Story: A brilliant quantum physicist working for the reformed Portal Corps, Jack Star was researching alternate dimensions and working ona device that woould allow viewing of alternate realities without acutally entering them. When the Rikti invaded, he was working in his lab, and in the initial assault his lab was destroyed, detonating his experimental device. Star was left in a coma but miraculously survived, his body unharmed. Jack was left in a coma for teh duration of teh invasion, and as he slept his body underwent radical changes. The atoms of his body replicated themselves in multiple quantum states simultaneously, effectively "multiplying" his bodily structure hundreds of times in the same space, the effect mostly centered in his musculature, skeletal structure, and nervous system, giving him vast strength, speed, and resilience. In addition, a "cloud" of subatomic particles formed around his body, creating a destructive force field of energetic fermions. Upon awakening, Star was horrified at the destruction the Rikti had caused, and equally terrified at what had happened to his body.
His first terrified act upon awakening was to demolish the protective bed he had been sleeping in at the hospital. Seeking to control his new powers, Jack underwent months of intensive meditation excersizes, learning that the "field" surrounding him responded to his mental commands, and he learned to control it through force of will. Thus far he was been able to harnes his "fermion cloud" to form a defensive barrier around his body, wrap his hands in destructive globes of energy, and expel energy along his body to facilitate flight. In addition, his cognitive abilities and reflexes apparently extend beyond his body and into the "cloud" increasing both his intelligence, motor coordination, and reaction speed. After learning to control his powers, Jack Star decided to use his newfound abilities to help rebuild his city and aid the weak, taking the name of the Silver Starbolt in the style of the classic silver age comic book superheroes he was so found of as a child.
