This pretty much seems to clear the way for CoH on XBox 360.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that for you. The Live Marketplace on the 360 offers the opportunity for people to (in theory) pay for their MMO subscriptions with Microsoft Points ... which means, they could buy prepaid cards at any video game or computer outlet ... no credit card required. Make it a 1200-point fee, that's $16 - enough that even after MicroSoft's inevitable cut, there's still probably a nearly-full, standard MMO fee left for NCSoft.

Uh-uh.
Read that announcement very carefully ... I've gone over that mis-perception ("all of NCSoft, exclusive to PS3!!1!one!!") over on the Dungeon Runners forums already.
NCSoft made an agreement to make NEW IPs that would be exclusive PS3 titles, and is also looking at their other, existing IPs for possible NONexclusive status on the PS3. -

Full Access to City of Heroes and City of Villains®
All players with City of Heroes retail* accounts will now have access to City of Villains, and all City of Villains retail* accounts will now have access to City of Heroes. Players that didn't previously have access to "the other side" will find that they do now. Just log in to check it out!
So for the people that bought CoH and CoV what do we get.
[/ QUOTE ]
You got to play both games years before the other people could access it for free. I dont see anything wrong with that.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, they (I can say we, here)
- got 12 slots for the past two years, if they had both at COV launch.
- Had access to SG bases from both sides.
- Already have had *at least* two months free, one for COH, one for COV - and if they added GVE, that's another month. Picked up the regular, then collectors edition? More free months.
Seriously. This griping about "We need compensation" is silly.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, I really don't understand this whole "free month" thing. The first month isn't free, it's $49.99. Without being able to play online that disc you bought is just an expensive coaster.
[/ QUOTE ]
I recently scored a copy of the Collector's Edition of City of Villains to add to my account. I already had COV (I pre-ordered it, actually) ... I just wanted the CE-only goodies (cape and chest emblem).
The price to me, including S&H? $5.95(US).
Yes, it came with a free month (pushed my billing date back from ctober 4th, to ... the day before yesterday).
So, I essentially got the cape and chest emblem for negative nine dollars. One could, somewhat accurately, say that NCSoft paid me to take the goodies.
So, um ... yeah. There's a free month included; the money you pay for your COH, COV, GVE, or whatever ... is for the CONTENT, not the time. -

The only thing I can say is that this smells of power customization. Our likely hood of this happening now is much greater than it ever has been. Wheee!
[/ QUOTE ]
Power Customisation was never declared "wanted, but unlikely" due to anything that has or can change due to a shift in ownership. It is unlikely to happen in the near future because of THE CODE ITSELF.
City of ___ could have been sold to ANYone, and the situation vis-a-vis "power customisation" would remain exactly the same as it was last week. -
[ QUOTE ]
Finance related question (for lack of a better term) - for those of us who bought both, not as GVE but "Had one, then bought the other," any chance of an extra month or something? (I doubt it, and it really won't bother me if not, even if I bought both the COH DVD and COV CE, it's just curiosity.)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be perfectly happy with a badge. Seriously - gimme an in-game shiny, and I'll be content. If you want to add a costume piece or two, that'd make me overjoyed. -

I like the concept, a lot.
My only issue is - I'd like to see a better way to STORE recipes. An SG "recipe storage bin" would be very nice. Alternately, Recipe space in our personal Vaults.
^_^
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. This is the only problem I have with this. But you can store recipes in your WWs storage, but it takes up a sale slot.
[/ QUOTE ]
True.
Mainly I'd like SG space, because then I can say "I'm lookignf or X set in Y level range", and others in the SG can drop said recipes into the bin for me - whle I, flipside, drop the recipes THEY are looking for, into the bin for THEM to take.
Oh, I know - the developers want us to use the market. Well, what, you don't think folks just give recipes, and even salvage, to their SG buddies already? ^_^ The bin would simply make it less irksome to coordinate who's online, and when, and for what. -

Please remove the personal timer, it's just freaking annoying having to sit and wait every time I get a treat, or wipe out the spawns quickly.

Chop the timer to 30 seconds, and I'd be happy. 15 seconds would be even better. ^_^ -

If it bothers you that much Acro make your own art and ask BaB or Posi to peek at it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll take a crack at that.
Costume Badges:
Gold Coat Hanger, Gold Trim
10 Costumes- White Background
25 Costumes- Blue Background
50 Costumes- Black background.
[/ QUOTE ]
...
[u]Heroes:[u] Rectangular accolade-style badge; a circle containing a white hangar on a blue background; blue ribbon "wings" protrude from both sides (to fill out the rectangular format). All borders, etc, are white.
[u]Villains:[u] Rectangular accolade-style badge; a circle containing a white hangar on a red background; red ribbon "wings" protrude from both sides (to fill out the rectangular format). All borders, etc, are white.
[u]For both:[u]
10 costumes - As described
25 costumes - One silver star added to each "wing"
50 costumes - Two gold stars added to each "wing"
.... as a matter of fact, sad sorry MS-Paint art though it is, here ... THIS is what I'm trying to describe, here. -
[ QUOTE ]
so his damage is based on your lvl?
[/ QUOTE ]
He is what is called a Giant Monster; they are designed to not care what level you are, or aren't. Sort of. The higher your level the better, BUT, it's set up so that your damage, or buffs/debuffs, will still be a good, reasonable contribution.
Just, um ... don't try to solo it. Giant Monsters are meant to be taken down by MULTIPLE TEAMS, all at once. ^_^ -
[ QUOTE ]
absolute bad idea to restrict the level sets to their set zones. horrible lag in PI
[/ QUOTE ]
Better than having 50's leaving level 50 spawns in Atlas Park, thanks. -
[ QUOTE ]
cept for the fact he could kill me in 1 hit
[/ QUOTE ]
Jack's damage to YOU is, likewise, not affected by your level. If he can kill you in 1 hit at level 5 ... then he can do it in one hit at level 50, too. -
[ QUOTE ]
yeah I want to SK him for the badge but don't think it's going to happen got lucky with the pumpkin king
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't need an SK, except for the normal mobs in teh zone. Jack is a Giant Monster class enemy, so even a level 2 can contribute fine, against Jack ... even in Grandville.
Getting there is a different story, of course. ^_^ -
Yogi - almost certainly, the event won't start until after Daily Maintenance. They generally have to take the servers down to turn an event On or Off (even if only fir ten or fifteen minutes), so it's simplest to just do it at the same time as they're coming down already, yes?
eSeraphim - to the best of my knowledge, yes; I seem to recall that having all four of last years' salvage makes the relevant contact show up even in july. -

Yes, Flavius, it works that way for everyone: we can all do the "make a new character" stuff, it's only when we try to actually Enter Paragon City (or wherever) that we get the boot applied to our backsides.
[/ QUOTE ]
Guess you missed the quote. According to it, if I can log into the test server, then I should be in closed beta. I can log all the way into the test server, so according to that, I should be in closed beta.
[/ QUOTE ]
But you can't log "all the way in" - can you? ALL the way means, clicking that "enter the rogue isles" / "enter paragon city" button. You and I both get stopped at the very very last step.
[ QUOTE ]
Incidentally. I can log in, with a character I already have. I just cannot log in with a new one. This is why I am saying it is weird.
(reading... Its fundamental)
[/ QUOTE ]
If anything, that is a bug.
LEt me put it to you another way: you are only actually in teh beta if you got an email inviting you to it. If you can actually enter Paragon / the Rogue Isles, with ANY character, and haven't gotten an email?
Do the honest thing, and send a PM to Ex Libris about it, seeking to confirm your inclusion in the Beta. -
[ QUOTE ]
But, doesnt it go live tomorrow? XD Doesnt matter I cant get it to even open today so I had to delete and redownload all. XD
[/ QUOTE ]
No, Halloween Event goes Live tomorrow. Issue Eleven won't go live until at LEAST mid-November. -
I see no reason why not - you're paying for each move, they shouldn't care which character you're paying to move, either time.
-
[ QUOTE ]
O am so happy! guess the bars reset for the Halloween stuff from last year so know encountering one vampire and getting the badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC from last year ... no, they DON'T reset; I knew a couple people who hadn't QUITE gotten X or Y badge from the first halloween, who got it VERY quickly the second halloween.
It's not like the badges go away between events, after all - the game just isn't spawning the monsters you need, towards that badge. ^_^ -
[ QUOTE ]
Because no matter what schedule they use, someone will complain regardless?

The alt who needs the extra costume slot already has his Halloween Duds prepared. Got to look at my others, see who I want to spend time with - for badges, especially.
Looking forward to the 22nd with much anticipation! -

why bother with closed beta, if its like any of the ones done in the past, you guys will miss a bunch of bugs in the game!

Betas are more about BUGS than PLAYING. ^_^
[/ QUOTE ]
True Story. Unfortunately only a small percentage of the people who are in any Beta realize that.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is true and why I say that efficiency is more important than community in closed testing.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be a good tester - even a n00b tester, like myself (elsewhere, not here) - youhave to be willing to drop your game-play goals, and see "will doing X, right now, really [censored] me up as badly as it looks like?"
...
Case in point - Tabula Rasa. I don't exactly remember the instance name involved, "Crater Lake" I THINK - definitely one of the first few - there's a door you have to open up, with a keycard.
Well, I went in alone, slowly worked my way through it, got the blasted keycard, and opened the door. Huzzah, in I go ... and, as I stepped through the doorway, realised that my character went DOWN, for a moment, into the channel for the door. Ended up knee-deep in the floor for that one step.
"Hmmm,", I thought to myself, "I wonder what would happen if I stood there, while the door closed onto me?" So I stepped back, wrote up a /bug report describing the location and my suspicions. Then, I re-opened the door (it had closed while I wrote), stepped into that channel ... and waited. LO! and behold, the door closed, and .... I was stuck. What's worse, the control panel was out of reach ... so I couldn't open the door to free myself. Nothing was near enough to me to kill me, either ... I'd quite efficiently cleared out EVERYthing killable up top, and hte next batch of enemies was at tbe bottom of a rather lengthy (and steep) spiral ramp.
Was I annoyed? HECK, no .. I was happy; I checked the Known Bugs list, didn't see that there, and thought "aha! found one ... looks like I'm earnin' my keep tonight ..."
So I wrote up another /bug report, confirming the issue of getting stuck. Then used the /Stuck command to get yanked back to the instance entrance, and began the not-so-short trudge back to the door.
...
That is a teeny, tiny example of "bugs, not play" being a tester's priority. Rather than stop at the "might be, could be" report, I then sought to verify it. And sure, it wasn't a huge issue; if I weren't solo, I could've asked my team-mate(s) to open the door for me. If I didn't stupidly stand RIGHT in the doorway as it closed, ditto. But still ... I saw a possible problem, and spent time confirming it, rather than just playing the game.
Heck, for all I knew before testing that doorway ... getting stuck could have crashed the instance completely, and even crashed my client, or my computer. Lord only knew, until I tried it.
