  1. That is true, Snow Storm is good for toggling on AVs and letting it sit on them. But for some reason...I always get it when it's available and I just love it. I can't explain my love for snow storm, as it isn't *that* great of a power.
  2. reroll to Mind/ta!

Nah, I jest, either build looks solid to me, but as far as Peacemoon's goes, I love Snow Storm too much to not have it.

I used to have to ask not to be bubbled because my graphics card turned the bubbles inward and made it look like my char was getting impaled by lots of little light blue spears.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd like this to be how everyone sees the power!

    [/ QUOTE ]

If only, perhaps a new shield set is required for this...
  4. my lvl 32 corr AR/Pain only has Share Pain

It's doable, and it can actually lead to a lot more fun just because you're making people think you're letting them die, only to PULL THEM BACK!

You wont be gimped, you may lose some people if you only got the Share Pain route I went, just cause the heal isn't as instant, but, it does save a power selection!
  5. Speaking of heal arrow, there should be an optional heal arrow..a "tier 10" power that is purely ridiculous. Should heal for about 5 hp when 3 slotted for heals (and a minute recharge unenhancable), and should come for free upon selecting EMP Arrow, just for giggles. Because I would giggle.

So no love for the regular Ice Sword, eh? Visually it's one of my favorite powers, but looking at the numbers in Mids I'm starting to feel like I should have taken Frost instead of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I could never fit in Regular Ice Sword...I mean, it really is a toss up between it and Frost, I usually just pick up Frost for the Cone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I see your point. Looking at my build plan it really does look like I have to choose it or Frost. Ah well, I'll eventually have the Greater Ice Sword anyway. Thanks for the tips, much appreciated.

    your location makes me chuckle

    Shield question.

Well poo. Thats all I have to say about that.

    Shield question.

Cool, I didn't read the 5% base goodness, that does make it much more worth it. Does slotting effect this number? Potentially getting it up to 8% with no friends around?
  10. Ice Melee must haves are Ice patch, Freezing touch, Frozen Aura, and Frozen Fists...because you have to.

Greater Ice Sword is good, and so is Frost, so i generally get those as well.

For Ice Primary? Frozen, Wet Ice, Chilling Embrace, Hoarfrost, Glacial, Energy Absorbtion, Hibernate.

Icicles, I love it, but it isn't necessary, and Permafrost is a total dog of a power, unless you're putting the Steadfast +3 in it.
  11. Well, I've heard from people with far more experience than me that EM is totally gimped unless you're using with the DA so stuns can stack. I believe the change was something about activation times on some of the powers, which changed it from a fast firing set to a lethargic at best set.

As far as skippable powers vs. must haves? All I can suggest is the MUST HAVES are at 35/38 for EM, and the big 4 (Temp Invul, Unyield, Dull Pain, Invinc) for your invul side are the required ones. From there, you can get the passives for more rounded resists, or get tough/weave for more focused resist and more defense, that's your call.

For me, Unstoppable is a skippable power, but that is because I dislike "crash" powers. So you'll have to try that out yourself.

Thats the best I can offer
  12. "You're very attractive"

But then again...I use that on anyone.

I wonder why my teams never stick around for very long
  13. I enjoy Stone/Ice and Invul/Stone

    So, on your list...

My vote will go to shield/em or fire/dm

I loved my fire dm, but I didn't find myself tanky-enough for my taste.
  14. I used to have to ask not to be bubbled because my graphics card turned the bubbles inward and made it look like my char was getting impaled by lots of little light blue spears.

Thankfully I saved up and got a much better laptop to play on.

    Shield question.

After mulling around ideas for my shield tank, I finally figured out what I wanted to give a shot. But my question becomes this:

Phalanx Fighting, are you worth it?

It seems like I essentially have to be right on top of a teammate to get anything other than the 5% base buff, and getting someone on top of me is...inconvenient at best, and downright uncomfortable at worst. So do I take the power? Will my defensive stats be hurting without it?

I'm looking to come "reasonably" close to softcapping, which means I'd be happy with 40% def Melee/AoE/Range, because I'm really just looking to be able to handle non-AE content.

I'm planning on getting tough/weave for more def, I already have combat jumping, and oh yeah, my secondary is DM for the -tohit stacking with defense.

All that being said, my build as of level 12 (haven't gotten the power yet) looks like this:

    1eflection
1:Shadow Fist (I can't even remember if thats the right name)
    2:True Grit
    4:Shadow Maul
    6:Battle Agility
    8:Against all Odds
    10:Active Defense
12?) Combat jumping? Phalanx Fighting? Swift/Hurdle?

My goal is tanking Posi after this level up, not sure if I'll be main tank, or simply just running it to knock it out, but next would be Synapse and on up thru TFs, so any suggestions on powers would be great.

And Grant cover...I'm looking at you next... I don't feel like you're necessary, but maybe someone on here will tell me otherwise.

Final Question! (This turned out longer than I thought it would)
Could I get by with out One with the Shield? I've really never been crazy about powers that have a "crash". I don't really have any experience with them, but for some reason they just give me a bad feeling. I also feel like if I'm even close to soft-capped, I shouldnt need an "I win" button, because i should be winning all the time.

Anyway, I appreciate any help I recieve, and ideally I would like to get Taunt in to my build, and I am willing to sacrifice a movement power for it (since CJ/Hurdle is surprisingly quick)
  16. TBH, I find myself wishing I could have some inherent status protection, simply because I don't feel tanky when I'm getting mezzed...the only problem with that as an inherent would be, it would be completely useless after the anti-mez shield is picked up
  17. I'm back to make more dumb generalizations!

    Listen...it's an OPINION

more power to Heraclea if they can stand fire/kin, sure couldn't.
  18. Yeah, I found my problem to be in that thematically "fitting" ice/ice made me bored.

    But I love Ice Armor.

But, if you are truly looking to survive anything and everything... go stone/ice.
  19. as ice/ice with tough/weave...I have to say you must be doing something wrong if you still feel weak...simple SO slotting at 41 had me at 39% defense without having hit EA. Coupled with Ice Patch and freezing touch, I was living an easy life...didn't really like the character though, so I deleted her.

I'd take a look at your build/slotting. Or post it for us to take a look at.
  20. Hmm, well I'll apologize for personal statements, or "gross generalizations" but I was merely kidding.

I'm not using the "thin skin" argument because I was called out, I'm using it because I see no reason for a continued...argument...thing?

I have yet to see a team focused fire/kin build. But maybe thats just the people I see in atlas running around.

Sure, but make an innocent hyperbole first.

What do I care if you focus on damage on a fire/kin, it's your money.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didn't I just say that I don't focus on damage?

    [ QUOTE ]
Just don't expect me to have you on my team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your loss; I'm a pretty darn good teammate to have on any of my controllers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't talking about you... I was talking about the other fire/kins...the non team focused ones...

I need to work on being clear on the forums

*edit* also, why is it that people on these forums like to get offended? I really don't feel the need to get offended, nearly ever, I enjoy a good argument here and there, but I don't understand the need to get all hot under the collar over something as pointless as this.
  22. Kin is a great healer of blue bars, and kudos to you on not immobing before the tank is ready!

As far as I can tell, if you like the character, keep plugging along and it'll get better, and you'll be able to solo up a storm later on, and if ever hour feels like 10...perhaps it's not the char for you.
  23. I have yet to see a team focused fire/kin build. But maybe thats just the people I see in atlas running around.

Fire doesn't have my ire, kin does. I enjoy my fire/rad tons.

it is my opinion, that all Fire/kins should be shot.

But that is only because I like when I see controllers controlling, not doing damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fallacy #1 (with sub-fallacies). If you have a Fire/Kin you are a) a bad player b) PL'd c) only interested in damage and refuse to buff teammates

    Fallacy #2. Fire/Kins and Fire/X have no/little control

I could go into detail, but I'll just leave it at that.

    Gross generalizations are gross.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never said they are bad players, they are not a style that I subscribe to. Said and done.

As far as saying fire lacks control, I would say it lacks control compared to earth and ice, which the rest of my post essentially said. Since *I* like to do lots of really really intense controlling, fire is not for me.
  25. Oh...no...so what am I looking at here? 5-10 years?
