They can get even more detailed and create full enemy groups, giving each enemy unique costumes and powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This brings up a question I've had for a while now, and I really hope to get a "Yes" on this:

Certan enemies perform a trick or power when defeated. Carnies have a PBAoE End Drain power they use. Some Council and Nemesis robots explode. Some Clockwork summon Gears when defeated. And some Council change into (summon) Warwolves when defeated.

Will we be able to add these abilities to an enemy group we make?

Example: Take a fairly large sized map. Put in a few spawns of a custom group which we'll call "Zombies". Nothing complex there. Now, fill the map with a second custom group, which we'll call "Civilians". Civilians are non-hostile, much like the ones in Mayhem/Safeguard missions, and can not be attacked by the player (Invalid Target). But Zombies attack Civilians and can kill them.

Can I give the Civilians group the "On Death" ability to change into (summon) a member of the Zombie group, so that it appears that the Zombies are infecting the Civilians?

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I'm really hopeful we can use "turn into Warwolf" and "Drain Soul" style abilities on our custom mobs, I'd be pretty certain this scenario isn't going to happen. That'd be making a custom power itself, which I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, that's impossible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm hoping that the "Turn into Warwolf" power is really a "Turn into <insert MOB>" power. They're not the only ones that do something like that, just the most common. Some PPD Awakened do that too, turning into Novas after they've been killed.

The kind of changes I would likely want to make would cause a lot more alienation amongst the playerbase.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why I gather that they're not doing that.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Maybe. None of us have a bug under the developer's break room table understanding what their true motivations are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right. There are much better places for the bugs than under the break room table.

.... Sorry, just had an idea for a Stalker/Stealth mission where you have to sneak in and plant bugs in an office, and had to write it down.

Anyway, I very much doubt they'll be dropping the effort they put into this game any time soon. A new version/game engine would be more likely.
  4. I know that one of the sheilds doesn't show. That should narrow down your search.
  5. Objective: The Candy Cane costs for the various rewards are high enough that they've created a large amount of farming to get the rewards.

Subjective: The new ski run is great. The badges are hard to get, but the run itself is a blast.

Subjective: The BNY mission is getting kind of old. As the Mission Creator will be live well before the next winter event, how about holding a contest next fall to have players create some new missions/TFs for the winter event? Take the top three or five, and make them new official winter event missions.

Subjective: It would be nice if the ski lodge were kept around all year from now on. The zombie invasions from Halloween have stayed, let us keep this part of the winter event too. Remove Father Time, the Candy Keeper, and disable the medals on the ski runs, but leave the area itself. Not only are the ski slopes fun, but it's a nice RP spot for those of us that like to RP.

Begging: Please, please, pretty please... let us keep the ski lodge this time!

Best of luck, Lighthouse. We'll keep the lamp lighted up for you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But, it's the lamp that's leaving...
  7. Farewell, Lighthouse.

I'm sorry to see you go, but glad you survived long enough to do so. (Gods knows that can't have been easy.)

And yet... I find myself disappointed to see you leave. I hadn't realized it until now, but some small part of me was waiting for the day I'd come home from work to find that someone had pushed you too far, and you'd decended upon the forums like the wrath of an angry god, leaving a shocked and stunned silence in your wake.

... oh well. We'll get the next guy.

    B) I still don't get it.

Ditto. There's nothing here to tell us what's going on, why, or how. As far as I can tell, it's pointless babbling that's been spammed across the boards.

I'm tempted to use the Notify Moderator button on it.

At the risk of sounding ungrateful...

Is there really nothing that can be done about the spirit spawn rate before the end of the event? It will be a full year before we've got the chance to get the badge associated with them again, so being told that it won't be fixed in time to apply to this event is more than just a little disheartening for badge collectors.

Don't get me wrong, I love this event! I just love badges too, and having a "collect them all" mindset being confronted with not being realistically able to is disappointing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hi JChaos,

We completely agree that it would be great to fix the issue with the Spirits. A number of people here are upset as well about the badge for their own characters (yes, we play too!). However, getting such a fix out there would impact the schedule for Issue 13. We'd totally do that for an exploit fix, but for this issue we felt, that while painful for those interested in it, is something we'll have to leave as is.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any chance that this (Buster) will be one of the badges you can get with Merits in i13?

If you can't answer that, then at least pass it on as a suggestion/hint?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a better spot for that one. Two better spots, actually. One in Faultline, one in Grandville.

As for the advantage it gives? Hummm, maybe a bit if Inf when you die? And Accolade it with the graveyard day job to give you a temp power (max of 5 charges, maybe?) that teleports you to the middle of a random PVP zone (that you can enter, that is). If not a PVP zone, how about Monster Island? Accolade: Glutton for Punishment.

Also, can we get something like a Socalite day job for logging out in either Gemini Park or the grassy area outside of the Golden Ginza? (Many Virtue RPers know the areas I'm talking about.) I don't know what the advantage would be, but you could then accolade it with the Pocket D Day job. The accolade (Drama King/Drama Queen) could either give you a few charges of a power that gives a small amount of EXP per use (like you get for finding an Exploration Badge), or unlock a special emote.

    <QR>

Dev's --- PLEASE PLEASE while you are working this out, please do not forget to tag these auras for SG mode color settings. Often, the other special costume pieces available at level one including shoulder capes and angel and demon wings default to SG colors when in SG mode. Most of the time, until you unlock capes and have a costume with a cape, you cannot correct this and can get forced to play with a miscolored back piece. I'd hate to see the same happen for these special auras.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just so you know, if you visit the talor with an outfit that has bugged parts like that on the SG Color screen, the parts will show up when you go to the SG Color screen.

I've had to do this to fix shoulder capes and wings. It's not perfect, but it's a workaround until they fix this bug.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
So not only am I annoyed that they are giving something fun ingame ONLY to those able to go and those who just can't make it a convention (like me) are frozen out...I can't see the benefit they're getting from it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Fun.

They're giving away something fun, and getting to give it away face to face. I'm sure that's actually fun for (some of) them. And it's fun for (most of) the people that get it, too.

It's just part of the big party.
  14. Okay, I didn't read through all of this thread, I just want to say my part based on what I did see...

When they gave away the Freaktank power, I was a bit upset but I got over it. I decided it was a cool idea.

However... At the time I told someone "At least it's not the PPD Enforcer costume. THAT would upset me." That's the one that was loved by so many people that they came out with the "Enforcer" armor that somewhat recreates part of the style of that NPC costume.

Giving away the one that so many people wanted, and in such a way that most people can't get it? Ouch. I'll live with it, but I'm not going to pretend that I like it.

And while I'd like to think I'm more mature than this, I know that if I see someone running around in that costume outside of the Halloween event, it's going to make me alot more tempted to tell them where they can shove their plasma rifle.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry I don't have a direct answer to your question.

But I will say that the library sounds like a hell of a lot of work. I wish you luck on it, but please consider that i13 is going to have a serious base overhaul. (The devs are jokingly referring to the issue as "All Your Base Are Belong to Us.") There is very credible evidence that we will be getting a z-axis control for base items, making the magic desk obsolete and allowing for similar results to be obtained in a small fraction of the time.

Personally, I'm going to wait. It's not that far out at this point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe they've also said that they want to test the winter event on test soon, as they need to make sure it will work properly in i12. Because it may be running under i12, due to i13 not being live by then.

    Opinions needed.

    [ QUOTE ]
I don't like "read it on the forums", because that's pretty much the definition of Breaking Immersion. I don't mind the idea of there being a newspaper about supers by supers (I'm sure there would be in a real superhero world), but read it on the forums shatters the fourth wall.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed on all points.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Nice for those who want it, I guess, but it's mostly just going to be an annoyance for me. I don't like voice chat, I especially don't want to use it when playing characters for whom my voice wouldn't be appropriate, and I don't want to have to put up with endless pressure to turn voice chat on when I just plain don't want it. Hopefully most players will choose to be polite about it and respect other players' decisions to abstain, but it feels like this could just turn into one more excuse for some people to be jerks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What this person said.

I do not want. I will not use. I will avoid it if at all possible. If it is forced on me, it will likely be the end of my time with CoX.

I have my reasons for not liking to talk to people. I was going to spell some of them out here, but it doesn't really matter why I feel this way. I just do. So please, don't let this be forced on us.
  18. I like some of the ones mentioned, but I'll throw a few more ideas out.

    - Inner chamber of the Storm Palace. (that's what the big ball is called, right?)

    - Arachnos reactor room. (That BIG room with lots of empty space in it for flying and such.)

    - Ouroboros.

    - The insides of one of the Arena buildings. (Four colored sections and all, perfect for a four team match.)

    - Tyrant's throne room.

    - Cavern of Trancendence.

And if maps ever become selectable, how about "My Base", to put them in a copy of that person's SG base? (All items passive and unbreakable, naturally.)
  19. Very nice post, BAB. But, I hope nobody minds if I mention a few other problems that would have to be sorted out?

First, there are a couple of power sets that have a power that doesn't match the color of the rest of the set. /Thermal for corruptors is one, as is the fire defensive set. Both of these have a shield power that is more blueish-white than the normal color of the flames, to make it stand out. If PC went in, these powers would either have to start to match the colors of the set or they would require a second choice for colors.

The second problem comes when you start to stack powers. Let's look at Force Field for an example: You're on a team with three FF users. One has red bubbles, one has yellow, and one's still at classic blue. Now, how do you handle it when they start to put shields on their allies? Will a red shield and a yellow shield make an orange shield? What if Yellow has both personal shields, but Red only has one? Yellow-Orange shields? And then blue starts adding shields in, and... yuck. There's also the eyesore you'd get when they all fire up their big AoE shields and start moving around each other. It might look neat from a distance, but I'm sure anyone caught in such a mess would quickly discover it to be as headache inducing as the old Sonic effects.

Finally, there are powers that create other power effects. MM Robots cast their own Force Fields. The /Traps FF Generator does the same. MM Robots shoot red lasers, and MM Zombies hurl green "stuff". /Devices Trip Mines and Time Bombs create explosions of orange flame. And Trick Arrow is full of secondary effects after the arrow hits, including (Castle's favorate power) Oil Slick. And who's power customization would determine what color Oil Slick burns, anyway? When you have a team up of The Purple Archer and The Green Flame, having it burn orange just doesn't seem like an option...

I realize this is kind of off the subject, but I fund my account with a Visa gift card. I buy them at the local mall. I highly recommend it. I pay a couple of dollar fee for buying them, but if you load it enough for multiple months it works out great. They're also very secure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ohh, I might have to look into that.
  21. I liked using the time cards, but they became very very hard to find around where I live. Finally, I had to give up and go to paying with my credit card. Not that big a deal, I know.

But I also have a friend that doesn't have a credit card that he can use. He finds the time cards as he can, but sometimes he has to let his account lapse due to lack of time cards. This is a bad thing.

Why is it Wal Mart got an EXCLUSIVE on the GvE pack for a long time, and yet only carried/carries WoW time cards? It makes me feel like CoX players got a bit... shafted. Add that to every other place carrying WoW time cards but not NC Soft time cards, and it just leaves a bad feeling.

What was worse, was when the person at the counter at EB Games told my friend that he could just go to EB Games's ONLINE store and buy the time cards there. Really wanted to remove that one from the gene pool before he breeds....
  22. Hey Lighthouse (or any other red name types), any chance of someone talking the Devs into running this a bit longer than planned?

We have two new power sets coming out soon, and I'm sure we'll have more in the year to come. That's alot of new characters being made, with some being scrapped and replaced a few times. That's a HUGE demand for the costume salvage to get the extra costume on alot of characters. And that's not even considering the usefulness of extra costumes on characters with weapons once Weapon Customization goes in.

However, the salvage isn't dropping all that fast. Plus, some of us will be limited on the time we can spend hunting for it.

Thinking ahead to the coming year, it would be great if we had a longer time to get the salvage parts, or if the drop rate could be upped a bit more.

    Thanks for listening!

Do you want us to quote what the /tell was? Say what site they were advertising for? Or just say "it was a spam to sell inf/PLing for real cash"? Is it a conduct issue, or is it cheating?
