Quote:Well, it depends;I wish this was small enough to become my new sig. This is the full honest truth and the funny thing is that some people will condemn you for this honesty.
Quote:Oh no. I think they WILL feel this. The effects will be subtle at first. But if we as an entire community decide that all bets are off and that our game is TRULY dead, and we decide as a community to go full - bore negative press assault mode?
If CoH closes down for good, with no hope of revival, I intend to go full martyr on this. Whenever I hear someone mention a NCsoft game, I will point to CoH's death like the head of John the friggn Baptist and tell them what NCsoft does to still-running games. I will point them to the petitions, to the rallies, to I24 patch notes, to everything that showed just how vibrant the game had been, and tell them that this, this is what they should expect. That no matter what they want, no matter what they expect, no matter what makes sense to keep or kill, that one day, sooner rather than later, they will find themselves without the game they invested themselves in. With no fanfare, no explanation, no apologies, no bang, but only the whimper of "refocusing of direction". And I am far, far from the only one who will shout my warning to the other players, because between the interests of a company who takes away with far greater ease than it gives, and those of my fellow gamers, there is really no question where my focus lies. -
Silly idea that I can't follow through because I can't art worth... anything.
Can someone make a parody of the Lex Luthor fourty cakes picture with the text "When NCsoft wasn't looking, City of Heroes players filled thirty-three Atlas Parks. That's as many as three elevens. And that's awesome." -
Quote:A tense correction - the game had been having a good run. It would have continued it if it wasn't headshotted.seriously what is with some people taking this so seriously.
The game was old and had a good run. Some people need a reality check that protesting like angry citizens will not accomplish anything. MMOs getting shut down now a days is just the nature of the beast and to be honest hearing about this game getting closed was not surprising in the least. -
...but then I realized that spamming up the Help or broadcast channels would have been a pretty pancake move.
So with that in mind...

Remember to tip your servers, guys.
Just don't tip them over. We need those to play. -

That said... whether I ever support NCsoft again, or whether I will share my opinions about their practices to anyone who will listens depends entirely on whether the CoH situation is resolved to my satisfaction. It's a feeble threat, I know, but I suspect it's echoed by others as well. -

What the heck is the deal with Serene being the Black Queen? How did the logistics of that work, on account of her being dead. Also, is she the one Reese is talking about the second time you put him down?

Quick note, there's now an actual character extractor out {hooray!} if you want to pull out raw costume data without fiddling with demorecord.
Second, you want demos? Here are mine.

Not that I know of - that said, according to Golden Girl's post in another thread -
" [Admin] Alpha Wolf: Sorry guys but I don't have any new update. I know Paragon management is having discussion with ncsoft and investors. Continue get people to sign online petitions, post on game forums, and just continue to make noises so ncsoft cannot ignore players."
- there's still hope. -
It would be better to sticky the general coordination thread instead, but I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea.
-
Heh, nice one.
My little claim to infamy was right after the "abandon mission" button was implemented. I quickly realized that, as there were a couple of multi-part missions that started with you talking to an NPC, which in turn gave you a small influence/prestige/XP reward. So you could park yourself next to the NPC, talk to them, abandon, call your contact again to get the mission again, talk to them, and repeat on and on.
So I filed a bug report and that got shut down in the next patch. -
I shot an email to Jo of Nerf Now earlier today. Every little bit helps.
-
Slightly tangential, do we know if/when is the Q/A planned?
-
I've seen the thread, yeah. Well, the more possibilities, the better, I guess. I mean, Gaben is basically Willy Wonka of the gaming industry, but failing that, well... I'm not picky. SOE, Blizzard, just about anything sounds promising.
-
Blizzard... could also be an option, frankly. Their own success with WoW might help CoH, and they wouldn't be in direct competition since they have diametrically opposed playstyles.
-
It would depend on how much resources they'd be willing to commit. Just buying the IP would be a huge investment.
-
Oh, god, I just realized... Gabe might not read all this until Monday, since it's weekend and all, and sees his inbox loaded with CoH emails.
The poor guy. -
Quote:I don't really approve of the last line. The focus here is saving City of Heroes, not payback and it ends up giving the whole poster the stink of Anonymous.Okay, I just re-sent my email. Jesus, that email form is finicky. Firefox and Opera didn't do it, I finally had to use IE.
Anyway, here's something I wanted to say: Since I'm not VIP(I was going to subscribe this month, but...well, yeah), I can't post on the Announcement forum. So if any of you would be kind enough to take this pic I made and spread it around, I would be grateful. It's a little maudlin, I know, but hey, whatever it takes, right?
