Thought I would have a little fun demonstrating this. I've been less than 100% patient during this experiment because I have a schedule to keep. But on my normal marketeers, I have almost infinite patience.

Here we see page 1 (of 4) on Virtue of my Shinobu Valentine 2nd account. As you can see, I've been very busy with my current project and ignoring my characters here -- most have not been logged in in 12 to 16 days. But ALL of my level 50s are marketing toons, so I DO log them in on a semi-regular basis.

So let's see what we have waiting for us. Up first is Sailor Shinobu, an Invul/EM tank.

Wow... I am now the proud possessor of 46 Overwhelming FOrce Acc/Dam/End. On top of however many I already have. I'd completely forgotten that I'd bid on all of this.

What do I want with all of these? Heck if I know. I put these bids in when they were first available for sale on the market (which was apparently 16 days ago). I figured I could buy a bunch cheap, and they might be worth more later. Anyway, I have more money than I know what to do with. As you'll notice I have nearly 2 billion liquid on just Sailor Shinobu despite all of these purchases.

I have several bases on Virtue so I'm sure I can find a place to dump all this stuff, and maybe do something with it someday.

One of my problems is that Sailor Shinobu is a member of a friend's SG, so transferring all of this to base storage will involve running 2 accounts at once or other fun IO juggling. I can't be bothered to mess with it right now.

Next up is Nina Ballerina, an MA/WP scrapper that I like to use for hami raids.

It may look like she hasn't bought nearly as many Overwhelming Force IOs... but that would be because I've logged her in at least twice in the last 16 days and transferred a bunch of them to base storage in my Guardians of Oz base. She's parked right next to the base portal in Dark Astoria at the moment.

This was on Miss Shinobu, I believe. Only two purchases, but this is the Knockback/Knockdown IO. I spent 151 million per IO, but I'm fairly certain these things will only become more expensive. I think these are fairly low level ones too.

Sparks Fly has bought Overwhelming Force IOs too. I placed a ton of bids on a bunch of characters, simply because I could. I'll probably get sick of having so many of these things.

Really, I had wanted to show how I buy and flip ATOs here... I'd forgotten that half of my marketing toons on this account were bidding on these Overwhelming Force things. But I guess it does demonstrate the virtues of patient bidding.

As you can see here, with Shinobu Valentine (Illusion/Rad troller) I placed a ton of lowball bids on the Knockdown/Knockback IOs... on a huge spread of levels from 30 on down.

I only bought two -- well, three total, I have another in my tray already -- but you can't beat buying a low level one of these for so cheap. And we're probably already past the point where I'll buy any more, but still, score!

Okay, here I can show something different! Bubble Girl Six (FF fender) has been parked in Cimemora for probably half a year now. I don't really play this character. I've been logging in to check on her every week or two, and nothing had ever changed. As you can see, she only had 45 million influence on her until something sold. The problem was, I'd placed a bunch of tanker and corruptor ATOs up for sale at what I considered a decent profit, and nothing was selling. Corruptors weren't popular enough, apparently.

Then water blast comes along, and guess what? Corruptor ATOs are selling really well now. My patience finally pays off! In fact, I probably wish I'd listed them for more money.

Here is what Bubble Girl has for sale. Those Mako's will probably never sell. The Tanker ATOs will sell, eventually. But you know what? Who cares? I have more than 30 marketing toons, I can afford to let stuff sit there forever if I want to.

Yay, more Overwhelming Force than I can ever use! Plus some Numina heal/recharge to craft and put in my base. This is on Megami Hime, my TW/WP brute.

Ice Girl Eight has sold a bunch of the Malice of the Corruptor ATOs too.

...and... bought more Overwhelming Forces. Yay. Well, I had to do something with the money...

Note that I have 10 corruptor ATO dam/end/rech bought for 6.7 million influence each. That was a while ago, I think. There were only 8 of these for sale before I listed these 10.

I bought all 10 of these for 67 million influence.. I should make 400 to 500 million influence by selling them.

Finally, let's check in on one of my non-Virtue toons. I have several 50's on other servers -- 2 on Exalted, 1 on Victory, 1 on Justice, 1 on Union, and 2 on Freedom (counting both of my accounts here). Jalia is on Freedom -- an MA/WP scrapper just like Nina Ballerina and Tiffany Blackheart. No, I don't know why I have 3 of them.

As you can see, it's been a long while since I visited this character. 40 days. Well, I don't visit my non-Virtue marketing toons that often, but anyway... no chance I've bought a bunch of Overwhelming Forces here, I guess.

As it turns out, in 40 days Jalia has sold 2 Dominator ATOs. But I have a bunch for sale, as you can see. This is the same situation as I was in with Bubble Girl Six... Dom ATOs are just not in high demand right now. They were a few months back after Darkness Control came out, but not now.

I'm also trying to sell scrapper ATOs for over 100 million. Early on I was convinced that Scrapper ATOs would eventually sell for a lot of money. I was wrong. Brute ATOs, on the other hand, have often sold for 100-150 million. I have several characters with Scrapper ATOs price for sale much higher than they have ever sold forthough.

But I'll let all of this sit, they'll sell someday.

So... you see how I make my money. Buy low in bulk, sell over a long period of time.
  2. Day 26 -- July 26, 2012

Last night, since I wasn't able to buy any purple recipes instantly, I decided to place some lowball overnight bids. And since I was planning that, why not bid on the two Ragnarok recipes that I need to finish my build?

    Guess what? Both bids filled.

    My build is fully purchased!

I started out running vigilante tips, but my friend Freaky was running another shard/exp ITF. Experience over tips! I headed to Cimemora and joined up. This got me to level 47 almost instanty -- I had my Glad Armor +3% defense and my 3 Hami-O Cytos on me so I slotted them right away. (At the moment, lacking a Scorpion Shield, I have Frozen Armor as a substitute). With these slotted I'm at over 47% smashing/lethal defense.

No purples dropped for me during this ITF or the one last night -- but I had placed a bid on an Absolute Amazement recipe in the meantime, and it filled during the ITF.

In fact, another sold after mine for 22 million less. >.<

I had two converters from drops. I used both and got a nice Apocalypse, which I immediately put up for sale. Nothing else has sold for me, not even my LotG level 25 7.5% recharge. But I expect things will sell by the weekend.

I finished my tips, but have not yet run the morality mission as per my plan. Right now I have no hero merits and 194 regular merits (since I haven't been converting them). I am level 48, almost halfway to 49.

Made two more never-to-be-played (probably) characters: Telsa Turing, and Hoagy Roll.

Tesla because it seems like a good name (from Nikolai Tesla of course). Turing because, I don't know, Alan Turing. Has no real connection to the character though, unless I decide to give her a bio that states she's an artificial intellgence indistinguishable from a living person.

Tess LaCoil and other not-as-clever-as-I-thunk variations were already taken, of course.

(Costume is 100% borrowed from this thread.)

and Hoagy Roll because we are having a potluck at work tomorrow with barbeque pulled pork sandwiches, and I was asked to bring hoagy rolls. And it seemed like a funny name to use.

At any given time, there are dozens of things the community is absolutely dying for. Golden/Silver Age outfits are ONE of those things. I wouldn't mind a golden/silver aged tights/costume pack, but good gravy, they've released a ton of awesome costumes over the last year, and a good portion of it was in direct response to the community. YOU do not speak for the entire community, no matter who you are or what you're fighting for.

You know what one of the first comics I collected was? Grimjack. That was an awesome comic. Grimjack didn't wear spandex... ever. Wanting to play a character like Grimjack is not going against the core values of the game, or losing sight of the big picture, or however people want to frame it to basically say "my view is more important than yours".

But again, I wouldn't mind seeing better tights options, I agree that the old untextured versions really don't look good.
  4. Day 25 -- July 25, 2012

My Armageddon sold. I had this listed for 301 million, and it sold for 325. Not bad. I could have hoped for even better, some have sold recently for 350 or even 400 million, but the important thing is that it sold within 24 hours, and it sold for more than 300 million, so I got what I wanted.

I also got nearly everything else that I wanted -- my last Call to Arms, my last Thunderstrike, and some Malice of the Corruptor dam/rech to sell. I bought 4 of these in all. I had bids on two other corr ATOs, but those bids failed to nab me anything. Hopefully these will sell for good money by the weekend -- I think there are still a lot of water blast corrs about.

I also insta-bought the Positron's Blast proc, a level 34 for 5.1 million influence. Since I had virtually every IO needed for my build, I spent my two remaining a-merits on a level 25 Luck of the Gambler +7.5% global recharge recipe, which I crafted and listed for sale. These things still sell for over 100 million, so that's an okay way to make a little more money.

Tonight the thing that I'd been looking for finally happened -- a friend wanted to run a shard/exp ITF, and I wasn't busy doing something else already! I joined up and used the second and last of my two xp boosters, and I wound up with just about what I was hoping for -- 1 1/2 levels of experience, even a bit more than that.

I ran vigilante tips after that, but paused to join another friend's Manticore. It's the WST! That got me to level 46 and nearly to level 47 -- only about 2.5 bubbles away.

Last but not least, I have only a few days left to fill in my remaining character slots. I decided to be a bit stupid and bought a few points so that I could buy a few more costume pieces. I present to you, he's clearly not another catgirl, the amazing Moo Vestment
  5. It's a nice set with 6.25% global recharge, basically. I forget what else, but nice set bonuses overall.

There are a *lot* of ranged damage sets, but only a few that I really like when you get right down to it. Decimation is one of the best of them.
  6. This morning my bid for a Cytoskeleton at 251 million filled. I cancelled the bid for the Synthetic version, which was also 251 million -- I can use that money for something else now. I didn't have time to muck about with purple recipes, so I just placed some bids for Corruptor ATOs and left it at that. My purple IO from last night hasn't sold yet.

I also decided to buy the elusive Overwhelming Force quad last night, so I don't have to worry about that anymore.

So here's what's left to complete my project:

    - Call to Arms end/dam/rech
    - Thunderstrike acc/dam/rech
    - Ragnarok damage
    - Ragnarok damage/endurance
    - Positron's Blast proc

    - Hit level 50. I'm 44, so 6 levels to go. I can slot the Cytos and Glad Armor at 47 though.
    - Turn villain and run patron's arc. Starting on this tonight.

Technically I wasn't including the Ragnarok set in my goals to finish by the 31st, since I wasn't sure if I could manage that. But it's easily within reach now.

One thing I need to remember -- I have a bunch of IOs for my build in base storage. I need to make sure I don't leave them there when I turn villain, or I won't have access to them for a while. If there's more than ten, I'll have to e-mail some of them to myself in the meantime. ^_^

To be honest, I've been feeling the "awesome" in my "zero to awesome" for a while now. I have very good recharge -- about 80% global recharge now I think? Enough that dominate is pretty much always up when I'm in motion. I have about 24% smashing/lethal defense most of the time, I don't have any endurance issues (at times I go through entire fights with fly on, forgetting to turn it off or switch to hover), I have superior damage and can lock down or confuse a mob set for 8 long enough to destroy it -- unless something goes wrong. Occassionally I've tested this on task forces by wandering off on my own. As a Dom, I have to plan my attack instead of just rushing in, but if I can confuse at least half the mob, the rest is really easy.

On the Citadel the other night I followed one water blaster down a different tunnel from the rest of the team, and we wound up in a big fight where the blaster died quickly. He yelled at me to run -- but I had carrion creepers out, and my AoE hold was up, and Seeds of Confusion was up. I cleaned up the mess before anyone else on the team could find us. The blaster was impressed. ^_^
  7. I was waiting for an update. ^_^ Wasn't sure if I was supposed to say anything or not.

  10. Ran my 5 tips and the morality mission... my last hero morality mission for a while. Tomorrow night I'll be running vigilante tips.

I have 2 hero merits at the moment.

This left me still nearly 2 bubbles shy of level 44. I started hunting in PI and looking for a team to join, and then I realized that I could just join a DfB. So I did, and that did the trick, just barely.

And strangely enough the leader of the DfB was level 44. Makes me wonder how many people run it at 40+.

I was only able to buy one purple recipe for 150 million or less, although I have enough money to buy two.

It took me a while to craft it because I needed a Rikti Alloy and they were going for 7 million each with only 46 left for sale. I left a bid up for more than 20 minutes while I read in the living room. I ran a friend's AE farm, set for only +1 mind you, and that only earned me a couple of hundred tickets -- I'd forgotten how many it took to buy a piece of rare salvage, 540 tickets. Bleah. So I finally caved and spent 7 million for 1 piece of salvage. I wanted to get to bed, after all.

It only took one conversion to get a nice Armageddon. This time I listed it high since I'm expecting to leave it overnight and all next day at the very least, and I thought I could get a good price on this one, and also because I was annoyed at spending 7 mil on a Rikti Alloy.
  11. Had fun last night. ^_^ Although I was afraid I messed something up when I used my att to summon the one guy who had hospital'd... one thing that kind of annoys me, you wait and wait to see if anyone is gonna teleport him back to the team, he tries to make a run for it without stealth and starts taking damage, I att him and I'm immediately told "No! I have recall friend!" Well, why don't you use it then?

But it wasn't that big a deal apparently. One of those situations where, since I don't know the Strike Force really well, I wasn't sure what people were doing at that precise moment. Anyway it's really chaotic and I can understand that my friend was probably busy keeping people alive, and the other guy probably thought hitting the hospital was better than waiting... but usually waiting is a good idea in that kind of situation.

But I probably should have asked someone to teleport him instead of assuming.

    Much chaos, much fun though!
  12. Day 24 - July 24, 2012

Sold 2 things overnight -- a controller ATO and the Armageddon, giving me about 380 million to play with (not counting the roughly 500 million I currently have tied up in bidding on another Cyto/Synthetic Cyto). That's enough to buy two new recipes!

Which I was able to do, as you can see.

Three conversions netted me two Ragnaroks -- including one that I didn't have yet for my build. I kept the rech/accuracy and put the triple up for sale.

You might notice a pattern over the last 3 days:

    1. Buy 2 purple recipes.
    2. Craft and convert them.
    3. One is a Ragnarok for my build, which I keep.
    4. Sell the other recipe for enough money to repeat the process.

You might say I've acquired 3 of the 5 pieces of my Ragnarok purple IO set needed for my build... nearly for free.

    I ain't complaining.

Since I have market slots free, I decided to buy a few of the remaining IOs that I need. that includes a Call to Arms end/dam/rech, which I am now bidding for, and a full set of Thunderstrike. I was able to insta-buy 4 piece of the set for pretty cheap, and I've placed bids on the other 2 I need. It's an uncommon set, pretty easy to come by, but a nice set all the same.

Ran another Summer Event. I got an Overwhelming Force Accuracy/Damage. So far on Dilithium Flower I've gotten:

    2 Accuracy/Damage
    1 Accuracy/Damage/Recharge
1 Damage/Chance for Knockdown/Knockback to Knockdown (on my very first run)
    4 Damage/Endurance/Recharge
    3 Endurance/Recharge

11 runs without a quad. I may have to just buy it.

    ------------

I bought a Luck of the Gambler defense recipe and crafted it. I think that's the last of those that I'll need for my build.

So I left bids up for two level 30 thunderstrike recipes -- acc/dam/end and acc/dam/rech -- and immediately joined a Citadel task force. It's merits, it's experience, that's all I want right now. It's not the fastest Citadel ever, but we finish in an hour and a half and I make nearly a full level, just a couple of bubbles from 44. Also during the task force my Ragnarok has sold.

But first, I stop at the store to sell off all my extra junk. And I notice that I have a level 30 Thunderstrike on me, along with all the salvage needed to craft it. What? I forgot to craft one of the four I bought? Better be careful and not sell it by accident!

That was what I thought at first, but then... I realized it was an acc/dam/end.

How often do you get exactly the thing you're bidding for as a random drop? Same level, even the salvage to craft it instantly!

So I crafted that, and now I'm only bidding on the acc/dam/rech, along with the Cyto and the Call to Arms.

Because I want stuff to sell fast I'm not listing quite as high as I probably should. I listed my Ragnarok for 266 million I think. Some were selling for 300 mil, but mine sold for 275.

Well, that's okay. Let's see if I can buy something else.

Apparently I can! And it only takes me 1 conversion to get a nice Hectacomb!

I listed this for 246 million, seeing that several had gone for 250 million recently (and there were 25 for sale). I got an instant sale for 250 million. Hmm... maybe I should have listed just above that then.

But instant profit of 80+ million is nothing to sneeze at.

Right at the moment I'm unable to find any more purple recipes for sale for 150 million or less, so I leave up a couple of bids and log off for a bit. Still need to run my tips for the evening, and I intend to hit level 44 too.

Another note: I have a bunch of Tanker ATOs... six or seven in my base, and three for sale... and the price on those has collapsed at the moment. The one that I have 6 of has over 100 for sale and is currently selling for as little as 9 million, less than I paid for mine I'm pretty sure. I know the price on these will eventually rebound -- probably some time after Bio Armor comes out -- but right now I can't sell the ones I have.

In fact, right now is probably a good time to be buying up Scrapper/Brute and maybe Tanker ATOs. Because when Bio Armor hits, the price of all of those will likely go up.

I hadn't even realized that, and yeah, well worth the money. (In point of fact -- I completely forgot to buy anything with a-merits last night at all, which I realized this morning. Too late to do anything about it, if I bought something this morning then I'd have to wait until the next morning to buy something else, or at least log in at 2AM. But the plan is to have no a-merits when I go vigilante, so I'm not helping myself here.)

Also I just checked... you're limited to 1 purchase via a-merits a day, even of converters. Not a problem with my normal marketeers, but on Dilithium Flower I've been making recipe purchases virtually every day.

  14. So a bit later at night I had something else sell... another ATO.

And I tried again to buy a couple of purple recipes for cheap, and this time I found two for sale:

My conversion attempts yielded a Ragnarok triple immediately, and after a couple of weak attempts, I got an Armageddon dam/rech, which I listed for sale.

The Ragnarok I placed in my base. After all, I'm trying to make money so I can afford a Ragnarok set... but if I can get it by converting a few 150 million influence IOs, so much the better!

Afterwards I switched to AE Baby to run a Mortimer Kal TF with Goat and Aurora Girl and a few other people. Much fun Slightly chaotic at times but I kind of like it that way.

Then switched back and even though it was late, I ran my five tips. No Summer event though, didn't have time after all that TF'ing.
  15. Da6 23 - July 23, 2012

Early this morning I logged in to find that I'd sold a couple of things -- one of my purple IOs from last night, the Armageddon, and a scrapper ATO.

I forget what I listed the Armageddon for, something like 261 or 277 million.

I only had a few minutes before I had to get ready for work, but that was enough to purchase two more purple recipes to convert.

I had 1 free converter on hand. I wound up spending 50 merits buying five more, before I got what I wanted: An Armageddon, and a Ragnarok.

I probably should have kept the Ragnarok for my build, but I was in a hurry. Hindsight is 20/20. Anyway, by evening I had sold 3 purples. The Hectacomb had been listed for 249 million, the others were 262 million I believe.

My bid for a Glad Armor 3% defense IO had also filled.

This leaves me with one Cytoskeleton to purchase, and five pieces of Ragnarok. That will pretty much complete my build, I think. And, as you can see, I have a billion influence left to do that with. A billion won't buy 1 Cyto and 5 Ragnaroks, but it's a really good start.

I was only able to insta-purchase one purple recipe for 150 million this time.

A single conversion (I had two free ones) got me another Ragnarok. And this time, I decided to save it for my build.

At the moment I have bids in for a Cyto and a Synthetic Cyto, whichever I manage to buy first is good. I'm bidding a bit more than I did on Saturday since the price probably won't drop until the weekend again. We'll see. Also bidding on some purple recipes in the hopes of snagging one for less than 150 million.

What I did tonight: Ran a Penelope Yin Task Force, which unfortunately was "taken over". We had four people from the global channel I'm on, but had to open up to LFG to fill it out. Some of the LFG people decided without asking that we were doing a speed run, and so we skipped a bunch of potential experience that those that formed the TF really hadn't planned to skip.

After that we ran a Hess Task Force -- I got to make use of the fact that I have Hess as a contact, finally! We refused to look outside our own circle for anyone else, and thus we wound up running with only five people plus one filler who was afk for the entire TF eating dinner, but joined so that we could start and came back just barely in time to grab a free badge and merits. We'd made certain up front that people knew we weren't doing a speed run and we mostly killed our way to objectives, but decided as a group to stealth to the boss on the final mission.

As soon as we'd finished, someone in one of my global channels was starting up a Moonfire. I joined, along with some other friends. Again, this turned out to be an unannounced speed run, which I don't mind so much on a Moonfire but I think it annoyed my other friends. But at least it was the leader making that decision this time. Still, it's better to say up front what you plan to do. I enjoy speed runs when I know that's what we're doing, but to not warn people is bad form and even worse, to decide it on your own when you're not the team leader... that's rude.

I got to 43, and I earned a bunch of merits.

Lord knows I should be trying to level Dilithium Flower, but I have a few redside characters who can run this -- I know AE Baby has the contact as I've been in charge of Mortimer Kal teams a couple of times (which does not make me an expert on the strike force mind you, I've run it 3-4 times before total). @shinobu or @dark shinobu if I'm online (I usually am at that time). Or possibly @shinobu valentine.
  17. Hopkins is by far the least threatening AV in the game. Unless you count the hellion AV in DfB.

I like to call him "Suit Guy".

But that doesn't mean Vandal, for example, terrifies anyone either.
  18. I get your point... Manticore is nothing to write home about. But what I love about TFs is bringing a team together for a series of missions with an end goal in mind, and you're not having people leave after every mission and having to reform the team. It has a very different feel from any normal string of missions in that respect.

Plus, you get a badge and merits. Most people I know run TFs for those reasons. And a good team can zip through Manticore in 40 minutes. 34 merits in 40 minutes, well worth your time.

    But yeah... interesting it's not.

  19. By afternoon/evening, my Armageddon (listed for 261 million) had sold for 300 million. The Apocalypse proc, listed for 250 million even, sold for 255,555,555.

Which actually gave me most of a billion influence to play with... what you can't see from these screenshots is that I had a bid out for an Absolute Amazement at 121 million, and a bit for a third Cytoskeleton at 221 million.

So! Next verse, same as the first! I hope, at least.

By this point I was back up to 97 merits -- I'd spent time gathering all of the explore badges in Praetoria proper (6 zones, 30 merits) and I'd run a blueside Cathedral of Pain... I forget how many merits that is, it's 21 if you go for just the merits but I went for the buff and badge.

I still had my 1 converter from my Freakshow Wars run this morning, so I was all set to try some more conversions... hopefully ones that didn't waste as many converters as last time.

Bought two recipes easily enough! Crafted them, and it was time to try converting them!

Oh yeah! Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Only 2 conversions to get two damage IOs!

I have these up for sale at the moment. ^_^

Only other thing I did this afternoon was work on my base a bit. I was at nearly 150 thousand prestige by this point. I'm trying to design a more interesting entrance, and while I was at it I got rid of my oversight center (never actually used it for anything) and installed a real energy room and control room, and a mainframe. To do this I had to buy a little more prestige... only spent 30 million though. I don't have the power supply though, that costs 200,000 prestige, so it will be a while before I can install that.

    -------------------

Ran 5 tips + morality mission. Bought a Luck of the Gambler Defense IO. I need just one more for my build.

My two purples haven't sold yet. I pulled down my Cytoskeleton bid and put in a bid for a Glad Armor 3% defense IO instead. Those are the two things I need to buy for my build, outside of the purple set that I theoretically want to add.

Ran with a Tina McIntyre mission team and got to 42. I was really hoping to get higher this weekend, but oh well. As I recall, when I did this last August there was a DXP weekend to boost my leveling quite a bit. This time around, I may not be hitting 50 until the very end of the month. But also, I seem to level slower -- the little patrol experience boosters and other experience boosters that I always have on my main account really do help.

Honestly I feel the merit reward prices for recipes needs to drop like 30% all around.
Merits are very useful for Rogues and Vigilantes, and I assume for non-VIPs who can use recipes as well. And I use them all the time -- to convert into alignment merits, I'll admit. But hey, there are lots more ways to earn merits than alignment merits.

But yeah, stuff is pretty expensive if you're trying to buy them with straight merits.
  21. Day 22 - July 22, 2012

I started out this morning by running a Summer event -- hadn't done one last night. I queue'd up and ran around Talos killing grey mobs, trying to get a converter to drop. Eventually the event started -- we had me, two trollers (illusion and dark), and a thugs MM. LOTS of pets, LOTS of damage, LOTs of holds and confused mobs! Not so good for the badges where you have to kill two enemies at the same time or avoid killing the EBs however, but we pretty much plowed through everything. Although it was funny to see Gang War come out and stand around doing nothing... the AV was constantly held, so never attacked anyone and the gang therefore did not attack either.

I wound up with an Overwhelming Force dam/end, I think it was. My quest for the quad continues.

I spent more time killing grey mobs, but nothing dropped. Then I saw someone forming a Citadel, so I joined that 40 merits, and I hit level 41.

After this I decided to try some purple conversion marketing Goat-style -- that is, see what purple recipes I could buy instantly for 150 million.

An Unbreakable Constraint hold, as it turned out.

I had a converter on me (dropped during Citadel), but I had to buy a second one to get something I liked.

Listed for 261 million, sold instantly for 275 million.

Hey! That was easy and fast! Let's see if I can do that again!

I managed to instant-purchase two Gravitational Anchor recipes.

Here's where things got a bit bogged down. I didn't want to spend all my merits on converters, so I spent a considerable amount of time killing grey mobs in and around Talos, trying to get a converter to drop. No dice. Finally I decided that, what the heck, if I make money it's worth the cost of a few merits. I had 89 merits on me at the time.

As you can see, it took five conversions to get something I liked on the first IO. Bleah, 50 merits gone. Luckily, the second IO took only 1 conversion, so my average was 3 conversions to a damage set IO. That seems about right, in retrospect.

And I can always earn more merits, and experience at the same time. Better than running around killing grey mobs I suppose. I promptly went to Ouro and started a Freakshow Wars run, to earn back some of my merits.

First mission, first room, first mob, I see this...

Okay, I'm happy to have it of course, but it's like the game is taunting me....

Not only that, but I haven't actually done a lot of TFs in the past two weeks. >.> The biggest difference, I think, is that I probably couldn't use LFG to join a Summer event on a lot of servers. Other than that, I'm sure I'd be just fine. ^_^
  23. What Stargeek said (about the necro'd post too... silly necropost picture in 3... 2...)

I ran Sutter a couple of nights ago, and there was a lot of in-channel whining about how much people hated the task force before we started. And... I like the task force, and it went well. Afterwards someone asked why people hated it so much, and the conclusion was that it's a perfectly fine task force with a good team, but can become a nightmare with... well, let's say a team that is less prepared. Our team had a lot of vet players that I play with all the time, many of them have IO'd builds with a lot of defense and who put out a lot of damage, I was on my dom so we had holds, etc. etc. In the absence of some of that, you can use inspirations to compensate.

One run I was on, there was a taunter who taunted Praetorian Duray under the bridge to pull the air strikes away from the team. But most of the other times I've run this, the team just jumped Primal Duray first and killed him through a combination of enough defense to survive/ignore the air strikes, and enough firepower to kill him quickly. If you can hold him, good, but if you have a lot of ranged damage then the teleporting isn't as big of a problem.
  24. Heh, I make more catgirls than I actually play. I only have Mouse Police and Squiddy Kitty at 50, and rarely play them.

Athough actually that's a part of the problem... for some of these I'm just looking for a saved character costume that contains nothing I don't have access to on my rather basic newly-VIP account.

I have a lot of Mouse Police costumes saved that use older costume pieces.

And the sad part is... I suggested another character name yesterday, but it would have to be a catgirl, and you're right, I've made a lot already. But how's this for a catgirl plant dom: Herbal Hairball. >.>

Also... made a couple more sales.

    ------

Another update: I didn't take a picture of this because... I forgot. Also I'm at a friend's place and doing this on my laptop. But I placed a bid for two Cytoskeletons today at 221 million each. The weekend is when you usually have hami raids, so I've found that's normally your best chance to get hami-O's at a good price. Anyway... bought both by evening. ^_^

And seriously, for level 50 VIPs the new DA is one of their best revamps ever.
