  1. Yes.

In fact, my regular main has retired from general super hero work to maintain his mass-production prosthetic and robotics company. He isn't "old" (he'd now be in his late thirties), but.... yes.
  2. *head scratch*

I didn't know introverted or extroverted had anything to do with playing a video game. Seriously, who are you interacting with? Personally, I think there's a fair chance you're all imaginary, so I feel no angst about teaming or solo'ing. I prefer teaming, and I love me a good iTrial (though, SLAM's are dumb).

    *shrug*

Devs did it perfect with the new DA. Go Devs.
  3. Elec/TW tank with 200% recharge after Hasten. I autoclick Whirling Smash, so....

    Spin Doctor. :3

A teammate told me they were getting dizzy.
  4. I think this Hulk looks FAR more organic than any other version.

.....I recently read World War Hulk so I'm on a bit of a trip. O_o
  5. I know the feeling. Just started Incarnating my Elec/TW tank and it's already retired my original main Elec/SS.

TW is one of the most smash power sets I've seen and I solo'd the entire Praetorian arc at AV level with it.... except Domi, but she doesn't count.

    Grats on 50!

This brings up another question: You say that you "frequently" gain enhancement percentage, but am I right to suspect that there's a not insignificant number of situations when you do?

It brings up another question, too: I like uniformity, but can I slot with Set Inventions and still have at least my roughly equivalent attacks be slotted the same? This isn't as vitally important as keeping everything at level 50, but I really would like to have, say, Rib Cracker and Shin Breaker slotted the same, since I use them almost interchangeably in combat. I know they have their different debuffs and I do try to make use of that sometimes, but in general, they're two straight-up attacks that mostly do damage.

This reminds me of something else I wanted to ask: How many holes would I need to leave with Inventions builds like this? The above talks about melee an AoE defence, but it leaves the character vulnerable to ranged damage. This is a build that concerns me, especially considering SR is one of the few sets which offers perfectly uniform defence all the way around.
I wanted you to not have to respec anything, which is what I did with my SS/EA when IOs first hit. All I did was slot Kinetic Combats and soft capped myself to SL Def, and still kept my SOs.

Edit: This is a quick test to see how you fair and introduce you. So, just slot the Touch of Death and see the difference! If it works for you and makes you smile, keep going. If not, well, nothing gained nothing lost.

The character has everything from Street Justice and everything from Super Reflexes, and there really isn't anything I want to give up. For pools, right now she has Combat Jumping, Super Jump, Conserve Power, Physical Perfection and I intend to take Focused Accuracy and Hasten. I ran the list of power pools that made sense for her concept and were things I didn't hate, and the only ones I came up with were Speed, Presence and Body. Fighting made thematic sense, but it requires me to take a junk attack I don't want because of how Street Justice is set up with its combo metre.

Jun here is designed to be a no-holds-barred agile fighter who relies on her speed, her wits and her ability to punch really hard. She's smart, but not technically inclined, so no devices or weapons of any kind. No fancy powers like teleportation, magic or spirituality, no leadership capabilities as she's just 15. Those are most of the constraints that informed my build choices.

And, really, don't worry about me making the build at this point. I just want to understand what goes where and why it goes there.
Touch of Death ( all level 40 max ) 6 slotted in every ST attack.
Scirocco's Dervish in the PBAoEs. Six slotted for simplicity.

That will cap you to Melee and almost AoE without doing anything insane.

Edit: capping to range and AoE becomes less easy for keeping it simple.
  8. Well, let's do an exercise, Sam. What's your main? We won't use Mids or anything, and we will keep it exceedingly simple and cheap as possible.

Well, /I/ will keep it simple.

Edit: I will NOT tell you what sets to buy per say, but just general tips on a specific character. Every toon has its quirks.
  9. We are two posts away from posting the Rob Liefield link, aren't we?

I have an example of bad artistry and function:

Look at Catwoman. She has real, DD sized breasts. Let me teach you something about gymnastics and fatty tissue and Olympic level athletes. Their breasts get reduced, they become much straighter in the body. Her chest ALONE defies all belief because she is a "normal human." Now, if she just off-handily mentioned they were fake, I'd be okay with this.

Her hips are almost matronly, but offset by an impossibly narrow waist to support the acrobatics she does. Her thighs are rightly developed, but then her calves and ankles are not proportional and would snap pulling off the crap she does. Her biceps are correct, but, given the lack of detail in her forearm muscles, one gets the impression she has "soft" muscles there. Which is wrong. Furthermore, check out her shoulders. Very straight, not developed.

A normal human being would rip their arms OFF without the corresponding shoulder and ligament support.

What does this matter? Because she is a normal, athletically gifted **** sapien (sapien). We can let Power Girl, Starfire, et al get away with it because they are aliens and aren't subject to OUR WELL DEFINED BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS.

    /huff

Edit: there's a scene in Hush before the retcon where you see Selina Kyle in an evening dress and the picture is FLAWLESS. She's not exceedingly curvy, her chest is tight and athletic, her hamstrings and quads are well developed, as are her biceps and forearms. They even went to the trouble of drawing muscle lines above her bosom and made her shoulders much less narrow. The picture radiates confidence and is utterly believable.
  10. Don't worry, Garth got his Thor Hammer Phone with that order. It was shipped to the wrong house.

Go read 'Tec #1 & 2 and Catwoman #1 & 2. There are hyper violent scenes in there with tons of gore. Yet most instead of going "wtf are we showing our kids" when they see a guy bite a chunk of another guys neck out they only focus on the fact that Catwoman sexes it up with the Bat... And likewise they say nothing when in 'Tec #2 a guy strips his shirt off to climb an indoor mountain thing. Out of all the **** in those 4 comics, you know what concerns people the most? Batman and Catwoman making love... That to me screams a messed up culture.

You know what is really off about it?

    How to phrase...

Before the retcon, Bruce Wayne had pretty much said outright and admitted to himself that Selina Kyle was the love of his life. Taking his mask off in front of her was this amazingly important ordeal (unlike the new JL where Bruce is like "O HAI GREEN LANTERN IM BRUCE WAYNE WANNA HANG OUT SUMTIME?").

The current Catwoman takes place, emotionally, before this admission. But, we know that Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle are fated lovers and what not; hell, odds are Bruce Wayne will never love anyone after Selina (hello, Batman Beyond). So, people are whining about the portrayal of Catwoman and Batman sleeping together are prett much lambasting all romance stories. What's next, whining over Romeo and Juliet?

Jeez, meanwhile, Voodoo is hyper-sexual and cutting people's limbs off and everyone is like "BUT CATWOMAN WAS TEH NUDEZ"

    /end rant

Edit: look, you want to complain about Grace Choi? Maybe Cheshire (especially her!), fine, i can understand this (dont agree, but i can understand). But don't give me this crap. And Hal Jordan will wait til he's married to Carol before sleeping with her again, right? Tsch.

    /end more rant.
  12. I voted for the sleekest pieces. Sci-Fi is science fiction, not 1950's pulp.
  13. What... But....

Sue doesn't have invulnerability. Why the... Why.... WHY CAN I SEE HER INGUINAL LIGAMENTS?! What the hell are on her upper legs? Why is there a "4" on her breasts? She's a human who is married and has kids!

*head shake* I have no defense there.

Oh, sure, there probably are women who say that... but in what percentage to the general population of women?

Does it matter that my first example was Clark Kent?

Sexual identity is moot. An alien "super-human" (I know, I know) could identify as a cistranspansexual and that wouldn't change anything about the basic psychology of beings superior to others.

    Quite right.

Let's be honest, the only reason Clark Kent doesn't fly around naked is because he was raised by a conservative Kansas family.

Batman wears head-to-toe armor, and even applies a metallic substance to his lower face to protect him. Why? BECAUSE HE ISN'T BULLETPROOF.

It's only by the grace of Earth culture that Power Girl isn't naked as a jay bird while beating criminals to a pulp. If you were being honest, that's actually a mistake! Earth-based villains would be really confused when they look up and a nude Kryptonian lands on them.
  16. Would love to help and have extensive acting and mimicry experience, but, alas, my Internet connection is shot force next few months.
  17. Obviously, no one has respect for Renee Montoya. Her pants are very sexist.

Starfire's retcon is a travesty. Thankfully, Catwoman and Voodoo are much better balances of sexy and complee badass. Though, Catwoman is becoming too buxom for me to believe she is a post-Olympic level athlete that can pull off <insert insane dexterity technique>.
  18. 1960's nukes are no more of a threat to even conventional United States forces than they are to CoH Earth. Dismissing heroes who can fly, teleport, and shoot lases out of their toes, conventional detection systems would blast it out of the sky before it got even close.

Blitz has managed to hack our MediCom system (which, it seems, is quite frail when it comes to signal jacking) aaaaaand, boom! Those 1960's ICBMs can port in and kill a lot of people. The only reason Blitz doesn't do it is because:

    A) He knows Paragon is Recluse's goal. To destroy it would mean the full offensive capabilities of Arachnos are brought to bare.

    B) Even worse, the destruction of an area of Paragon would call down the entirety of the UN and world superhumans. That... would hurt.

Sure, nukes are effective, but they are just so 50 years ago...

Recluse wants to conquer and enlighten humanity. Extinguishing them with nuclear fire and fallout is not his best bet.

    Pure disintegration? Perhaps.

    Exactly.

As a Hero, I either hate my country or hate everyone outside my country. Look at Positron, as an example of this.

We live in a world of super powers, but everything is so damn normal. Why aren't the Steel Canyon Star Scrapers with things like Buddhist temples or an arbitrary rural house? Where are the buildings that have garden terraces and grass top roofs with trees growing out of them? Why is the military so woefully plan in it's technological capabilities compared to the guy who's been building a suit of powered armor in a cave with a box of scraps? Why aren't the tanks equipped with high-powered railguns, capable of hovering off the ground (with jumping abilities), and armed with anti-aircraft missiles and miniature versions of the GAU-8 Avenger Gatling gun? Why do we have these dumb rotor-based helicopters and not more jet engine VTOLs like the Sky Skiff or Longbow Chaser?

I suppose, as pointed out, it's to try to keep players from disconnecting too much with the reality the game is set in. If things were too super, it would seem less like a super powered earth with everyday magic and super-science and more like some alien world with poorly planned thematics.

Considering my toon has created miniature jet boots from pieces of crap.... errrr, salvage.... and is a heroic American citizen, why IS the military so woefully under equipped. I mean, Vanguard used REGULAR BULLETS on a giant, amorphous Shivan, when they have Hero-1 and captured Rikti tech? Hell, access to Impervium in quantities to make armor for all Vanguard soldiers dictates they could make bullets out of the hardest material to exist on planet Earth. Let's see Recluse shrug off one of them from a .50cal Barrett to the head.
