    5 Years later...

My COX/GR experience is short but has been great!

Only into my 3rd month... But have a 50 now and have been enjoying the game very much. Especially AE even if people don't play arcs anymore. They're still fun to make.

Going Rogue did a good job of advertising. Seemed everywhere I went I kept seeing the ads. I'd known COH had been around for years but was too busy with other MMORPG's to give it a chance. GR came out at just the right time for me.

So I'm as green as Kermit but plan on staying a long time.
  2. Happy Birthday!!

First I was early and now I'm late! Hope you had a good one!
  3. I solo ALLL the time. That's just how I am and where I find the most enjoyment from MMORPG's. Yes it goes against the grain of what an MMO is suppose to be. But I have found there''s many out there just like me.

I'm only into my 3rd month and still have much to learn. Already made it to 50 on my MM+mercs. Elite Bosses no problem for most of them. There's a couple who just do me in 'Nightstar?' Not so great on remembering names in my old age. AV's I can't even hurt.

Anyway I love it. Getting stronger and stronger until you're finally able to take down that EB or even AV. The way COH is designed nobody is really gaining anything from it besides their own self gratification. So what's the harm?

The difficulty system is awesome. It's flexibility allows you to ramp up NPC's at your own discretion. With the system in place I don't know why anyone would complain the game is too easy or hard. Just go adjust your difficulty level.

What you guys know already it's probably what keeps many people subscribed. People who've played this game for 5 years I can't imagine what keeps them going outside of rerolling or building an UBER character.

WOW had to spoon feed me content regularly for 5 years to keep me playing. Still have my WOW sub but am way more into COH now.

Nerfing sucks... We've all been there in other games. When your class gets nerfed you get mad. Once again the difficulty system should take out any reason to nerf anyone. I'm all for the making our heroes more heroic.

If you want a challenge. There's many challenges to be had within COH. Roll a new class combo or ramp up your difficulty level.
  4. First prize I ever won! Seriously, lol...

If anyone wants to see the pack I put together an Origins Pack Preview in the AE building. All the capes and auras are displayed.

    ARC ID# 461733

    Or just search for @Jinkobi.
  5. Well tonight I won the costume contest for the Halloween Event. One of 3 winners so I'm not like special or anything.

Anyway this meant I got the Origins pack today! 4 days early- pretty cool. It was getting hard and a bit expensive showing everyone the new cloaks and auras.

What I decided to do since I have spare slots and was very bored is create an arc to showcase the new cloaks and auras!

The models are only wearing the new items. Because I wanted it to be easy to see and not be confused with old items. Managed to get every cape and aura.

This arc will eventually be deleted after the pack is out. It was just a way to show that AE can be used for other useful things. So there's no story or mission. You walk in and look at the new stuff and walk out.

To check it out the ARC ID# 461733 or just search for @Jinkobi.

Enjoy- now I'm off to bed!

Had to come back and add this. A big disappointment in the pack was that long hair clips right through the new capes. Does not look good at all... So I had to use short hair on every single model. Expect a patch to fix this for sure just an FYI moment.

I happy to hear I'm not the only one and since we submitted around the same time I'm certain he has just not reached our arcs yet on the list.

    WN
Maybe there's some confusion going around.

Dr. Aeon sent me a tell in game that said thank you for submitting your arc to the contest. Someone had played my arc which I know was him. Because it was like arc played 20 tickets- tell from Dr. Aeon Thanks for submitting your arc etc... Plus I don't get any plays being new so it was really easy to single out that it was him.

ANYWAY! I got that confirmation email (to my real email address not ingame) like October 6th because I entered on the 4th.

Hope the info helps. As long as you got the confirmation WN you should be in fine shape.

    ARCS By @Jinkobi

    On another note:

Almost done with my latest arc. Although starting to think it might be my last for a long while. This will be my 4th and I put in several weeks on each one. Many hours... I treat every arc like a contest arc. Say my last because I've advertised, made threads, even went out on a limb and created posters. All of this and I've got 0, ZERO, zitlch, nada plays. Last person to play one of my arcs was Dr. Aeon for the contest.

My last arc is a comedy which I'm very proud of... Stay tuned! I plan on having a contest for my new arc. But since I have like 20 mill to my name it's going to be on hold until I can farm a few 100 mill. There will also be a very special prize for 3 people.

    rant OFF.
  8. If your old PC isn't completely disabled then you could use a router and set up a home network to get at that drive. But I imagine if that PC was working you'd already copied the stuff onto a DVD or emailed them to yourself.

Otherwise there's always Laplink. You have to buy the cord and software which is cheaper than buying a router.

    http://www.laplink.com/

But once again the PC you're copying from has to be in running condition.

Thanks for reminding me though. Been meaning to back up my ARCS for a while now. I get lazy with this Alienware recovery. Outside of a harddrive failure it preserves all my old stuff and resets to factory settings.
  9. Here's what I'm trying to do. Recreate Ms. Liberty out of costume for my story arc. Here's about as close as I've come. The pics look a bit dark- sorry! Think I have the face number right- Face 13?

    Hero 1:

    And a random Hellion:

I'm aware the color and body shape are slightly off on BAB and color is a little off on Blue Steel... plan on fixing that soon. Hero 1 is as close as possible, I found out the hard way his suit's blue isn't available in the costume editor's color palette.
That is a friggen AWESOME Ms. Liberty recreation.

I'm working on a recreation of her myself for an AE arc. But I just can't get the face right, lol.

Sorry to necro this thread it just is exactly what I'm looking for. If you're still around would love to have a copy of that costume file for my arc (and will give you credit for it). PM me on here and I'll send you my email.

Otherwise anyone have the face number? I've gone through them all over and over and missing it somehow.
  11. This Arc really isn't designed for teams- but ah well. Never had a team to test it out before and would be very interested in the results. Main goal of the Arc was to make you feel as if you'd visited a haunted house. Think it's got played twice ever by another person...

There's been a few similar threads so I'm just going to copy/paste what I posted there.

    ----
I wrote an ARC just for Halloween a while back. It was my first ARC but I put a lot of work into it regardless . Really love to see it get some play.

Halloween Weenies! The Superguys vs The Stinky Pumpkin

    ARC ID# 448348

It's a short 1 mission designed for anyone. Even the very young. While it is possible to die it'd be pretty hard.

The mission is filled with witches, ghosts, zombies, pumpkins, skeletons, etc! Playing it will get you into the Halloween spirit. Think of it as a trip to a haunted house. There's also comedy elements as it isn't hardcore horror.

The story centers around The Superguys! Who are like the Three Stooges of heroes. A satired parody based on some familiar figures. But the entire story and characters are completely original.

Well The Superguys have got themself into a real jam here! Sent by a werewolf lawyer 'Lon Kibblebits' to deal with The Stinky Pumpkin and his minions! They were last seen surrounded by an assortment of ghouls in the spooky graveyard. Help them save Halloween and defeat Stinky!

Put together a poster for it.

  12. What I wouldn't give for static mob/object placement.

You might try putting the Marge guarding an object that isn't a required objective. Put the Boss + object guarded by miniboss all set to back on a good map.

Maps are very important. With some you can even get reliable spawns on objects. Set up your mission objectives then run through the maps.

The AE is a great tool, and needs more attention. These contests are a great way of doing just that. I really like the idea, and it's a goodway of generating a positive "buzz" towards the AE.

    However...

I seriously do not get the limitations this contest has been subjected to!

As pointed out by a few other posters before me, not being able to participate to one of CoH's many contest because of where we live, is annoying. I can understand that when the prize is of a monetary value or a physical object, but the prize here is nothing more than a Player title and a gold star... I mean really. No one outside the game would be affected by this; no borders to cross, no money to transfer, nothing!

If at all possible, I would appreciate a detailed explanation on why not every CoH player could participate in this?

My suggestion? Make a different set of rules for when contests have prizes that are related to in-game contents/items only, and require no involvement from outside factors. That way everyone would be able to participate, it would cut down the complaints in these kinds of threads by 1/3, and most likely draw more attention. Not to mention might be waaaay easier on Paragon studios to generate contest prizes? Player Titles and AE status don't cost a thing to give out like actual money or physical prizes, and other ideas could include special enhancements, rare IO sets, or even custom items so the player would be the only one to have it?

    Thank you for reading.
I don't think there's one person who are still involved with MA that would disagree it needs some love. Many bugs still need to be addressed and a list of options we'd all love to see.

More challenges and a challenge ARC slot would do so much for the community. This challenge pulled a lot of us together and it was a joy helping and being helped with the ARCs.

But yeah the rules need revision. The blanket rules for every contest leave out people who pay the same subscirption as everyone else. Unless there's some other reason dealing with publicity or something.

Anyway I'm just another person out here who one of the main reason they play COH is because of MA. I know Going Rogue is the focus these days but don't forget us architects!
  14. Good luck to everyone!

Such talent. I would hate to be in Dr. Aeon's shoes!

    UPDATE:

Now with more custom creatures! Added several new NPC's and updated costumes for many of the NPC's. Lots more CLASSIC Halloween style monsters. Really I'd put my creations up against any of the one's created for Halloween by NCsoft.
  16. Just to let you know Bubb I did go through your ARC twice.

Really I found your ARC impeccable for the most part. Which is why I never got back with you with anything useful. Wish I could have done more. Also have some health problems which have got in the way of many things the past couple of weeks.

Anyway I thought it was a good story. One thing that became obvious is that your writing style and mine are like two ends of the spectrum. You are very concise while I tend to tangent.

I was going to say add more text/be more descriptive because that's how I would do it. But realistically it all works in the video game environment and it's just your style.

You're a wonderful writer and I liked the story.

The only negative thing I could have said is that the doppleganger angle has been done to death and if you're going to do it they need a twist. With the tip missions we're fighting a doppleganger every other day.

Like my ARC Timeshift Vietnam is a heavy doppleganger ARC but I added time travelling, parallel universes, and even Vietnam to try and spice it up.

After writing a doppleganger arc myself there was one other thing that may be problematic. Random powers on dopplegangers. Running test after test I found that random powers to be WAY too random.

So you can see that my suggestions weren't even things you could really change or even want to change.

Best of luck to you big Bub!

Nice people like you W_N make up for all the idiots. Thank you.

Nice title, that does seem to fit better.
    Isn't she something?

I wanted to say thanks too for all your contributions to the AE community WN! Your contests, kind words, and being one of the only people who plays my ARCS. Without your support I would have probably gave up on AE completely.

In my real life I have been quite ill for several years. Just last week after spending a very crappy day in hospital. I came home to a wonderful message from WN who'd played my ARC out of the blue on her own time. That really made my day and she didn't even know it!

So thanks WN for being WN!
  18. In light of your goals with the ARC it makes sense.

    Good title!

But you know the first thing that came to mind when I heard the original title wasn't silly/comedy. The first image that came into my head was you were going to have one really weird day, lol. Only later to find out Blappy was a TV personality.

    ARCS By @Jinkobi

Well I thought I'd start my own thread for my ARCS. A place where I can read feedback more easily and of course announce my creations.

Right now I only have 3 ARCS out and many written inside my head. Had planned on buying my other 5 slots in October but it's going to be November. With 6 MMORPG subsciptions you have to cut corners somewhere!

While my poster design skills may not be the best. I've put together a couple of poster/book covers for fun.

    First off!

    The Vengeful Heart
    ARC ID# 454861

This was my entry into the Dr. Aeons 3rd challenge. Since it was a challenge ARC it had to fall within the contest guidelines. Which means it isn't something I'd normally write.

The story puts you in the shoe's of a hero at a point of crisis within their life. With a ruthless enemy that would love nothing more than to see your destruction. Will you do the right thing according to the law? Or follow your heart...

  22. Lol I was just rephrasing your original title If by some odd ball reason I won it's so close to the original title that I couldn't accept a prize with a clear conscience.

Finally played all the way through your yet to be named ARC today. Had started it before but wanted to wait and see your revamp. Very awesome job! Felt bad having to kill ya though, heheh. Probably one of the rare ARCS I would play again.

Really finding it hard to come up with a name apart from the original. Like I mentioned before the original title or the variation of it rock. Nobody is going to forget that title.

    That's my humble opinion
  23. You know what a narcissist I've felt like playing my own ARCS over and over? Glad I'm not the only one, lol.

I play my own ARCS lots... Since nobody else will I might as well play them right, heheheh.

But I never replay others ARCS. I don't even like rewatching movies or repeats on TV so guess it's natural. Also I want to spread myself out to hit more authors.

Like I said, still working on it (when I have time) but for now that is the best fix I can find.
Ahh k. I had that problem too and used an objective that spawned when the boss died.

Maybe have something to search instead- a clue, maybe some notes.

Maybe I missed something on the mission door exit? All that happened when I finished was to find an exit. Was an ambush suppose to happen or something?

When you have a find the exit mission you know they aren't bad and how I've seen many people use them- An ambush happens so you have to find the exit to prevent the mission complete before the ambush. OR you go in and there aren't many spawns- get to the back- interact with an object then all the NPC's spawn.

Like I said maybe I missed something. To me it seemed like the only reason you had to find the exit was just for the sake of finding the exit.
