  1. I would think a sequal would be an excellent oportunity to move to a single server environment.
  2. Are you talking about the building at the north end?

That was going to be the hero launch pad for the cancelled expansion pack with the Moon zone. It's shown on the map that came with CoV.
  3. WAR teleports you instantly into PvP scenarios, and you don't have to walk anywhere or talk to anyone.

The trouble with CoX PvP is often there isn't anyone to pvP against in the zones, so you aren't going to take the trouble to go there if there is a good chance there is nothing going on when you get there.

And there are no game lore reasons why you shouldn't have it, teleportation is already established as quite common.

COH 2 would be good. Would we be able to transfer characters from COH/V?

Trouble is, keeping old characters is one advantage COH 2 has over DCUO or CO, but it could do a lot of damage to a new system.

(I couldn't sleep, and it seems like a question that is relevant to the original topic.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll answer this question with a question...

When NC released Lineage 2, did they allow character transfer from Lineage 1? The answer to that might provide a clue to the answer to the same question in a possible CoH2.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know, what did they do?

I'm not sure it is that good a clue though, since it involes a completly different development team.

A lot would depend on how big the changes are between coX and CoH2. If the ATs and powersets are very diffent (or gone all together) it would be difficult to transfer more than the name.

What they certanly won't do is alow maximum level CoX characters to be anywhere near maximum level in CoX2.

My feeling is they will alow some kind of transfer, but probably just name and some kind of bonus (e.g. badges, or a boost to starting XP).

If you don't respond directly, or even at all, to it then the ranting/comments regarding the topic will cease.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The ranting is funny. Why would I want it to stop?

    [ QUOTE ]
Does it really matter where you come from or what you have been taught by anyone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

yes. Of course it does. you obviously have been taught that it is the "Right thing to do" to respect other people's opinions. I have been taught that honesty is more important than sparing people's feelings.

    [ QUOTE ]
All that cr@p goes out the window when you deal with other people who come from other countries, backgrounds etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

People are bound to have differences based on background and culture. You can try not to offend anyone, which basically means you can't have an opinion about anything, or you can embrace the diversisty and enjoy the conflict.

    [ QUOTE ]
If you still think that is the correct way to behave and act towards others then you my friend, are as idiotic (and rude I may add) as the person you are proclaiming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But this is your backgound. You think it is idiotic (and rude) to suggest someone is an idiot. I think it is idiotic (and dishonest) not to be honest in your opinions.

    [ QUOTE ]
You see these 2 quotes, these weren't directed at you, they were directed at all those who decided to take a shot at a "sitting duck", but do not necessarily concern everyone if they haven't displayed that type of behaviour. If it was directed at you, then I would have used you name, as I have in numerous posts to you, and others, before now. Next time you might want to take note of that before jumping on your high horse

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never said they where directed at me. I don't care who they where directed at, I would rather people expressed thier opinions openly and honestly (and that includes everyone, including Lionsbane) than where govenerned by the morality thought police, terrified to say anything in case it might cause offense.

If that's your attitude towards other people, regardless of who they are

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not my attitude towards people, regardless of who they are.

    [ QUOTE ]
And you think he is the only one who is "self righteous" when it comes to their own opinion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, I'm pretty self rightous. The difference is, I somtimes admit being wrong (well, occasionally).

    [ QUOTE ]
if they stated something they believed to be true

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they stated something they believed to be true, they would simply be kindly corrected.

It's only if the persist in spouting the same old nonsense, despite many people telling them otherwise, over a period of several years, that they are simply met with ridicule.

    [ QUOTE ]
Instead they should be recieving responses which are respectful, regardless of any previous words that have come from them

    [/ QUOTE ]

For goodness sake WHY!!!!!!!. This falls into the catagory of political correctness gone mad: "Oh, we must be respectful of other people's opinions, regardless of how downright stupid they are la la la". I was raised in Lancashire, where my mother taught me to call a spade a spade, and an idiot and idiot.

    [ QUOTE ]
    then post some evidence up

    [/ QUOTE ]

Quite, something I try to do as much as possible, as you would know if you actally followed the link that I posted earlier before jumping on your high horse.

And sadly once again, what was once a respectable thread with some good content goes down the path of bickering and arguing. The worst thing is, I am not remotely surprised

    [/ QUOTE ]

I blame I13 - with no in-game PvP, some people need to find other outlets

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've always prefered to fight with words myself.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Everyone who is bickering in this thread is displaying the traits of exactly why my idea wouldn't work. Because people are different over the internet than they are face to face. Most of the comments here you lot wouldn't dare say to each other in a pub because you'd get a smack.

You people are inherently evil and weak and make me sick! Now who wants to meet me for a pint and a fight?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOL

    (and quoted for truth.)
  9. Void Hunters have been fixed, they do much less damage than they used to, and it is neg, which all keldians in all forms have resistance too.

They are a little tougther than regualr quantums in that they still have a shield that gives them some resistance to energy and negative energy damage, but only bosses rate as any sort of challenge.

If you are having trouble with minion or Lt voids, I'm afraid you are doing something wrong, since they lost thier ability to rip your face off some time ago.

I dont think Warcraft had 11 million players.

I think it more likely got the Harry Potter phenonenom.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Correct. Took you long enough to realise it.

    [ QUOTE ]
Which is something you cant predict but you sure as heck can learn from.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What are you going to learn? That people tend to do things because other people are doing them, even more so if they are young people? That being good isn't enough, you also have to be lucky? Don't we already know that, and it doesn't really help much.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
It's not the movie thats the key. Its the profile of people watching it that counts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the profile of people watching summer blockbuster action movies (such as my mum) has very little resemblence to the people playing MMOs.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I can never get my point across here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, you would think someone who was such a great marketing expert would be able to sell thier ideas, wouldn't you...
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I believe he does work in marketing.

But I know a few people who work in in education who don't understand the first thing about it, but believe they are great experts... (you have probably been in a few of thier classes)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but does he work in marketing for the videogame industry? I don't think he does, and the techniques used in whatever industry he DOES do marketing for aren't going to work the same for the videogame industry. It's way too fluid.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure a competant person who worked in marketing would realise that...
  14. We understand what mirroring is. My mum loves going to see blockbuster special effects action movies, but she has never read a comic book and won't go near a computer.

If mirroring worked, why aren't 95% of blockbuster movies about orcs?

Oh yeah, and where is Brain Training, the motion picture?
  15. I believe he does work in marketing.

It's not Bickering, is Lionsbane baiting. The more you point out how wrong he is, the more wildy preposterous his rants become. Great fun, and entierly within message board rules.
  17. If the gaming industry reflected the film industry it would be RomCom Online that had 11.5 milion subscribers.

    Dark Tanks Rock?

Auto travel powers (e.g. Swift) don't accept Universal Travel.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
That may be usual business practise in MMOs but its time for a wake up call. This game has not got the player base to survive a new major hit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, yes, the usual "Lionsbane understands the market far better than the entire gaming industry".

    [ QUOTE ]
Create a sense of anticipation. And CoH needs to react to that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The thing you really don't understand about the gaming industry is it can't just "react". They couldn't produce CoX2 before 2010, by then any "sense of anticipation" will have been replaced by a sense of City of What2?

    [ QUOTE ]
That hasnt been true for this game since Marvel was originally announced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The anouncement of MUO set the entire geme development industry in stone did it?

They didn't even start hiring staff for CoX2 until NCSoft bought the licence boyo.

    [ QUOTE ]
    IF CO is on schedule

    [/ QUOTE ]

If that happens, it will be incomplete and bugged to oblivion. Given it's current state it certainly won't be properly finished by April.

    [ QUOTE ]
will have already tasted the "poison apple."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Players are going to try CO. There is nothing anyone at NCSoft can do to prevent that. Players trying other games is not a problem, that is happening all the time. The only thing that matters is those that don't come back. AoC and WAR has shown that CoX has a huge ability to draw players back, and a sequal will have even more drawback power.

And if CO really is so much better than CoX that no one comes back, then no amount of marketing will change that, and we win becuase we will have a better game to play.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
If it is actually on the cards, they haven't announced something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing at all unusual about that. It's the way the gaming industry works. Most games are in development for a couple of years before they are anounced. Why? several reasons:

    1) Usual buisniness practice, to make it hard for your competators to steel a jump on you.

    2) Things get canceled, or undergo major changes, especially in the early stages. This generates negative publicity, if the product has been anounced, but what players don't know can't hurt them.

    3) Anouncing a sequal can be damaging for the current game.

    4) Games take years to develop. If you anounce it to soon everyone has forgotten about it by the time it is complete. So you leave off official anouncement until you are ready to start ramping up publicity for launch.

My prediction: CoX2 will be anounced in Positron's 5th aniversary address, for release early 2010.

Is the world not about choice and freedom?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No, no it isn't.

I've heard those that espose anarchy as a form of government use this argument. It fails because it is based on an invalid assumption about human nature: people are basically good.

What really happens under an anarchistic society is the strong take what they like from the weak.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Whoa, whoa folks! Lets not safe it up too much! Let the self policing take effect. Most people who play this game, I assume, are interested in being a hero - so there should be no shortage of do gooders around to lay out some knack to those who would be going around shoeing other players willy nilly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, lets take this seriously. It's more than it deserves, but I have nothing better to do.

People who play this game are interested in pretending to be a hero, but mostly they are interested in having fun. Not many people think babysitting is fun.
  23. Could be an accolade power, like the Ouroboros portal. Collect PvP badges to get it.

Could also send out PvP zone alerts, so player know when to use it. E.g. send out an alert when a base is captured (RV), a launch code obtained (WB), a bounty reaches 1000 inf (SC) or a meteor fragment obtained (BB).
  24. TFs are designed to be the fastest way to earn merits. However the number of merits is intended to be proportional to the length of the TF, so it shouldn't matter which TF you do. However, repeating a TF in the same day gives reduced merits, so it is best to not repeat the same one continously.
