Rad/sonic trio.. nice.
I´m currently trippleboxing (one is running in a passive window, so only 2 are fully active synchronized, 1 is set on autofire) 2 rad/sonics and 1 FF/sonic. At 22 I wasn´t even looking to put down RI since I was on the softcap for defense with the bubbler and 1 additional maneuver running.
The problem I see when combining Sonic and Chocking cloud (just to make it clear: I LOVE CC....on other combinations) is the absolut loss of AOE. It can be very frustrating in the end to pew pew every mob down. Yes you would get enough survivability from this, but for me, the cost would be to high. If I would go for a pbaoe centric approach I would take Ice blast.
My approach with my team is: gather mobs with double EF on boss at softcap, throw in a heal if needed, then LR and howl howl howl howl. = funnyWith the amount of mitigation and damagemultipliers you get with 3 rad/sonics, the enemies would melt down very fast anyhow. After getting the Dark epic, I would just run in, Stun everything, Soul drain, LR to keep them together get at distance and howl howl howl
With my setup I managed to kill Babbage with level 22 (the whole TF was a joke with that setup). Endurance was no issue (factoring in that AM was not fully slotted for End, but had stamina: 3 AMs are better than 2 AMs and stamina).
If I were you, I would run 2 rad/sonics and 1 cold/ice (defense for the first 2 for alphas, much + recharge from the first two, AOE from ICE and the debuffs are godly combined) ... but that is my opinion -
Once you get to think about soloing builds for AV`s, you have to invest much, since you need good recovery (on most builds provided by the +recovery procs= expensive), good recharge for core-powers (thinking of LoTG´s and purples or or or= expensive) and defense (some sets expensive, the global 3% from PvP IO very expensive).
Bottom line:
You can´t be god without investment. -
Thank you for your comment.
I know it will be expensive. But after some alts where I went the middle road, I just want to invest something in a toon that will give me some time to play with
The level of the powers don´t matter much when I want to see what is possible in mids. For a leveling build you are right! I would put hasten even near AM since it´s a combination I live with for some years now.
Got rid of Group invis for Spectral terror. The Global recharge is still good.
The Idea behind ice storm is (other than my love to ice and hatred for fire), that with LR out, they should run very slowly out of the killzone. My main problem would be the knockback from the pets. Have to see if it will be annoying or something i can live with.
I´m aiming at a lvl 33 build with much efficiency. So, purple sets are the best way for high bonuses with high utility. (the LOTG´s will be lvl 25, have them already).
Again, thank you for the input! -
I read much about the wonders of Ill/rad (thx Local_man and the others), and since I love the visuals of both sets, I decided to make one. I am willing to pay a good bunch of inf for this toon, so i wonder if i made some mistakes making my build.
It is at 236,3 recharge, so it´s easily perma-AM perma hasten and perma PA (55,6 seconds). I wonder if I need to take a better look at my defensive capabilities or, if played right, I don´t need more defense besides perma-PA.
I tried to maximize the damage of my single target damage (procs, slotted for damage), and providing AOE damage when needed (Ice storm every 28 seconds for 400 dam+knockdown + frost breath).
An answer would be appreciated

You could, but it would cost very much. Since this statement is of no value if you have enough inf, yes.
But, when slotting EMP with the purple set you would lose 1,25 ranged defense. Not a big deal at all, but something to consider. -
I tweaked the build from above, so i could fit a apoc-proc in shriek. Well 1,x% more recharge (hehe, got even rid of the purple set and 1 LOTG...but bazilisk gaze and decimation are costy, so no win on the costside I assume) 1,1 more ranged def.

My suggestion for slotting shriek is: try to fit in 1 set of decimation (minus the ctbu) and the proc from apocalypse. Since the debuffs affect the proc-damage, you really buff your damage output from shriek. On my fifties i see values like 55-55 (the shriek damage) + 164 from the proc. The proc chance is 33%. it´s firing often. I can tell you.
My must have proc for the fastest ranged attack.
Since I´m trippleboxing, today I absolved the synapse taskforce with my 2 rad/sonics and my Bubble/sonic (all started at lvl 20 and were 23 at the end). I was shocked when I saw how they managed to kill babbage (only his running was nerving). More disturbing was the endfight with the Clockwork King. He fell in 30 seconds....
One question that still interests me, since I´m no math-genie: As someone mentioned, the -res affects the - damage component of EF. So, if i succeed to build up -160% res, how much -dam% is given when the starting point were 2 EF = -50% dam. On Babbage, it felt like he was debuffed to hell. Even when i was hit, he did almost no damage. So, healing was rather seldom needed. -
It´s a valid question.
As I began to tripplebox, my main question was where to find the best synergy for my trio. It boiled down to having the best buffs/debuffs avaible. A single force-defender provides enough defense for the rest of the team for near softcapping. A single sonic-defender provides enough resists for the rest of the team. Try it redside.
Since I fell in love with - res debuffs and maximizing that, I could theoretically provide a -300% res debuff with my tripple defenderteam. That would be hard to get with a tripple of corruptors. I would rather have a defender sonicblast on team than a corruptors. Since he is a better forcemultiplier. For soloing i would stick to Corrs-no question.
So the question is not, which is better, but which task do you want to be done. I love the Buff/Debuff values of defenders much more than raw damagevalues. SO I go defender. My new trios are now always defenders. -
Try this...maybe that fits.... near Permahasten 2,8 seks downtime. Permadom.. 45,9 % S/L def.
I used one Purple set (absolut amazement, don´t know the prices right now)

Quote:I second the thought on Rad/sonic. The set will provide good assistance to any scrapper type. Even for AV fights. Rad is a swiss army knife, and sonic will boost the damage done by the duo while activly doing damage (and if i remember will lower the incoming damage by boosting the -damage component in one of rad´s debuffs.. correct me if I´m wrong).I'm going to go with a ridiculously specific recommendation: Rad/Sonic defender.
A Rad/Sonic defender is ALMOST a monster at soloing- it takes a little too long to set up fights, and a little too much endurance to win them, and in case of a mez you're in serious trouble. On teams it boosts the firepower of the team by a lot (Sonic blasts have damage resistance debuffs, so it's like a damage buff; Rad has even more damage buffs and resistance debuffs.)
A Scrapper provides good damage in a highly survivable package. A Rad/Sonic-backed Scrapper provides GREAT damage in a VERY survivable package, and the Rad/Sonic does pretty well all by itself.
I tripplebox a rad/sonic team right now which is very funny seeing the damage values rising during the fight... -
It looks like the damage buff will be a targetable one (like in the other Kinsets). Will be interesting.

HEre is one, that most likely i will take at 50 (Psychic Rain is 41 atm). Focus was set on decent recharge values and defense. Ranged defense is at 44% with stealth turned on (turned it of here, because the unsupressed values are shown in the summary- put 2,2% on the top). S/L is at 29%, so with one purple you are at 44% , near softcapped (energy and negative defense at 36,2%)
With this build you should have a valid attack chain for st, and aoe (RoA, Psychic Shockwave and the 2 cone attacks).
Aim and Concentration are back in 28 seconds. Because of that i didn´t focus on the recharge of RoA (which is back at 22 seconds, with frankenslooting you could get to 19) as i only use them together.
With SS and stealth you are invisible if you need to

Although you said you have 3 bil to spend, try the next one. It will cost you merely 100 mio so, if it doesn´t fit you, you could easily swap to the expensive builds.
I believe in softcapped defenses, in this case it´s just s/l run on the "defend warrior village"-mission by maria jenkins.
I run +2/8 with bosses missions to lvl up alts. I have not wait to wait for flashfire or something like that..just rush in with fire cages, FS, fissure, enjoy the +100% recharge bonus and concentrate on the bosses. 1 death in 30 missions is fine for me. And i think it´s fast. The lvl 49 power is free.. take teleport other, SB or another power if it fits you more..
Sidenote: Why put so much money in a farm build if you want to get money out of it? ^^
