I know a lot of Rpers on union with "traditional" costumes (myself being one of them) just look around at GG and try and find some, or randomly click through the handbook site and see who looks "spandexy" and try and contact them in-character in-game.

Freeform shapeshifting might not be possible, but a different take on the stealth of stalkers would be doable, taking the shape of a targetted mob to perform "surprise" attacks for example. If we can change into a huge walking block of granite or a squid, why couldn't we also take the shape of particular animals? You see where I'm going with this. There are many ways shapeshifting could be implemented to create another nice variety of powers we don't already have in game. T1000-esque powers of converting limbs into weapons, another shapeshifting power that could work for scrappers. Mr Fantastic-esque stretchy powers (obviously not to a crazy extent, but then, fire blast isn't close to human torch/pyro powers either, although the root is the same) could be used to create hand-mallets, mid-range mellee attacks, bendy-dodge-rubber-skin defense sets. But then, that sort of thing would require imagination beyond "what type of energy can we fire in a predictable blast or use to power our fists/weapons at melee range" which seems to be the general consensus for "interesting" power ideas...

On the front of shapeshifting powers, saying "we already have them" is basically a bunch of [censored]. Kheldians can change into a squid or a dwarf, wow, that's some REAL shapeshifting capabilities there /em clap. Seriously, don't just discount what could be a fairly decent idea. I personally would love to see more shapeshifting abilities for characters, a la morph, mystique, changeling etc. Could work for a variety of AT's and might actually be quite fun. <removed text>

That depends on your character concept, a magic hero/villain may use a spell to grant those nearby flight, or a technology origin may use an anti-gravity generator and set it to a large field to encompas nearby allies. And so on and so forth.

and what about natural, what if your creature is able to fly naturally, then what?
i see your aim, but do know that it's made to fly your whole party with you, limiting to to 2 only makes it useless.

I know that's what it's used for. But it's very rare it ever is used (obviously there are some cases but as a whole i've rarely seen people use group fly in any situation other than roleplay.) I didn't title the thread "new group fly" I titled it "VARIATION on group fly." Personally I think group fly as is is a pretty useless power apart from in a couple of rare occasions/zones where it has a valid use. Most people in a team will just use their travel powers respectively and rendezvous at the next place they are heading. If we had a "carry other" option (doesn't even need to be a power, perhaps just an option when flying to click on the person you wished to carry) it'd be a way to portray that classic superhero scene of picking up the damsel in distress from the top of a building, flying off into the sunset and carrying her to safety. It was just a suggestion, I forgot that most of the people in this forum I see seem to try and knock down ideas rather than build on them constructively. But then, good gaming communities are hard to come by I guess.

Not sure if it's been suggested before (i couldn't see it in the frequently suggested list) but I find Group Fly a bit of an odd power, although there ARE ways to explain how your powers can cause somebody else to fly, it's a little out of the box to assume anybody who flies would automatically get a power like this as natural progression.
Personally I think it'd be a better use of the pwoer to have "Carry Team Mate" as the alternative, with flying speed slowed in 2 seperate stages, the first if you carry one person and the second if you carry two. (Obviously, carryign more than 2 people - 1 in each hand - would be a bit ridiculous.) Maybe it's just a wish from a roleplayer I don't know. I just think carrying somebody else is more realistic than causing them to fly by being in your vacinity. -

It comes into play even more if your character is a "Hulk" type character. The transformation from huge guy to huge monster isn't much compared to the transformation from regular guy to huge monster. In comic book history there are so many instances of total body transformation on use of powers (my favourite being the "shazaam" Billy Batson-Captain Marvel) that I can't believe it's not already an option in the game as part of a costume choice. -

I suppose I shoul rephrase my question somewhat. Where do the main roleplaying groups tend to frequent when they aren't off doing missions? I've been in Pocket D a few times with noone else being there at all, and what is "GG?" I'd imagine my chances of meeting a group will be much higher if I can actually find some roleplayers (which I haven't in game so far on the Union server.)

Thanks for the replies guys, I wasn't looking for an actual invite, just an idea of where/when RPers tend to be so that i'd actually have the chance to roleplay in game. I'm certainly in favour of metting a group in character, but i've yet to come across anybody who is actually roleplaying LOL. I'll look around and again, thanks for the info.

Hi, i'm a relatively new player (I played a 14 day trial on the american servers and then a 14 day trial on the uk ones and have now upgraded to the full version.) I'm looking for a RP based supergroup that would fit in with my character. (It may seem odd but I'm really looking for a group that my character would fit into rather than standing out like a sore thumb.)
Some info on my character : Brett Bastion was born different from the other children in his neighbourhood. He never got sick, he never got hurt and by his teenage years he had grown to gigantic proportions. As he got older he found his powers developed in more and more interesting ways, and inspired by his comic book heroes, he himself donned a costume and started to use his powers to defend the citizens of Paragon City.
Platinum Guardian is a mutation tanker loosely based around the Superman/Captain Marvel (DC rather than Marvel) style of hero. He's currently at lvl 15 and his power sets are Invuln/Energy Melee and i've taken the super speed power pool. I also plan on taking the fitness and flying power pools and the Energy based Ancillary pool. It may seem odd to some that I'm taking 2 travel powers but i'm molding the powers around the character idea rather than the game (which i'm sure many roleplayers will appreciate.)
PG would fit in to any super-group that resembles the JSA and JLA as well as certain incarnations of the X-Men. He is your classic do-gooder hero type, clean cut, honourable, friendly and patriotic. He would be more suitable for the "costumed" super-group variety rather than the soldier-esque or futuristic (I'm saying he wears spandex ) styles and would even mesh fairly easily with Golden/Silver age groups. PG could also be a sidekick without it interfering with his story.
If anyone has any suggestions or (if i'm lucky) invites, please let me know here or contact me in-game via the global handle Platinum Guardian on the Union server.
