I don't think it's a coincidence that this is the first movie in which the Hulk is performance captured from the actor playing Banner. I think has two effects - a more emotive and Banner-ish Hulk, and a more authentic performance from Ruffalo, who is thinking "any minute now I'm going to get to suit up and smash stuff".

Quote:I think I will reserve judgement until I actually see the water effects for myself...This will no doubt be a pay set. Bio Armor will likely be free - and I am unsure on Nature but I bet that will be a pay set also. Psy melee will likely be a pay set too.
...but yeah, I can just imagine the huge amount of work for poor Tunnel Rat and her team regarding water effects - so Water Blast is extremely likely to be a pay set.
I think it's more likely that Bio Armor will be a pay set and Water Blast a free-to-subscribers set. Simply because there are no defensive pay sets yet. The new tech for absorb is just as new as the new tech that might hypothetically exist for water. -

The point of an argument is to convince people of something.
So it really doesn't matter if you think an argument is fallacious: If people find the argument convincing, IT'S A GOOD ARGUMENT. And the contrary is also true: It doesn't matter how logical you think your argument is, if no one believes you, IT'S A BAD ARGUMENT. -
He's okay of you are playing a tank or defender, but otherwise he's dead in a second. The problem is the AI for companions in the DA missions is set to "aggressive". I think most people who have used the MA know that it's usually better to set mobs to "defensive".

You forget all the refugees coming from Praetorian Earth. They pose a big social problem for Primal Earth. But with Praetorian Hami taken down they could return and start to rebuild their planet.

Quote:I'm kind of thinking Thanos would have an agent on Asgard, who could redirect the bridge (wormhole) to allow his minions to invade. I'm thinking he would use the Frost Giants, since they would be pretty mad after events in Thor1.Well in the movie the bifrost is a wormhole generator but it only activates from within Asgard so restoring the bifrost shouldn't be opening the gates to invasion.
Cosmic Cube = Ring of Power in a different shape. Using it will tend to produce bad results.
Quote:As to Thanos, if he wants to invade Asgard he can since he IS Thanos. I'm sure he knows ways to get into Asgard without the bifrost.
Quote:Can THOR beat Thanos in a straight up fight? Barely. Thanos would have the advantage. ODIN could take down Thanos but it would be costly for ODIN to do so. -
-
I don't think there is any doubt that the cosmic cube could fix the Bifrost. The issue is, would using it be wise?
Odin putting himself out of commission for X many years when Thanos is attacking might not be wise either, but it might be necessary. -
I would go for Zola in CA2. After all he is played by a British actor, which makes him a must for a villain in an american film!
Start off by aging him up to around 110, and put him on elaborate life support. His motivation could be to extend his life/immortality. He only becomes a cyborg at the end of the film, when his original plan (transfer his brain into Steve Rogers body) fails.
The return of Red Skull (now working for Thanos) could serve as a complication for Zola, since he did betray him in CA1.
The use of Thanos has interesting implications for Thor 2. He has the power to strike directly at Asgard to try to acquire the cosmic cube, so you could do a largely Asgard set movie. -

Quote:Yes. Your arguments are absurd. Your attempt to argue that the absurdity argument is absurd is absurd. Your attmpt to use the internet to prove ANYTHING is absurd.
Even in this quote, you continue to mainly argue by using the absurdity argument. In this case, "how absurd is it that he has to link things to prove his point? After all, the internet lies all the time."
Quote:1. Melee powersets are sets that primarily exist to do damage in melee
Quote:2. A set that does more damage is superior to one with inferior damage without the consideration of other factors
Quote:3. Survivability and endurance are secondary to damage in a damage powerset
Quote:4. Balance metrics should take into account the damage a powerset CAN do, ie the maximum damage a powerset can dish out when focused on damage
Quote:They are the basic assumptions of quite a few players that care about this type of thing. Just because you don't care doesn't mean that those people are wrong, it means you have a difference of opinion.
For the rest of use: leave us alone, we are having fun. -
I focus on looking cool.
and I'm afraid to say, not liking a style of debate does not make it false, whatever link you may be able to find on the internet...
I tell you what does make something false: Invalid assumptions. -
Quote:Presumably a debuff, very likely a toggle (Chilling Embrace style), with the stalker version changed to a click.Going completely off the names...
Sounds like Genetic Contamination will be swapped with Genetic Corruption on Stalkers. That one is easy enough. :B
Quote:Improved Mitosis sounds like a heal... DNA Siphon sounds like some sort of Foe Drain, Self +Heal, so my guess would be that Stalker's will lose DNA Siphon, and Improved Mitosis will just be a reskinned reconstruction, like Willpower got for Stalkers.
Quote:Evolving Armor sounds like a +Def or +Res for each foe nearby sort of thing (it evolves to be stronger when you need it to be? maybe?). So this would be my first guess for being replaced with Hide on Stalkers.
Quote:Then again, if the set has any passives, those might get tossed out for Hide, instead. -
Just as an aside, can someone fill me in on this Daisy/Quake person?

Okay, the down side:
It makes it less likely they can get Whedon to write an episode for Dr Who... -

Quote:Quite true, but I'm also of the opinion that Titan Weapons isn't really very much fun to level, wheras staff is great fun. That's going to be a matter of personal opinion and preference, of course. I never leveled any character as fast as my TW Brute for two reasons: It's too much fun to stop playing, and the set felt like I was holding onto the handlebars of an out-of-control motorcycle. I made it a point to hit all the mayhems while leveling, and I had to be super-careful not to overlevel them. And I didn't take Build Momentum until level 47, after I had destroyed any endurance problems.
I'm enjoying my Dark/Staff Tanker, although progress on Staff is of course slow because Tanker. Damage feels pretty good, too; I've dropped Tankers in the past because they just weren't doing what I felt was reasonable damage, but I'm fairly happy with Staff so far.
And the bottom line is, the game is all about having fun. -
Quote:That's exactly what you are doing. Sets are played differently, so ther is NO SUCH THING as "equivalent rotations" to compare.I would be dishonest if I tried to evaluate sets that way. I would be comparing two unlike objects
Quote:and the only assumption anyone would make is that I would be deliberately trying to massage the numbers to prove my point.
Quote:Of course, these numbers are less accurate for tankers and stalkers, because of their unique mechanics. But that wouldn't necessarily help Staff, because Mercurial Blow is not one of the best DPA Tier 1 attacks (it is tied for 9 out of 15 before damage buffs, 10-11 after damage buffs).
Quote:I know the relative values of the forms. In order for FoM to be useful, it would have to either increase survivability by a factor equal to 7.5% regeneration/75% regeneration or increase damage enough to overcome the benefits of FoB/FoS.
Quote:If you try and ignore that and deliberately do not try to do as much damage as possible, the analysis will be flawed.
Quote:You haven't played Staff at all, so your opinion doesn't matter.
Quote:I'd reckon that I know as much, or more, about the game than you, having played it for longer and arguably done 'more', but that's just a personal opinion, not a fact.
But you don't need to know anything about the game to spot invalid assumptions, and to know that a conclusion based on invalid assumptions is false.
Quote:Finally, you assume that I haven't played Staff, which is completely false
Quote:You haven't shown ANY measured performance. You've given anecdotal evidence.
In my opinion, staff is significantly worse for Scrappers than for the other melee ATs, so I am quite willing to believe that either the scrapper version underperforms or the other versions overperform. But I don't have a problem with that, lots of powersets perform differently on different ATs and in conjunction with different secondaries or primaries. If the difference was significant enough to notice, you can be sure there would be a hoard of people coming to the forums complaining (especially when they have spent money on it). When (if) that happens, then it's time to crunch some numbers and try to find out what's going wrong.
Quote:The other argument everyone has used is Appeal to Popularity and it is also wrong.
here is a valuable life hint: not everything you read on the internets is true, posting a link to something doesn't convince anyone of anything. Just to show that anyone can paste a link instead of making a valid argument, here is one for you:linky -
He never hits anyone with his staff in the books.

Indeed. Legally, it would be equivalent to someone who had been in a PoW camp for many years after the end of a conflict.

Quote:Actually, I think Steve Rogers believes that the good guys are the guys who don't lie to their allies, don't keep dirty secrets, and don't believe the end justifies the means.Strictly speaking they are the good guys, it is just that Fury and SHIELD realize there are subtle shades of grey in reality while Cap has the tendency to think in terms of the good guys always where white hats and the bad guys where black hats.
Quote:SHIELD pretty much polices the police and I think they answer to the President and the U.N. but it has been awhile since I read up on them.
SHIELD had to have been likely started at the request of the US govt and it just grew and grew.....
The only person who should have been able to authorise deployment of nuclear weapons was the President.
Quote:Howard Stark helped found SHIELD and get it started, and I suspect Captain America 2 will reveal that Cap's Howling Commandos and Peggy Carter were among the original recruits for SHIELD. -
Quote:Given how the movie panned out, I don't think he would feel comfortable being on the SHIELD payroll at the moment. They would have to convince him they where the good guys first.
Nowadays, he's pretty much in charge of the Avengers, SHIELD, and is protecting the entire world from threats so a civilian job is pretty much out the door.
The quote from the RL Pentagon is interesting, since it shows how the military view such organisations: with acute mistrust. "Who are you answerable too? What's the chain of command?"
Quote:Also I think his ID is public knowledge, so if Steve Rogers goes looking for a job he'd likely be hired because he is Captain America instead for the skill set he'd bring to the job.
That could work, the Marvel movies seem to be able to get away with being self-referential.
