I remember doing the cape mission on my gravity controller and getting attacked by about 20 Rikti. After I changed my underwear and died a second time, I got a friend to help. It was some of the most fun I've had in CoH. It was pretty difficult. I don't mind dying at all, as long as I"m having fun.

I just wanted to say that as a post-level 32 fire controller I absolutely love the change to mob hit points. However, had I been a pre-32 fire controller I'd probably be gnashing my teeth something awful.
Please don't change the hit points (because I think it makes the game more fun), but do consider upping dmg for low dmg characters. -
Another challenge to the advanced macroers...
Is it possible to completely bind a "drop" type of ability to a key? That's the sort of ability where you get a target circle and usually have to place it with your mouse, like summoning a pet. -
I've been working on this for a few days and I think I finally got it as good as it is going to get, unless they change the macroing system.
I wanted to be able to buff my pets with my Fire/Kinetics controller. So here's the macro, it's tied to the tilde key. You hit the tilde key, it targets the next ally you can see then fires off speed boost. Its a little different than some of the ones people use for group mates, because the allies might not be in your group, or they might be pets! I tested it tonight. It works fairly well, although one thing that will be weird is it actually buffs the ally you had targetted in the last cycle. But just ignore that weirdness because it works.
First step was to create a directory off the C drive called "bind".
mkdir C:\bind
Then you use your favorite editor and edit a file called spdboost1.txt, in that directory, and enter this text:
tilde "+down$$-down$$target_friend_next$$bind_load_file C:/bind/spdboost2.txt"
Save it and edit c:\bind\spdboost2.txt and enter this:
tilde "+down$$-down$$powexec_name speed boost$$bind_load_file C:/bind/spdboost1.txt"
Save that file and go into the game.
In game type:
/bind_load_file C:/bind/spdboost1.txt
Then, when you're playing you can target each ally in turn (that is in view, sometimes its useful to go out to max view because pets tend to be behind you) and buff them with speed boost.
Let me know if you improve on this. -
Ok, here's a puzzler for the Bind Gods.
I'm trying to make a "pet buffing" bind. I basically want to do a "target_friend_next" followed by speed boost, or some other single target buff.
I've tried:
bind tilde "+down$$-down$$target_friend_next$$powexec_name speed boost"
But what happens is that it ends up targetting too many times, so I might skip a pet. I think its because key down registers more than once a lot of times.
Ok, experiment #2 was:
bind tilde "powexec_name speed boost$$target_friend_next"
This gives really weird results. Sometimes it works great! Other times, it just changes target, and still other times it seems to do nothing.
Any ideas?
It just occurs to me, maybe I should make this a two-tap key. Once to target, once to buff. I could use the alternating files scheme.

1. Is there a /copychat bind that works without specific tab names included?
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you wanting to capture everythign? If so, I'd do it by making a "tab" that captures everything and just bind the copychat so that it uses that tab name.
Later that same evening...
Was paging back through the thread and found this:

Yep, it is possible. Here is a set that will activate build-up on key-press and power thrust on release.
hchange1.txt
lshift+u "+up$$-up$$powexec_name build up$$bind_load_file c:/bind/blue_volt/hchange2.txt"
hchange2.txt
lshift+u "+up$$-up$$powexec_name power thrust$$bind_load_file c:/bind/blue_volt/hchange1.txt"
Of course, you will probably need to change the buind-load path. This is straight out of my files. The trick is in the +up$$-up at the beginning. The +u gives the functionality to execute on press and release, and the -up prevents it from actually making you move.
Now, you can change the file names, paths and powers called to what ever you want.
Good Luck.

I think that's my answer.
Thanks you. -

*Nods* And then of course there is how much is too much.

When you zone into the mission instance, the leader should be able to select the difficult, via the pair of sliders. I'd think up to +4 levels of the mission holder. Did you set the mission too difficult? Zone in again and rechoose. It'd reset the entire mission and repopulate it.

And what about timed missions or story arcs? Should you be able to change each mission in the story arc individually?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes.
[ QUOTE ]
Or should you only be able to change it at the very first mission?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. If you're doing an archvillian mission, you might hang yourself if you picked a level that was fine for the rest of the missions.
[ QUOTE ]
And what about timed missions? Should it increase the timer? Add extra objectives?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. If you want more difficult then increasing the mob levels and/or density just makes timed missions more difficult too. That's a good thing.
[ QUOTE ]
Its not something that should be taken lightly. And thankfully, Statesman is not stupid and realizes that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course not! But this is something I think should be one of the highest priorities. Higher than jamming a lot of new content into a new issue. Because the current content isn't much fun when it doesn't present any sort challenge.
I'd have happily waited on Issue 2 if it meant getting the difficulty slider in sooner. I'll may never use RSK, may never visit The Hollows, capes are pretty, auras are nice, but truly they do nothing to make the game play fun. The sooner I have the option to make my missions more difficult, the sooner I'll be having more fun, all the time, in the game. -
I really think the mission difficulty slider needs to go in ASAP. These silly easy missions are boring.
[ QUOTE ]
Should it increase the mob level? Should it spawn MORE villians?
[/ QUOTE ]
YES!
I'd like to see both those, but perhaps a little control over it. Maybe two sliders, one for mob level and one for mob density.
And then perhaps a button that says.... "Scare me!" -
The Gravity Queen, former leader of a small, solar system in the fashionable section of the Galaxy, has volunteered her Radioactive Emissions abilities to treat the affected inmates.
The Gamma Ray beam might be quite effective in excising any malignant tumours. Unfortunately, it often excises city blocks as well. So some tuning of the ability might be needed. Any test subject volunteers will be paid generously. Or their heirs.
