  1. Yep, greens are definitely fixed - our 18 person group was able to take em down with no issues.

With all the back and forth about Green Mitos and the LGTF as a result, I wish to voice a concern I have abut this note.

I just did a "mission" from Ashwin Lannister Go talk with Alexander and do whatever you can to bring him into protective custody

    This "mission" consists of:
    1. Talk to Alexander
    2. Patrol Independence Port - 5 locations
    3. Talk to Alexander
    4. Defeat 35 Family
    5. Ambush
    6. Talk to Alexander
    7. Beat all warriors in warehouse
    8. Talk to Alexander
Then talk to the original contact again to move on.

    Okay, before - I /think/ I would have gotten XP for steps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 (all but the ambush)
It might have been more like: 2, 4, 7, 8 as some of the talk to missions had already had rewards removed or lowered previously - like the Origin of Power arc had.

Now though? I get XP for the patrol and the door mission. That's it.

Doing the math - at level 26 I think mission complete bonus was 2000xp and 1600inf. So - I went from probably getting 14k XP - possibly as low as 6-8k (as I think even killing XP from most talk to misison it would have retained the final talk mission's XP?) to 4k

I get the whole no XP for "talk to" or "fed-ex" missions, really, I do. But no XP for hunts? At level 26ish finding 35 family may not result in XP (it didn't for me) if you hunt for the closest ones near the train in IP so you can move on with things quickly - no XP. Some kind of reward for running down 35 family would be nice.

I realize that people were abusing the abandon mission ability - but how many were using hunts for this? Fed-ex mission exploiting I understand needed to be stopped, but hunts? Really?

My preference on a fix for this would probably end up taking more time and effort to fix, but I'd rather see one of these:
    1. Remove ALL linked missions - make us call the contact after each part - since we get the cell phone numbers after the first mission now - just make everything standalone?

    2. At least give us XP for completing hunts. On the ones where you have to go into a hazard zone and may incur more debt on the hunts than you get for XP - they are outside, full debt not half-debt like inside door missions - the complete bonus often helped haul me back out of debt. I rarely get debt on fed-ex missions - though it's happened sometimes with ambushes linked to a few.

    3. Boost up the completion bonus for the completed series (say in this case double bonus for the talk to + patrol when you finish the patrol, then the cumulative bonuses for the series of talk, hunt, talk, kill all warriors when you finish with the warehouse mission) or give us all the missed bonuses at once when we turn in the mission with your contact.

When XP has been removed from things like summoned critters from Death Shamans, Rikti Portals, and Assembler clockworks - haven't you generally boosted the XP for killing the thing that does the summoning? I could be wrong, but I think that's the way you dealt with the fact that we're still putting in the work to defeat the summoned critters that we cannot generally prevent from being summoned but getting no reward for defeating the summoned critters. Give us /something/ for doing the missions - as it is, it's far to easy to get on an AE team and power through mission after mission where you never have to go from door to door, never have to hunt outside to get your next door mission, etc.

The other big area I have an issue with this is the Numina TF. There are how many hunt missions? I just went and counted on Paragon Wiki - 16 hunts all over the city, 18 different typs of foes, not a single door mission among all of those hunts. Now, a lot of them are things you won't get XP for, and won't have any issue killing with many toons - but - if I did my math right - 330 kills with no rewards at all for at least 240-270 of the defeats? Previously that was 16 bonuses, now it's no bonus at all - there isn't even a door mission from the time you call for the first hunt to the time you call back in once the 16th one is done. Now you get 6 mission complete bonuses on a TF where you used to get 22 (actually 23 if you used to get one for talking to Azuria who gave you a linked door mission)? That seems rather harsh.

Could this be a little less heavy-handed? Please?

No, the greens cannot be ignored. Several factors involved in why I say this - after seeing the raid leader on Virtue attempt that very thing on the starting mito spawn.

    1. Yes, they do heal Hami - and a mostly full Abyss all attacking Hami didn't seem to make one bit of difference to his HP for more than a few seconds before it was healed back by the greens.

    2. If we get Hami down to 75% and he spawns a bloom - now we have 12 greens healing the yellows and blues and hami. Those original 6 don't get "replaced" or anything, each bloom just adds more mitos.

    3. Say we manage to get the blues and yellows down - which we occasionally have some difficulty with given just the original 6 greens in a bloom, mind. We then have 12 greens healing Hami...

    4. Imagine the bloom at 50% assuming we can get Hami down to 50%? Yeah, 18 greens. Then the 25% bloom...uh... 24 greens to overcome for the last bloom's yellows, blues, and finally hami.

No, I don't see this as being even remotely feasible. *IF* they didn't heal Hami - and if they despawned/didn't-re-spawn-per-bloom? Maybe.

No, no, no, the goal is to NOT die trying! That's where the problem lies in the failed attempts y'see.

Kid Engineer should be online later, I'll tell him to pop in a few times during the day if you'd like. But either way, good luck on future attempts.

  7. Please ignore if you have no interest in this. I'm not boring everyone with another full post when I have a Forum post on Protector. But wanted to cross post for interest as I know some people only frequent one forum section.

    The basics:
Level 50 Panacea: Chance for +Hit Points/Endurance Recipe, Blueside, Protector

Bid via linked forum post or PM (best offer/bid, and offer may include items as well as influence, but items would need to be negotiated before bid is accepted - well, before it would be a valid "winning bid"). I will let people know if/when they are outbid so there is a chance to outbid if desired.

I am unwilling to transfer servers, but am not restricting the winner to being from Protector, if you think it is worth transferring, feel free to bid.

I don't have a set end-date/time yet, that will likely depend on response - assuming anyone at all responds.
  8. ***Trade has been completed*** Thank you!

I've acquired a recipe that I don't actively need and would like to sell (read that as "I need influence more than I need to horde a recipe that I may never need").

    I'm selling a level 50 Panacea: Chance for +Hit Points/Endurance Recipe Blueside.

I am looking for the best offer - assuming I get any offers. Feel free to PM or reply to this thread as you wish - I will keep replies sent as PMs confidential. If multiple people submit offers, please indicate if it is a firm offer or if you would like a chance to meet or exceed the top bid if you are outbid.

This is available on Protector, I am unwilling to transfer servers to sell this but I am willing to work with offers from other servers if you'd like to transfer over to get it.

Serious offers only please - and offers may include things other than Influence only, but anything other than influence will need to be discussed/negotiated.

I don't have a set end-date/time yet, that will likely depend on response - assuming anyone at all responds.
  9. So far my two favored nameholders are Radar Gun (will be a Rad/DP Def) and Packet Storm (I know thematically storm summoning but I have one already...this one will be a DP/Cold Domination Corr)

(I suck at multi-quoting, so for simplicity I'm quoting your reply - sorry)

Granite (and rooted for that matter) is also mutually exclusive with Sprint, since Sprint is slower and not really a "travel power" either, I'm going to say nope, NR is not togglable with Granite on.

Also, while typing this reply I thought to myself...you know, you /could/ just end the questioning once and for all and test it on one of your 5 stone armor brutes/tankers...

Sprint is shut off when activating Granite or Rooted (meaning both will definitely detoggle Sprint)

Ninja Run - see Sprint (mutually exclusive with Granite/Rooted, sorry folks)

Other than Swift from Fitness, I believe that the only +movement speed things you can use are IOs/Set Bonuses and buffs from other players (Enforced Morale, Accelerate Metabolism, and my favorite - Speed Boost, as examples, there likely are more that I forgot about.)
  11. *cries*

You know, I am home almost every weekend, and every weekday for that matter, why must Double XP happen the one weekend I have plans that will have me away from home for a convention that I've prepaid for. Feh!

Oh well, I'll get some time on Thursday at least. But I've really been looking forward to double influence/infamy for a while now...just to learn it's on the same weekend as Consonance (annual filk convention in the San Jose area).

I'll have good music and time with RL friends that weekend, and I hope everyone has fun with double XP I just wish I could do both at once. (I have considered playing for a few hours, going to the con, then playing a few more hours before bed...but if it's like most of the prior filk cons I've attended...I'll be short on sleep without playing CoH too.)

Any chance we could get a schedule/calendar like we did...last year? Year before? I forget... but it had the Dbl XP weekends listed well in advance, as well as invasion weekends - if those still happen with any kind of regularity.
  12. Yeah, I finally managed to get it working - same thing, shortcut to original on the desktop with the -test at the end of the target, copied all my city of heroes files to cohtest, let the updater run the test "install" and verified files and viola. Also had to fix the icon the updater put on the desktop with the -test thing again and it was all good.

(My original problem was that I forgot I couldn't run a shortcut to the cohtest copy of the updater to get it to "install" to cohtest. I didn't remember that it had to be a shortcut to the city of heroes folder's installation with the -test addon. So, it would attempt to install to cohtest but the updater was in use since I've just used it...like a moron )
  13. I've had similar lockup issues on live - but only if I had compatibility settings in use - if I unchecked run as administrator and unchecked run in compatibility mode it loaded okay. I'm not sure if that may be the same issue you're having on test - I know I tweaked some settings in compatibility while trying to install test client - still trying to get it installed.

I'm not a Win7 expert, this is just what I've noticed, as always YMMV, but thought you might find it helpful.
  14. Reply removed as what I thought was working...didn't. Feh. Ditto issues with Win7 (64 bit here) and installing test client. Still toying with it though
  15. I'm going to give a lot of background, but if I miss something that might help troubleshoot this - let me know please - I will be happy to provide info as best I am able. I'm going to state the problem, the history of when it has worked, and my troubleshooting steps so far.
    --
The problem: Microsoft Trackball Optical running on Windows 7 Home Ed 64-bit. It has the standard left, right, scroll-buttonclick options as well as two additional programmable buttons to the extreme left and extreme right. I have the extreme left set to "ctrl+c" and the extreme right set to "ctrl+v". These work just fine for copy/paste in any other windows application that I have tried except CoH. I also have CoH set to bind teleport to "ctrl+c" and recall friend set for "ctrl+v" so I can use those buttons in CoH for that purpose, or for copy/paste in chat.

Since upgrading (clean install) to Win7 Home, I have tried using these buttons to copy/paste into/out of chat and for my teleports on long established characters (stating this to indicate that these buttons /did/ work on these toons under previous Windows versions)...and nothing. They just don't work for copy/paste or teleport functions (keyboard ctrl+c and ctrl+v still work fine for both needs)
    --
    Some history:
Okay, in WinXP (32-bit) and Vista Ultimate (64-bit) these functions worked fine. Win 7 CLAIMS to support this trackball and there is Intellipoint software that includes Win7 64-bit support and drivers for this trackball. For the record, I'm using Intellipoint version 7.00.260.0 (latest version), Trackball driver version 7.0.258.0 (version that installs with latest Intellipoint - and according to driver information in Device Manager for the trackball)

I have a second PC set up with XP, I have Synergy software KVM set up to allow my keyboard and mouse from the main PC to work on the second PC without any addition hardware or software - I run my mouse to the screen for the second machine and my keyboard and mouse work there instead of on the main pc (and the mouse button passthrough to CoH did not work before I installed Synergy, so that isn't the issue) until I mouse back to the main PC's screens. The button commands for Ctrl+c and ctrl+v work on the xp machine just fine still, so it isn't that the main PC's mouse setup somehow changes when I run CoH on the main PC.

I have 2 CoH accounts - the issues happen on both when using my main PC (with or without the second PC being powered on).

    Troubleshooting:
Just for completeness, I want to state that I have run the updater in default non-compatibility and non-administrator modes. UAC is still turned on and does prompt for access when I launch the updater and I grant it access.

I have tried disabling and uninstalling any other installed mouse hardware/software (the Saitek Magic-Mouse for example that would allow me to use my gamepad as a mouse in Windows) to no effect.

I have tried Intellipoint in administrator mode, upon reboot having the exe to launch intellipoint in administrator mode just resets the trackball buttons back to defaults (back and forward for the browser) - so I shut that off and reset my options to not have it launch as administrator

I have tried mouse settings using the "Enable program-specific settings" option in intellipoint...again, no go.

I have tried ingame to use /bind button1 "powexec_name teleport" for buttons 1-8 with absolutely no effect.

Tried running the CoVUpdater and the CoHUpdater in compatibility mode for XP (SP2 and SP3), as well as Vista (without SP and with SP1 and 2) in all compatibility attempts the updater works fine but the CoH loading screen seems to hang indefinitely and never lets me get to a login prompt.

Tried using "run as administrator" for the updater - logged in just fine, but no button passthrough for those two buttons.

Tried the work-around for bypassing the updater and just launching CoH directly (no compatibility or administrator-specifics listed, just the shortcut addon to allow it to run without the updater calling it)...guess what...it works just fine. But I really don't like running the game without going through the updater. (Does it hurt anything to bypass the updater regularly? As long as I launch the updater long enough each day to make sure there aren't any patches then quit out of the updater before launching without the updater? Is it allowed to bypass the updater except in troubleshooting?)

    Two last points -
    1. This wouldn't be such a huge issue except that over the 5+ years I've been playing I have /always/ used those buttons for recall and teleport. It is a firmly ingrained habit and as such I'm having real difficulties playing a large number of my toons (teleport is my main travel power on probably 50% of my more than 40 toons). I know I could just try to learn different behaviour for teleport and recall, but it's not turning out to be that easy.

    2. Something I did about a week ago also caused the passthrough to work - for one gaming session without using the bypass updater option. I had been in about a zillion areas trying to find a fix for the buttons not behaving properly in any application earlier that day though, so I have absolutely no clue what I did that day - but I haven't had to muck with the mouse software to fix the button assignments for any other apps since that day. Without trying things randomly, and rebooting after each to make sure I clear out holdovers from each tweak - I'm just not sure I can get that to happen again. With that, I'm also not sure I remember even half of the combinations of things I might have tried that day...and if it is a long combination of things that got it working that one time, I'm not sure it would be worthwhile to go through a series of hoops to pretend-tweak settings before every play session - at that point it might be easier to just go back to Vista...but I really like Win7 other than this one teeeny issue.

I do not have access to another PC running Win7 presently (we have a second copy, but my husband hasn't upgraded yet). I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium and a desktop with XP sp3, I could probably also use my husband's laptop (also Vista Home Premium though) or his Vista Ultimate 64bit desktop for troubleshooting in a pinch...I think.

If you need specs for the machine I'm running Win7 on I'll provide those as well, but I think for this it shouldn't be needed...given that I can get the desired behaviour on any PC not on Win7, this PC configuration worked with both XP and Vista, and I get it to work if I bypass the updater and those buttons work fine in every other app I've tried them on. (This does not include trying in any other games with button assignments because other than CoH I play primarily puzzle-casual games with no configuration options - or reason for such options - for the mouse.)
  16. Man, had 7 here and was just hunting for whatever the last one was (turned out I'd missed Viridian first time through the verticals)

    Good job
  17. So, I /think/ we got all the cards in from everyone, but I'm just not sure without a full out compare of the list - loved every card and every added gifty from folks. Thank you all for another great year of making sure I don't end up not getting any cards. I can't tell you which ones ended up here late, since after the 19th(?) all our mail was held at the post office and we got it all just before New Year's - I don't think we've gotten any since picking up that batch of mail at the post office though, so I consider em all on time.

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and got lotsa loot (or in the case of those with kids - hope they got lotsa loot and the CC bills aren't insanely high as a result - and hope you parents managed to get good loot as well). I know I got most of my Amazon wishlist cleared off...time to start restocking it for next year!

To those in cooler climates - stay warm, to those in warmer climates - stay frosty. Happy holidays - now back to work! (drat)

I sent one card for the both of them as well, so...yeah. I used the format: "herfirstname & hisfirstname lastnamelisted" so you'd think if even one of the names in it's entirety were correct that it wouldn't have been returned...but who knows. Until they give an answer as to why they are coming back - might I recommend no one else waste the postage since they seem to almost all be coming back?
  19. It may just be my handwriting wasn't legible enough at the post office - but Charlie & Kyo - can you double check the address as listed for you? I got your card back as "Return to sender, not deliverable as addressed, unable to forward".
  20. And we got your card last night too, Ny Also - first of the year and batch. *laugh* And I loved the card Yum.
  21. Okay - my cards are all addressed, signed, message written in every last one of em, as well as "COH Protector 2009" written on the backs of cards for those inclined to forget just which xmas card exchange list this card might be from. I've also made up all my other xmas cards tonight. Those nearer the end of the list...I apologize if my handwriting isn't awesome, my writing hand was getting TIRED by the time I finished...and my family cards were done after all the CoH cards - so feel for my family and the fun they will have reading my tired scrawled words.

If there are changes or additions - I haven't sent em yet (will likely hold off a couple days before mailing them out to give people a chance to go "oh crap, my address is wrong"). Badge, you aren't getting a card...I don't send out ecards - however, for those curious - he DID provide a working email address (at least he's sent me stuff from it once before...a long time ago). So - Badge, sorry you aren't getting a card from me, but Happy Holidays anyway!

Oh...I will say - this year's cards from me aren't nearly as exciting as last year's cards, no glitter and foamy figures from me this year (I'm sorry and you're welcome as appropriate).

If anyone would like a card from me but wants to feel no obligation whatsoever to send one in return - feel free to PM me your address and I'll send you a card. The Canadian addresses should all be written correctly (as per the way Riverdancer showed previously for best/fastest delivery in Canada). And...I'm done for now. I'm a bit punchy after all those cards, sorry for being babbly... whee
  22. And Kid and I are all signed up - great idea using google docs to compile it for you this year. *nodnod* Excellent idea that.

Looking forward to getting rid of...er...sending out all these cards we've got stockpiled!

I just like matching up cards with people (when I can anyway).
