ummm say what?
Is this another badge related to the gifts? Will it give only if you got toy collector or if you also killed a large number of all types of snowman?
I got toy collector but didn't really fight many snowmen... -

Yeah but oddly enough they don't mind being able to go from 15-50 by only using 4 PvP zones....out of the 27+ zones in CoH...ok seems like a waste but hey it's their game not mine I just pay for it.
Planning and thinking like this is apparently why Faultline and Boomtown and Crey's Folly and Rikti Crash Site and Eden and The Hive (barring you go for Hamidon) no attraction outside of a handful of missions splattered over 50 levels...or in Faultlin's case, no missions . -

Actually you just need to do A respec trial 3 times (unless this changed)
My first two times were the Freakshow respec then I did the Sky Raider one then for fun did the Rikti one.
You get the badges for choosing the respecs as the reward I guess because I did those three listed above (2 Freak an a SR) and got all three badges but selected the respec option on all three.
Also Trial respecs are permanently banked until you use em.
Gift respecs or the ones given when they nerf something so bad they feel we need a respec, replace each other and can be done anywhere at anytime by typing /respec in the chat window. -
Will they ever award badges to characters that were made around launch who missed out on mission badges because of bugs?
Because as it is they said mission badges were known issues and refused to award them on those grounds. So either we had to NOT play or hope that they fixed em before we outleveled them (I'm looking at you Dr. percy's mask maker badge).
Anyway to get those for us? -
Positron stated a while back in a thread that the 5 hour badges are cumulative, loging out, zoning, taking missions, etc don't reset the clock or atleast aren't supposed to. Basically if you don't have em after 5 cumulative hours /bug it.

Well the thing is we've really had not content updates since August 05.
PvP is not content, more skirts and shoulder animals are not content, ED was not content.
I thought about this hard as I read through the posts since my last post and I realized something:
They probably are sitting there thinking "Hmmm we have the level spread pretty much covered with PvP, now we can take our time because anyone who gets bored or makes it through the content we have now will either go from CoH to CoV (or vice versa) or just PvP all the time in the appropriate areas...I believe they expect PvP to keep us occupied between updates.
For people with 50s there isn't any new content since ummm....issue 2? Once you hit 40 you're rehashing everything. Since then the only thing we've had to do with our high level characters each issue is respecs, badge hunting, and most recently PvP.
Since we can't flashback we don't get to experience the hollows or Striga or Croatoa. Yeah we can RSk but thats not the same as having the contacts yourself and being able to run missions whenever you want. I mean we got one TF in striga and one in croatoa, I don't count Hess in striga as content open to 50s because we need to actually unlock him and be within a certain level range to do so.
Yeah we've got PvP zones but missions in those zones have been sealed off from 45+ people (til RV goes live).
Honestly the best thing they could do for this game is bring Flashback in. They'd attract old players that left because then they could use their old characters that would normally be too high, to experience the wealth of content they've added since launch. It would refresh old fellas like myself as well because I could go back and do missions I never got to do. Being a support class I grouped alot after and so outleveled several contacts and badge missions before ever getting into their storys. This would also solve the "I was here long before badges and feel punished for being faithful because ya won't let me get Isolator" crowd.
oh and it'd also end the need to bribe lowbies a couple mill influence to get older badge missions...
If they said they'd dedicate themselves to getting this in Issue 8 and doin it well I'd be completely satisfied and content to sit on my thumbs in regards to CoH play til July if it took til then...
And maybe Trenchcoats...
I think the current problem is broken into percentages: 25% Anger at having to wait 4 months for any content. 25% Anger that it was all CoV and no CoH (graphical updates, costume parts aren't content and more than likely they'll make this game totally unplayable on ATI with their graphics update) 25% Anger that we will have yo wait, total, nearly a year for new CoH content after being given content every 1-3 months up to CoV launching. 25% Anger that we have no idea what they're working on for CoH and they never even give us teaser images until about a week or three before it hits test and so we have no idea why we should bother to wait on new CoH content if it won't come for 4 months and if we don't know what's comin. -
Will we be seeing art for the Moonfire and SS badges or are you stickin with the explore badge recycles?

I checked out vidiots and coh guru and was wondering why you don't plan on using the damage dealt badge art displayed on CoH guru?
Also why don't you use the badge art for Moonfire and the SS TFs as shown on vidiots? Both of these sites have proven to be very reliable sources for badge info and images and have shown numerous times that they are accurate by posting images before the badges become known even on test server. This being said one can only assume they got these art examples from within the game code, which would mean they do exist already. -

Could you explain the reasoning for this? Because it sounds like you're saying the CoV team is better than the CoH team. Because you surmise that they chose to put CoV ish 1 out now because CoH 7 wasn't ready yet and they didn't want to wait...
So with two additional months of development time as compared to CoVs team they couldn't even put together a single zone? Or could it be that there's one team and they did the CoV stuff first and didn't wanna wait til they finished the CoH stuff to launch both?

Well as it is even when we get stuff it breaks alot of stuff. They bring out an update and have to patch it to get it to work. Go play CoV with an ATI card. Or go back to Oct and try getting half the badges...many of which are STILL getting fixed.
I think I'd rather get new buggy stuff quickly to go with the old buggy stuff than have to wait and not get the wow factor and then sit and see the old buggy stuff and realize how buggy it really is :-p
Keep me wowed so all the bugs aren't as noticable. "Oh this mission is bugged? Hell we got like 50 other new ones to get lets move on an come abck later"

Thats asking an awful lot Bounty. As it is we're lucky if we get patch notes that aren't filled out mostly by players. Then there's the whole Known Issues section of the site that is grossly incomplete...
As someone pointed out Jack, anything to do with bases is NOT CoH content nor should it be touted as such unless you also plan to open bases up to people that don't own CoV, otherwise it's CoV content as bases in general are.
And these temp powers/buffs....how temporary are they gonna be? 2 minutes? 5? 10?

My complaint is that it took em 4 months to create A zone. They could have put that 40-50 zone in there at the end of November or even after the Holiday event ended. This would have given people a chance to get to 50 and try out other powers until the pvp junk got plugged in.

It's been four months because the bar is set higher. CoH just had to install the 40-50 content at first. Taking all its other updates into consideration, CoV has a lot more to add than just a few new zones and missions. The Patron Powers surely required a fair bit of development, as do the new villain power sets.

yeah so Patron powers could have been added in Feb. then PvP zone in March, so on.
My complaint isn't based in that it's all CoV an no CoH, granted thats a part of it. It's the fact that it took em 4 months to even HEAR about what was coming.
If you're going to take longer to actually give us updates then atleast tell us what you're doing for em. I mean good lord by this time last month they should have and probably did know for sure that Grandeville and Recluses Victory would be in this update. Hell we all knew months ago they'd be in there. The powersets and Mayhem were the only surprises. We should have been getting back story for these zones and screenshots for them and maybe even examples of the new powers since Dec. at the latest.
And just for the record there was/is an entire civilization that did/does worship cats...therefore throughout history there have been untold numbers of people whom vicariously worship Miss Kitty. With avatars of cute girlie cats like that I'm proud to count myself among them.

For many people (at least on Virtue) it's become something of a tradition to train level 50 at Ms. Liberty or Brawler, whichever one you started with. Maybe if this isn't just a Virtue server practice but happens on all servers could we see a little blurb added to the AP/GC zone story(s)?

At the current rate of development it will have been nearly a year since CoH last saw some love (Croatoa Update) by the time we see anything else...hell just giving trenchcoats as a costume option would shut alotta people up because we've wanted that since before the launch of CoH!
I have to say though Dominators aren't really a problem. The only AT that does/should feel neglected is Defenders. Yay we got two new sets of Powersets..neither of which is exclusive and as of CoV we now have no powerset exclusive to Defenders. Not to mention serious issues with Trick Arrow and FF STILL. And then there's the apparent death inducing effects of Sonic powers which have made them unpopular among players and teammates quite often...
On a brighter note anytime I see Miss Kitty (or Lady Athyna) post it makes me calm down because they always have such lovely avatars... -

Might as well say a level 50 having the accolades in a PvP lvl 50 zone is abusable because a level 45 might not have em yet...obviously I don't agree with this policy. Also couldn't anyone switch sides and get those additional accolades? So it's not like they're that abusable when anyone could get em...
Now the big question is will we be able to switch BACK to heroes after falling from grace...I'd imagine we'd lose all influence/infamy each time we switch sides. On that note would we also lose progress on badges such as Infamy gained badges? Or would the Infamy we've gained be converted to count toward the influence badge...lemme give an example for clarity:
Powerhelm has 77 million Influence. So I'm 77% of the way to the 100 Million influence badge. Now he falls from grace losing his Influence. Is he still 77% of the way to the 100 million influence/infamy gained badge? If I gain 23 Million infamy in my time as a villain do I get the 100 million infamy/influence gained badge?

Now THAT is a huge problem in my mind as well. There simply wouldn't be any tankers unless those players were so attached to their concepts since things like Mace aren't in CoV Brute power selection...I'd say slightly improve scrapper defense and give a good boost to tank defense. They can only keep 5 mobs taunted anyway so boosting their defense over that of Brutes, atleast in PvE would encourage Archetype Diversification...and we all know you guys love Diversification. -

What about the month or two after launch when no one knew about those hidden missions? What about people who come here regularly but outleveled these things during the month or two when all the badges were [censored]? You're saying that people who don't suffer from Alt-itis (which would have kept them from leveling up beyond that mission set presumably) or people who were faithful/excited enough to get the game at launch should be punished.

Nope because we had no idea badges would even exist so few if any ever fought 100 isolators especially after they saw they weren't getting XP. "True explorers" wouldn't have been wasting time in Outbreak for no reason when the explorer in them would want to get out asap and explore the actual game.

Ok so at what point would you have stopped killing monkeys when they didn't give you a abdge? 50? 100? 500? At one point it took 10,000 of them to give you the badge. NO ONE would have sat and killed thousands of them for a badge that they didn't even know existed just for the possibility that it would.

Yeah but any system they create that would let us flashback to outbreak could be used for EVERY mission. Level 50s could flashback to level 10 and get mission badges an such that are in accolades an DO affect gameplay.

Fine, have it be a one mission thing where you have to goto the contact if you don't have isolator and stop a shipment of Plague Canisters from being brought into paragon city. This way you can choose to do it and the only work is adding one contact since the warehouse and infected are already in the game.

Well the only people who want isolator and don't have it are ones created before badges or were too high to justify rerolling for one badge. Anyone created within 2 weeks of badges going in game that doesn't have to badge could get it and beyond that they'd be told to shut up. -

Illusionist also springs to mind, but the difference with Isolator (and Jail Bird) is that these are designed for the true Explorer personalities. These folks went above and beyond that requested of them by their contacts by exploring the area and enjoying the zone.

No...it doesn't...One or two people found these badges and now they're for the most part common knowledge theres almost always atleast 1 person workin on isolator or running up to the cell for jail bird. And "explorer" folks might include people who were actually faithful enough to the game to get it at launch. Basically the MOST faithful people are the ones punished by not having a way to get isolator.

Horrible excuse. badges aren't a surprise after the first two or three. Thats just friustrating not knowing what to do for those badges. Anyone who gives a damn about badges will go find out what they're missing via the web but that doesn't help when you have a fairly large number of badges to figure out.

The only badges people are proud of is the rare monster badges or ones that match their name/concept regardless of rarity. People use extremely easy to find explore badges as badge titles etc. Badges are NOT hard to find thanks to the net.

Availability of PvP zones in every level range from 15 to 50 is good because now anyone Level 15 or above can participate if they so desire. I can also street hunt from Galaxy to Kings Row to Skyway to IP to Brickstown to PI and avoid the major zones of Atlas, Steel, Talos, and Founders if I so desire, but that doesnt mean we should get rid of those zones. More leveling options to the playerbase is a good thing in all circumstances.

Ok when was the last time CoH got content? Not PvP zones because they were put in to link CoH an CoV. And "Issue 7" looks more like CoV issue 1....we haven't seen anything for CoH yet...I was responding to his comment that he an poz are of the opinion...thats like saying "Our Ui vision is of a UI with flashing lights that cause seizures and we don't care if you don't like it cause it's our game, we don't need you or your money we'll just run the servers to entertain ourselves and work for free an live in the office." It's akin to asking that they listen to the players...oh by the way they did put a poll up last year asking what we wanted to see. I don't remember if they followed it very well but they asked. It'd just be nice if something that 60 or 70% of the community wants would be considered or given priority.

Not an analogy its a fact. I was the 9th man and did 2000+ damage to the kraken...been playing since before badges were created and thats the only time I've seen it. Yeah but that guy that JUST logged on wasn't there and waiting when the team filled up and attacked. Lower the eprcentage or count number of attacks or something else.

Either way, earlier usage is a reward for earlier dedication to being an Explorer. My main cant use most of his Accolades prior to Level 50, but this is a rather trivial matter as they dont make THAT much of a difference in most cases.

The difference is you had the opportunity and choice of whether to get toy collector or not. People high levels before Issue 2 didn't really have that...taking the time an effort to get to 50 and have to delete and start over for a single badge when they could just as easily auto awrded it to every character over X level at the time Issue 2 came out.
BTW I'd love to see a stop Paladin Construction once an get badge OR Kill Paladin 2 or 3 times an get badge... -

Yeah under the current setup they have to see atleast 4 or 5 zones out of the 14+ zones...not counting zones like Boomtown and Faultline and the Shadow Shard which are generally ghost towns anyway...Once you hit 15 you never have to look at another non-pvp zone...except for traveling from one pvp zone to the other
15-25+ BB, 25-30+ Siren, 35-40+ Warburg...next PvP zone will probably mean you can hit 50 and not go beyond your level 15 contacts...yay for PvP powerleveling...

Kill Count badges (of which the Giant Monster badges are, just with a Kill Count of 1) require you/your team do 25% of the entity's HP in damage in order to get credit. So in theory 4 teams could all get credit (much more likely that 3 teams will get credit).
In your scenario of Tanker + 7 blasters vs. 8 blasters, I have to assume that both teams would get the badge, since both teams are going to contribute over 25% damage to the entity.

What about scenario's where a ninth man comes in on a spawn of an exceptionally rare thing like Kraken and does a couple thousand damage or more and doesn't get a badge? It's hard enough to find these without getting screwed out of it because the team didn't have room for a 9th man...

Any chance that they won't require you to enter PvP to get them? I know atleast one history badge (Swashbuckler) requires you to enter a PvP zone, or two, or three, to get the last plaque or two...or three...but atleast one is in PvE...
Also exactly what % of time must you be in a mission to get the badge? What about TFs? A character can theoretically spend upwards of 10 hours in some cases in a TF workin their butt off only to get screwed out of the badge because they weren't in the last mission long enough (sometimes as little as 10-20 minutes...out of 10 hours)for one reason or another (server stability problems, login server crashes, etc) . As it stands the entire group of 8 could log out and just let 2-3 people run the whole tf then the other 5 log back in on the last mission and get a relatively easy badge...doesn't quite seem fair. -
On my SJ toon I jump around to get to skyscraper roofs so that I can roof-to-roof jump while in higher level zones, typically less dangerous on rooftops...typically...

I've always had fly. Those zones just suck :-p Faultline has nothing to do other than a couple missions and I don't think more than maybe one or two in all honesty. And TV only has a handful of missions aside from running in there for the respec trial.

Why not an inherent power you get at say 30 or 40?
You go talk to someone and can choose (only once and permanently?) to get Glide (as described above) or a boost to jump height that can't be enhanced therefore not replacing hurdle for SSers, or maybe a similar safe landing power for each...

I don't see why an extra 50 ft would hurt a guy who can leap 100ft into the air and travela half mile per leap yet stepping off the top of a building hurts him...
And couldn't you TP at the last instance before hitting the ground and negate the falling speed you had built up?

Fly however...I mean the base fly isn't much (if any) above Sprint for crying out loud...Fly's speed should be a fair bit more than it is base and have a higher cap. -

The thing is Fake Nemesis requires 100 to get the badge. It would be impossible to get enough nemesis missions soloing to get the badge. You'd have to fight them in the streets or team with people thereby making them bosses and they're bosses on the street. Yes Lts are easier to defeat but harder to find.
This change hands people 11 easily defeatable Preats each of which puts you one step closer to a badge and an accolade, one of which is a badge unto himself. The badge/accolade now require half the work to get that they did before. You don't get a badge for beating a single fake nemesis or even 15 fake nems so your comparing of a fake neme badge and its difficulty with that of a praet badge is off.
There are 3 badges that before were difficult to get. Now they're childs play, atleast for "certain" ATs and "certain" builds.
Oh I know if we're giving badges out that previously required you to beat an AV now only require you to beat an EB then repeal the giant monster coding on Kraken and Paladin Construction and Jack of Irons and Pumpkin King and make their levels appropriate to the zones in which they spawn so everyone can solo them too!
Its a bad change that can't do anything but cheapen the value and the sense of accomplishment that is normally associated with those badges, and its all to shut up soloers whining because of nerfs that they can't solo AVs anymore and they just refuse to bite the bullet and team.
For the 39 and under levels this is fine but for 40 plus, you need to bite the bullet and team. 40 plus the only content in CoH up to that point not soloable is TFs/trials, even those could be soloed to a point. Its crazy that one of the few things in the game that required a team and encouraged people to actually socialize is being neutered because of people whining they didn't wanna move beyond 40 and group because of them. What you gonna do now when you hit 50? Same thing you've been doing when you got AV missions piled on and refused to group: Start an Alt or quit. Now you'll just get 7-10 more levels before doing so.
Just another useless and unnecessary change they wasted time on when they could have been working on fixing one of the many Unlisted Known Issues (known only to the devs apparently because when we do something and we don't get rewarded and its a "known issue" they just tell us too bad its a known issue and we can't give rewards) and even the few listed Known issues. -

There are very legitimate reasons for using Phase shift more than 30 second ever 2 minutes(is it longer recharge?)
They removed those.
I don't like this because now in order to spawn an AV you have to increase the entire missions difficulty, either via larger group = more mobs (which since I5/I6 = mucho danger-o and not much reward...o..) or jackin up your difficulty = more difficult mobs all the way through (now instead of white minions you gotta fight orange minions).

You'd have to run 33-50 solo heroic Nemesis missions each with 3 Nem Fakes to get the badge...

And that harms me how? not at all? ok go to it. hey remember when Bubbles provided really nice 5 slotted defense?! I remember back when I could solo a heroic mission!
Like someone said its just a matter of If I can't do it you shouldn't be able to. First non-AV soloing ATs (not me) complained about people soloing AVs...which didn't affect them at all. Then people complained about Herding and PLing too...again it never hurt the people that didn't do it. And most recently soloers complained about needing help to beat AVs because of all the nerfs making it impossible to solo them so they want them to be made easier.
However this change affects the requirements to spawn an AV which affects me negatively just like all those other changes affected the people that enjoyed those game aspects negatively. I enjoy teaming and enjoy AVs. Now I have to make sure I have X amount of people or X difficulty in order to get an av.

Well now having an AV spawn requires a certain size team. Even if the team could beat an AV with say 3 people it requires you get a fourth or fifth. Now we have Mandatory Team Sizes in order to get an AV. Either that or Mandatory Difficulty Increasing to get an AV.
and PFF is very nice but far from no risk. Its a toggle first of all. So if anything hits you with a toggle drop/hold/sleep/mez/etc your toast.
