Paladiamors, your join date is Jul 2011. Even if you've been subbed non-stop since that time I've spent more money, overall, on sub fees for this game than you have. So has A_C, I'd imagine. I recall seeing him around the forums quite a lot back in the day.

Be careful with those stones in your glass house, eh?
Nightshade? At what point, in this thread, have I ever mentioned you? And how many times have I actually said that it is NOT the subs that got it canceled?

Why don't you get over yourself. The game's going down and it's not anyone's fault. So quit blaming people and bringing these forums down with whining.
I'm sorry, are your reading skills failing you? Because I have said REPEATEDLY that this is not the reason that the game was axed. Learn to read like the big boys, and THEN you can post with everyone else, kay? Good.

You know game has ended , bot F2P and SUB suffers the same , all time investment and money investment gone down the drain ..

Friends will be lost , contacts will fade overtime , and worst off all the wonderfull TEAM of people who all made it possible for us to have FUN , will be no more and having to look for new jobs .

Sorry this stunt wasn't about money !
This stunt was a bad tought out decision in business sense .
No matter the justification , Paragon Studios kept and steadily increased there income profit.
It was just not fast enough for the greedy sharks , who make big mistakes .
Wanting the FAT big MONEY nexon is making .

Honestly in due time maybe CoH was going to be there with there coffee talk .
Was just convincing people to pay when they have fun, and stop moaning about money.
You drink how many beers a week ? smoke how much ciggarettes ?
Pay for how many cocktails or dinners , MMO has become something like that .
It is a luxury system , not a alternate way of life .
I actually don't blame any of the players, paying or not. I've said that repeatedly. But if you weren't supporting it, then you WEREN'T SUPPORTING IT. Thats not rocket science. I don't really get why people are getting so upset about it. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it, and thats not a big deal.

You would live on one packet of Ramen noodles per day? Freakin' stupid people.

Also, I'm type-1 diabetic, I have dietary needs that can't be met by a Ramen-a-day diet. Admittedly, no human being on Earth could survive on one Ramen per day, so I think you're being pretty damn disingenuous for the purpose of argumentation.

On the plus side, if indeed I and others like me "killed the game", I'll at least be depriving you of your source of enjoyment. Judging from your posts, that seems like a pretty worthy goal in and of itself.
My god, you get more and more full of yourself, and more and more loaded with absolute crap. Do us all a favor and just shut up already.

Don't tell me what I did and did not do like some sanctimonious shaming session. The game died for a lot of reasons, but it was not from a fickle fan base. Even having this conversation implies that accusation, so how about shutting up?
How about not making excuses for not supporting the game? Thats all you are doing, even when I have said, repeatedly, that I doubt thats the reason. Get over yourself kid, and grow up.

Hi. I never said anything about not loving the game. Just said you weren't SUPPORTING it. Financially. And I am not blaming anyone, to be honest. I don't think this had anything to do with money. Just the need to make this quarter not look so rough.

Thats my guess. It looks good in the short term "We shaved off 4 million by getting rid of Paragon!" but bites them in the long term when they no longer have the profit Paragon was making. Course its not a huge loss in the long term, so I guess they are expecting GW2 to pick up the slack.

@FFM, you're pissed off and looking for someone to blame, but insinuating that those players who took breaks from the game are partly to blame for this is wrong headed and downright low, and stinks of the kind of "thou shalt have no other game but me" fundamentalism that is one of the worst things about MMO communities.
Except he IS right. Not entirely, mind you, but if you weren't paying in some way then you weren't supporting the game.

That being said, this decsion wasn't about money. City of Heroes was still profitable, even if it wasn't the MOST profitable. The excuse even SAID as much, that City of Heroes just didn't fit into their view of restructuring. Chances are it could have been doing as well as Aion and it may have still gotten the axe.

While you may be right, I think its better to try then it is to just sit around and do nothing. Worst case scenario, it ends up closed and gone for good. But there is always the possibility, no matter how faint, of getting some form of stay of execution.

We don't know what their actual motivation was, so we can't actually say whether it was a good decision or not (hell, it may have been the best of a bunch of bad options for all we know).
Yeah, I know. They may have a perfectly good reason for what they did. But even IF they did, the sudden canning of Paragon like that is not okay in my book. But at LEAST they let the servers stay on for three more months, I suppose.

Still and all, I don't feel good about this. In any way, shape, form, or fashion. It's just a bum deal for everyone involved below the suits.

  13. MASTERMINDS. What drew me into the game in the first place, my own private army. Mercs in particular itched a scratch that I couldn't manage in previous MMO's. So perfect. *Sighs*

Uniqueness overall. Some really fun concepts in powersets here, and the ability to mix and match, as well as customize was extremely welcome.

The community. Most of the people here are just great all around. This I will miss just about most of all, since its so hard to find anymore.

KNOCKBACK. No, don't laugh. I am serious. Being able to knock my enemies for a loop has amused me for hours on end, especially if I can manage it from high places.

The studio. Paragon. These guys are a class act. After dealing with some real jerkholes over at Blizzard, it was such a welcome breath of fresh air.

I think NC Soft just stopped caring about COH, Paragon Studios and its players, and saw a perfect opportunity to finally get rid of us. I think people are making the wrong inferences from the Q2 statements. I think the real story is that GW2 is giving them the cover they need to go forward with this move.
You may be right. Either way, NC soft will never be seeing another dollar of my money. It's just if you ARE right, they've also earned my lifelong hatred and desire to see them burn.

This is my wager. Some suit needed to fancy up the numbers, and cutting Paragon made it look good in the short term. And they expect their other games to cover the hole that will be made by that lack of overall profit later.

I see this plan failing. Miserably. This is also why I hate executives so much.

Otherwise, you just don't support them.

People tend to leave games and come back for new updates/expansions. Just look at WoW with Mists of Pandaria.
Thats...not like that at all. Now if you'd said "I wanted to see the Avengers" or something like that, something that you PAY for up front to support, then you might have had a correlation. As it stands, you're just upset because he is right. If you didn't pay, then you weren't supporting the game financially. Its not really a difficult concept.

As for WoW? I know plenty of people who aren't coming back to WoW. And while that may be anecdotal, what isn't is the three million people Cataclysm cost them. Wrath only lost 500,000 at its height, and yes Cataclysm regained those. Same won't be said of Mists, mark my words.

Makes me tear up, hearing that and thinking that in just a few short months, it'll all be over.
  18. Do you think you'll be able to give us some advance warning, Zwill? Or...was this the advance warning?
  19. I think Zwillinger just head desked, before going on a banning spree.

It was either that, or he was afraid he wouldn't have access to red-name posting. It kinda sounded like it could go either way.
