ah so you are going for Total focus? That combined with power burst and maybe something like air super would give you a semi-decent attack chain for some close range damage

I would like to see it completed (if I could just remember when it's on) mainly because I think all those left in fought really well to get to this stage. But it really doesn't look like it will happen, which is a shame because when the momentum was there this was a fun little tournament.

I have a kinetic/energy blast defender... I have the following attacks from my secondary:

Power Bolt
Power Blast
Energy Torrent (took this at 49 to help with some kill badges)
Power Push
Nova

Then I also have

Air Superiority
and Thunder Strike (from the electric epic)

I tried out a fair few of the other energy powers on my way to 50 and to be honest I never really found them that useful and for the most part I use the energy attacks I do have to position mobs to better heal/give endurance to the team. Air Super and Thunder Strike are probably the two attacks I use most to defeat things as on my last respec I was aiming to have a semi-blapper build...

I suppose since you are in the thick of things a lot something like Power Burst might suit you (as it's a short range attack). Energy Torrent is probably useless-ish as of the knockback factor, and it scatters mobs a bit too much (and you may find explosive blast is similar)

well, no. But standing off to one side makes it even more dull imo. Hovering above the battle ground just adds a little to the excitement.

Extremus explained about hover etc, but tahts used in pvp etc ALOT, pve you dont need to bother with it as you 'should' be capable to stay out of harms reach... if not your prolly blind

But hover is useful in PvE for blind and sighted empaths alike.

Several people have already commented that they like using it and how useful they find it in PvE. I use it for all the reasons above - plus I like hovering my empath above the fight, I don't like being stood off to one side tucked neatly out of the dangerzone. It's just not very exciting.

Well... we started Positron but stupid thing was bugged (bah) and we couldn't be bothered waiting for the petition to go through so we went and did some missions (well we did one mission and killed The Paladin twice).

We're now at lvl 14... positron next week, perhaps after some trick or treating!

Agree with bob, and I am more than willing to help you catch up to wherever we finish off this week/next week.

I checked the boomtown thingy last night and according to vidiotmaps it's only lvl 11 to enter.

I'll check what toons I have at low lvls regarding the spelunker thing but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to help :/

I don't see why it's the most expendable to make a balanced Empath really. Personally I would keep it in and drop something like aim.

Particularly if MaX says he is allowing for some offence... an empath only has 3 powers they can use on themself and if they are really going to attempt to hit stuff then those three things are pretty useful...

Regen Aura on my empath is the difference between soloing at a snails pace and soloing at a reasonable speed. I know which I prefer when I have, or want, to solo!

Why no regen aura? Is a nice power... wouldn't want to make an empath without it, particularly with Absorb Pain in the mix... it's the only thing that really protects the empath.

If you're running Steamy Mist and snow Storm in any long fight you will end up gasping for breath with only one end redux on each. I would try and get 2 in each of those powers. Snow Storm ideally would be good with 2 x End Redux and 2 x Slow. On my storm/electric I have Steamy mist with 2 x End Redux and 3 x Dam Resist

Tesla Cage is so so useful I'd take it as soon as it's available, it's far more useful than Zapp (which I personally wouldn't take... just never really like snipes on defenders tbh..). As Carnifax says, Ball lighting + Freezing Rain is such a good combination it would be quite cool to have that combination in your build..

With Lightning Storm, I'd definitly not bother with the accuracy. Try 3 x Damage, 2 x Recharcge and 1 x End Redux (it costs a lot of endurance to cast so the end redux will be handy in there)
