  1. Why does it all fall on the last mission?
  2. Last night I was running the Positron TF and my internet quit on my way to the very last mission. I tried to fix it but eventually gave up after about 15 minutes of messing around and went to bed.

When I logged on this morning, I did not receive any of the rewards for completing the TF. I was under the impression that if you were on the team long enough, you were still rewarded for completing the TF. Any reason why I wouldn't have received the badge or the merits?
  3. Ah try to keep it in the hundreds of millions. I was hoping to keep it around 500 mil. But if it has to go higher, that's fine. I'll just do what it takes.
  4. So I'm at work and I'm obessing over the game since I16 came out yesterday!

I'm looking for an electric/shield softcap defense build. Durablilty is really the only thing that matters to me for this build, and I'm looking to do it in a relatively inexpensive way. I can't afford a purple build.

I have no objections to taking the fighting pool, combat jumping, and even maneuvers, and I assume that at least two of those will be necessary to hit it. I have a feeling the build probably won't be able to fit in an epic power, but thats ok with me too.
  5. I just got current with i16 and the first thing I did was change my costume and change my difficulty to 1x8. Now I move from zone to zone just fine, but any mission I try to get into puts me to the default coh loading screen and never moves from there. I tried on AE, flashback, and a scanner mission and came up with the same results.

Any idea what is going on?

    Spines/Fire

I have a level 50 spines/fa and I use the build posted here.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=183832

It is incredible. I couldn't believe the improvement in FA's durability after IO'ing it out.
The nice thing about this build is that it is relatively inexpensive. There are a couple IO's in there that will run you a bit, but you can pick up the majority of it for pretty cheap. No purples!

    Who to IO?

So read through all of your great advice and I decided to IO my fire/spines scrapper and then use him to fund my other characters. I've put about 145mil into him already and its looking good! I can't wait to finish him up and see how much more durable he is with IOs rather than SOs.

The bad news is, I think I just reached a new level of addiction on this game. Before I was all about leveling up and playing different builds. I never really got into the market, but I think its my new found obsession.

    Who to IO?

I have yet to completely IO a character and I think its about time I invest my influence into something rather than just let it sit stagnant in my characters wallets. The problem is I can't decide who is going to benefit most from a good IO build.

I always team, never solo, and I like to run just about anything, from farms, to regular missions, to tfs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can accomplish on a few different characters with a good IO set? Which build is going to bring the most to the table after IOs?

The builds I was considering investing in were
    storm/dark/power defender
    fire/elec/elec blaster
    spines/fire scrapper

    Who to IO?

Sorry, accidently posted on the wrong board!

    14 50's

I just got my 7th 50 last night.

    Tank - ice/em
    Scrapper - dm/sr, ma/wp, spines/fa
    Defender - storm/dark
    Controller - fire/kin (pre-ae!)
    Blaster - fire/elec

    I've got 4 in line to be 50, a dark/rad defender, a WS, an ice/therm controller, and a fire/regen scrapper.
    After I16 I'm hoping for a shield/elec tank, elec/ss tank, and an earth/cold controller.

I just gotta decide who I want to be my main! I don't make nearly enough influence to IO them all out, but I haven't decided who I want to invest in.

Edit: Something I forgot to mention. Because you have the AoE immobilize, you can use tornado without worrying about the knockback that it usually causes. And if you check on Mids, the damage that tornado inflicts is just amazing. I could be wrong, but it's at least 400 unenhanced and could be brought up to 800 with enhancements (if I'm wrong, anyone feel free to correct me).
Keep in mind tornado likes to move around. That damage will only reach that level if it sticks on one target for its entire duration. I'm not knocking storm, it's one of my favorite sets, and I think it would pair up awesome with earth.

You may want to hold out until I16 and try out earth/cold. That could be a pretty cool combo.
  12. I was just about to ask the same question.

I've got a 37 dark/rad defender running with just maneuvers right now to stack with shadowfall. I'm wondering if I should continue down the leadership path and pick up assault and vengeance and a couple ancillary powers.

Or should I pick up teleport and soul transfer. The ability to rez myself and the team seems very helpful, but I'm wondering if I'd be better off just using vengeance. Not too many people die after vengeance has been dropped.

Edit: Upon further thought, I think I should base my build around what will keep my team alive, not what I'll need incase everyone face plants. In that case, I'll probably pick up assault to stack with the -res of tar patch and keep vengeance around for the occasional blaster or scrapper who got carried away. That will leave me room for dark consumption, dark embrace, and soul drain, which are all very helpful powers.
  13. I took maneuvers/tactics on my fire/kin. I figured that as a controller I'm more of a support build and maneuvers/tactics gives out some support to the whole team. Though I did pick up fire shield from the fire ancillary for a little damage resistance and a spot to slot a steadfast protection kb IO.

Most of the time, what I have notice on my fire/kin is that if I'm not farming bosses, I can open up with flashfire/firecages and the spawn is dead shortly after not really giving me much of a need for tough/weave.

The last reason to take leadership over fighting is it gives you access to VENGEANCE! This power is amazing if someone happens to fall. It really helps prevent a domino effect of death if you lose a player or two on the team.

    Buzzsaw Build

Perfect, thanks for the awesome info.

    Buzzsaw Build

Rock on. That's good information to know. I have been out of the loop for awhile, and I reactivated my account a month ago or so. Well thanks for answering my question....

How about a build that'll cap my defense then?

As of now I'm at about 39% with weave and the steadfast unique res/defense IO in tough.

    Buzzsaw Build

I've had my dm/sr scrapper at 50 for awhile now and have finally accumulated enough influence to make a decent attempt at legitimately IO'ing a character or two out.

I know buzzsaw builds were a popular thread topic awhile back, but I can't seem to pull anything up in the forum search. Does anyone have a buzzsaw build they'd like to share?
The only thing I ask is that its something a slightly more than casual player could afford, i.e. no purples.

    Thanks for any input.
  17. My spine/fa is 44 and I'm having trouble which powers I should take as my final 3. I suppose I could always make two builds, but I wanted to hear some input first.

The last three power choices would be 44-Burn, 47-Fiery Embrace, 49-Rise of the Phoenix
    or 44-Conserve Power, 47-Focused Accuracy, 49-Energy Torrent.

I have seen energy torrent used to great effectiveness as it allows a spines scrapper to get off spine burst without getting hit. This is particularly tempting with the upcoming ability to set mission spawn sizes. But I'm questioning the damage of energy torrent and the use I'll get out of Conserve Power and Focused Accuracy as I mainly PvE.

On the other hand, on most every team I join or build, there is usually a controller on board which makes burn pretty useful, and fiery embrace would be nice just for added damage. Rise of the Phoenix is mostly for convenience sake, plus it looks awesome.

Again, I realize I can always make a second build, but I'd like to listen to some outside opinions.
  18. Stygian Storm - 50 Storm/Dark/Power
    Radically Dark - 27 Dark/Rad
    Eagle Eye Avenger - 12 TA/Arch

Storm/Dark was so fun to play, and as my Dark/Rad is maturing, it is really starting to become incredible too. This is my second attempt at Trick Arrow/Archery, and I really want to make it to the 30s. It looks like it will be a pretty fun set.

    Kick vs. Boxing?

Well I assume you're mainly taking the fighting pool for tough, correct? If that's the case, I really don't think it matters too much because DM has a pretty solid attack chain on its own, and neither kick nor boxing are going to add that much to it. But if you want to slot it up, I'd recommend boxing. Quicker activation than kick I think, and a slight chance to disorient.

Edit: If you want to take one of the powers for looks, then you'd be alright to take kick. It would add a little variety to DM like you mentioned.
  20. Just wanted to add this quick. After I posted, I was browsing the forums again and found this thread.
    Defenders and AVs

So after all this ranting about defenders being weak, people out there are asking which defender can solo an av, and are getting SEVERAL answers.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
The fact is that every character needs to be able to solo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every character can solo. Some just do it better than others. But trying to balance characters in an MMO, (doesn't one of those Ms stand for MULTIPLAYER?), on their ability to solo is just wrong.

I'd try running your original experiment of running a mission with a scrapper and a defender again. But this time make it a team of 8 scrappers and the other a team of 8 defenders. I'd much rather be on a team of 8 defenders of any build. Especially if the mission was set on a higher difficulty.
  22. I just ran on a typical AE team... some lowbie leader with a bunch of other lowbies trying to get PL'd and a random level 40 something blaster and my 50 storm/dark defender. One of the lowbies said, "we need tank". I responded by saying that if our buffs and debuffs were good enough we'd be fine.

The mission that they ended up picking was a boss farm of course and we didn't really have much of a problem wiping them out. After awhile, I decided I wanted to get in on the leveling action and switched to a lower character and low and behold, when I come back the team is getting wiped left and right. I asked what happened and they responded, "no idea".

I'm not trying to brag about my l33t storm skills, my defender is only set up with SOs. What I'm trying to say is STORM ROCKS!

    Electric Armor

I don't ever play red side, so is Electric armor and Electric melee something I should be looking forward to coming over to tanks?

I'm kind of interested in building an Elec/stone and also an ice/elec to replace my ice/em. Will /elec have more to offer than /em?

    Wet Ice

I've been away for quite some time, and now that I'm back I noticed that permafrost says it grants slow protection. Maybe it has always granted slow protection, but I also see wet ice grants it too, though I don't see it as a combat attribute.

I guess my question is, do I have slow protection with wet ice? Or do I need to respec into permafrost to get the needed protection?
