Not only does it make chit chat easier..but I've actually had lengthy convo's about RL issues while remaining IC. You just have to pick the right people to do this with. Some people RP using strictly in game lore, others don't. It all comes down to what you like and what others like. I think the overall point everyone here is trying to make is that just because you don't agree with another person's RP or whatever, that doesn't give you the right to be a dick about it.

Buuuut.. sadly..this wil always happen. There's nothing that can be done to stop people from being ******** and *******. The best that can be done is just suck it up and move on. Grow thicker skin and stop letting what others say bother you. Especially since its usually people you don't even know. Yeah.. I know, I've heard it before "I /do/ know alot of these people..I play the game with them everyday." /That/ does NOT mean that you know them.

You can talk OOC with someone online everyday..about all sorts of things..doesn't mean ****. Until you've spent time face to face with a person, you don't /really/ know them. So just brush the trolls off and go have fun with the game we all love to play.

As far as Brand-X's comment goes. I didn't mention anything major like that.. I was IC talking about a /movie/. I do see your point though..and agree with you completely. I also agree with Bright Shadow...just because you don't agree with or like something someone else does in the game..whether its RP.. or just how they play, what good does it do to call them out publicly for it?

I also have started avoiding the D as of late, yeah I pop in on occassion, but not like I used to. Mainly because..lets face it, you'll come across idiots no matter where you go, but if you go to the D its the samething as if you had entered a idiot training camp.

I realize my following statement is a bit late, but I feel a unwavering need to say it anyway. I've seen quite a few posts in this thread and others, mentioning how Paragon Studios is making a mistake with the booster packs, or how the addition of the tail isn't enough to sell the pack. The addition of the tail for one..isn't about trying to get more people to buy the pack, its just the way they chose to get it into the game.

Not saying I agree with their decision, because I don't. I think the tail should definitely be a freebie for everyone, but its not..so **** it. As far as the ."oh they're failing, noone will buy the pack." yada yada...Someone will but the thing..I know I'm going to.. I've bought everyone.. including the wedding pack. Guess what....if they show it to 5 people and at least 3 buy it..they're happy.Those other two people..well.. maybe next time. if not.. not really a big deal. All I'm saying is not everybooster pack will be something everyone likes, it happens..and honestly.. no one cares. Read above statement involving 5 people.

Wow..hey ya know... the other day I was playing CoH and my 3 kids came up and asked me if I'd make lunch early because they were hungry..GOSH.. how /rude and annoying/..for them to interrupt my game or my rp to ask a simple question due to a interest of theirs. Sorry.. everyone else was making these completely /stupid/ references to RL scenarios..I thought maybe it was required in order to post in the thread.

Look people..it a MMO..which by definition alone..means other people play this game. Which means at least occassionaly you're gonna need to be willing talk to someone at times when you'd rather not. That is assuming the problem is..getting tells while in a mission or while your RP'ing..in which case..HEY..GO ON HIDE..works when I do it.

As far as people inviting themselves to /your/ team. Last I checked..this was a immpossible act. One cannot "invite themselves" to a team, if they could then there would be no need to /ask to join/ they'd simply go, "hey. I'mma join /that/ one" and boom..there they are. Asking to enter a building is /different/ than just walking in. Grow some thicker skin please and thank you

hmm. not saying your wrong..its just I've never seen ANY toon .. hero or villian have ANY effect upon landing.. other than maybe bouncing and/or dying upon impact.. no matter how high the drop is from.

Not to get off topic here,but as I was reading the thread I kept seeing "OOC" being used, and it reminded me of something. The other night my character Shock N Awe and a friend's character were discussing one of the newest movies they had both seen. I mentioned the Crazies, since I literally had just watched it online before logging into to CoH. Now we were both IC talking about this, which should've been obivous seeing as how my friend mentioned using a flame power on a chatterbox kid as a lil prank to shut him up during the movie.

Then I get this random-*** tell /telling/...not asking... me to take our OOC convo elsewhere because I was ruining someone's immersion in the game. When I told them we were being IC..they actually said "bull****", that is a RL movie and doesn't exist ingame..take it somewhere else." Now. what kind of rude-*** **** is that? Acting like this doesn't help anything, or improve the game for anyone..and before anyone says.. "oh maybe the person was just having a bad day." Guess what...I don't really care what kind of day a stranger is having..no need to be rude to people you don't know. Badday rudeness is reserved for family,friends, and co-workers...and its better off that way because they will /hopefully/ forgive you.

Sorry for the random vent..just wanted to put that out there. I'll try to keep my rants to myself in the future:P

Lmao..but um.. for someone that admits to avoiding Pocket D for the same reasons the OP stated...isn't that pretty much saying you think he's right? So why not just say..he's right instead of... "As for whether or not the OP is "right or wrong", I don't know."? Just wondering, not tryng to start anything.

For the record, the OP has a point. Pocket D tends to be full of cliques...and these cliques can at times be quite rude to "outside" people. Then there are the times I've seen someone ask a question in broadcast and get slammed with rude and insulting commments. Now I'm not saying it happens all the time, but it does happen often enough to be noticeable.

Of course.. then there are those people who actually get mad at others for speaking OOC in the D...deny it all day..but I've seen it happen. These people tend to be quite rude. Lets not even bring up the rude and sometimes insulting comments I've seen in the forums. My point is this...most of the Virtue community can be quite nice most of the time...but on occassion it can also be full of ******** and *******. Getting defensive and calling the OP stupid, or saying other rude comments simply because you don't see what he's talking about, are part of what he's talking about, or just don't care...well that only adds fuel to the fire and further proves him right about Virtue.

I fully understand the idea of the internet being a place were alot of people go /just/ because they can be rude,insulting, whatever without consequences, but must /we/ do so? Ok.. so the guy ran into a few ********/*******..I know I have..tell the guy to suck it up and move on, but is there really a need to insult em, or tell him he's wrong? Especially since he's right about everything he said.

Again..at least once a week I hold a CC in Pocket D. Each one having a different theme. Granted I announce the CC only a hour prior, but still...it happens. So far I've given away over 500 mill in prizes, along with the random recipe or salvage. Usually my prize for 1st place is never less than 100 million infl.

God modding is a term that gets thrown around waaaaay toooo much. There is /NO/ concrete definition of what is and/or is not god modding. Its pretty much a matter of opinion. I've noticed that for the most part.. if two pple are rp'ing and one of them does something the other person doesn't agree with or didn't plan on happening.. someone shouts GODMOD.. or METAGAMER...

To me.. this is ********. In /my/ opinion.. if your one of these people who has a character that just can't get hit, or if they do get hit. nothing can hurt em... to me.. /thats/ metagaming..or godmodding. For a healer to heal someone.. OMG.. imagine that.. they do what THEY'RE MEANT TO DO!!! LMAO. To me.. thats just someone that didn't let people know what the jist of the RP was and then got upset when it didn't go the way they had planned it out in their head.

I've held quite a few CC's in the D over the past month or so. Usually while on my character...NovaPrime. The last one I held was like last week I think, and 1st place won 100mill. influence. An' my CC's are open to heroes /and/ villians.

An' before anyone says anything about it...even if a villian wins I can still email the influence to them. They just have to get on a hero to claim it. Anyway..... I try to hold a CC of varying themes in the D at least once a week, and yes.. its during your normal play times. Yes I /always/ hold mine Pocket D.

Ya, know.. I've never understood why so many people have a problem going along with the medport aspect in the game.. when it comes to RP. Last night I had someone tell me that its just too unrealistic. *jawdrop* Seriously??? Being tp'd to the hospital all auto-like is too fake, but the 7 foot FUTA/DEMON/WOLF catgirl stalking around in the D.... thats perfectly feasible?

I'm not trying to come down or anyone or troll....nothing lke that. I'm just speaking my mind after hearing yet another person mention something about the medcom issue. I understand if you /want/ you're character to be hurt and take time to heal...I've done it.. the way i did it was I let my guy die..getted tp'd to the hosp..and then logged off. Even got a day job badge out of the time it took him to healup enough to leave the hospital.

I just spent the last 30 mins. reading this thread from like page 10 to the final, and the only thing I learned was that there are definitely ALOT of whiney lil ******* that play this game. First... if you feel the need to RP a action upon another character, why don't you just send them a damn tell saying "hey, my char. is about to attack your char. in suchnsuch manner. Get ready or tell me no." BOOM... whole problem solved

As for the (()) issue... who really cares? Thats like me complaining about how a person clicks their tongue every other word when talking. Its just something they do... it DOES NOT hurt me so why should I worry about it. A few of you should really stop trying to control the environment your in and start learning to adapt to another's playstyle. Either that or stick to single player games.

Now for the dreaded subject of ERP.. again.. who cares... some people do it, some people don't. Some people find it fun.. some people find it stupid, or even digusting. Again.. who cares.. again stop trying to control and learn to adapt. If you don't want to do something.. DONT DO IT. But NO ONE has the right to judge another person based on how they enjoy their playtime in CoX. I've started 2 sgs and 1 vg on virtue now, and while all 3 are light to medium rp I can honestly say we haven't had any of these problems. and yes all 3 are still up and running, though I recently turned one over to a friend in order to concentrate on the other 2. I encourage members to bring their own personal char.'s story into the group and that we are always willing to be a part of their story if they wish. So far this has worked well for me and the members of my sgs/vg. On the other hand I've noticed things rpwise seemed to have turned as a whole. Not many people do the heavy rp anymore as a whole. What I mean is, most heavy rp now seems to be kept in small groups, not involving entire sgs/vgs. Of course I've always preferred light to meduim rp since all the heavy rp that /I've/ seen take place is pretty much all the same. "ooh.. feel sorry for me, I've lost everything, my life sucks. oooh.." "Wait.. now its better..damn.. now life sucks again." That kinda **** gets old VERY fast.
