    Adamastor!

I did a mission yesterday that had Adamastor in it as an EB.

How do I get him, and what other GMs do we have available?

Sounds really cool, isn't there plans to make a booster for all origins, Tech, Magic, Science and so on? I would love a Science booster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tech themed booster was the Cyborg Pack, and now we're getting the Magic pack. So that leaves us with: Science, Mutant and Natural.

*Hopes mutant pack is next* >.<

    Oh crap...

... using Mystic Fortune power on my MM pets?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Keep in mind, we know nothing of the power yet, other than its based on the tarot, and gives buffs, for all we know, it could have a 3 hour recharge.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
If your test folder doesn't have a mission folder, then you have no missions to copy, as that is where they would be stored.

    Do this:

SEARCH for all files with the .storyarc extension. Create "Missions" folder in your Live CHV folder. Copy all files named *.storyarc to the new Missions folder.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to have to try this once I get home tonight...

When I couldnt find the test mission folder (the critter and group ones transferred fine) I figured I'd go to test and see if my arc was still there.

Sure enough it still was, however only the published version was, I couldnt edit it, and it wasnt in "my local arcs' section anymore, just the "my publish arcs section".

Subject: Super Booster II: Magic Details!

    [*]Mystic Fortune Power:

Ever wanted to have your fortune read in game? With the Mystic Fortune power players will be able to offer to read each other’s fortunes. Having your fortune read gives a power buff based on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, and can give a positive or negative effect on that character for the next 20 minutes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I sure hope the effects of this power are deletable before 20 minutes ... I don't want some terd I don't know, running up to me, using their power, and now i'm debuffed for the next 20 minutes with no way to prevent it/remove it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A buff based off of tarot cards uh? I'm looking forward to this power, it sounds awesome! Can't wait to see the animation for it!

But like BMH just stated here, ya, I hope you can delete the buff/debuff if you dont want it.
  6. Ok, I tired to copy my arc from test to live, but my test folder doesnt have the mission folder, what gives?

So when can we see magic pack screenies I wonder?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /SIGNED!!!!!!!!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously, if we can't have i14 today, can we at least have the magic pack to keep us busy while we wait?
  8. Thanks for the info.

Tho I have to say, I'm really disappointed about the restriction amount on the number of customes critters you can have per arc... 14 just isnt enough...

That piece of information alone just shot down all 3 of my planned arcs...
  9. [ QUOTE ]
My big question is, how many different NPCs can you make?

Am I limited to ten NPCs? Can I make twenty versions of each, so different "Templar Squires" have different faces? Can I make two hundred individual NPCs, so every single minion in the mission has a different look and powerset? (That'd be a fun mission to play, not so much to write). And if the number of NPCs is limited, is it limited across mission arcs or across accounts?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good question, 'cause I've been working on costumes since i14 beta went to close, I have over 75 costumes so far.

  12. [ QUOTE ]

First, it will deflate the population of potential teammates. Want to run that Sewer Trial for the badge, and for the fun of it, because you haven’t run one in forever? Want to run the 2nd respec task force to re-do your character’s slots or powers? Want help taking down Infernal? Well, guess what? Your pool of participants will be reduced by the MA in a real, and not-insignificant way - those potential teammates who could have joined you are working - whoops! I meant to say “writing” - MA arcs and aren’t playing as characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"[/tell] Hey! want to run the sewer trial?"
"[/tell] <ul type="square"> Sorry, working on the MA
    Sorry, working on WW
    Sorry, Base building
    Sorry, at Icon
    Sorry, writing my Bio
    Etc ad nauseum[/list]
Truth is, there is a bunch of things to do in this game already, saying that MA will single handedly cut the player population is exagerated. Sure at first people will flock to it, but that's because it's new. Same thing happened when the Arena was first introduced, or Croatoa, the RWZ, Cimerora, and so on.

It will quiet down eventually just like everything else, and I seriously doubt it will "kill" the existing game content, since the game content offers certain rewards you cant get anywhere else. Such as stuff needed for accolades for example.

    [ QUOTE ]
Second, it is a gimmick completely disconnected from the CoH game lore. Let’s face it, the MA is a stand-alone “feature” in the game that doesn’t develop any of the CoH backstory. It’s a flashy gimmick intended to sell box sets, and grab publicity and attention from the gaming world. In other words, it’s a marketing tool to get more cash into the devs' pockets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So is every other issue they made, as well as booster packs, name changes and purchasable slots and respecs, what's your point?

You seem to be missing out the fact that NCSoft is a company that gets paid for making games. If it doesnt make money, we dont get to play games... It is the same for every other gaming company out there.

Currently, I see the MA as a welcomed addition, that will help smooth over those long empty voids between issues, you know, when you breezed thru the content of the previous issue, and impatiently await the content of the next?

    [ QUOTE ]
Third, the vast majority of “storytelling” will be cringe-worthy. Have you read through the fanfic in the roleplay section of this very forum? No offense to anyone, but it ain’t my cup of tea - I cannot spend more than 90 seconds reading through any of it before I cringe, embarrassed, and click out of it. A lot of my in-game friends cannot spell. A LOT. A lot of my in-game friends have no imagination when it comes to creating an interesting costume (copy-paste the “Enforcer” outfit and change the colors and body size, literally, to a dozen characters). A LOT. A lot of my in-game friends who have actually written character bios have produced only derivative and loopy ones (you have seen that thread in our forum where the person - however mean-spirited it might have been - was copying ridiculous character bios to his website blog, haven’t you?). A LOT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's no way to please everyone. Just cause you think a story or a costume is "cringe worthy" doesnt mean everyone else feels the same way. That's your personnal opinion, and opinions are not note worthy facts in a debate.

And on a side note, players will not like ALL of the content people will write for the MA, but odds are they will find SOME of it that they do like. Again, no way to please everyone, since taste is not something you can plan ahead for.

    [ QUOTE ]
Fourth, the “writing” that will come from the MA is going to be very limited - sure, you can write NPC dialogue, or “begin the mission” dialogue, or “contact dialogue.” But that’s it. If I want to read a great story, I’ll go to Borders and buy a book, not log into City of Frickin’ Heroes! If I want to write, I will launch Microsoft Word and type, not log into City of Frickin’ Heroes! And truth be told, guess how many of my in-game friends RARELY paid any attention to what the actual text was associated with any mission, anyway? A LOT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I missed the part where you were forced into reading or writing anything here.

If you dont want to read anything the player wrote? Fine! Just run into the missions and complete them. Don't want to write anything? Fine! Just build your missions with little to no details and your good to go. Or just dont build any at all and use the MA to run player generated content only.

And until the MA actually comes out, don't go saying we will be restricted to this or we will be restricted to that, since there's no way of knowing what the options are until it's live. Even what is on test right now is subject to change.

    [ QUOTE ]
Fifth, a lot of people won’t bother creating missions, because it will be too much of a chore. Guess how many of my in-game friends don’t go into minute detail with the costume creator? Guess how many of my in-game friends don't use the SG base editor to either create their own base or revise a current base? Guess how many of my friends log into the game just to have fun by blasting or smashing stuff since this is, in fact, a comic-book-based action video game and they want to unwind and need a break from “work” (whether that is a job, studying, or taking care of the kids, etc)? A LOT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, here is how I see you didn't put alot of tought in your post. You yourself mentioned at the beginning of your post you expected a large amount of the player base will be busy playing with the MA, since it will "deflate the population", now your saying not alot of people will bother using it?

Anyhow, Judging the reaction of the entire playerbase solely on the reaction of you and your inner circle is inaccurate. From what I've read here, A LOT of people are looking forward to writing stories, myself included.

And for the record, some people consider reading and writing a fun and relaxing pass time, and not just "smashing stuff".

    [ QUOTE ]
Sixth, it will be filled with the usual horrific bugs and egregious exploits that will necessitate shutting down the MA entirely, and possibly even the game, for extended periods of time for emergency fixes. Merits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, so was everyother issue they ever made. It is to be expected.

I remember WW needing to be brought down due to bugs, some TFs and even holiday events made unavailable due to exploits.

So, are they supposed to stop making new content for the sole reason to avoid making new bugs?

    [ QUOTE ]
    ‘Nuff said.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed.
  13. THose are torches in the middle? Is seeing them thru the glass causing the flame to disappear and resulting in that effect?
  14. We have a tech and magic version of the generators and computers. I'd like to see a sewer like version, since we already have sewer stuff, it would be nice to have something to add to it.

    [u]57 Months[u]

Abiding Badge: 50% discount on all tailor sessions: Start out your new characters in style!

    [/ QUOTE ]

As stated by numerous people (myself included) this vet reward seems a bit cheap. Fifty percent off at the tailor after 57 months, after you've earned numerous free tailoring sessions (not to mention the free ones we get occasionnaly) is pretty lack luster, not to mention near pointless.

Something that is close to this and would be greatly appreaciated, would be a facemaker/icon employee base detail, so we could change costumes in our bases. Or maybe an option to change costumes wherever we are.
  16. The 60 month vet badge is awesome. I've been wondering when they would add something like this. I'm very happy this has been put in and I'm so looking forward to it.

The 57 month badge however, is a major let down. I mean c'mon, 50% off at the tailor? By the time I get that badge, all my toons will already have more free tailor sessions than I'll know what to do with. My main alone has 84 free tailoring sessions...
  17. Ok, I had to look up for this one... I remembered the actors face, but not his name...

Yup, but it's still pretty cool. Especially if you've got a client specifically looking for that kind of look. I mean, it's not much different than what's done here to show off potential costume designs, but using this person's technique, it'd be possible to take a player's in-game avatar and replace their Nemesis Staff with some other cool item of power. I know it might not seem like much but sometimes that's all some people really want.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That... is awesome. I wish I could do half of what we see in that link...

Does your Ouro portal still work inside all that? The only thing I did to my Ouro portal was put it on a Arcane floor pattern and it stopped working.

the Ouro aspect still functions perfectly fine. for me anyways

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Ouro crystal is in a room by itself, and is not connected to anything, and it works perfectly fine now that it is not "meshed" with any other base item.

  22. Would it be possible to extend the winter event? It seems a tad short... I just want to take advantage of it to it's fullest, but with overtime, family and Xmas stuff, 3 weeks doesnt seem like alot.

And I'm so looking forward to the new ski slopes! I'm going to be playing the SSX3 soundtrack in the background just for the heck of it! I just get so stoked when I hear RockStar (Jason Nevins Remix)
