Am I alone?

[ QUOTE ]
I don't know what it is. I just am not enjoying any /SD scrappers.
I rolled 3 /SD scrappers, a MA, FM, and most recently a DM, but I just can't get into the set.
The MA is sitting at level 10, and hasn't been touched in over 100 days, the FM/ is deleted, and the DM/ is sitting at 9 and I can't decide if I should keep him or just roll a shiny new DM/WP scrapper.

What am I missing? Is it more fun in the late game?

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually no, you're not alone.

I felt this way for quite awhile. I rolled my Saint October right when /SD launches and, while I liked the cosmetics of the set, I couldn't get into it either. That character stalled hard at level 40. It wasn't until the last X2 XP weekend that I managed to get him to 50. Once I started kitting him out things got more exciting, now he's one of my most favorite characters.

I don't really have an explanation for it. I guess just having another defensive based toon wasn't very fun for me until he could really go out and excel.

Actually, maybe I do have an explanation. When he reached 50 I also hit upon a costume I liked and a new name and theme. I changed everything about him visually. Concept goes a long way with me. Perhaps that coupled with his badassery was what changed my mind.

So when did the Devs say they'll add the option to disable custom power colors on the client-side?

As a side note, I have no problems with build copying, and I'm sure very few Scrappers here do. We're here, after all, to help one another, and when someone posts a build that looks optimized to the teeth for what you want to do, you might as well grab it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Congratulations! That is really impressive. I never really understood why people never liked sharing builds. It isn't like someone is stealing your costume.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think there's just a level of friendly competition here, and some folks want to hold on to their edge so to speak. If people don't know exactly what you've got under the hood then their imagination sometimes runs wild. I know I have looked at some videos and thought "Wow! I bet he can do anything with that 'toon!"

The reality is that the player in question didn't post the 200 attempts he made at soloing 5 AVs under a Pylon during a raid in the dark.

Having that mystique is fun!

Then there is a certain feeling of ownership I think. I have spent hours and hours creating one build. Hell, some weeks I think I spend more time in Mids than in Paragon City lol. After awhile it feels like you are actually crafting something. I guess you are, in fact. It feels personal and it may even feel like work. I could understand a mentality that feels like the creator is the only one entitled to the fruits of his labors.

I like sharing though, that's just my take on why some folks keep tight lipped.

Hey Werner? I'm a bit confused about this. It seems like it should be pretty simple but I get rather different results when I try to figure my DPS against stuff.

I was able to drop The Woodsman in about 2:45 from the first attack on him to when he dies.

Here's my question. AVs have 28,271.7 hp I believe. So 28,271.1/165 sec = 171.34 DPS? That seems kinda low for the time. What am I not understanding?

[/ QUOTE ]

your not takeing into account any of the other factors, ... mainly, the AV's REGEN

[/ QUOTE ]

Ahhh That's it of course! Thanks!

I feel rather dumb not to have realized that. Thanks for the insight though. Always learning.

I don't seem to have anything saved, but I've seen Katana/Fire builds that would be perfectly AV-capable with a few tweaks in that direction. If I remember the approach, you combine soft-capped (or near) defenses with very good resists and a rapid fire self heal. The extra damage doesn't hurt either. Anyway, good job, Iggy. Nice to see Fire Armor kicking some [censored].

The PvE God...

[ QUOTE ]
Hey guys and Girls,

I just returned from a year Hiatus from CoH and I'm really interested in exploring the PvE ability of the scrapper. I have zero interest in PvP at this point ( AoC beat that out of me ) and I'm looking for your recommendations on the ULTIMATE PvE powerset combination.

Thanks for all the replies and it feels great to be back home in CoX !!

[/ QUOTE ]

DM/SD is very strong, as is FM/SD and FM/SR. Kat/WP BS/WP and BS/SD are also good contenders.

If you're looking to be the best all around in as many situations as possible my moneys on FM/SD or /SR.
11. OK, well I'll go ahead and post this build for the smart guys/girls to critique/shred.

I don't feel nearly as confident about power choices and optimizations as I did with /Dark since I have no idea what /Rad plays like but wth gotta start somewhere.

Same plan of attack. Immobilize, ranged softcap, hover blast.

Some quick questions.

How is EMP. I have no idea if it's useful or not really. Same goes for Choking Cloud.

Endurance looks pretty good here. While he's burning alot he's recovering alot too. Do you think Hibernate is worth the power choice still? It seems like it would still have some value to me but what do you think?

3 AVs at once...

Beautiful man! Two melee AVs, one at range AND you did it with /regen!

I love it!
13. STOP THE PRESSES!

You are all gonna wanna /facepalm when I say this so I am apologizing in advance.

So I'm on my way to the gym (yay deadlifts tonight! ) and I'm thinking about the corrupter and two things occur to me.

1. Sic Sharks is part of the attack chain. Like, a big part. I haven't looked into it yet but I wouldn't be at all surprised if I could dump Shout altogether and run SoS>Shriek>Scream>Shriek.

2. The real reason I don't like /Rad is 'cause it's green. I like green actually. In real life green is my favorite color. Like stoplight green is the coolest! BUT I DIGRESS! Who really gives a damn about that! I mean Werner might care about my favorite color...and Sarrate could too I guess. ANYWAY! The problem is that I don't like green with my shark man! I mean, /Rad does sorta fit the concept better. Flying shark man of born of darkness clearly being defeated by FLYING SHARK MAN BOR OF IRRADIATED WATER! If only I could change /Rad's color to a deep chummish RED. Now that'd be hawt.

.....

Sooo in light of recent events I asked Razorface which he thought was better.

So I deleted that [censored] and rerolled him as /Rad. Yay! /Rad! I'm gonna be sooo popular now with the AVs!

I know. I know

/Facepalm.

So if you ever wanted to see if your Scrapper could take on a map that is populated for an 8 person team, four levels higher than your own, now you can!

[/ QUOTE ]

I started crying.
15. [ QUOTE ]
The thing I keep forgetting is how NoPhase works. It prevents you from phasing or hibernating again while it's active, but I can never remember if it's 120s from when you turn on the power, or 120s from when you turn it off. According to CoD, it looks like it ends 150s after you activated it. So, if you can get its recharge down to 120s, then that'd be as fast as you could use it. (Yet something else I need to test...)

[/ QUOTE ]

So if I am understanding correctly, in the build I posted most recently the only useful slotting for Hibernate would be a heal enhancement in the default slot correct? Since the recovery is already over 500% and the recharge is 95 seconds.
16. [ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
If someone wants to take the time to figure out the best attack chain I'd love you for it, if not I totally understand.

[/ QUOTE ]

How much recharge are you thinking about getting? Give me some decent recharge goals and I'll put one together for you. While Sonic Blast is an utter biyatch to calculate for, doing it for a Corr is easier than doing it for a Blaster (Defiance is teh debil!).

[/ QUOTE ]

Go with this for a start.

*edit to say thank you.*

17. OK, I need to get away from this building crap for a bit. My heads starting to hurt.

I'm trying to find a good attack chain for the second build and I really can't come up with anything better than Shout>Scream>Shriek which doesn't seem to offer ANYTHING over Shout>Shriek>Scream>Shriek?!?!

I'm in over my head here though as I have no idea how to factor in the -res of the powers.

If someone wants to take the time to figure out the best attack chain I'd love you for it, if not I totally understand.

Razorface thanks you for your efforts.

PowerForge: Do you know how Hibernate works at all, or just how it'd work with respect to end management?

[/ QUOTE ]

No idea really. Looking at the description it appears to hold you but also render you untouchable for it's duration. Effectively locking you up totally while it works. This seems tolerable if it can restore my blue bar fast. and by fast I mean FAST. If it allows the AV to shake off my immobilize then that's a problem. If I can be rested and out in time to apply another helping of sharks before the bad guy is in melee then it's fine.
19. OK, following Nihilii's advice and adding Hasten we get the following. This looks like it would allow for Shout>Scream>Shriek.

I didn't compare the dps on the two chains but I'm thinking this would be better. I'll check it now. Worried about endurance though. Can someone tell me if Hibernate is a good tool for recovering endurance midfight?

20. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure you need 2 holds. Your Dark Servant uses PG too, and as purple triangles always follow the same pattern ( 50s up, 25s down), you can throw the first hold a few seconds before the triangles go down and the second one right when it goes down.

Following this, I'd remove Spirit Shark Jaws, replace it with either Hasten or the coralax pet, and throw 1-3 of the slots as LoTG +rech in Hover, Shadow Fall, CJ.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that power choice was really just for fun. I've never seen that hold in action and it sounded really cool. I dig the idea of being able to hit one hold then the second and lock a boss down from the start but it's completely skippable.

Tell me about the Coaralax pet. Should it be slotted? Just one recharge good enough?

As far as +rech goes, TP and HT should both be perma with this build I think.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think HT can possibly be perma there. You have less recharge in it (+global) than I do on several builds (yeah, I play Dark ... some >.&gt, and I don't have it perma.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bah, your absolutely right. I forgot Mid's shows the duration of HT to be 90 seconds when the duration of it's -regen is only 30. My mistake.
22. [ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I cannot slot accurate to hit debuff sets in Darkest Night. AT least that's what the enhancement screen says. I didn't actually check this,

[/ QUOTE ]

The reason is darkest night doesn't need a to hit check. Its an auto hit toggle. Acc to hit debuff sets aren't supposed to be allowed on powers that don't need to hit checks.

[/ QUOTE ]

So the bug is actually on the MM version then? Because I do have Cloud Sense slotted into both Darkest Night and Dark Servant for the +max end and the +rech. I hope that doesn't get changed! Not that it would be build breaking by any means, I just like the extra end.

As far as +rech goes, TP and HT should both be perma with this build I think.
23. [ QUOTE ]
So power I think you should ask your Corrupter questions here instead of on their board.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hehe weelllll, that does seem to be how it's playing out.

I think many of these same knowledgeable folks have experience with many AT. It isn't that the other boards don't have their gurus, I'm sure they do, it's just that many of ours are...cross-trained?

As far as the choice of secondaries goes. I'm going to stick with /Dark. I've looked /Rad over and I'll concede that it's superior to /Dark for what I want to do. In fact I don't know that /Dark will ever be able to solo a gm unassisted. But sometimes concept just begs me too loudly to resist it and /Dark beats /Rad here.

On to the discrepencies in Mid's. I've checked this in game and it does appear that Mid's is accurate. I cannot slot accurate to hit debuff sets in Darkest Night. AT least that's what the enhancement screen says. I didn't actually check this, I just took it for granted that the game is correct when it says allowable sets are to hit debuff and that's it.

Now, this also makes me think that the other discrepancies between the Corrupter version and the Mastermind version of /Dark are accurately represented in Mid's. The good news is that this means +recharge isn't such a priority. In fact I can do without any of those LoTG pricey bahstads (not that it's a real problem using those, If someone wants to add them back in to make improvements go right ahead).

Modus Operandi is to immobilize at range and hover blast.

Attack chain is Shout>Shriek>Scream>Shriek.

Excuse power choice order. I haven't investigated endurance management too closely and I'm unfamiliar with Hibernate so I don't know how that will play out. Any thoughts on this?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here's the N00bs build in progress.

This might be a dumb question, but what is the advantage of putting the two hami Enzymes in Protector Bots? Also, do you find that you use Repair often since you have Twilight Grasp? Thanks!

Tha Hamis boost the effectiveness of the Probots bubbles and reduce their end drain (something they're known for).

Repair is not used very much really. I like it for emergencies when a bot runs out of range of TG and gets into trouble. You could skip it imo.
