Quote:I love how everyone proclaiming something negative and cynical claims to be wearing garments spun of the finest Truth.
When the truth is that they're just oblivious to the irony of their own statements.
I said a little truth. So, the garments are not a full outfit. Maybe a hat, or socks, at most.
It's just annoying to have an announcement made that says to check the forums for details, and then to find nothing on the forums. At the time, I didn't even know it was just Virtue going down.
It would be nice if they posted the information on the forums before saying that there's information on the forums. Or at least change their default message to "Information will be posted on the CoH/CoV forums shortly".
But... on the upside, the downtime gave me time to do a load of laundry. I had to wash my Underwear of Justice for work tomorrow, all I had clean was my Boxers of Righteous Fury. -
Attention! In 30 minutes, the City of Heroes and City of Villains servers will go down for maintenance reasons. Further information can not now or ever be found in the City of Heroes forums until well after the fact.
Just a little truth to brighten up everyone's day. -
I suspect it's going to be more like Healing Incarnate or Damage Incarnate, rather than specific higher powers.
-
Better yet, never let yourself be caught in a situation where you feel the need to tell the pilot or captain of whatever you're on just how slim the odds of survival are.

I'll be busy at work at the time, and I wouldn't touch Facebook with a ten foot ... object.
So, could someone ask Black Pebble to tell us what specific subjects the Devs are NOT allowed to talk about? -
I have two accounts and two CoX-capable computers. So, I made a "Pistol Puppy" on each Test server, using the two accounts.
I can find no way to invite myself cross-server.
So, I have no idea what they're testing. -
Quote:Imagine every spawn spot filled with a battle. Enemy side is anything that gives good EXP. Ally side is all custom critters, each with only two powers. The AoE hold from Illusion, and Disruption Arrow from Trick Arrow.I suppose it could be a preemptive move. After multiple buffbot allies were taken away, those mission creators might turn to custom friendly patrols and/or battles? (That seems to clunky to me for a good farming exploit, but I don't know)
Hrm
You've got the allies locking down the targets, and making them easier to kill, all whithout doing any damage. Instant no-risk farm, just add player.
I thought of this a while ago (and no, I never used it). I'm glad to know the Devs saw it coming.
I still don't like this fix, but I can't think of a better one so I'll just live with it. -
Quote:Wait... even ONE ally causes a nerf? The patch notes say it's when you go past one that you get the nerf. This is friggin' obnoxious.
Quick test with a level 40 arc.
Minion inf in mission with no allies: 2362
Minion inf in mission with 1 ally who I have not even rescued yet: 824
WTF! How is that even REMOTELY reasonable?
Hey Devs, is this a bug? -

Quote:It's a new one to me. Out of curisoty, where can I find the origional? It's a spoof of a famous manifesto, for the enjoyment of us nerds.
Quote:Devs, stop wasting time and resources on AE. Why are we rewarding people for running player created content when we should be rewarding the creators of said content? -
Quote:That's really lovely and well written, but more than a bit one sided. The Farmers Manifesto
Another one got caught today, it's all over the forums. "Teenagers Account Banned Today in Farming Exploit Scandal", "Farmer banned after exploit Tampering"...
Damn Farmer. They're all alike.
But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950's technobrain, ever take a look behind the eyes of the Farmer? Did you ever wonder what made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?
I am a Framer, enter my world...
Mine is a world that begins with school... I'm smarter than most of the other kids, this crap they teach us bores me...
Damn underachiever. They're all alike.
I'm in junior high or high school. I've listened to teachers explain for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. "No, Ms. Smith, I didn't show my work. I did it in my head..."
Damn kid. Probably copied it. They're all alike.
I made a discovery today. I found a bug. Wait a second, this is cool...
Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike.
You bet your *** we're all alike... we've been spoon-fed baby food on MMOs when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.
This is our world now... the world of the bugs and the glitches, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing that could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.
Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.
I am a farmer, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can't stop us all... after all, we're all alike.
d;D
An exploit using/abusing farmer is someone who may explore and search for a rare and precous thing, like a person walking along a hard to access stretch of sea shore. And they may find the occasional sea shell of rare beauty.
But their first thought isn't to put it on display for all to see, or to leave it where it is for others to joyfully discover as they have. No. They smash it with a rock, string the bits onto a necklace, and sell it for a quick profit.
I'll find my heroes elsewhere, thanks. And I'm glad this change has gone in. It's annoying to me, but I think it was needed to keep things fair. The sea shell's gone, time to wander on. -
A lot of great names have been mentioned, but I dare you to invite Jack Emmert back to write a story arc.
Actually, I'm serious. I know he wouldn't, but... I'm sure there's some untold story involving Statesman he'd love to do.
I'd also like to see some of the CoH Devs try their hand at it, and see what they can do with the AE system as we have it. Let's see how well the storycrafting skills of the likes of Dr Aeon and Sunstorm compare to the players when the field is totally even. -

Thanks to his Super Color-Blindness power, Captain Drab had no idea that the Rikti were invading. -

Quote:Are there any lower body sets that do not have this node? (ie: Kilts/shorts on males)They've also been put on their own costume node and will now show up under "Lower Body". Which will mean you can do a Belt and a Tail (animated or static) on the same character. Unfortunately, that means the tails under the belt category are being flagged as legacy. So if you want to keep your current, non-animated tail, you'll still need to go in and select that costume part from the lower body the next time you edit your costume at the tailor.

I'm telling you Wedge, every time I delete "Still Alive" from the playlists, the computer puts it back in!

Well, there was the time an evil spirit showed up. It had the ability to skin people alive, then wear the skins to become that person. Mind you, it was my character whos skin it was wearing...
And then there was the sub-storyline where one of my characters was killed, chopped up, put into baggies, and mailed to an unstable empath. It was one of my villains that did it.
Then there was the time my poor half-demon character was bound by an enemy, and forced to to horrid things. Every time the heroes killed him, he was drug back to life against his will through the binding. Also, he lost his eyes as punishment for failure during all that.
Come to think of it, this is probably why someone once told me "I'd hate to be one of your characters". I can't seem to start a good storyline without putting some serious bloodshed of my own characters on the table to kick things off. -
Little Mousie: He's out to save everyone he can, even the people he's fighting. He honestly feels that, if he stops them, they might finally change their ways. He knows it's unlikely, but it's more likely than if nobody does anything.
He still performs "mercy killings" in very rare cases, but it has to be truely the best thing for the person. He has also been known to "kill" CoT, using an enchanted sword to derail the escaping soul into a soul crystal. Those, he hands over to other autorities for imprisonment.
Rocket Wolf: He's technically a villain, but he's actually a fallen hero. He caught some drug dealers he'd arrested before having a shootout in a school playground. (It was Saturday, thankfully.) Turned out that they were fighting over whos territory the playground was for drug sales. He snapped, and saw a large wood chipper nearby... He had fed six of 'em in by the time the Vindicators showed up and Ms Liberty nearly shattered his jaw with a right hook.
He's working in the Isles now, but still considers himself a hero. He escaped during transport to the Zig when a woman in a black leather bodysuit attacked the police van and freed him so he could clean up the Isles. He's not certan he knows who she was, but she had one hell of a right hook...
Obsidian Dire: He considers the Devouring Earth a major threat, and destroys them every chance he gets. This isn't done out of anger, he's simply being practical.
Catnip Mouse: He hates the Council. He flat out wants them dead. That having been said, for the sake of a missing friend/foe, he goes out of his way to make sure that any he fights survive. He'll arrest them, but he no longer kills them. -
I'd suggest http://freefall.purrsia.com/default.htm or http://www.the-whiteboard.com/index.html as a fun read.

To Please a Ghost
Arc #: 299270
Villian/humor arc. No special bosses to deal with, good for all levels.
(Longbow, 5th Column, Circle of Thorns)
Nevermore
Arc #:352030
Hero arc, and the one I'd made for the last AE contest. Sadly, I was one of the ones that gave a choice at the end.
It's 4 missions long, but the last mission is a simple yes/no choice with a 5 minute timer. Lots of stuff to read in this one, including the keepsake. -
After the mutant booster, I expect to see a Weapons Booster pack.

Quote:And that's why I REALLY wish they'd leave the ski lodge open. It's a seperate place with a different feel, but it's still Pocket D as well.
This has been brought up many, many times, even by me. Conclusion? In theory it sounds like a great idea. In practice, it would not work.
It's just natural selection would eventually drive everyone back to Pocket D. That's what's good about Pocket D. You go in, and you can instantly find RP, good or bad. If there was any other spot people decided to gather, they'd go there, sit around, find lack of RP, and then give up and go do other things, or go back to Pocket D.
As much as I want it to, it just won't work.
