  1. All axes use the smashing motion to drive a wedge into whatever you're cutting. Trust me I studied Forestry (HNC Aboriculture). And for the reason axe edges aren't actually terribly sharp, or if they are the lose the edge very quickly.

Ah but if you ever get in there you'd find several Police Drones...
  3. Why?

So long thanks for all the fish is all that needs to be said.

Though TBH in a way I wish they'd go back to the old method of dealing with goodbye threads which was simply to lock/delete them.
  4. Try:

    /windowscale missionreview 1

    Valid Values I think are 0.62 - 2.0

2 ends up like you have it now, 1 is default (and IMO too big) I have it at 0.75 and that seems to work okay.

If not that try replacing the missionreview with missionsummary (not sure which you're looking at in that screen shot.

    Mandatory Arc

Whichever, just reduce the rewards from paper missions themselves, maybe make the reward from the safeguard/mayhem a bit better to compensate. But I get tired of getting a team only to do Paper missions, why people think they're fun or better than farming MA I will never understand.

I want to know that if I do a player created arc I am going to earn the same XP as if I did a story arc. And rather than nerfing the MA I'd prefer they upped the rewards of normal arcs.

    New Auras:

I'd also like to see weapon auras, for claws (especially) but also BS, DB, Kat/NB and the various Bows and Guns.

I'd like invasion code for the Paladin contruction and the Supatroll rave, with the Paladin and its followers having a much larger area where they rampage, and the supatrolls spreading out throughout Skyway - and both events would use Safeguard style destructable scenery, so it'd look more like a rampage.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Invasion code for events I'm cool with. And I'd add ship ghosts and the miners/scrapyarders that follow the ghost of scrappyard around.

No, you NEED new graphics to sell a game as computers nowadays are getting more powerful. Even the cheap ones can outperform the ones of 2 years ago by miles.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    right.....
starcraft is a very old game from 98, but the gameplay is still today overthrowing every attempt on making something simulair.
but like you would already know, the game is entirely 2d with pixel characters.
no special 3d effects, no bumping effects and even a pentium 200 can play it.

you're just diluting your self, or maybe just to young to see how it was back in the day's.

The last decent RPG (IMO) or maybe the last one I enjoyed enough to replay and replay over a period of years (17 or so years) is Ultima VII, which when I first bought it I could barely run on my 486sx-25.

Hell the fact that people actually use things like DOS-Box or Exult (or even MAME) is not because everyone runs obsolete systems or because many of the really old games are abandoned but because many of the old games are still superior to modern games in everything but graphics and sound.
  10. Actually I think that while we define griefing as this... and I'm with you on that. What the guy was actually doing was playing the game as it can be played. Doing some form of PvP in a PvP zone. He became nearly universally reviled because he wasn't following player convention on what is griefing. Not because he was griefing (based on what the devs say is griefing).

If you look at his report as a report on PvP or misbehaving in an MMO, you can rightly say his methods and conclusion is bunkum. But if you examine what he is saying about how people interact when you remove societal rules, I think he does make a point. He in effect behaves like a sociopath (in the sense of someone behaving as they feel is right without moral or social values, to the detriment of public and social values). If he had done the same study IRL he'd have ended up doing jail time, or in the US on death row.

And if he'd done it to me I'd have called him names and probably stopped PvPing when he was on. Or more likely based on the large amount of US severs, switch to a different server.

However I don't think three servers or one game is enough to base his conclusions on. Targeting the PvP population even in the US os only a tiny subset of the community rather than the majority. And with the way the game is built he can't even check to find out how many unique accounts/players he is actually facing. Doing the same in several other MMOs would have made his conclusions far more worthwhile. As it is its a case of:

Act like a [censored], be treated like a [censored].
  11. Using invasion code to auto level the mob is not that good TBH, unless you make sure they only ever con blue/white. Especially at low levels there are some very under powered power combinations. I know sub twenty invasion mobs kill my controllers with some ease.

    Dr Kahn TF

    I don't dislike it...

With no cut scenes (hero side), and if you aren't the leader no text it is very difficult to actually work out what the story is about, why you're doing what you're doing.

And the intermediate missions are exceedingly boring. Mission one is fun and interesting with new maps. The last mission providing you know what is going to happen is fun and I like the map. But the others... pah, boring and rather pointless. STF and ITF are both more interesting and more fun. And because of the cut scenes I know what is going on even if when I'm not leading it.

    Lag Hill aside of course.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Given all that, I invite him to undertake another experiment. Drive your car with no regard for your fellow man. Cut people up, let nobody through, and blare your horn when anyone gets in your way. Tailgate people. While these activities do not necessarily breach the law, they will still incite road rage. (I hasten to add at this point that griefing is NOT a legal activity in City of Heroes, as has been stated elsewhere.) You WILL receive baseless threats. People will wind their windows down and throw obscenities at you. But to truly replicate what this man has done, you will need to harass the same group of drivers in the same place, daily, for weeks. Drive a distinctive car, such as a bright red pickup truck. Make sure people know that you are going out of your way to incite anger.

Can we conclude, therefore, that all people who drive are immature? Beyond that, can we publish a paper on the subject? I don't usually resort to hyperbole when arguing seriously, but...

    No. Because that is stupid.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think you missed the point TBH. If he drove badly outside of the law he'd get banned from the road. Or killed in an accident or something. A better way of putting it would be to drive to the law in somewhere like Paris or Rome (or many parts of Africa) where the laws are less observed/followed, his 'safe' driving would incense the other drivers. As an old person doing forty on a country road does in this country.

As for the griefing side of it, the only definition of griefing from the devs I have seen is when a game mechanic is used to grief a single person or group to their detriment. I don't think you can say that all the enemy PvPers in a zone is a single group. It is a player convention that TPing into drones or mobs is griefing and not a rule used by the devs. TBH the fact that he didn't get banned by GM_s rather implies that he wasn't griefing... just very annoying.
  14. Besides GG is right....

    **Homer Simpson Style** Mmmm SPANDEX...

  15. I think people have three issues:

1)The devs have been promising great things for well over a year now, and for the most part its been rumour and supposition, people like some hard facts.

2)A lot of people were disappointed with MA which was listed as a 'big' issue, now we're told that the next few issues are going to be 'big' and having looked at the last few 'big' issues we're being a little wary.

3)While Powers Customisation has been asked for since day one by an awful lot of people it isn't actually going to change anything other than the actual colour/animation (I hope) of powers. It isn't content. While it may be a huge amount of work to produce what most people, including myself, seem to want is actual things to do.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Reading the word document closer, I definely can't see what made him think he was "playing by the designers' rules" as the article says.

    [ QUOTE ]
The first set of Twixt’s breaching behaviors involved pvp tactics within RV: “droning” and, closely related, “teleporting into non-player characters (npc’s).”

    [/ QUOTE ]

The second bit is definetly not allowed as far as I know, since it can cause debt. That's suspension-worthy actions just there. Or at least I think a red name has said so in the past.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The only time I have specifically seen it mentioned by a red name is when used for specifically griefing a single player. As in following one player around and only doing it to them. And from recollection that goes for both.

One of the things he says early on in the interview is that he was doing this to people who weren't actually PvPing:
    [ QUOTE ]
...quickly learned that players ignored the area's stated purpose. Heroes chatted peacefully with villains in the combat zone....

    [/ QUOTE ]
If as a PvPer you went into RV and saw someone farming pill boxes, would you ignore them knowing that they aren't actually there for the PvP? Or if they were grinding mobs for a kill badge?

I know this has come up before and at the time the answer was pretty much if you go into a PvP zone you may be PvPed. I know this is a bit different because it's perceived griefing.

And one of those inflatable ones that squeak when you hit people.
  18. A web based chat interface for the game would be very useful, and I for one would use it. But if you open it up for non members you'd just end up with a horrendous amount of spam.

    Mandatory Arc

I'm with Donna_ on this: (bold by me)

    [ QUOTE ]
This would ensure that players have to experience some of the game outside of MA.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the wording is such that it appears to be aimed at anyone who doesn't play the game the way you see fit.

Though restricting to veterans wouldn't work, I have played with a 30+ month vet recently who didn't have unyielding on his level 50 tank.

One thing that would ensure that people knew about other content is if the popups that you get for new contacts were expanded to show cape/aura/costume slot missions.

Also reduce rewards from paper missions, increase average rewards from normal arc missions, so that normal arcs would be about as rewarding as MA. And fix some of the insanely long/boring normal arcs. eg Melanie Peebles (Striga) has five kill alls (IIRC) each is a big map with occasionally scattered mobs and because the actual order (for all apart from the last two of the arc) are offered at random on a team you often cannot even auto complete.

    ...Git :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely pure 100% unadulterated git, thank you.

And it sounds like fun actually! Start in Atlas.. You see the level 50 you have to find.. He heads off to Bricks to get hidden, and everyone else (max level 10?) starts 2 mins later. You have to make it TO Brickstown before you can begin the hunt!

Oh, and no use of trains or base teleports!

Something similar for villains, of course.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Considering I have run at level 1 from AP to PI (Portal Corp building) its more than doable to get there... finding him in Bricks though could well be impossible, as there are areas a level one couldn't reach.
  21. Coat of paint yes, whole new engine no...

At least I hope so, two of the three machines I run will not cope with the crysis engine and as most of my fun in the game ATM is from triple boxing a move that far away from the current engine remove me from the game.

  23. Hmm, not seen a name for that window. Try setting the global to 60% (lowest anyway) and applying then moving it back up to what it is now and applying.

If that doesn't fix it, I have no idea sorry.
  24. And those horrible run across three zones to speak to someone who you have spoken to. Or have no wish to speak to ever. (Difficulty girl in KR and the various PvP contacts. (PvP ones should be unlocked per account so once any character has spoken to them you don't get sent again.)
  25. Just change your global window scale (under graphics and audio in options), that should do it.
