Quote:1- It happend to me on a Hero in Steel Canyon.
Question for people that had the problem exiting Lord Winters realm and arriving outside the map:
- Was it Heroes only, or did any Villains experience it?
- Did you exit by clicking on the portal, or did you wait for the timeout to kick you from the zone?
- Did you just enter the first instance and stay there, enter the second and stay there, or enter the first and then transfer to the second?
- There was a short period when entry to the second did not work at the white present. Did you try and enter the second zone during this period and fail?
2- It happened when the timer expired. A strange thing I noticed too is that the timer when it reached 0:05 started going up, and I got the load screen at around 0:09 seconds.
3- When I zoned in, I was in Lord Winter's Realm 1. After he was defeated, I clciked the portal and went to Lord Winter's Realm 2 where he was defeated again. The timer expired when I was in that instance.
4- I had no problem to switch instances. -
I don't think there should be a limit. Beside, everyone gets a new Veteran badge every 3 months. I think people are just focusing on the "new" toy when it is announced. Unlocking the Demon and Angel wings is as cool as the Reveal power.
-
Quote:I thought the same, BUT... When we click the gift to go fight Lord Winter, there is 2 portals on that map. One is called Magic Portal that will make you exit the map back to Paragon City or Rogue Isles... and the second portal is called Lord Winter's Domain. You can't enter when you click it, it was giving a "tramway" screen. Maybe this portal is useable when a number of frostlings are defeated on the map?Wait, what? I thought that the portal was spawned any time we defeated a Winter Lord, and the Winter Lord was spawned just by clicking Mysterious Gifts with a team of 4 or more? Do we actually have to fight the Frostlings to summon a Winter Lord, or do not all Winter Lords drop portals?
-
Quote:I'm under the impression it won't be a problem at all. Someone will announce the Winter Lord and once dead, a huge crowd will gather at the big gift. Lots of people will get in the Lord Winter's Domain, maybe even spawning more than one instances? I suspect the "cave door" on the map that works like a tramway is for people switching from different instances of Lord Winter's Domain.
And fourth - it's great that there's an event that can be fun for multiple teams at once. But requiring multiple teams, and from what I heard, two full teams is unlikely to be enough, is a big change, and I'm not sure that's good. (Particularly when there's a very real chance that you'll spend the time and fail, coming away with bupkis.) I don't have an easy answer to that for this event, but I hope that isn't going to be your approach for every new event, seasonal or zone.
The event will be done quickly, and people will repeat that, like teams were farming Winter Lords last year. From my experience on test, 3 teams can do the event very quickly. I don't think it will be a problem during the peak hours. -
Hmmm will have to verify that. I was assuming that any presents in any zones that spawn a Winter Lord and that is defeated, will spawn the "Big Gift".
-
I love the new event. More so than the Halloween one in the sense that we don't have to wait for the event. We form a team, open presents to spawn a Winter Lord and then enter the realm of Lord Winter.
If there is a timer for the Lord Winter's Domain, a timer should be visible once we are in. Getting booted without notice is annoying.
Instead of Lord Winter phasing, how about one huge mega snowstorm with mag 100 knockback and a radius of 100 ft so no one can shoot him from a distance? Snowstorm would go down when the Guardian is killed. Would be cooler than the phasing.
BUG: on the expert ski slope in Pocket D, if you take the pathway with the teleport, you appear sideway instead of looking down the slope. -
On my super reflexes Stalker with Ninja Run, Swift, Sprint, Hurdle, and Quickness... as well as some sets like 3 Gift of the Ancients... run speed is 65ish mph and some nice jump height. Very nice power.

I got mine on time, on Oct 28th.
With all the badges and stuff; 85 Salvage - 34 Recipes - 22 Transaction slots. Not bad at all. -
I think...
1) They will open up a 4th page of slots.
2) Going Rogue will come with 2 or 4 character slots. Not per server but slots you decide which server they go to.
Personally, I play on one server and I intend to continue on that one because friends are there, SG and VG bases, Channels, etc... It makes no sense they would force me to go on another server or delete my characters if I have all my slots taken. -
Quote:I think it goes like this in simpler terms:I'm sorry, but I think we do. Because if going rogue or vigilante means that neither your original nor "other side" contacts will give you missions, it is a completely pointless distinction in the game, interesting only to hardcore RP and people who never want to do their own missions or form teams. In other words, it would appeal to a very niche segment of players. I do not want to see anything that niche have such effort applied to it.
If you're suggesting that vigilantes and rogues will have all completely new contacts across all level ranges, well, that'd be pretty neat. I'll believe it when I see it from a redname, though. It would be a lot of work.
Vigilantes are playing like Heroes that can go in Villain zones. if they open their contacts window, they have all the hero contacts, Police scanner, etc. They get Influence and must use Wentworth. When they go in VIllain zones, they cannot click on villain contacts, newspaper and so on. They can however team up with villains and do their missions with them. They can by themselves hunt in the streets to get badges like Electrician if they hunt Gremlins in Cap au Diable. If they want to get the whole villain contacts tab, get Infamy and use the Black MArket, then they must completely go to being a Villain. And they play as a villain from now on, untill (and if) they start doing "good actions", then go Rogue and so on.
Apply the same thing for Rogues. They play like villains, etc...
Of course, it's all speculation till we get accurate information. -
Quote:I've bugged it too. Tried level 1-15 and 45-50 arcs and always the same thing, they spawn at the minimum levels of enemy groups. Fro example on red side, Code Merlin is level 45-50. I start one with my level 50 and the Possessed Scientists are all level 40 in the mission. Even if I upped my difficulty to +4 my level, they will still be level 40.BIG PROBLEM WITH THE NEW PATCH
I have been working few some of the Flashback badges with a lot of characters recently, using the 1st hollows of officer wincott to get 1-14 badges.
I did one before the servers went down, and have just completed one now, and all the enemies were of the minimum level (5) available to the arc, not the usual lvl 14/15.
No XP was awarded, but merits and fb badge was awarded.
As I like to go over old missed arcs besides the badge ones, for merits and xp since exemp xp was implimented I see this as a big problem, Especially if this will also extend to TF/SF's.
I have bugged this as well, just thought that this would be best place to post this as it relates to the last patch.
So with all those gray conning enemies, people can zip through the arcs and get Reward Merits at the end. -
Quote:Perks for staying Heroes or Villains are one reason. Another reason is purely role playing aspects as many people created their characters with a personality. Not that they all actually roleplay and talk like they would (I dont do personally) but my characters have been designed like a novel or comic book characters, so I know which one would go in the grey areas or switch completely.I don't see how else they can keep any meaning to 'hero' and 'villain', though. If rogue/vigilante effectively opened up access to the whole game, then from a gameplay perspective there'd be no reason to be anything else, unless you have absolutely zero interest in experiencing the content on one side.
As things look at the moment, it's already hard to see what's attactive about staying a 'pure' hero or villain. For many (most?) people, it will be more fun to have the ability to hop over to the other side if you want to join in with something your friends are doing there. The devs have mentioned perks which are going to be associated with not switching sides, but, honestly, if they're trying to sell a box set based around the Going Rogue concept, how great can those perks really be?
It seems clear to me that for whatever reason -- concept, system contraints -- the devs are committed to maintaining a separation between heroes and villains as distinct sides. If they weren't, they wouldn't have come up with this fairly convoluted system of moral scales and market access. You can argue as to whether that separation a good or bad thing, but it would take a pretty fundamental shift in the way they're approaching this to get them to open up mission availability. At the most, I could see there being a handful of contacts who would deal with characters coming over from the other side.
The main thing I think though is that, "Gray" characters (Rogues/Vigilantes) can go to the opposite sides but won't be to talk to contacts themselves. You can join teams and do the content but cannot initiate it. If you want to talk to the contacts (so you can do the contact solo) and probably use the Ouroboros of the opposite side, you will have to do a complete switch.
And I'm sure there will be probbaly more to this. Can't wait for more details. January is not coming fast enough. -
Quote:Devouring Earth might be the real reason indeed. They said the Praetorian World is pretty much overrun by Devouring Earth. Emperor Cole need new lands to move his people or something?Devouring Earth a LOT scarier in Praetoia, just like Clockwork are a lot scarier here.
You know how scientists in this world tend to be irresponsible and make things "Just 'cuz"? In Pra, you can multiple that by twenty. Hamidon happened a long time ago their, as opposed to how recently it is here.
Ergo, the Hamidon problem is significantly more severe in their world. Given what a scary concept Hami would be to those people, I doubt they would seek it out. -
Quote:I think Tyrant just want to invade and conquer Primal Earth. In the trailer he says something like Prepare my troops for invasion.I asked at HeroCon and Posi gave the expected "No comment" on this, acknowledging that it was a worthy question.
What will be the event that kicks off Going Rogue and compels us Primals to rent in room in the Praetoian DoubleTree Hotel, where cookies cost $5? -
Quote:MMORPG.com had an article about HeroCon.Since there has been no press release, and no official word for anyone who was not at HeroCon, it's kind of hard to make a good article.
Plus, it's not especially Massively, no one in the MMO-news business had anything to say about HeroCon (MMORPG.com, TenTonHammer, etc...).
They'll wait for official press release to write some things, but since CoH is a 5 year-old MMO with less than 200k suscribers, I don't think they care really much about being the first website to have the news...

Quote:If you create a character and select Praetorian, you choose between the 5 "normal" hero archetypes and villain archetypes. You cannot start a SOA or Kheldian on Praetoria.I think I came in on the middle and didn't understand that the discussion was about starting them in Praetoria.
I am not sure what I think of that. There's no really clear RP reason you couldn't have a Kheldian on Praetorean Earth (on either side), so it kind of sucks if RP considerations would keep the epics out of there.
A reasonable-ish long-term consolation prize would be if Praetoria got it's own epic ATs.
Now, all the SOA and Kheldians in CoV/CoH can go to Praetoria and switch sides if they want. They are not barred from Praetoria. -
Quote:I would guess Vigilantes go to the Hero Ouroboros, and Rogues go to the Villain Ouroboros. Vigilantes are functionning as Heroes for the purpose of the game but can go in the villain zones. Rogues function as Villains but can go into Hero zones. They can team up and play with the other side. Some more questions.
- What Ouroboros will Rogue/Vigilante characters enter? How will they access the "other side" arcs?
- If a level X character switches sides, how will they gain contacts on the other side? Will they only ever be able to open contacts of their own level, and thus never be able to access lower level content except via Ouroboros? (If so, see previous question)
I think the way for you to get the contacts from the other side will be to make the complete transition, and getting access to the opposite Ouroboros (losing your previous one), getting Influence instead of Infamy and vice versa, and getting access to WW or BM. -
Quote:We don't know yet at which level heroes and villains can go to Praetoria. My question is as follows:
We all know that Preatorians will choose to join the Loyalists or Resistance, and must choose to leave Preatoria for their first visit to Prime Earth some time before level 20. And side switching is supposedly only to be available after level "X", where "X" is a number which has not been revealed. But which it is logical and consistent to guess is the same as the Preatorian number, 20.
Heroes are able to travel freely between Paragon City and Preatoria, however, just as Villains have access to the Rogue Isles and Preatoria. And there will be a new player base of lowbies in Preatoria, levelling to 20. While it is certainly easy and quick to level to 20, I assume that it is not the intention of the devs that they level through this content SOLO. And if they are limited to only being able to team with those who, like them, are beginning a new character in the Preatorian zones, then this will limit the possibilities for teaming. High level Vigilantes and Rogues doing the side switching missions could certainly exemplar down to help the newbies, which would add to the pool as well, but most of them will probably be busy with their own side switching missions.
So my question is, given that it will likely be level 20 before a Hero can go over to the Rogue Isles and participate in Villain teams, what is the earliest level that a Hero can go over to the Preatorian zones? Level 1? Level 10? Level 20?
This would likely be connected to the lowest level at which a Preatorian can leave his start areas and enter Prime Earth for the first time. Which is certainly not going to preclude him going back to Praetoria and helping other newbies level, even as he joins in Hero or Villain teams in whatever side he has chosen there.
It's my theory that simply doing missions in the Preatorian zones will progress you along the path of side switching, so there might be an incentive to help Preatorians do their missions that way. Conversely, doing Hero or Villain missions take you out towards the "ends" of the alignments. There won't be any simple arc or Task Force you can take, although I'm sure you'll be able to grind it like folks do Newspaper missions.
Praetorian characters can solo the level 1-20 content like any Heroes or Villains can solo their own contents. They can team-up with other new Praetorians too. They can be powerleveled by level 50s there too I would guess.
Doing missions in Praetoria does not automatically set you to a path of side switching. A hero can go to Praetoria and make only the good choices and remain a Hero. -
And I agree. Red side story arcs are much much better. I don't foresee much changes in the split between hero/villain.
-
Quote:Nothing prevents you to do that. You can switch sides as much as you want. And you can continue switching sides when they intorduce new content specific to a side, so your character can get the new badges or whatever. What would stop someone from creating a villain archetype, becoming a hero, using WW to build out the toon then switching back over to a Villain?
Have they come out with a reason for not merging the markets? Technical issue? Low priority?
Posi mentionned it wont be an easy and fast switch. It won't be like you are playing on your hero and your friend logs in with a villain, and you decide to go villain (or just Vigialante) so you can team up with him in the Rogue Isles. It seems to involve many missions and arcs that will shift your morality meter one side or the other. It might involve some penalties, or losing perks and stuff like that, so that changing morality is not a light decision. -
Quote:If you want to play a Villain in Paragon City, you can...So in essense if I want to create a Villain AT as a Hero, I can create him in Preatoria, then choose to take him to Paragon City. I cannot create a Villain AT as neutral, however, neither a hero nor a villain, and I have to choose one side and then go back towards the grey.
Do Preatorians use the normal GR system when not on Preatorian Earth, and their own Loyalist/Resistance factions at home?
1) A Villain who become a Rogue. You then have access to Rogue Isles and Paragon City. You still get Infamy, must use Black Market.
2) A Villain who become a Rogue who become a Hero (Redeemed Villain). You are then technically a Hero with only access to Paragon City. You then earn Influence and can use WW.
3) A Praetorian with a Villain archetype. You decide to become a Hero so therefore you go to Paragon City when you go to Primal Earth.
4) A Praetorian with a Villain archetype. You decide to become a Villain so therefore you go to the Rogue Isles when you go to Primal Earth. You then become a Rogue. You then have access to Rogue Isles and Paragon City.
5) A Praetorian with a Villain archetype. You decide to become a Villains so therefore you go to the Rogue Isles when you go to Primal Earth. You then become a Rogue, and then a Hero (Redeemded Villain). You're technically a Hero with only access to Paragon City and not Rogue Isles.
6) Any other paths you decide to use, you can play the yo-yo from hero to villain as much as you want. It remains to be seen what effects on characters will happen if you change often, or if you dont change at all (i.e. exemplary heroes).
Praetoria is not mentionned for any of the paths above becasue no matter what, all the characters will have access to Praetoria so they can do redeeming and corrupting arcs to change their moralities. -
Quote:Yeah, Orion Star is making a good job with that post, and updating it with new information. So the statement that Praetorians can access all three areas was incorrect? I see that this post has been edited.
-
Quote:A Praetorian doesn't have access to the three areas. They only have access to Praetoria only. They have to decide if they are heroes or villains to know where they will enter on Primal Earth (Paragon City OR Rogue Isles). At that point, if you want to be able to go to the three areas, you have to go Rogue or Villain like for any character. It's all the same system. The primary division seems to be the one that is common to Rogues, Vigilantes and Preatorians, that they have access to all three areas, as distinguished from those who can only access Praetoria and Paragon City, or only Praetoria and the Rogue Isles. The question is, when a Preatorian goes to either Paragon City or the Rogue Isles, is that decision a permanent choice, until changed by the alignment system, or can the Praetorian continue to enter all three zones?

Quote:There was no news about the level 50 stuff at Herocon. The survey was mentionning 10 universal enhancements. Getting the 10 slots would be like reaching an hypothetical level 60. There was no details what those enhancements would be. That idea might have been scrapped since then, or changed. Those enhancements would be helpful for uber level 50 zones. Again survey was mentionning a space station where we would have to fight against an extra terrestrial race. Again, this could have changed many times.I seem to remember on the original questionaire that had alot of the GR stuff on it, there was something about gaining a single slot after lvl 50 that you could slot a special globle enhancment in. My money is on this. It would probably be plausible that only true villains or true heroes could slot these global enhancments. You'd likely be able to choose from things like damage buff, exrta HP, small boost to defense or resists, recharge/runspeed buff, ect.
What I remember for all of this is (and I go from memory) that Posi mentionned at SDCC that there would be stuff for level 50, hard enough that it makes the current game like a walk in the park. That there would be a way to make level 50 even more powerful. I think in a recent article at Kotaku.com Posi mentionned that it was more than just new purple recipes. In any case, it might be completely different from what was in the survey.
Best thing is to wait for more informations in the coming months. In the meantime, it's all rumors and speculations mostly.
