If its posted in the suggestions forum, it automaticlly becomes a suggestion.
You could post "George Washington was the first president of the United States of America", and it would become a suggestion.

It did occurred to me it mite be to good but as fires only real form of defence is damage i judged it would be ok

It would give /fire stalkers a much stronger AS than any other stalker. -
Indeed it is. I'm guilty of using hyperbolae.

Cutting off from one of their greatest games, isn't a sign of expandability but a sign of shrinkage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, NCSoft is shrinking. With a string of flops and near flops, it needs to, at least in the short term.
But French and German players will be no more cut off than Spanish or Italian players are now.
[ QUOTE ]
there was one more choice: To promote the game better in EU countries.
[/ QUOTE ]
Adversising is good, but it won't sell snow to eskimos. CoX is based on american comic books. It's appeal in europe is going to be somewhat limited however much you advertise, and advertising is expensive. I guess they could sack a few more people in order to pay for it...
[ QUOTE ]
Of those two options, isn't clear what helps more to business survivability long-term?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it isn't. The most common cause of buisiness failure is becoming overextended. Becoming larger increases the chance of very large profits in the long term, but decreases the chance of buisiness survival in the short term. -

They were offered their own localized environment when they bought the product.
It was part of the deal to make the buy.
[/ QUOTE ]
People who bought Auto Assault where offered a game to play... (There are still Auto Assault boxes on sale in shops)
The made a localised Korean version, but axed it when the game proved unpopular. Korean players where given a transfer to the US, but the don't get korean language support any more.

While I am not directly affected by it, I don't understand why you say all that.
[/ QUOTE ]
You gotta pay extra developers to do the translation, you gotta pay the GMs, you gotta pay the forum moderators, you have to pay for the server, you have to pay for the electricity the server uses, you have to pay for the techs who keep the server running. That probably adds up to employing more people than are actually playing on the French and German servers!
[ QUOTE ]
While I am not directly affected by it, I don't understand why you say all that.
Ok, life is unfair, bad things happen, it's tough and all that, but you seem to like this situation...
Like you're eager for this to happen...

A company that can't take tough buissiness decisions is a company that isn't going to suvive. -
Yeah, there are three powers that work like this (the others are a freakshow disguse and the Midnighter one). Unfortunatly the game engine doesn't support being stealthed to one mob type and not to others, so these are all actually stealth vs all. That's why they all have short durations, in the hope you won't spot the subtefuge.

If we can change into a huge walking block of granite or a squid, why couldn't we also take the shape of particular animals?
[/ QUOTE ]
No reason, but the OP suggested shapeshifting as a "new power to try", to which Ravenswing correctly pointed out that the game already has shapeshifting powers. If the OP had suggested more shapeshifting powers, or the ability to change into something specific, say a tree, or a seagull, then there suggestion would have made more sense. -

8.fiery embrace = A second build up would be very handy for stalkers.
[/ QUOTE ]
To handy. That's why this power aint gonna happen. -
[ QUOTE ]
But what will happen to people not knowing English?
[/ QUOTE ]
Economically, they are so few that NCSoft is better off sacrificing them and saving the money.
[ QUOTE ]
they are entitled to their own servers so they can be sure that they can use their native language
[/ QUOTE ]
No, they aren't. If French and German speakers where entitled to this, so would speakers of Irish, Welsh, Norwegen, Finish, Danish, Spanish, Portugese, Polish, Estonian, Swaheli, Elvish, Klingon etc etc etc. -
They keep thier quantum guns in the same extra-dimensional backpack that all weapons are stored in the CoXiverse. So as soon as they catch sight of a keldian they can whip them out.

[ QUOTE ]
within CoH for a shape shifting AT probably the best you can hope for is a kind of super Kheldian where every power is a mutually exclusive toggle that changed you into a different entity but balancing such a thing would be a nightmare eat ch "power" would have its own set of sub powers if you followed the khelidian model that would be about 5 sub powers per actual power so your looking at 45 powers (90 if its a primary and secondary) that need to be created/animated. that's a hell of a lot of work for a single AT
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe this was the kind of thing that was actually planned for the Blood of the Black Stream epic AT. -
All this phlosophy is going over my head. Can we get back to maths, I can cope with that!

a la morph, mystique, changeling

These sort of powers are hard enough to manage in a PnP RPG setting. Any "freestyle" shapechanging is out of the question given the technical limitations of a computer game. pre set forms with pre set abilities is the only form of shape shifting possible.
Keldian forms are not the only shape shifting powers in the game. There is also Granite Armor, the Electric Armor tier 9, and a gaggle of tempory powers. -
Oil Slick was an attempt to introduce this sort of thing. I think the problems they have had with it has put them off doing more of the same!
-
Economically, it would make a lot of sense to cut the French and German servers. They are clearly very expensive to support, with a very low population.
-
[ QUOTE ]
so can you just simply port powersets across from one side to the other?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you can't. And that is not what they are doing. Power sets are being changed, to a greater or lesser extent, to make sure they are not overpowered on thier new ATs. They are clearly less worried about powersets being underpowered, since we got Electric Armor Stalkers.
Take the example of Regen. Since the number of hp/sec regenerated depends on base hp, if left unchanged this would clearly be better on a brute or tanker than it is on a scrapper.
This means they will have to do alternative versions before they proliferate this set. Which in turn means it needs more work, which pushes it down the schedual. -
I think that what puzzled Alpine is he does understand it now, and has defended himself by proving it better than anyone else could.
-
Yes, I've noticed this. Appears to be mostly ambush spawns incorectly flagged as hostile. Has been around for a while.
-
The original reason for adding quants was it was at the time felt that since keldians where an all rounder AT, they would need a specific weekness. I don't think anyone on the development team still thinks that, which is why quantums where nerfed into harmlessness. They remain in the game because they are tied into the story arc that acompanies keldians. If you are having trouble with them, it's because you havn't got the hang of playing a keldian yet.
And there is a story reason why quantum weapons have been distributed to villain groups -
Power sets that would be unreasonably strong if copied over without change are modified before they are proliferated. See Psi Blast for example. This is also why we havent seen regen tanks or butes yet.
The combinations mentioned by the OP aren't especially strong, and are certainly no stronger than combos that have existed since the year dot (e.g. Ill/Rad, Fire/Kin). -
It sounds like Dungeon Runners may be facing the axe.
-
There is already a thread on this. It is fixed internally, but is unlikely to make it in before an issue 13 build.
-
I would like to add my sympathies to those loosing thier jobs. I hope you can finds something great soon.
It's pretty clear from the news on the US forums that NCSoft are having a major reorganisation. I'm not all that suprised, since I think the whole organisation made mistake in trying to apply a Korean buisiness model to western markets. MMOs where never going to be as widely popular, or played for such long hours in the west, so a buiseness model based soely on MMOs wasn't a good idea.
It seems NCSoft have been publishing MMO after MMO in the hope that they would get lucky and one of them would be a massive hit, when in fact they simply ended up competing with themselves.
There recient change to consolidating existing successful products would seem to be a good direction to go in from a buisiness standpoint, but harsh for the staff. In the long term, they really need to diversify into growth areas such as hand helds, family games, and mobile phone games. -
Can you get Jay to make a hat with corks then?
-
Used to have Hasten on my bane. Respeced it out, didn't need it.
