How is the survivability of a Fire/Fire?

One of my favorite characters was a fire/fire tanker. It was just flat out fun to play, but from a tanker point of view, it was pretty squishy. Given that a tanker with this build is squishy, I'm wondering if that would make a scrapper even more so.

Yes, a Scrapper Fire/Fire will be even more squishy. You can build it to be a little more survivable than baseline, but you'll probably end up sacrificing one of its main strengths - damage output. To me, the way to build and play a Fire/Fire is like a blapper with mez protection. Think of it that way, and you'll probably be pretty happy with your survivability. Compare it to a regular Tanker or Scrapper, and you'll probably be deeply disappointed.

My F/F Scrapper is now 40, I rolled him about 3 weeks ago. He is very squishy, but once I got tough 3 slotted, and my shields 4 slotted, and health 4 slotted, things have become much safer for me. Once I get Weave I imagine I'll become even more survivable. Ive read many posts about people doing +3 levels and doing AV's, there is no way my F/F could do that. In fact

I turned bosses off for a long while, because they killed me quite a bit. But now at 40 I can do -1 Level and +3 players and earn good exp, inf, salvage, and overall fun. Getting Circle 6 slotted, and Burn 4 slotted makes all the difference. In fact I tried both Blaze and Burn, and Burn is a much better choice.

I'm not sure why so many guides tell you not to take burn, since it does not fear anymore, its one of the best damage attacks a F/F scrapper has. Great AOE compliment to Circle.

Definitely agree. I'd love to see an updated F/F guide from a veteran, at least some good suggestions how to IO set slot the powers. Thats were I'm at right now and not sure the old guides are still accurate.

What patrol pool do you guys recommend for F/F scrapper, sometime today I'll get to choose, I'm thinking body mastery for more survivability, but another AOE might be good as well. Appreciate any suggestions?

I would go Fire
Body don't really offer much for your survivability. It is picked up more for the endurance recovery it offers.

If you are willing to take a short trip over to the darkside long enough you could pick up the patron pools and take soul mastery for shadow meld - fully slotted with defense/recharge it will give you 31% def to all for 15 seconds and be up every 45 seconds - thats without any global recharge, just the ED cap. Its very nice for blunting alpha's and if you have even a little def will leave you at the softcap for that 15 seconds.

You would need to go villain, take a patron and run the first patron arc. Once you do that you can switch back to hero and still use the patron pool. The only drawback is there really isn't all that much in soul mastery that is worth taking other than shadow meld. Dark blast is ok (and you pretty much have to take it to get shadow meld) and if you want a hold, soul storm is decent but there is no AE at all, just a snipe and a pet summons that is on too long a recharge to really be useful.
