible.

Death Knight / comparison to WoW. Obviously, this isn't WoW, and comparisons between the two games don't really completely hold up, nor is it necessarily a good idea to make this game more like WoW. Starting someone most of the way through the leveling cycle makes sense in a game that revolves around an ever-increasing level cap and end-game level raids. If the game starts at the cap, getting to the cap faster makes sense as an epic reward.

That just isn't the case here, and skipping the early game in this paradigm would be a disaster for a number of reasons - not least of which being depopulation of the lower-level areas. In a game that's already heavily instanced, giving the false apperence of emptiness at times, this is not a good move.

Furthermore, since this game has always been designed primarily around alts and replay rather than around endgame, rushing just doesn't make all that much sense.

As for travel powers at 14, that's been addressed in a variety of ways and for most people is probably a nonissue now. Level 5+ characters can get rocket packs from Safeguard/Mayhem missions. Players of any level can buy jetpacks from vendors in the Shard and in Grandville. There are jetpacks granted by dayjobs. There are jetpacks craftable with Inventions. There are holday jetpacks. There are epic ATs (PBs and WSs) who start the game with travel at level 1. We've got a lot of travel goin' on.

I'm not trying to be confrontational here; I'd much rather have a conversation about this as I'm intersted in just what it is you want in order to 'feel super' or how precisely you feel the game needs to evolve. What I've seen thus far in GR suggests we're already doing some significant evolution, but pehraps it's not the direction you would wish.
I don't see you being confrontational at all, neither am I trying to be. If I didn't feel invested in the game, I wouldn't be posting here.

I would just let my 30 days expire and quit. Wether you want to compare to WoW or any other MMO or not, that's what most customers do. For COX to be around another 6 years, or another 2 or for that matter, it must evolve, and keep bringing new people in, and old players back. If it doesn't, it will go away.

Loyal players who have been around for a long time, don't want to hear whats wrong, but you have to realize you wont have a game, if whats wrong doesn't get addressed. You are right COX has improved drastically, I have admitted so several times. But at the same time as a player with fresh set of eyes, and someone who is has played literally every major MMO in the last 20 years. There are some blaring issues that need fixing.

I'm aware of the jetpack and the items you mentioned. Why have all these band-aids when you can just give everyone a choice of travel power at lvl 1? I also read a lot COX is about the journey not the end-game content.

Thats fine too, but why not make the journey more fun? SO what if everyone takes flying? How is that going to effect game balance. I love Super Jump and doubt I would take flying unless I want to enforce a concept for my toon.

Why have mission maps so poorly designed that you spend 5 minutes killing, and 15 running around finding the objectives? I can make a list, but you get the idea, these small things, honestly should been fixed 18 issues ago

Do you get your raptor pack at level 5/6 from the safeguard/mayhem mission and then the zero-g pack at 10/11 from the next safeguard/mayhem mission? Sure it's not the same as your own travel power but they do the job of getting you from place to place.

Once I am in the mid-upper 30s most of my characters feel awfully super and take on packs of enemies with varying degrees of effort but I do plan their builds and get the IOs I need to get the job done.

Even with SOs and common IOs they can mow down some fairly tough enemies.
A friend of mine gave me a billion inf, I started to use IO sets around 32. Now that I'm level 41 I'm as outfitted with IO sets as I can, and yes I feel quite super now. But I definitely didn't even start to feel super until late 30's. The first 20-25 levels it was about like I remembered it 5 years, except with more content, and a lot less bugs

In many cases, when players say "I wanna feel super' what they mean is "I want to be ridiculously overpowered", and game developers cannot allow that. A game that you cannot lose quickly becomes a pointless game and a boring one.

Now, I do recognize that many players of this game are fans of comic books and the superhero mythos in general and they want to feel closer to that when they play their characters. I get that, I'm not saying that everyone with this complaint is looking to be grossly overpowered - but I do think that people need to consider that this an MMO and not a single-player comic book simulator, and to take into account what that really means.
I have to disagree with you on this when WoW added the hero class "Death Knight" it allowed players to start at the last 2/3 of the leveling cycle and definitely felt like a hero/epic class. Granted they nerfed the end game power of the class. But it still allowed you to experience being an epic class until you level from 55 to 80.

I have been playing MMO's for about 20 years when they were nothing more then MUD's. So understand that if you make things to easy people will get bored and leave. Its all about balance. That said you are a superhero, why do you have to wait until level 14 to get a traveling power? Why is fly so slow, its smalls stuff like that drove me away from the game the first time.

This time I bought the item pack that gave me ninja run at lvl 4, so Its not a big deal anymore. But COX has to evolve much further if its going to grow past its loyal following. It definitely has since I played five years ago, but not as much as I would of hopped.

If anything, I end up feeling *more* powerful here than I do elsewhere.
In those other games you are not playing a "Superhero" in COX you are. Going 1on1 is expected in most MMO's. but in a superhero MMO, feeling like a superhero I feel should always be important.

Definitely agree. I'd love to see an updated F/F guide from a veteran, at least some good suggestions how to IO set slot the powers. Thats were I'm at right now and not sure the old guides are still accurate.

What patrol pool do you guys recommend for F/F scrapper, sometime today I'll get to choose, I'm thinking body mastery for more survivability, but another AOE might be good as well. Appreciate any suggestions?

There is no way to move characters between accounts, since that would open up a huge hole for gold farmers to just start making people level 50 characters, and then sell them.
Fair enough, I can definitely see the abuse potential there. I dont think it stops leveling services that are sold, and even WoW gave in and lets you do account mergers and transfers for $25.

I definitely pay attention to noise glowies makes. But as for you first sentence that is not true in at least have the missions. This morning I did 4 lvl 39 missions. 3 of them with one objective left did not show up, and all 3 were in one of the floor levels small rooms.

It does happen sometimes, but at least half the time it does not.
  20. My F/F Scrapper is now 40, I rolled him about 3 weeks ago. He is very squishy, but once I got tough 3 slotted, and my shields 4 slotted, and health 4 slotted, things have become much safer for me. Once I get Weave I imagine I'll become even more survivable. Ive read many posts about people doing +3 levels and doing AV's, there is no way my F/F could do that. In fact

I turned bosses off for a long while, because they killed me quite a bit. But now at 40 I can do -1 Level and +3 players and earn good exp, inf, salvage, and overall fun. Getting Circle 6 slotted, and Burn 4 slotted makes all the difference. In fact I tried both Blaze and Burn, and Burn is a much better choice.

I'm not sure why so many guides tell you not to take burn, since it does not fear anymore, its one of the best damage attacks a F/F scrapper has. Great AOE compliment to Circle.

There is a little map feature now that helps you find that last enemy or mission object. Usually a red or white arrow.
Some of the maps are... as you say, but I think there is a change coming to them (I could be wrong). For me though, I've done the maps alot so when the team comes to the big room with several floors.... ok, lets start at the top and move down. (or start from bottom to top).

    Welcome back to the game
Yes its great when it happens, but like I said half the maps it does not do that for some reason.
  22. I pre-ordered and bought them game originally back in 2004. Played on and off again for about 18 months, mostly off and then canceled.

About three weeks ago I bought going rogue expansion and started playing again, got my Fire/Fire scrapper to 40 and a few others to early teens.

I'm having a lot of fun. Many great changes have happened in the past 5 years. I can actually solo 95% of the content now, which is a great improvement over the beginning, when you had to play a certain class with a certain build to solo at all.

Much less traveling, specially at lower levels, which is a great improvement, over five years ago when I spent 2/3 of my time traveling between missions, and before travel powers the game was down right annoying.

Overall I have been very happy, but COX still lacks being able to feel "super". I know some prefer the struggling superhero, but I don't, and I admit it has improved over five years ago. If I choose I want to be superman and take on 100 baddies. Yes I know at 40 I can go to low level areas and wipe greys all day long with no danger, that's not what I mean

The number one point of annoyance for me is map searching in missions. In about 50% of missions I still spend 80% of my time searching for that hidden last hostage or glowie, that is stuck in some little room on 3rd floor in the corner. This was one of the reasons I quit 5 years ago, and largely I don't see this issue has been fixed yet. Sometimes you get lucky and you will get a clue to where that last glowie is, but many times you don't.

Some maps, like caves and COT pyramid maps, are just PITA. They are so poorly designed, that often then not I spend more time searching every nook for the mission objectives, that I lose the fun of playing.

I think COX is the best Heroes game out, Champions which I did try, is very poor in comparison. But DC Online around the corner something has to change for COX. Just showing all map objectives or after you kill lets say 50% of NPC's then show them would make this game 100% more fun for me.

Now for a question, when I bought Going Rogue I opened a new account, instead of adding the key to my old account, is there a way to transfer characters between accounts?
  23. Thanks to your guide I made a F/F scrapper and it has been fun but though the first 25 LEvels. I'm now 39 and loving it. I do have to say that burn is now easily a 4 star power. I prefer it over blaze.
  24. I vote for Fire/Fire Scrapper. I'm only lvl 39. When I'm in groups I easily out damage everyone.
  25. My lvl 39 F/F Scrapper took burn at 38 added 2 slots at 39 and put oblate io's in it. I like it a lot more then blaze. Between circle an burn I can now easily do +3 player missions solo and take out A group of lt and minions easily. Burn is way underated. I will 6 slot it and pass on blaze.
